Sad! Medical Doctor allegedly murdered in his private clinic in Delta

    …as family demands justice

A Medical Doctor identified as Dr. Uyi Iluobe has been allegedly killed in his hospital in Delta state.

Dr Uyi Iluobe a young Nigerian doctor, entrepreneur and an ordained minister with the Church of God Mission Ministries, was gruesomely murdered in his privately-owned hospital (Olive clinic) in the town of Oghara-eki by unknown assailants on the evening of 29th December 2022 while everyone was busy with end of year preparations.

At a time when most doctors are dumping the country for greener pastures abroad those who stayed back are falling victims to the poor security situation of the country.

Dr Uyi stayed back and established a clinic that provides care to the people of Oghara-eki.

Sources close to the family have revealed that Dr Uyi has received numerous threats in the course of his selfless services either by patients who do not want to pay for services rendered or those who felt that he was a foreigner in the land and should offer free care to them by force.

Few days before he was assassinated a gunshot victim was brought to the hospital and in following the laws, he advised that they would need to provide a police report while treatment is commenced but they rather insisted that the victim be treated off police notification.

He refused and they took the gunshot victim away angry and furious.

On the day of the attack, he was in the consulting room with a patient (who is currently at large).

The patient was said to have come in with severe pains and was being reviewed urgently without registration in medical records when suddenly the assailants came in and shot him dead.

The lady (supposed patient) and the assassins left hurriedly in a car parked outside the hospital while other hospital staffs were all lying face down and in fear.

This is the most gruesome manner to kill a doctor who places the wellbeing of the community he serves in high esteem.

The body of the late doctor has been deposited in the mortuary while the security agencies are making efforts to fish out his killers.

It is the prayers of family, friends and well-meaning Nigerians that the Nigerian security agents catch his killers and reveal the true motivations behind this assassination.

  • Police arrest two suspected killers of ex-Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh

Police arrest two suspected killers of ex-Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh

Two suspects have been reportedly arrested in connection with the murder of a former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh.

The suspects are ‘murder contractor’ who reportedly hired the assailants and the one who is said to have pulled the trigger.

It was also gathered that Badeh was killed on Keffi-Abuja road following the information that he had some cash on him to pay for additional farmland. He was on his way from his farm.

The farmland was said to be next to the one he had already cultivated.

The police may parade suspects today to give Nigerians some insights into how Badeh was killed.

The parade will also allow the media to interact with the suspects.

An interim report has been submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari who ordered the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, to fish out Badeh’s killers.

Badeh( 61) was shot dead on December 18 near Gitata, a village on the Keffi-Bade-Abuja road.

Badeh was killed, his driver wounded and his friend abducted by the assailants.

The friend of the ex-CDS was released on Monday after the family had paid ransom said to be in millions of naira.

According to sources, the breakthrough was recorded by the IGP Rapid Response Team (IRT) in conjunction with the military and other security agencies.

A source privy to the matter said: “After about a week of investigation, the Police, in collaboration with the military and other security agencies have arrested the man who contracted out the killing of Badeh.

“And following intelligence, the detectives traced and arrested the suspect who actually shot at Badeh at close range to kill him.

“The killing had to do with alleged transactions on additional farmland which was to be sold to the ex-CDS.

“The suspect who hired the assailants was not part of the deal. But he got to know of the transactions the day and time that Badeh was coming to pay for the farmland.

“Unfortunately, the deal was not yet concluded on the appointed day, but the ‘murder contractor’ suspected that Badeh was with the cash on December 18 and engaged some assassins to waylay and kill him in order to haul the cash.”

The Police, the military and other security agencies are still on the trail of other accomplices, the source said, adding:

According to another highly reliable source, the suspects were said to have confessed that their intention was not to kill Badeh, but his driver refused to stop when they carried out the attack, leading to their shooting sporadically to stop the Toyota Tundra in which the former Nigerian Air Force Chief was travelling from his farm in Nasarawa State to Abuja.

According to the CP, the politician was killed along the Akokwa road in the Ideato North LGA .

The CP said “the APC chairman in Ideato North has been murdered. I was at the scene of the crime and only came back. His corpse has been evacuated to a mortuary.

He said that political killings and violence has no place in a democracy.

The constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria guarantees freedom of association.

We, therefore, call on the Inspector General of police to press on the commissioner of police to nab the culprits. Imo is a peaceful state and an example of how politics should be played.

The deceased was in our meeting on Thursday and he expressed concern about political violence in his area. He told us that his area is volatile and called on us to come to his rescue when the need arises.

From the information made available to me, he was double-crossed and when he tried to move back he fell into the gutter. His killers went there and shot him severely. “
