    Liverpool winger rejects Mourinho’s offer

Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa is being scouted by several Serie A sides this summer, as he rejects approaches from Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.

The Italian international found first-team action hard to come by last season under manager Arne Slot who saw him as a player who could make an impact off the bench rather than being in the starting eleven each week.

Slot excluded the Italian winger from the club’s pre-season tour, confirming he’s no longer in the Reds’ plans and now Calciomercato reports that Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe made a move for the winger who scored 2 goals and bagged 1 assists in 14 appearances for the Reds.

Chiesa, who joined from Juventus for around €15M is said to have rejected the approach from Mourinho to head into the Süper Lig which is arguably one of the most underrated leagues for European stars to head to.

In June he spoke about his first season with Liverpool and revealed his slight frustrations with no playing regularly.

“At the beginning, I felt the frustration of the radical change and of being far behind the group, and then there was the injury.

“Up until the match against PSG, Liverpool was ahead of everyone, in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup, and among the favourites in the Champions League, which PSG won,” Chiesa, speaking to Corriere dello Sport, continued.

“Could I start to discuss the choices of Slot who has always been very respectful towards me, as well as the club? The desire to play was there, but I put it aside. I understood the situation. I put aside every form of individualism.”

The 27-year-old is in his prime and is wanted by the likes of AC Milan, Napoli, Atalanta and a range of other Italian sides who see Chiesa as an underrated gem in a Liverpool side who are busy trying to sign Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak who would displace Chiesa in the side even further.

Mourinho breaks silence on Portugal links

Jose Mourinho has addressed speculation about taking the Portugal job but did not commit to staying with his current club, Fenerbahce.

Despite numerous reports linking him to the Portuguese national team job, the former Chelsea boss has denied any contact with the Portuguese Football Federation.

“Yes, I can deny that I had any meeting with the Portuguese Football Federation. I am a loyal person,” said Mourinho.

“The only time I had direct contact with a club I informed Fenerbahce. It wasn’t now, it was in January. I had a meeting with the unnamed club. I didn’t accept the offer. But I informed my club even before the meeting.”

Fenerbahce issue statement as Mourinho faces 10 match ban

Fenerbahce have now released a statement after managerJose Mourinho grabbed Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk by the face at the end of a Turkish Cup match.

The former Manchester United and Chelsea boss appeared to grab Buruk by the nose at the end of a match between the two sides which sent the rival coach to the ground in pain. Mourinho has been warned by the club’s vice president Metin Ozturk that an internal ban might be on the way as Fenerbahce released a statement defending him.

“This was a planned provocation (by Buruk) and as part of this plan the individual acted as if he had been ‘shot’ and fell to the ground in a professional manner, and his disrespectful words and actions are documented on video,” Mourinho’s club said, per BBC Sport.

“The absurdity of someone who is touched on the nose immediately throwing himself to the ground and writhing for seconds is clear to the public. It is evident that this individual’s tendency to fall to the ground, seen during his playing days, continues in his coaching career, showing that this behaviour is a characteristic attitude.”

A report from A Bola claims Mourinho faces “heavy punishment” and could receive a maximum “ban” of ten matches. It claims that if his gesture is considered an “attack”, Article 44 of the Turkish Football Disciplinary Regulations determines a punishment of between 5 and 10 games of suspension.

Our relationship was like boyfriend and girlfriend – Pogba speaks on rift with Mourinho

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has spoken about his issues with an ex-manager.

Juventus midfielder Pogba claimed his relationship with former United boss Jose Mourinho was difficult.

The two were close when Pogba first arrived at the club, but soon fell out over tactics and other matters.

“Our relationship was like boyfriend and girlfriend, we were breaking up and making up all the time,” Pogba told The Mail.

“It started great, he was one of the reasons I went back to Manchester because I spoke to him and he convinced me to come back.

“I don’t know why it turned into a nightmare and us fighting. Because I wasn’t fighting. I didn’t start the fight.

“We disagreed like managers and players do sometimes. But there’s a lot of respect from me to him.

“If I see him tomorrow it’s a big hug! But one day we will have to sit down together and discuss it.”

Why Portugal were eliminated from Euro 2024 – Mourinho

Fenerbahce manager, Jose Mourinho, has spoken for the first time since Portugal were eliminated from Euro 2024.

