Bashir Idris Aliyu, Alhaji Ibrahim Sidi Bamali and Engr Michael Ayuba Auta were among those suspended from the party.

According to the party, the decision to suspend them would be forwarded to the National Working Committee of the Labour Party and other relevant bodies for further actions.

Addressing newsmen in Kaduna on Saturday,

Idris Yusuf, the party state Public Relations Officer while addressing pressmen in the state  noted that the party
dissociated itself from the illegal and counterfeit group of the party led by one Lamidi Apapa.

He said, “We hereby affirm and assert our loyalty, support and commitment to the National Working Committee of our great Party led by our lawfully recongnised National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure.”

He called on the members and the general public to disregard anyone or group parading themselves as state officials of the party in Kaduna outside the duly constituted and recognized state exco led by Hon Auwal Tafoki.

He stated that Kaduna State Labour Party was committed to ensuring that the party remains united and becomes the most formidable political platform in the state and in Nigeria that will produce visionary and transformational leaders.

He added that members of the party cannot be distracted by a few disgruntled elements whose major aim is to service their greed to the detriment of the party and the country.

The Public Relations Officer explained that members of the party in the state affirmed and assert their loyalty, support and commitment to the National Working Committee led by the lawfully recongnised National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure.

He stated that following the sudden emergence of a renegade faction in the Labour Party led by one Lamidi Apapa, the party is being assaulted by agents of destabilisation and commotion, stressing that millions of supporters are watching the shameful drama carried out by these enemies of democracy with disdain.

He called on the public to note that the entire drama of indignity going on was being sponsored by an electoral bandit whose main aim is to use a fake Labour Party NWC to scuttle the weighty petition the party and their Presidential candidate, Peter Obi tabled before the Presidential Election Tribunal.

The intention, he added is to create parallel structures at the national level and over the states to lend support to the dirty agenda of scuttling the mandate of Mr Peter Obi and Dr Datti Baba-Ahmed in the 2023 Presidential elections.

ASUU set to meet in Abuja today, may call-off strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is expected to meet today, for proper deliberations on the ongoing warning strike embarked upon a month ago.

The National Executive meeting of ASUU is billed to hold in Abuja to review the ongoing strike and deliberate on whether to extend it or not.

Addressing pressmen one of the NEC members said that they would be meeting to discuss pressing matters with the strike being their priority.

“Yes, we are meeting today on the ongoing strike and other matters,” he said.

When asked if the strike would be called off at the end of the meeting, he replied, “Not likely. There is no positive development that I know of.”

ASUU president, Prof.Emmanuel Osodeke also confirmed the meeting without giving out detailed information.

The meeting is coming up one day to the expiration of the warning strike by ASUU.

The union had on Monday, February 14, 2022, declared a total and comprehensive four-week warning strike.

The strike, according to the union, was due to the failure of the government to implement the agreement the Federal Government signed with the union in 2009.

ASUU had also accused the Federal Government of working against the deployment of the UTAS, a payment platform designed by ASUU in lieu of the IPPIS payment system.

When the Prof. Osodeke was asked if any progress was being made, he answered in disapproval saying nothing tangible has been reached by they and government.

“Nothing tangible has been done so far. We have met with the Minister of Labour twice.

Strike: ASUU denies receiving N163b from FG

“We gave a room for them (NIREC) to intervene and they did. What we see is a lack of will and lack of interest in the public university system.

“The strike didn’t need to last more than one week if the government had taken it seriously. When they had a problem in Ukraine where the sons of the rich were studying, we saw how fast they released money, but in the country where the children of the poor are studying, nothing has been done.”

ASUU and the government have been at loggerheads over using UTAS as payment system, government claims it has failed the required test and last credibility.

There is no way the PDP can win elections if it is divided, he added.
