‘I have the video’: Maryam Booth, Deezell lock horns over leaked nude video

Popular Kannywood actress, Maryam Booth and Ibrahim Ahmad Rufai, popularly known as Deezell, have been caught up in the web of a leaked nude video that recently trended on various social media platforms.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Maryam Booth has threatened to sue Deezell, her ex-lover after the 3 seconds leaked nude video, allegedly of her, surfaced online, with its origin yet to be ascertained at the time of this report.

However, we learnt that security agencies have begun forensic research and investigation into the leaked nude video that has been viewed by thousands of people.

#MaryamBooth trended on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram on Friday after the leaked nude video of the actress was leaked. “I have the video” and “I have the full video” also trended as a result.

Meanwhile, a Twitter user that goes by the name Sarki, tweeting using @Waspapping_ had fingered Deezell as responsible for recording the nude video back then when he was dating Maryam Booth.

The video is 3 years old, according to Maryam Booth, who said it was “sneakily” taken by Deezell while she was changing.

According to Sarki, Deezell is responsible for spreading the nude video. Sarki said that although Deezell might not be responsible for releasing the video on Twitter, but that he is the one who recorded it, he should be held responsible for releasing it to the public.

“Deezell is responsible for recording that nude video back then when he was dating Maryam Booth. He’s also responsible for spreading the nudes video because he couldn’t blackmail her into sending him 10m naira out of the 25m naira she got from an advert she did.

“He might not be responsible for releasing it on twitter but he’s the one who record that video and should be held responsible for releasing it to the public,” Sarki tweeted.

However, in a statement, Deezell did not deny recording the leaked nude video, but insisted he was not the one who leaked the video and that to the best of his knowledge, he did not know who leaked the video.

Deezell statement with the title: “Maryam Booth Unclad Video: Statement on the False Social Media Allegation Against Me” reads:

“My attention has been drawn to a certain nude video of a popular Hausa Actress Maryam Booth circulating on social media platforms, coupled with a false allegation on my person that I leaked the video.

“Unfortunately, these misguided elements and agents of destruction failed woefully to furnish any evidences and particulars that link me with the said leaked video in circulation.

“As good faith requires an answer, I wish to make it clear that, at all material time, I did not leak the alleged video in circulation on social media and to the best of my knowledge, I do not know who leaked the video.

“As a Muslim, I know that it is against the Holy Qur’an and teachings of our Noble Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) to spread out or expose wrongful action/deeds of another to the public, more especially on social media with sole aim of causing harm.

“Again, these outrageous allegations made against me on social media of a trending unclad video of a Muslim sister, are completely false in all ramification and I want everyone to know that this accusation is false in every aspect.

“Although, the reason for this false allegation against me is not within my knowledge, I wish to call on those responsible for this false allegation to withdraw their statements and apologise via the same social media platform within 12 hours with immediate effect.

“Failure to do so, I will be left with no other option but to take proper legal step to protect my hard earned reputation and personality in question because of your false allegations.

“Finally, I wish to sympatize with the victim and urge her to investigate the source of the leaked video in circulation and take proper legal action to ensure justice against the perpetrators”.

Following Deezell statement, Maryam Booth quickly released a statement as well, stressing in it that her statement was prompted by the statement made by Deezell.

Maryam Booth statement reads: “I am aware of the current trends and media outrage regarding the unfortunate leaked video, purported to be me, released via number of social media platforms, and viewed by thousands of people so far.

“Initially, I wanted to keep mute until security agencies concluded their forensic research and investigation.

“The recent statement from someone, in person of Ibrahim Ahmad Rufai, popularly known as Deezell, leaves me with no choice but to break the silence. As a woman, actress and role model I will not let this matter to be swept under the carpet.

“For the record, I want categorically state that this same man (Ibrahim Ahmad Rufai) has been, in multiple occasions threatened to leaked my video if I didn’t give him money.

“As a woman, actress and role model to millions, I have been trying to protect my dignity through possible means, but without my knowledge, the three-year-old video was leaked.

“In a situation like this, one need to be very observant before any pronouncement, but it is true that Deezell was my Ex who then sneakily recorded me while I was changing.

“I am already in touch with associates for consultation, which may require taking legal actions against whoever is responsible for leaking it.

“I want to appreciate my family, friends and particularly my fans for their compassion, sympathy and concern in this trying time. Thank you all”.

  • INTERVIEW: Billionaire Ned Nwoko speaks on his quest to eradicating malaria from Africa

INTERVIEW: Billionaire Ned Nwoko speaks on his quest to eradicating malaria from Africa

In this interview, Delta State born Billionaire, astute politician and a renowned philanthropist Ned Nwoko opened up on his quest to eradicating malaria scourge from Africa.

