    ‘No woman is immune’ – Mummy Wa speaks on experiencing sexual harassment in Nollywood

    Nigerian skit maker and actress, Kemi Ikuseedun, better known as Mummy Wa has spoken about her experience with sexual harassment in the movie industry.

    The skit maker during a chat on ‘WithChude podcast’ said she experienced unwelcome sexual approaches from filmmakers while trying to establish her career. 

    Mummy wa stated that she turned down the offers because she knew they wouldn’t guarantee her the role she desired.

    She said, “Behind the scenes, a lot of people are asking for things. They are requesting for a whole lot of things that I cannot do.

    “Where do I want to start from? Me that I’m already coming from a place where they tell me ‘this thing will not work’. How many people do I want to sleep with?

    “To be honest, you might actually sleep with somebody in the industry and you will still not blow with the role they will give you. I saw a lot of men. But guess what? Even the slim ones that don’t have anything, they are still asking for things from them.

    “No woman is free. No woman is immune. But I can’t do it.”

    Mummy Wa, giving a reality check about Nollywood, revealed that this unwanted advance is a common obstacle  a lot of upcoming actresses face.

    Popular Nigerian comedian and skit maker , Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has cleared the air on the wedding-themed photos he earlier shared with fellow skit maker, Kemi Ikuseedun, also known as Mummy Wa.

    Mr Macaroni had on April 23 and 24, shared wedding-themed pictures of himself and Mummy wa, who always acted as his wife in his skits.

    A lot of reactions have trailed the wedding pictures that surfaced on the internet as many of their fans assumed they were officially married.

     

    However, Mr Macaroni revealed on his official twitter page on Tuesday May 3rd that that he wasn’t married to Mummy wa.

    Findings have shown that the wedding pictures that surfaced online was a part of a project both actors were involved with.

    Macaroni. heaped praises on his fans for always standing by him.

    He tweet reads, “Thank you all for your kind messages. 29 feels good! Confession: I’m not married ooo.”

    Actress and comedienne, Kemi Ikuseedun a.k.a ‘Mummy Wa’ has stated that she gets depressed when men drool over boobs.

    In her words: “I think every girl, beautiful or not, has faced sexual harassment before. These include the way people talk to you, what some guys send to you, and some physical touches. The movie industry is a hiding place for perverts. That’s the truth, because these days, every girl wants to be an actress. Some guys would seize that opportunity and take advantage of the desperate ones. It also happens the other way round, but maybe the guys don’t complain. A female producer or director will sexually harass them; they would not complain because maybe they like it”, she told The Sun.

    On if she would like to alter any part of her body, she said:” Sometimes I feel depressed because I don’t like the attention I get because of my physical features. While some days, I feel sexy, even though people always look at me with lustful eyes. I am happy with myself, my body. I love how I look.”

    Sharing what turns her off in a relationship, Ikuseedun said:” I look out for a hardworking man, who is caring and supportive. Presently, I am dating an entertainer and hoping we get married someday,” she said.
