    Singer Teni makes acting debut in an upcoming movie

    Fast-rising Nigerian sensational singer Teniola Apata, a.k.a Teni-The Entertainer, has made acting debut in a romantic movie, `Dear Affy’

    The star-studded movie, directed by Samuel Olatunji , is set to hit cinemas on the next Valentine’s Day, February 2020.

    Although, the role of the singer, and now actress, in the new movie is yet to be revealed, she made her debut alongside BBNaija 2019 Pepper Dem star, Sir Dee.

    Dear Affy also stars Nollywood icons Chiwetalu Agu, Jide Kosoko,Toyin Abraham, Chinedu Ikedieze, Odunlade Adekola, and Hafeez Oyetoro .

    Other casts included Mawuli Gavor, Charles Inojie, Kehinde Bankole, Bimbo Ademoye, Bimbo Akintola and Ali Nuhu , among others.

    The plot of Dear Affy tells the story of a female art enthusiast who wants to marry the man she loves, but got her dream of a blissful married life dashed as she ‘accidentally’ got pregnant.

    She then embarks on a challenging mission to locate who the father of the unborn baby is since she and her fiance have chosen celibacy while courting.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Teni, the younger sister of Nigerian singer Niniola,, came to limelight after releasing the hit singles “Askamaya”, “Case” and “Uyo Meyo”.

    “Askamaya” was ranked 15th on MTV Base’s year-end list of the Top 20 Hottest Naija Tracks of 2018.

    She had earlier released her debut single “Amen” while signed to Shizzi’s Magic Fingers Records,and gained some prominence after releasing the single “Fargin”.

    Teni won Rookie of the Year at the 2018 Headies Awards, and Most Promising Act to Watch at the 2018 Nigeria Entertainment Awards

    She also won Best New Artist at the 2018 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival, and ‘NotJustOk’ ranked her eighth on their list of the 10 Hottest Artists In Nigeria, among other accolades.

  • M.I vows to produce movie in 2019

    Nigerian rapper and record label boss, M.I Abaga has revealed his plans to produce a movie in 2019.

    Abaga on Tuesday said one of his 2019 goals is to produce a movie.

    The hip hop star, who has released several albums, will be latest artiste to veer into the world of make-believe.

    The likes of 2face , Pasuma Falz, Reminisce, Ill Bliss and Phyno are fellow entertainers who have acted in Nollywood flicks.

    While , Ill Bliss and Reminisce played major roles in Kemi Adetiba’s ‘King of Boys,’ Phyno featured as Pete Edochie’s on-screen son in ‘Lionheart’, a movie directed by Genevieve Nnaji.

    Abaga wrote on Instagram: “Boss mode activated this 2019. One of my goals this year that I’m gonna share… is I’m going to produce a movie.

    “Okay now it’s out there!!! No going back.”

    Wives on Strike: The Revolution is a family movie which follows the chronicles of the women’s fight against domestic violence, after one of them was beaten to death by her husband. This leads to yet another strike by the women against their husbands, forcing their hands to stand up for what is right.

  • Shoot your movie in Abia, get N10m bonus, Ikpeazu tells NFC

    As part of the efforts to develop tourism sites and promote tourism potential in Abia, the state Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has pledged N10 million as grant for any film shot in the state.

    Ikpeazu made the pledge when he received Dr Chidia Maduekwe, the Managing Director, Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), in his office in Umuahia.

    A statement signed by Mr Brian Etuk, the Head of Public Affairs, NFC, in Jos on Friday, quoted the governor as saying that the production `should be 100 per cent shot in Abia.’

    The statement said that the governor charged film practitioners to improve on the quality of their production so as to compete with the global market.

    It stated that Ikpeazu promised that his administration would participate in the capacity building offered by NFC, saying that Abia played a key role in the revolution of the market and sales of Nollywood movies which has had multiplier effects on the nation economy.

    “We have a policy to open up our market to genuine investors, private and public agencies amongst others through promoting `Make in Abia` instead of Made in Abia, proliferating more industries in the state,’’ the statement quoted Ikpeazu.

    The statement said, Maduekwe had commended the governor for approving office accommodation for the organisation’s South-East Zonal office in the state.

    It noted that Maduekwe said the gesture would create more employment opportunities for the youths, saying that corporation was also working toward establishing two more zonal offices in the North-East and South-South.