Recall that Ned Nwoko in late 2019, embarked on a malaria campaign to ANTARCTICA making him the first Nigerian to have visited that continent, thereby making the presence of Nigeria known there, in the ice cold continent.

He bore his mind on his total commitment to eradicating TOTALLY the KILLER disease (malaria) NOT only from Nigeria in particular BUT also the generality of the AFRICAN continent would be free from malaria at the end of the quest. To him, it’s a fight that MUST be WON.

    Excerpts:

INTERVIEWER : Please tell your experience in ANTARCTICA in your campaign against malaria?

NED NWOKO : Thank you very much. My trip to Antarctica became very important simply because, I have gotten in touch with some scientists who directed that we meet there, as a matter of fact, ANTARCTICA is not habited by anybody per say. But there are TWELVE COUNTRIES that has research bases there; America, UK, GERMANY, SOUTH AFRICA.( from Africa ) etc, TWELVE of them are the signatories to the 1971 treaty, that has made it as a research base for these countries , so there is alot happening there, alot of research work, the total number of scientists put together is about 5,000, but no Nigerian there, I can tell you that. We should be there, we should identify with the treaty and take our position, and those countries, they’ll be leading the world in next century and we’re behind. But my concern primarily has to do with vaccine for malaria. Malaria is the biggest KILLER in Africa, almost 500,000 people lose their lives every year, annually, according to World Health Organization ( W.H.O ) statistics, it kills more than the other ailments put together. So you begin to wonder, why is it that, government across board, individual, groups have not considered it be important to look for solution, a permanent solution. It is not something that, like most, talk about tents, nets or having some drugs. Look, the drugs that most of us take for malaria might be effective temporarily but they cause more permanent harm to the body organs more than anything else. I myself, I suffer from malaria practically every month, I know the effect of it and I also many people don’t go to work every day or every month because of malaria. So, we loose alot of lives, we loose alot of man power. So, it is a problem for Africa, Africa must find solution for malaria. Malaria is not a white man’s problem as you know. If were the problem of America or the UK, i’m sure they would have found a result, they would have found a vaccine. What is happening is that, most of the drugs manufacturing companies are either in America or the UK, and they are protecting their industries as well.

INTERVIEWER : So Sir, with this your movement to Antarctica as an African, trying to pave way for Nigeria, is there hope for Nigeria?

NED NWOKO: (Cuts in) If there is no hope, I won’t be doing it, I don’t waste my time.

INTERVIEWER : So Sir, how enormous is the task ahead in terms of financial implications?

NED NWOKO : Every task is enormous, what is enormous to me might not be to Nigeria as a Country or some other individuals, what is enormous to you might not be to me. It’s something we can handle. I’m doing what i’m doing now, and i’m sure that with time, others will join in the crusade.

INTERVIEWER : You said something at the beginning of your interview that Antarctica is not a place that is inhabited by anybody, so the question I want to ask is, how feasible is the specimen they want to use to run this test to be able to see how they can get a vaccine, given the fact that every specimen you want to use to get a vaccine must have life and then the duration, the lifespan of this place has put into consideration, so how do you reconcile this two things?

NED NWOKO : Researches are done there, it doesn’t mean that the test must be done there. The problem is not ANTARCTICA, the problem is in Africa and some parts of Asia, some parts of south America. Yes, they will do the work they’re doing there. But in terms of clinical analysis and clearance, that should be done where the problems are.

Let me tell you, apart from the research, which is going to be conducted across Africa, at least, through five universities, we are also looking at how to clean up Nigeria and the clean up Nigeria involves sanitation and fumigation and this is where the public will participate, everybody must be involved. You might not be involved in the researches to be done in the laboratory or funds but when it comes to clean up Nigeria everybody must be involved. Who knows how mosquitoes breeds, arguably it’s from dirty environment, we have a very dirty environment everywhere across the country. So, when the time comes, everybody must be ready to clean up Nigeria, it’s going to involve alot.

INTERVIEWER : Sir, is it a promise for this 2020?

NED NWOKO : Time is not something that I can tell you, we are starting now, the year is just quite early but before the end of the year, alot will be achieved. But at least, in the production of the malaria vaccine, three years should be enough to get a vaccine, clinically tested and approved by all relevant authorities within and outside Nigeria, but in terms of clean up Nigeria, we must do that this year.

INTERVIEWER : Sir, apart from you that has taken it upon yourself to eradicating malaria from Africa, is any other country that has identified with you to fighting this cause ?

