  • Hijab: Shehu Sani attacks lawyer garbed in native doctor attire

Former Kaduna State governorship aspirant, Senator Shehu Sani has lambasted  Nigerians criticizing the Supreme Court ruling which upheld the wearing of hijabs by primary and secondary schools in the country.

TheNewsGuru.com Reports  that the apex court on Friday last week, ruled that Islamic female students should be allowed to appear in Lagos State public schools with their hijab.

In his reaction to the Supreme’s court ruling a Lagos-based human right lawyer, Malcom Omoirhobo  appeared in the Supreme Court in Abuja on Thursday, dressed as a native doctor, claiming it is his own religion.

Many lawyers and individuals have vowed to frustrate the ruling by dressing in their own traditional attires to public places.

Reacting, Shehu Sani in a post on his verified Facebook page, expressed anger over the ongoing protests against the approval of hijab.

According to him, the lawyer and other aggrieved Nigerians should remove their clothes completely instead of dressing in traditional attires.

He wrote, “The lawyer who went to the Supreme Court in the garb of a Herbalist or Traditional religionists should have gone there naked; that is the original appearance of our ancestors hundreds of thousands of years ago.

“If you don’t like the Hijab ruling, remove your clothes completely and cover some parts with leaves and the protest is real”.

  • DSS releases Igboho’s ‘native doctor’ arrested since July

DSS releases Igboho’s ‘native doctor’ arrested since July

The Department of State Services (DSS) has released a man accused of preparing charms for embattled Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo popularly called Sunday Igboho.

Dada Ifasooto was detained by the secret service on July 16, some two weeks after its operatives stormed Igboho’s Ibadan residence in a Gestapo style, killing two of his aides and arresting 12 others.

A few weeks later, the DSS freed the 12 detainees on bail, although the whereabouts of the two corpses of the agitator’s aides remain unknown.

In a statement on Friday, one of Igboho’s lawyers, Pelumi Olajengbesi, said that the whereabouts of Ifasooto were unknown till the 12 aides of Igboho, upon their release, revealed that they met him in DSS custody.

“This is to announce the release of Mr. Dada Ifasooto who was secretly arrested by the State Security Service (SSS) on 16th July, 2021 on the allegation that he is a native doctor who prepares charms for Chief Sunday Igboho,” the statement read.

“Mr. Dada Ifasooto’s whereabouts was unknown for months until one of the released detainees from SSS custody informed our office that he is in the custody of the Secret Service in an underground cell.

“The strange allegations against Mr. Dada Ifasooto and his incarceration defies logical and legal thoughts and underpins the ill-motivated persecution of Chief Sunday Igboho and his associates. Amongst other things, it exposes the straw-clutching antics of the State Security Service in this matter even as it underscores the ridiculous and unlawful length the agency is willing to go.”

In July, Igboho was arrested by Interpol in the Benin Republic when he tried to catch a Germany-bound flight and has since been detained in the Francophone West African nation where he is facing migration-related charges.

Prior to his arrest, he was declared wanted by the DSS after he escaped a midnight raid on July 1.

A Pastor, Kalejaiye Ezekiel, who went to seek traditional power, has been killed by the same native doctor from whom he sought help.

According to available information, the pastor said he needed the power to draw worshippers to his church.

The Ogun State Command has since last month arrested the native doctor, Isiaka Ogunkoya, for the murder of the pastor.

The 48-year-old native doctor has also confessed to killing Ezekiel.

Ogunkoya told policemen mid last month: “The Pastor came to me for power so that his church would grow.

“I used the opportunity to use him for my personal job.

“I mixed some sleeping solution for the pastor to drink and he slept off moments afterward.

“As he dozed off, I picked a knife and slaughtered him.

“I am a native doctor and I have helped so many people, including pastors who want their congregation to grow, in the area.

“This particular incident happened because I personally needed human parts for a particular concoction that I wanted to prepare for one of my clients in Isoyin.

“When the Pastor came, saying that he wanted power so that his congregation could grow, I used the opportunity to kill him and used the needed parts for the concoction.

“I gave him some solution to drink and he fell deeply asleep and that afforded me the time to slaughter him and cut out the parts I needed for my concoction.

“I know I have done wrong, but I want forgiveness because if you go around and ask about me, people will tell you that I am a good person.

“This one just happened the way it did.”

Justice Angela Otaluka of the FCT High Court Apo, on Wednesday sentenced a 43-year-old native doctor, Clement Joseph to a total of 97 years in prison over N5.6 million fraud.

Joseph, also known as “Dr Omale”, was arraigned by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a seven-count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence.

Delivering judgment in the case, Justice Otaluka held that the prosecution had proved its case against the defendant and subsequently found him guilty as charged in all seven counts.

She, therefore, sentenced him to seven years on court one without any option of fine and sentenced him to 15 years each on Counts two to seven without any option of fine.

The judge, however, ordered that the sentence is to run concurrently, excluding the two years he had spent in prison custody before being convicted.

Also, Justice Otaluka ordered the convict to make a restitution of the sum of N5. 6 million to Mrs Bola Akinbola, the nominal complaint in the case.

In his allocutus before the sentence, counsel for the defendant, Johnbull Adara, urged the court to temper justice with mercy, adding that the court should take into account the fact that the convict has been in custody since August 5, 2016.

While pleading that the court should give minimum sentence to the convict, Adara urged the court to consider the fact that Clement is a first-time offender.
