    Ruger is the least of my worries – Headies winner, BNXN

    Fast-rising Nigerian singer, Daniel Benson aka BNXN has explained why he made a shoutout to fellow singer, Ruger during his award acceptance speech at the Headies.

    The 2022 Headies next-rated award winner in an interview with The Nation stated that Ruger is just the least of his worries.

    BNXN also said that he doesn’t want people to think there is a fight between him and Ruger.

    According to him: ‘I needed people to understand that he is the least of my worries, like on a level, if it is competition, talent wise, or anything he is just the least of my worries, this is not a thing I don’t want people to think there is a Buju and Ruger thing (beef). I needed people to understand that I’m doing me and I am more focused on my music and my journey to even caring about another man’s thing’.

    Nigerian music sensation, Davido shares his encounter with Wizkid’s mum at an airport after he had assisted her with her luggage.

    The picture of Davido and Wizkid’s mum went viral after it was shared by a Twitter user, who was simply identified as Wande aka Blacc Majek.

    “Such an amazing woman … God bless you ma,” he wrote replying to the now viral picture. “D way I was carrying mommy’s bags today at the airport, dem know say nah First class citizen (the way I was carrying mommy’s bags today at the airport, they knew she is a first-class citizen.)”

  • Paul Okoye reveals main reason of Psquare split in 2017

    After settling four years of rift as P-Square, the group’s Paul Okoye has revealed the main reason behind his split from his brother in 2017.

     

    In an interview, the Nigerian singer, now professionally known as Rude Boy, said family-related issues led to the disbandment of P-Square and not music.

     

    The music duo, Peter and Paul Okoye who dominated the Nigerian music scene in the early 2000’s finally reconciled in November 2021 after an age-long feud.

     

    They were spotted in a viral video hugging each other.

     

    During a conversation with Joey Akpan, Paul disclosed that their split had nothing to do with music.

     

    “It was a family issue, it had nothing to do with music. And because I respect family so much, I owe nobody any explanation,” he said.

    Paul rose to fame in the 2000s as a member of the P-Square duo with his identical twin brother Peter Okoye.

     

    He studied at St. Murumba secondary school in Jos, together with his brother, Peter also known as Mr P.

    After the disbandment of P-Square in 2017, both band members sought separate musical careers.

     

    He released his debut solo tracks titled ‘Fire Fire’ and ‘Nkenji Keke’ in 2017.

     

    His song “Reason With Me” generated the highest views on YouTube in Africa in 2019.

     

    Paul is the founder of Fire Department Inc, a record label he established in 2019.

    In December 2011, they signed a record deal with Akon‘s Konvict Muzik label.

     

    In May 2012, P-Square signed a record distribution deal with Universal Music South Africa.

     

    On 25 September 2017, numerous media outlets reported that the group disbanded.

     

    TheNewsGuru (TNG) recalls that a breakup surfaced after Peter reportedly sent a termination letter to the group’s lawyer.

     

    Prior to this report, the duo disbanded in 2016, supposedly over a disagreement about the role of their manager.

    How I switched from gospel to ‘worldly’ music – Rema reveals

    Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor better known as Rema has narrated how he transited from gospel to secular music.

    According to him, the switch began when he started going to sing at bars and lounges just so he could make ends meet.

    The Benin-born singer disclosed that before then, he was the head of a gospel rap group in his church.

    The singer made the revelation during a talk show, Rubbin’ Minds show on Channels TV, hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.

    “I was still in Benin when that switch happened. A lot of people thought that when I got signed, I started deviating.

    “No. Actually, life was tough in Benin. I’m not that guy to ask the people in church to pay me because I’m doing God’s work.

    “Right there in Benin, I started going to competitions, going to bars, lounges, political rallies; just trying to get on the stage and hold a microphone, to at least get sprayed some money to come back home and feed my family, because we were going through tough times.

    “I lost my father and brother and I needed to come through for my family. At that point in time, I felt like that’s where I started spacing out; little by little, until I just exiled,” Rema narrated.

    Rema revealed that the transition was weird for him and his mum, but that he was unable to convince the mother about his choice.

    “It was weird for me and most especially for my mum because she was well known in church. I didn’t do any much explaining. I just told her to trust me,” he said.

    The 29-year-old ‘Gelato’ crooner said she sometimes feels her decision to acquire a third-degree is affecting her progress in the music industry but on some other days, she’s proud to have taken the step.

