‘I made more money as a fat comedienne’ – Lepacious Bose

A popular comedienne, Lepacious Bose, on Saturday said she made more money when she was overweight than when she became slim.

Bose said this at a news conference to mark the 2nd anniversary of Herbal Pro’s flagship product, EZ Slim and the Unveiling of Nigeria’s First Online Health and Wellness Newsletter in Lagos.

I was obese for 25-years. I was never happy being fat and I had health challenges like my thyroids were aggravating, I was depressed, for two years I was not menstruating. I was so emotional and each time I visited the hospital, they will ask me to go and lose weight.

Though, I was making a lot of money because it was easy cracking jokes about my being fat. Now that I am slimming down, I do not make so much money anymore.

Above all, my weight loss has been an incredible journey and I am proud of the progress I have made and I don’t intend to stop.

I am also proud of the fact that my weight loss is an inspiration to others. I am happier, healthier and more confident thanks to EZ Slim product.

Presently, I am now a size 16. Two years ago, I was obese with a weight of 198kg.”

Also speaking, Mr Kishore Uttamchandani, Managing Director, Herbal Pro said that a study by Herbal Pro Limited showed that 89 per cent of people suffering from high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes in Nigeria were either overweight or obese.

Uttamchandani said that the study pointed to the lack of insight about healthy living as one of the causes of obesity in Nigeria.

He said the organisation had introduced an online weekly newsletter aimed at providing information and advice on how to improve health through healthy living.

There has been a significant increase in the level of internet usage in Nigeria. The internet is a key avenue for researching and passing on information.

Being a company that is into health and wellness, we would like to use the newsletter to educate, inform and advise Nigerians on how best to live a healthy life.

We believe that a healthy lifestyle goes a long way to reducing cases of illnesses, ” he said.

In her remarks, Ms Vivian Iweha, Public Relations Manager of the organisation, said Herbal Pro was a herbal solution company focused on improving the health of Nigerians.

  • BDCs vindicated by discovery of money in Lagos, says Gwadabe

BDCs vindicated by discovery of money in Lagos, says Gwadabe

Alhaji Aminu Gwadabe, the President, Association of Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON) said that the discovery of huge sums of money in Lagos has vindicated its members.

Speaking with newsmen in Lagos, Gwadabe said that ABCON was saddened by the development, but added that the real enemies of the Naira were gradually being exposed.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had on Wednesday discovered about 43 million dollars, N23 million and 27 thousand Pounds sterling from a building at Ikoyi, Lagos.

According to him, every well meaning Nigerian has seen that the issue of depreciation of the naira was beyond the BDCs.

“Only God knows the quantum of money that is outside the banking sector,’’ he said.

He said that it was unacceptable for an individual or group of individuals to store such volume of money at home.

Gwadebe said hoarding and currency speculation was no longer profitable, urging members of the public to desist from such acts in the overall interest of the economy. Gwadabe urged the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to critically look into developments in the banks, where unutilised foreign exchange was returned to it in spite of long queues of persons waiting to buy them.

“I hear that 100 million dollars was given to the banks recently and only 45 million was used.

“The CBN should look into the position of the banks and see how the unused foreign exchange can be earmarked for the BDCs,’’ he said.

He expressed optimism that with the spate of investigations and discoveries by security agents, the Naira was on its way to recover.

  • “You are failing”-Ruggedman tells EFCC

Nigerian outspoken rapper, Ruggedman who is known for expressing his grievances over national issues has told the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that it only amounts to an incomplete job, if Nigerians get to see recovered money, without the culprits getting arrested .

The Baraje crooner reacted after EFCC found $43.4m, £27,800 and N23.8m cash in a building in Ikoyi, Lagos.

He took to his Instagram page to express his views. According to him:”I am tired of excuses from our leaders. How is it helping Nigeria? Where is all the money they have recovered? What is the money being used for? I don’t know if EFCC gets a percentage or if the whistle blower gets a percentage. Can’t they use the money to solve some of Nigeria’s problems that we have had since 1960? We are a country of great natural and human resources but greed and hunger has been our greatest obstacle.”

