    Nigerian singer, Mr Eazi has been laying claim to inventing the new pop sound often used by Nigerian pop artistes in recent times.

     

    In a recent interview, the outspoken singer said Nigerian artistes are replicating the formula he used in becoming a super star.

     

    According to him: “Now everybody is using words like Banku, Shitor, Maami, Odoo, Sika”.

     

    His statements triggered bashings from all corners of social media. Nigerian comedian, Mr Jollof shared a video on his Instagram page condemning the Leg Over artiste’s outburst.

     

    Mr Jollof bashed Eazi saying:”You are in the same category with Efe, you are not an A-list singer. When you started out you were humble, now you have lost it. Otedola’s daughter is misleading you”

  • Nigerians slam Mr Eazi over false claims

    Leg over singer, Mr Eazi has been slammed by Nigerians over false claims. Eazi appeared as a guest on Reggae Recipe, a show on UK online radio, Capital Xtra.

     

    During the interview, the outspoken singer said Nigerian artistes are replicating the formular he used in becoming a super star.

     

    According to him:”Now everybody is using words like Banku, Shitor, Maami, Odoo, Sika”.His statements triggered bashings from all corners of social media, Runtown tweeted what appeared to be a response to Mr Eazi’s claim of “starting” the trend.

     

    “Bout to drop that new sound again and pls don’t get mad when I finish what you think you started,” he wrote.

     

    In reaction to Runtown’s tweet, Mr Eazi posted on Snapchat a post many believe was a subtle shade targeted at the ‘Mad over you’singer.

     

    He wrote: “Ni***s always asking me the key. Till you own your own you can’t be free. Till you’re on your own you can’t be me. How you still a slave in 2017?”

  • Mr Eazi returns to Billboard’s World Album chart

    Banku music progenitor, Mr Eazi has made it to Billboard’s World Album chart. By virtue of this achievement, his songs were featured on Apple’s playlists and iTunes, making him well positioned to a global audience.

     

    The month-long spotlight on the singer highlighted a documentary about his rapid rise, an interview with Beats 1’s Julie Adenuga, and a live performance session entitled ‘Up Next Session: Mr Eazi’.

     

    The Nigerian singer also appeared on the Late Late Show with British comic James Corden.

     

    Following its release in February, his mixtape had made it onto the chart a month later, peaking at number four.

    Eazi was the fourth ‘Up Next’ artiste on Apple Music, a special feature series which was launched in April 2017.

     

    The versatile singer who calls himself a ‘travelling nomad’ will be hosting a culture festival at London’s Roundhouse in September.

  • Wizkid failed to give me an offer- Mr Eazi

    Afro pop singer, Tosin Ajibade better known as Mr Eazi has revealed that Wizkid refused to make him an offer despite being his ally. He stated that he asked Wizkid to make him an offer on the Starboy record label, but Wizkid declined

     

    Eazi made this known in an interview created to mark his feature as Apple Music’s ‘Up Next’ artiste for July.

     

    Hear him: “When I first met him, he just asked me what I wanted and I’m like ‘give me an offer‘ and he said ‘I’m not going to give you an offer‘.

     

    “He said ‘tell me exactly what you want‘ and I said ‘I don’t want any money from you‘ and he replied saying, ‘What do you want‘. And I’m like ‘I want us to work together as a family ‘.

     

    “And that is what it is [till today]. I’m operating how I like and putting out music whenever I like. It’s a sweet thing.”

     

    The singer also spoke about the kind of relationship, he has with the self -proclaimed Star boy. He added that “In The Morning, a song on the mixtape, was supposed to be a Wizkid tune. Legendary [music producer] played the beat and Wizzy was about to record when I just strolled into the studio,” he revealed

     

    “I told him, ‘Yo, I have an idea, let me try it‘and when he heard it, he said ‘I don’t think this is for me anymore‘. Two days later, the record drops and that was the point where I knew we were really up to something.”

