  • Comic actor Mr Ibu debunks stroke rumour

    Nollywood comic actor,John Okafor,popularly known as Mr Ibu, has debunked trending social media reports that he has been plagued with stroke.

    The new media was awashed on Thursday with reports that the 57-year-old iconic actor was hit by a mysterious stroke shortly after he returned from a trip to Owerri.

    The President of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Emeka Rollas was even quoted as saying that ‘the actor was fast recovering.’

    The sad news generated deep concerns from industry watchers, especially fans of the actor , calling for prayers and support for him.

    However, in a latest video published on his Instagram Page, Mr Ibu, who is seen ‘loving up with his wife’, flayed the stroke report, saying he has handed those peddling the rumour to God.

    He said: “Oh God! People are saying that I have stroke that I am down with stroke, why?

    “How can you announce somebody’s sickness and you have many, you don’t even announce one.

    “I don’t have any stroke please. This is my wife, my humble wife. Well, we hand over everything to God.”

    Mr Ibu added that: “I have been receiving calls from across the world, and I don’t know who is spreading this false news about me. I don’t know what they are saying. Na their papa get stroke.”

    The 55 years old actor in an encounter with Premium Times revealed why how he met his wife

    According to him:” Before I married her, I used to be quite unlucky with women. Whenever I fell in love with a girl, other men would snatch her from me. I steered clear of women after my first marriage crashed. I had nothing to do with any woman for six years before I met my wife. She won the Face of Imo State competition in 2004 and I was a judge at the pageant. That was how our paths crossed. We got married in 2015. We have five children. My ex-wife had four children. My first son is married with children and that makes me a grandfather”.

    Unknown to many of his fans, the revered comic actor used to be a boxer and a football coach.

    Hear him:”I was doing well as a boxer until I went for a championship in Delta State. I was badly pummeled during the fight that I could not even be recognised after the fight. I almost lost an eye because of the punches he dealt me. That was the incident that made me quit boxing. Aside from boxing, I’m sure that you don’t know that I used to be a football coach. I coached the national team of the Actors Guild of Nigeria for four years. I was also a Karate practitioner; I got my black belt in 1983.I practised Shotokan Karate for 16 years and I was a member of the Karate Federation of Nigeria. I am the first instructor that taught Karate in federal government colleges in Nigeria. I taught Martial Arts at a Girls’ Secondary School in Onitsha”.

    Nollywood comic actor, John Okafor better known as Mr Ibu says he delivers well in bed . The role interpreter who hardly talks about his sex life opines that he drives women crazy with his sexual prowess.

     

    According to him: “Persistence and true spirit of sportsmanship have kept me on. Aside that, I’m also sweet in bed, I am good and very proud of myself. Try me and you will be amazed. I deliver very well. I can drive women crazy. People keep asking the secret of my good looks, but the fact remains that I don’t take alcohol or sugary drinks. I don’t smoke. I also don’t take carbohydrates. I live on vegetables and smoothies. All these keep me going and looking very healthy” he revealed in a chat with The Sun.

  • People think I am stupid, foolish -Mr Ibu

    Known for the humorous and controversial roles he plays, Nollywood actor, John Ibu has stated that some people perceive him as a foolish person. Ibu as he is fondly called by his fans commands huge fan base and revered in the movie industry.

    According to the comic actor:” A lot of people think I’m stupid and foolish because of the roles I play in movies.At times, when I have something meaningful to say, people don’t take me serious as they think I’m cracking jokes.

     

    “People also think that I’m illiterate but that’s not true. I come from a humble background and I struggled a lot while growing up.

     

    “My parents weren’t well- to-do so I had to hustle to get whatever I wanted by myself. We were basically living from hand to mouth and our situation was quite pathetic.

     

    “However, despite our lack, I still considered education as a priority and I always had it at the back of my mind that I would keep learning.

     

    “I attended the Institute of Management and Technology for my tertiary education, though I was a part- time student.”