  • “I will never do anything for money”-Yvonne Jegede declares

Newly married Yvonne Jegede has stated that money doesn’t drive her. She opines that happiness is germane not necessarily having money.

The beautiful actress took to her Instagram to express this thought. According to her:“I WILL NEVER do ANYTHING for money but I WILL do ANYTHING to make myself happy. That been said, money is good (oh yes it is very good?), but money might not bring those things that make ME happy. I am not yet where I want to be, but I know and can feel it, that I am NOT where I used to be.

“I have never been the type to pry or involve myself with issues that don’t improve me as a human being, that is why you won’t catch me where I DON’T HAVE to be. I’ve taught myself to grow especially in my mind, and for me that is my strongest weapon. In all, I’m very grateful for where I am and where my mind tells me I can attain (by His Grace only). #WorkInProgress #MrsF #Choco #IyawoAbounce #WorkingActor”

  • Best personal budgeting and finance apps

Best personal budgeting and finance apps

As much fun as it is to enjoy the family, friends, food and gifts over the holidays, for most people, the hangover always comes in January when all those credit card bills start arriving.

Whether you stuck to a strict budget during the festive period or maybe went just a little overboard, we have a great solution that can help you get a handle on spending plus help you save more to meet your goals this New Year 2017.

The first question is, “Do you know how much money you are actually spending?”

Finding out the answer to that one simple question could save you thousands of dollars.

While you may have kept a spreadsheet of your finances in the past, that spreadsheet wouldn’t have actually lasted long for most people.

It’s a lot of effort to keep track of every purchase that you make. That’s why we’re bringing you this list of apps, downloads and cool sites that let you build a budget and stick to it every month.

The three that you’ll find on this list each provide different methods for tracking your finances, but all of them do one important thing: Let you visualize how much you’re spending and saving every month.

    Mint.com Personal Finance App

This app is one of the most popular and well-known personal finance apps on the market. It syncs up with your bank accounts, tracks your purchases, and provides you with a comprehensive picture of your financial habits and financial standing. If you want to be able to plan a budget for yourself and always know where you stand when it comes to your investments, accounts, and debt, you’ll find this app to be invaluable. As of now, the Mint.com app works on personal computers, Android tablets and phones, iPhones, and iPads.

    Pageonce

If you always forget to pay the electricity bill and your monthly insurance fees, you’ll love Pageonce. It’s an app for Android and Apple devices that nudges you when it’s time to pay a bill and even lets you use the app to instantly pay fees you owe. Pageonce, like the Mint.com app, also syncs up with your bank accounts to provide you with information about how much money you have and how much money you owe.

    PriceGrabber

Tired of paying top dollar for the products you buy? Try out PriceGrabber on your Android or iOS device. This app allows you to find the least expensive products for sale online and compare prices among all the top online vendors. The makers of PriceGrabber also offer an app called DealGrabber, which lets you search for coupons and deals at brick-and-mortar stores in your area.

    BudgetSimple

BudgetSimple does basically what the name suggests: Budget, simple. Its free offering is a little weaker than everything else you’ll see on this list. That’s mainly because it doesn’t automatically sync with your bank account unless you subscribe to the company for $5 monthly.

That’s not a hefty price to pay, though, and if you want a quick look into your finances then BudgetSimple might be a reasonable solution. The site also offers a mobile app to its paying users so you can verify that you’ve got the cash to pay for that big-ticket item that just went on sale.

One of the real features that we like about BudgetSimple is the design. All of these budgeting tools will help you build a budget, but the biggest difference between them is what they teach you about budgeting.

BudgetSimple seems to be built from the ground up to show you your budget and look nice doing it.

    Grocery Gadget

If you find yourself overspending at the grocery store, Grocery Gadget is the solution. It lets you create electronic shopping lists on your phone or tablet and it helps you find coupons for the products you plan to buy. If you stick to only purchasing the items on the lists you create, you’ll avoid spending too much on non-essential items, and you’ll improve your financial situation in the process. Grocery Gadget works on almost all smartphones and tablets, including Blackberry, Windows, and Nokia phones. So, practically anyone can use this app to save on their groceries.

Doing everything you can to get your finances in order will give you the peace of mind you need in these difficult economic times. So, try out the apps above, and always know where you stand financially!