     

    Mr Eazi will be hosting a culture festival at London’s Roundhouse in September.

    Eazi who is signed to Wizkid’s Star Boy Entertainment has been able to leverage from being an artiste under Wizkid‘s Starboy Worldwide. He stressed that there is no reason for him to get signed on another record label. Eazi noted that he has turned down numerous record deal offers going into millions of dollars.

    Hear him:”Between the first Ghana Music Awards where Wizkid announced me till now, I’ve gotten record deal offers going into millions of dollars, I’ve not signed because I see that there’s growth [with Starboy Worldwide], so the evidences are clear.

    “What Wizkid is doing right now, there’s nobody in the game doing what he’s doing.If you go to the UK and put on the radio, the only two artistes you’ll most likely hear on the radio are myself and Wizkid.

     

    “If you put on the TV, you would see myself and Wizkid on it. And the next R2Bees project, you will see it there.At the end of the day, it’s like, ‘I’ve done everything, I’ve given you guys hits on hits “Mr Eazi said.

    Femi Otedola’s daughter and fashion blogger, Temi Otedola, had the sweetest gift for her boyfriend, Mr Eazi as the afro-pop singer turned a year older yesterday.

     

    The fashion blogger had a plane fly a birthday message to him across the sky, an act that isn’t just incredible but also expensive to execute.Before then, she had wished him a happy birthday on social media.

     

    According to her:” A social media message just can’t do this justice) Happy Birthday to my right hand in all this! Let’s just say my look in this photo says it all. Get off that plane quick and let’s start the celebration”.

    Mr Eazi relocated to Kumasi in 2008 and enrolled at KNUST, where he began booking artists to perform at college parties. He showed interest in music after recording a guest verse on “My Life”, a song that gained traction and became a popular record at KNUST. Mr Eazi released his debut mixtape, About to Blow, in July 2013.

    He gained an international audience following the release of the 2015 single “Skin Tight”. He inked a record deal with Wizkid’s Starboy Entertainment in May 2016. His second mixtape, Accra to Lagos, was released on 10 February 2017.

  • Timi Dakolo, Mr Eazi become ambassadors for anti-tobacco campaign

    Timi Dakolo and Mr Eazi have been appointed as anti-tobacco ambassadors.A statement released by ministry of health said their appointment was to leverage on their influence with young Nigerians.

     

    “The Tobacco-Free Nigeria’ campaign, aims to educate Nigerians on the NTC Act 2015 and raise awareness on the dangers of tobacco smoke,” the statement read.

     

    “The campaign will leverage on social media and offline interactions to reach young Nigerians, especially second-hand smokers who need to be aware of the ban of smoking in public places and protect themselves.”

     

    The selection was part of the announcement by the ministry of a planned launch on June 15 in Abuja for a six months national tobacco control communications campaign.

     

    The campaign is a follow-up to the health declaration on zero tolerance to tobacco in the country by Isaac Adewole, minister of health.

     

    The National Tobacco Control Act was signed into law in 2015 by former President Goodluck Jonathan.

     

    Adewole had during the World No Tobacco Day announced nine regulations in the Nigeria Tobacco Control Act 2015 to be enforced by the Federal government.

    Davido, Wizkid, Tekno, Mr Eazi battle for best African act at BET Awards

    Nigerian pop stars Davido, Wizkid, Mr Eazi and Tekno have been nominated for this year’s edition of BET Awards. The Nigerian acts were nominated in the Best African Act category alongside AKA, Babes Wodumo, Nasty C and Stonebwoy. Amazingly, this is the second time Wizkid will be nominated for the prestigious award. Back in 2016, he was nominated alongside Yemi Alade in the same category.

    These nominated Nigerian acts over the past 12 months have churned out massive hit songs . Tekno’s ‘Pana’ and ‘Diana’ have enjoyed massive airplays. In the same vein, Davido’s ‘IF’ has been number one in several African countries in the past few months. The hit song was recently remixed by legendary singer, R.Kelly.