Mourinho had picked his country as one of the favourites to win the competition.

Roberto Martinez’s men finished top of Group F and saw off Slovenia on penalties in the last 16.

However, they were eliminated by France in the quarter final after another shoot-out.

Mourinho admits that Portugal’s 2-1 defeat to Croatia in the build up to the Euros raised alarm bells.

“Portugal wasn’t fantastic, despite reaching the quarter-finals. We expected more. I was at the National Stadium for the Portugal-Croatia match and it didn’t smell good. I didn’t get a great feeling.

“During the tournament we were the team that was making progress, but we weren’t convincing.

“Often, when the moment of truth comes, these teams are stronger. This wasn’t the end of Portugal, there wasn’t any improvement in the team.

“But it’s a young team, apart from the two veterans [Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe], a team with years ahead of them. The World Cup is just around the corner,” Mourinho told Sport TV.

Revealed! the Nigerian going to work under Mourinho at Fenerbahçe

Super Eagles defender,  Bright Osayi-Samuel will be at the heart of Fenerbahçe of Turkey’s defence under the tutelage of Portuguese gaffer, Jose Mourinho.

It would be recalled that Osayi-Samuel was in the headlines last season, after he was involved in a fisticuff with a pitch-invading fan during a Turkish Super Lig fixture against Trabzonspor.

Fenerbahçe won the game 3-2, but their celebrations were marred by ugly scenes at the end of the game.

The Nigerian international, who joined Fenerbahçe in 2021, reacted quickly, landing a punch on the intruder.

Osayi-Samuel’s seeming passionate style will be appreciated by Mourinho, who appreciates committed players.

Fenerbahce suffered only one defeat in the league last season, but six draws proved to be costly in the title race, as Galatasaray were crowned champions.

Mourinho is expected to be unveiled today as the coach of FFenerbahçe

The Turkish side will eature in next season’s UEFA Champions League games and the Portuguese is expected to be on the sidelines.

Jose Mourinho regrets choosing Roma over Portugal

Football manager Jose Mourinho admits he regrets choosing AS Roma over Portugal.

Sacked by Roma in January, Mourinho was offered the Portugal job last summer.

He told EA Korea: “Which national team would I coach? It’s normal, Portugal. I had the chance to go there twice, but they didn’t come at the right time for me. I got emotional when I didn’t accept the last offer, because I decided to stay with Roma and I think I made a mistake. Because now Portugal has a fantastic team, one of the best, I knew, but I felt a great connection with Roma, with the fans, so I didn’t want to take that decision.

“The Portugal opportunity has come twice, but I believe that a third will also come and I will take it, hoping that the generation I will have will be as strong as this one.”

Mourinho also said: “The two finals with Roma were the most difficult to reach, perhaps even the Europa League with Manchester United was very difficult because they were two teams that when I arrived were in a very difficult situation.

“Some coaches are perhaps smarter and more intelligent and therefore choose the right job with the ideal conditions to achieve success. I need to always work, feel that I am doing something and I am helping. Sometimes they are unfair because I can’t be expected to win trophies when my team isn’t the strongest.”

Mourinho has already been with Barca – Rivaldo

Barcelona great Rivaldo says Jose Mourinho would be an ideal appointment.

Mourinho is available after his dismissal by Roma earlier this season. Xavi will leave Barca at the end of the season.

“There are many fans who would not approve of coaches or players who have represented the rival (Real Madrid), but Mourinho has already been with Barcelona and he is a great person,” Rivaldo told Mundo Deportivo.

“His intensity and his controversies with his own supporters would be a concern from day one, but he is a winner.

“Considering that he doesn’t have a club and the situation that is in Barcelona, it is easier for him to reach out to the team now, and I think he would have been a great recruitment, even if some supporters don’t want to hear his name.

“He would undoubtedly do a great job, he knows the team, the Spanish league, the Champions League and he has a lot of experience.”

Mourinho, who has coached top clubs including Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Roma, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham, and FC Porto, could have taken charge of his country.

Mourinho told journalist Fabrizio Romano: “I had the door open to be Portugal coach twice.

“First time when I was at Real Madrid but Florentino told me, ‘no chance’.

“The second time was at Roma, I was sacked a few months later… but I don’t regret that because I’m happy with the reason.”
