The Spain striker answered his critics with a fine strike to give his side a 4-3 lead in their extra time victory over Croatia in the round of 16 and is solely focused on the task at hand at a critical stage in the tournament.

“I know the reason [why they keep booing me],” he told Deportes Cuatro.

    Alvaro Morata reveals Getafe ambitions

Alvaro Morata admits he sees himself closing out his career with Getafe.

Despite two spells with Atletico Madrid and now with Juve, Morata has other plans when he winds down his playing career.

The striker said, “Everyone has his options, at that moment the return to Turin was the best choice I could make. The national team jersey is the goal of every player and you work for this: it is difficult to watch the games on television. And one of the few things I miss is winning with Spain.

“Atletico Madrid? I am grateful to the Colchoneros and I will always be: in the league I see them better than Barcelona and Real Madrid, a Champions League final against Atletico would be nice even if it would be very difficult to score.

“I would like to retire from football with the Getafe shirt, they helped me to become the player I am today.”

Llorente, Koke, Morata named in Spain squad

Spain coach Luis Enrique has handed Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente a first call-up and recalled Koke and Alvaro Morata for the upcoming internationals against the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany.

The coach omitted Rodrigo Moreno and Dani Ceballos from the squad, as well as Thiago Alcantara who is still struggling after sustaining a knee injury last month.

A holding midfielder for most of his career and with Spain’s under-21s, Llorente has reinvented himself as a wide forward under Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone.

“He is a very complete player and I’ll ask him where he is most comfortable playing,” Luis Enrique told a news conference on Friday.

“He’s very versatile, he’s scored lots of goals and provided lots of assists recently. I’m really looking forward to seeing how he does and what he can offer us.”

Llorente’s team mate Koke is the fourth most-capped player in the squad but has not been called up since October 2018.

“I’ve always liked Koke, he’s a top level player and a great person but there is a lot of competition in our midfield,” the coach said after recalling the midfielder.

He praised Morata for returning to form at Juventus this season, scoring six goals in seven games in all competitions.

“I’ve called Morata up because since he has returned to Juventus he has been full of confidence and his numbers reflect that,” he added.

Spain visit the Netherlands for a friendly on Wednesday, then play UEFA Nations League matches away to Switzerland on Nov. 14 and at home to Germany on Nov. 17.

Morata stages come back to Juventus

Spanish striker Alvaro Morata is close to rejoining Serie A champions Juventus on a transfer deal from Atletico Madrid, Italian media reported on Tuesday.

Juventus shared pictures on Twitter of the 27-year-old landing in Turin late Monday for medical tests.

He is expected to sign his contract on Tuesday.

Morata was with the Bianconeri for two seasons, winning the league title and the Italian Cup in 2015 and 2016.

Pirlo is now with the Bianconeri and started his coaching career on Sunday as the reigning Serie A champions beat Sampdoria 3-0 in their season opening match.

  • EPL: Morata quicker than Higuain, Giroud – Makelele

Chelsea legend, Claude Makelele, has claimed that striker, Alvaro Morata is quicker than Gonzalo Higuain and Olivier Giroud.

The ex-midfield maestro said this following Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.

Morata is currently on loan at Atletico Madrid from Chelsea following the Blues manager, Maurizio Sarri’s decision to bring Gonzalo Higuain to Stamford Bridge last January.

“For me, the way I see it, I think it depends on the manager and the way he wants to play football,” Makelele told Stadium Astro.

“We didn’t know exactly what the manager wanted at the start. He prefers Higuain because he’s more adapted with Hazard and Willian, he had him before, he knows Higuain very well, so he knows the mentality and spirit of Sarri’s team.

“But for me, the one is Morata, he’s a real striker. He’s like [Karim] Benzema a little bit, technically soft, scores goals, not selfish, runs, I think he’s quicker than Higuain and Giroud.”

  • Morata, Koke back in Spain squad

Atletico Madrid midfielder, Koke, and Chelsea striker, Alvaro Morata, have been recalled to the Spain squad for this month’s internationals against Wales and England, though Diego Costa has been left out by coach Luis Enrique.
Costa, who withdrew from the squad last month for personal reasons, came off injured during Atletico’s 3-1 win over Club Bruges in the Champions League on Wednesday, though Atletico have yet to announce details of the injury.
Spain coach, Enrique, declined to say whether or not the striker had been in his plans before he was injured against Bruges.
“I don’t know why people are so interested in knowing this. He got injured and that is it,” Enrique told a news conference.
Spain play Wales in a Cardiff friendly next Thursday before hosting England in a UEFA Nations League tie at Real Betis’s Benito Villamarin Stadium the following Sunday.
Enrique’s team is top of the Nations League A Group 4 standings on six points after beating England 2-1 and hammering Croatia 6-0 last month.
“The friendly with Wales will allow us to try things out. The vital game is against England. There will be little room for experiments because we have to win,” Enrique said.
The coach has also handed a first call-up to Wolverhampton Wanderers defender, Jonny Castro, and the recalled Real Betis defender, Marc Bartra, and Borussia Dortmund forward, Paco Alcacer, having worked with the latter pair while at Barcelona.
Barca defender Jordi Alba, however, continues to be overlooked despite showing strong form for his club.
Real Madrid pair Isco and Dani Carvajal, along with Barca’s Sergi Roberto and Athletic Bilbao’s Inigo Martinez, were part of the last squad, but all miss out through injury.
The defenders are Cesar Azpilicueta, Raul Albiol, Nacho Fernandez, Sergio Ramos, Marc Bartra, Jonny Castro, Marcos Alonso and Jose Gaya.
The Midfielders are Sergio Busquets, Rodri, Koke, Saul Niguez, Thiago Alcantara and Dani Ceballos.
The Forwards, Marco Asensio, Iago Aspas, Alvaro Morata, Suso, Rodrigo Moreno and Paco Alcacer.
