  • EPL: I will not spend big like my predecessor-Chelsea owner, Boehly

Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly, has informed his club management that he will not spend as much as his predecessor Abramovich did.

He warned that clubs will no longer be able to sign players “at any price” due to the risks of sanctions from breaching UEFA’s financial fair play rules.

Recall that Boehly led an investment group to take over the Blues last month.

The American bought the Premier League side after Roman Abramovich put the club up for sale following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Chelsea have been the most successful team in England since Abramovich bought the club in 2003, mostly due to the Russian’s investment.

“UEFA takes it seriously and will continue to take it seriously. [More teeth] means financial penalties and disqualification from sporting competitions.”

Chelsea Supporters’ Trust lists 5 expectations from new owner

The Chelsea Supporters’ Trust have sent a clear message to the club’s next owner as Roman Abramovich looks to offload the Blues.

It was announced earlier this week that the Russian is looking to sell up after almost two decades at the helm.

The Trust’s statement read: “The Chelsea Supporter’ Trust notes media reports that negotiations for the sale of Chelsea Football Club are moving at pace and that a deal may potentially be agreed within days. Securing the club’s future and supporting our supporters in paramount.

“Prospective owners must engage supporters at the earliest opportunity and take steps to ensure the club is supporter orientated and sustainable.

“As an immediate gesture of goodwill, negotiations for the purchase of the club must include:

“1. The outstanding balance of the loan from the Club to Chelsea Pitch Owners should be forgiven, so that Stamford Bridge is secured by and for Chelsea’s supporters.

“2. The relevant recommendations of the Fan-led Review of Football Governance report by Tracey Crouch are implemented, namely: A. A golden share for fans to protect key items of club heritage. B. Consultation with supporters through the creation of a democratically elected shadow board. C. Continued support for Chelsea FC Woman

“3. A commitment from prospective owners to meet the CST at the earliest opportunity and to engage in a regular, constructive dialogue on issues of supporter interest, including fair ticketing and stadium development.

“4. A commitment from prospective owners to continuing the legacy of the Chelsea Foundation’s community work.

“5. A guarantee that there will be no attempts to exit existing sporting structures without the engagement of key stakeholders, with supporters at the forefront – this includes the European Super League.”

‘Change of ownership will not affect me at Chelsea’-Thomas Tuchel

Chelsea coach Tomas Tuchel has said whosoever that buys Chelsea would be a very lucky man.

Recall that Chelsea Russian Owner Roman Abramovich has put the club up for sale shortly after handing over the running of the club to Chelsea charitable organization amid Russia invasion of Ukraine.

”I’m very happy to be here and would be happier even if the club is eventually sold” Tuchel said.

”There is an uncertainty hovering around Stamford Bridge but it’s what we are used to as a coach”

Thomas Tuchel left Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in France to take up the coaching job at Chelsea in January 2021 and he led them to a Champions league victory last season.

Subsequently, Chelsea won the European Super cup and World Club Cup under his watch.

“I have the opposite of a problem staying here. I said many times that I love working in the Premier League,” said the German.

“I love being in England and feeling the tradition and love for sports in general, and for football in particular. It’s an amazing place to be.”

On whether the new owner would match Abramovich’s success at the club, the gaffer responded with ” that remains to be seen”

”Anyone that buys the club would be very lucky to have it and should be ready to hit the ground running”

Chelsea lost 10 -11 on penalties to Liverpool in the final of the Carabao cup played at Wembley last weekend and would have their next game against Burnley in the English Premier League.
