“So I had to explain to her little by little how it was and she said it was okay.

“Last year, when I almost went in, she knew how sad I was when I didn’t go in. So it was a bit easier to convince her, especially because of that.

“She was a little bit more happy this time that I did go in.

“Prior to that, she didn’t want me to go in. She didn’t want to believe anything about it but after I explained everything to her, she understood how it was.

“She was now encouraging me to do what I needed to do. She said that I’m a man and I should follow my dreams, adding that whatever I want to do, I should go ahead and do it.”

On how supportive his family has been, he said:“I knew that my family would support me, no matter what. My siblings love me. I have unconditional love from my siblings. Whether it’s bad or good, they just find a way to support me and at the end of the day, it’s all about love,” Cross said.

Four-year-old girl dies as mum throws her into river

A mother is facing charges after detectives said she waded into the Hillsborough River and dropped her four-year-old daughter into it.

Shakayla Denson, 26, of Tampa, Florida, is charged with first-degree felony murder, aggravated child abuse and grand theft auto.

She’s being held in jail with no bond. Her next hearing is set for Wednesday, August 8.

Denson is accused of stealing a car from an auto repair shop, then parking the vehicle on North Rome Avenue, police said. Then she walked into the river at about 4 p.m. and left her daughter, Je’Hyrah Daniels, in the water, police said.

A member of the Tampa Police Department dive team discovered the unconscious child underwater at about 4:30 p.m., according to police. She was about 75 feet from shore. Je’Hyrah was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A resident, Vicki Walker, said she saw Denson in the river from her condo balcony. But at the time, Walker didn’t realise what the woman had just done.

“It’s really sad,” Walker said. “I don’t know the circumstances, I don’t know what’s going on in their lives, but it’s killing me.”

Denson was apprehended while walking not far from where the child was dumped in the river, Tampa Police Chief, Brian Dugan, said.

Denson has previous arrests for driving with a suspended license and theft charges dating back two years ago.

“Unfortunately at this point, there are a lot more questions than answers,” said Dugan, who called the situation a “completely tragic event.”

“It’s a crazy world we live in,” he said.

  • 92-year-old mum shoots 72-year-old son to death

92-year-old mum shoots 72-year-old son to death

A 92-year-old woman, Anna Mae Blessing, shot and killed her 72-year-old son, Thomas Blessing, because he wanted to put her in a facility for the elderly.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, Anna Mae Blessing is facing one charge each of first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and kidnapping, reports CBS News.

Police were called out to Fountain Hills, Arizona, USA, where the family lives about 10:00 a.m. on Monday.

Blessing had been living with her son, Thomas Blessing, and his girlfriend in the girlfriend’s condo. They moved her in about six months ago from out of state.

“According to statements provided by suspect, Blessing, and received by the detectives, she had been contemplating for several days her son’s intentions to place her in an assisted living facility,” explained a news release from MCSO.

“Blessing retrieved two pistols and concealed them in the pockets of her robe, then confronted her son in his bedroom.”

MCSO said she shot her son twice before turning the gun on his 57-year-old girlfriend.

While struggling with that woman, whose name has not been released, Blessing lost her grip on the gun. But she still had the second one.

“Blessing retrieved the second handgun and attempted to point it at the girlfriend, who knocked it from Blessing’s possession,” according to MCSO.

The girlfriend called 911. When deputies arrived, they ordered Blessing to come outside but were met with silence. They found her sitting in her reclining chair, her son deceased in a bedroom.

“As the suspect was being escorted from the residence, she made a spontaneous statement to the effect of “You took my life, so I’m taking yours,”‘ court documents read.”

It was later determined during an interview with the suspect that she believed her life was being taken as a result of her son and his girlfriend attempting to place her into an assisted living facility, police said.

According to the probable cause for arrest statement, Blessing “intended to kill herself, however, she didn’t possess any additional firearms.”

In speaking with Blessing, investigators learned that she had owned the two guns — a revolver and a .25 calibre pistol — since the 1970s.

The first, she said, she bought at a gun store; the second was given to her by her husband before he died.

She also told deputies the last time she fired either of the weapons was in the ’70s.

The suspect stated she stored the two handguns on the floor under a shelf in her bedroom.

When Blessing was asked what she thinks should happen to her, she replied she should be “put to sleep” as a result of her actions.