    50 Cent lashes STARZ, says he’s quitting

    American rapper, Curtis James Jackson III (a.k.a. 50 Cent) on Tuesday lambasted Starz, an American premium cable and satellite television network owned by Lions Gate Entertainment, saying that his contract is up.

     

    50 Cent on his Instagram page unleashed on STARZ and threatened to leave the network.

     

    The rapper has worked with STARZ for a long time, taking on the role of executive producer for projects like Power and Power Book II: Ghost to Black Mafia Family.

     

    This isn’t the first time that the rapper has called out the network.

     

    In November, Fiddy, who is the executive producer of BMF, slammed STARZ after an episode of the series when live earlier than it was supposed to.

     

    The episode, which marked 50 Cent’s directorial debut on the show and featured a cameo from Eminem, was available for a few hours on the STARZ app before it was removed.

     

    “Well, who is responsible for the glitch? Tell them to pack their s— up and change the passcodes, Raising Kanan the streets need a body,” he wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post.

     

    Showing a video of a man packing his suitcase, 50 Cent said “This is me packing my stuff, STARZ.” he captioned the post. “Sucks, my deal is up over here I’m out. They Renewed High town and FORCE is the highest rated show they have it sitting in limbo. If I told you how much dumb s— I deal with over here. you would think they all went to school on a small yellow bus. “

     

    He followed up with another photo of two suitcases with a plane in the background. “Hold my calls i’m traveling, [running emoji] [smoke emoji] getting the f— away from STARZ,” he wrote, tagging his Cognac brand Branson Cognac.

    The 2021 BBNaija winner, Whitemoney has said he would get a Grammy award very soon.

    Whitemoney has been getting different reviews for his less than 4-minute single, produced by MasterKraft, titled ‘Selense’.

    In a recent interview with Cool FM, Whitemoney said said he hopes to win the Grammys. He also added that his music is not for everyone.

    According to him:”There is a trend people feel every Big Brother Housemate wants to go into music.I do not want to go into music, I have been in music. I didn’t have a platform like every other upcoming musician who needs a platform. You don’t need to have a sleek voice like West Life or Joe before you can sing. My music cannot be for everybody. I am cool with my crowd. By this time next year, I will get a Grammy inshallah”, he said.

    Whitemoney announced the release of his new single ‘Selense’ on Friday, December 3.

    The song received mixed reactions from Twitter users who compared him to fellow Big Brother Naija winners Efe and Laycon.Some ‘Tweeps’ also advised him to start a food business, rather than investing in music.

    Afro-pop singer, Reekado Banks has opened up on why he took a break from music. The former Mavin signee said the break was important for him to create time for himself.

    According to him: “I was busy taking out time for myself.I didn’t realize how much of myself I had already given out .I needed that time to get back in there, enjoy myself”, he told Hip Tv.

     

    Asked how he was able to convince his parents to support his music career, the ‘Ozumba Mbadiwe crooner said: “My parents are Pastors, I am the last child of six. All the other ones are grown up and they have handled them to a certain extent. When they got to my turn .I felt like they eased up a little bit. They were just like, do what you want to do”.

     

    Shedding light on the inspiration behind his buzzing song ‘Ozumba Mbadiwe, he said: “I have seen Ozumba Mbadiwe road more than I have seen many things. I have been on this road so many times so you can imagine why it would inspire me.

    The road is always busy. When people were looking for me asking for where I was? I only could relate to Ozumba Mbadiwe road. I am just as busy as Ozumba.I am busy working on myself”.

    Popular comedian, Basketmouth has averred that before his foray into comedy and acting, his first career path was music.

    The 43-year-old thespian revealed this on his Instagram page on Friday, while accompanying the post with pictures of himself and Ductorsett, the budding music producer.

     

    “Most people do not know this but music was my first love, then TV before comedy,” he wrote.

    “I had to do it backwards as the timing wasn’t right & I hadn’t met a producer that can see music the way I see it……in its true form & color. God bless the day I met you.”

    TheNewsGuru recalls that Basketmouth recently teamed up with 2Baba and Blaqbonez for the delivery of ‘Trouble,’ his much anticipated single.

    In an interview, Basketmouth stated that his children do not attend his comedy shows.

     

    ” They don’t see Basketmouth at all. The only person they see is Bright Okpocha, their father. The only time they experience Basketmouth is when we go out and people want to take pictures with me. They (my children) don’t really come to my shows, and even if they do, they stay in a hotel because of the kind of ‘rubbish’ I say on stage some times.

    However, there are times an element of Basketmouth pops out and I see them laughing so hard. I try as much as possible to separate myself from my work before entering the house”.