NED NWOKO : YES; South Africa has, Burkina Faso has, Ghana has, and we are going to tour all the countries and we’re doing alot, in terms of educating, they also suffer from malaria, malaria is not something that is exclusive to Nigeria.

INTERVIEWER : Sir, before you go, do you have any partnership with the federal government, the ministry of Health with regards to this move that you have embarked on?

NED NWOKO : Yes, we’re working with the federal government, few days ago the I.G of police said they’ll partner with us last month, the Military also visited me to say that they want to partner with us, ministry of Health, ministry of Environment and ministry of information. It is not something that my foundation can handle alone, we need government support, we need the governors to support us, we need the Local Government chairmen to work with us, and of course the people must also work us.

INTERVIEWER : Thank you very much for your time sir.

    NED NWOKO : You’re welcome.

  • Minority Leadership Crisis: Despite court order preserving status quo, leadership allegedly gives a nod to Committee to breach Order

Minority Leadership Crisis: Despite court order preserving status quo, leadership allegedly gives a nod to Committee to breach Order

…as leadership is set to suspend Chinda, others

The minority leadership crisis rocking the House of Representatives continues as some members of leadership pressurises committee chairman to lay report.

This is despite a court order maintaining the status quo before the proceedings of the House on Wednesday 16th Nov 2019 and restraining the House from taking any further step, the Committee is likely to conclude and lay its report.

Report has it that the said report is being written by an Edo born All Progressives Congress (APC) lawyer and Ex Member of the National Assembly (NASS).

Recall that, the media was agog within the week that the House leadership had concluded plans to suspend Kingsley Chinda, Chukwuma Onyema, Ajibola Muraino and Yakubu Barde over alleged impersonation of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) leadership in the House.

It was reliably gathered on Friday that some members of House leadership have repeatedly mounted pressures on the House Committee Chairman on Ethics and Privileges to receive the report already written by a consultant and lay same despite a court order preserving the status quo which restrains the House from taking any further step.

A source privy to this development, a member of the Committee and new member of the House expressed surprise that there is so much deceit and selfishness amongst members.

He revealed that the pressure from some members of House leadership was so strong that the chairman had to cave in.

According to him, these members are harmless and have not done anything that affects the entire House, it’s their PDP matter and besides, if their party has suspended their leaders in the House and appointed interim leadership pending when they sort their issues, why is the House so vexed.

“We don’t have to fight the cause of a group of members against another group.

“If this pressure continues and the report is layed and the four lawmakers suspended then it’s goodbye to democracy in Nigeria.

“As a new member, I fully supported the Speaker and still support him fanatically but suspending these Members from Parliament for this reason is bye bye to democracy,” he said.

He further stated, “it will be a sad commentary in all spheres as the coffin of Representative democracy and voice of opposition must have been sent to the morgue and this is not good for a vibrant House”.

Another source added that since the chairman and members of the Ethics and Privileges were personally sued as 4th to 20th Defendants respectively in the suit and a positive order of Court was made that they maintain the status quo as at 6th Nov 2019, and having been duly served with the order;attending clandestine meetings without reflecting same on the order paper, illegally signing the report (or the chairman using signatures for past attendances of meetings not meant for the report) and eventually laying the purported report will just expose them to contempt of court and possible future imprisonment.

    See injuction below restraining House:

Sensing the danger ahead, Chinda had earlier issued a statement stating the obvious last week.

In the statement, the Obio/Akpor Rep of Rivers State said “I am shocked to hear that this issue is resonating.

“I don’t think the Speaker will concede to suspending us from the House for… speaking on behalf of the PDP Caucus of the House.

“Anyway from hindsight and the level of horse-trading in politics and the House in particular, I advise my other three colleagues to brace up for the worst.

“If we are suspended via a majority vote in the House, then I pity the Parliament and Parliamentarians, because it means no member will have an independent opinion anymore. A bad precedent would have been set.

“Yes, I hear some people say when it’s done, we can go to court and they will frustrate the litigation for the next 3 years and we will remain outside the Parliament but I am not worried about all that”.

A few members of the Committee confirmed that they have received a copy of the process and the Clerk of NASS has been served with the process.

At the Federal High Court, the trial was adjourned to Friday 21st Feb 2020.

  • Pantami warns Nigerians against use of Windows 7 powered devices

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami has alerted Nigerians on the risks of using Windows 7 powered devices for internet-based services that require the use of sensitive information such as internet banking.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Pantami gave the warning in the statement released by his Technical Assistant, Government Digital Services and Innovation, Mukhtar Sadiq.

With the official end of support for Windows 7 operating system (OS), which came into effect on 14th January 2020, Microsoft will no longer provide technical support and security or software updates for the platform.

Systems running on Windows 7 OS will continue to work, however they will become progressively more vulnerable to viruses and malware. The best way to remain secure is to use the latest OS available.

“We are therefore calling on all Windows 7 users to immediately implement some precautionary measures to help protect themselves from breach of privacy and loss of critical data.

“The measures are: keeping security software up to date; keeping all other applications up to date; and being more skeptical on downloads and emails accessed,” the statement read.

According to the statement also, the minister in his efforts to propagate the importance of cyber security and to ensure that cyber threats are quickly identified and contained, will from time to time alert the general public on important event and measures to ensure that people can feel safe online.

Following the de-registration of 74 political parties in Nigeria, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday immediately released the list of existing political parties in the country.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu at a press conference in Abuja had said the deregistered parties failed to meet constitutional requirements that determine the continuous existence of political parties in the country.

Meanwhile, INEC said seventy-five (75) political parties actually did not satisfy the requirements of the Fourth Alteration to the Constitution.

However, according to the INEC, one of the political parties, the Action Peoples Party (APP) filed a suit in court and obtained an order restraining the Commission from deregistering it.

Consequently, the party remains registered pending the determination of the case by the court, INEC stated.

  • Breaking: INEC deregisters 74 political parties

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has deregistered a total of 74 political parties leaving only 18 to exist and equally fixed September 19 2020 for Edo state governorship election while Ondo comes up on the 10th Oct 2020.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu made this known at a press conference on Thursday in Abuja.

He said the parties failed to meet constitutional requirements that determine the continuous existence of political parties in the country.

Similarly, INEC as said it is considering creating additional polling units across the country before the 2023 general elections.

INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu said this in a statement issued by the commission’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mr Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi on Thursday in Abuja.

The statement quoted Yakubu to be giving the hint when he received Geographic Information System (GIS) support equipment donated by the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES) in Abuja on Wednesday.

Yakubu said that at the moment Nigeria had 119,973 polling units, more than 57,000 voting points, making a total of more than 180,000 polling units and voting points.

“Yet, if you look at some of the satellite images and you place dots on spots where there are polling units in relation to the vast area where we have no polling units.

“So, GIS in our operation with the equipment that we have will be a great facilitator in the efforts of the commission in that respect,’’ he observed.

Yakubu said that the Commission was already collaborating with the National Population Commission (NPC) to achieve the objective of delimiting constituencies and creating new polling units that would cater for the voting needs of Nigeria’s increasing population.

The INEC chairman appreciated the support of the development partners and acknowledged that the donated equipment would assist the commission in area of delimitation of constituencies which was one of the constitutional responsibilities of INEC.

“Your assistance will be great in addition to what we have been trying to do; the commission is considering the possibility of creating additional polling units before the 2023 general elections.

“Nigeria is a huge country, the population is rising and each time I and the commissioners travel around the country; we see new settlements emerging.

  • TNG Analysis: NASS struggling to reject toga of rubber stamp

TNG Analysis: NASS struggling to reject toga of rubber stamp

…vow to wear cap of a watchdog

…made bold moves to correct impression

Since the ninth Assembly resumed legislative business last werk Tuesday, the signals and actions that signposted the National Assembly clearly indicate that there is need to correct the rubber stamp image impression created in the last six months of its existence.

Twenty four hours before resumption, the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan vehemently rejected the title in a press conference stating clearly that it can’t be business as usual.

Lawan did not mince words he told whoever cared to listen that the ninth Assembly is focused and ready to transform the lives of Nigerians positively.

The speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila however had a different thing to say declaring that he was not elected to fight the executive arm.

In a nutshell telling Nigerians he cared less if the Assembly adorns the toga of a rubber stamp.

Erasing an eligible impression created by the ninth legislature maybe a little bit difficult as the first six months of NASS had exhibited all the traces of a rubber stamp body.

Virtually all executive bills scaled through without much stress and the enveloped 2020 budget too enjoyed such a treatment.

But the new swan song of the upper legislature last week clearly depicts a new picture of the upper legislative body.

Hon Benjamin Kalu, the spokesperson of the House had also told journalists last week that the House was not a rubber stamp.

He said “we’ll bark and bite if need be and put on the cap of the watchdog of the society as enshrined in the 1999 constitution as amended.

Last week and this week showcased a little of the watchdog role Kalu mentioned in his weekly briefing.

The House making a bold move resolved that President Buhari should sack all his service chiefs and thereafter summoned them to show their beautiful faces before reps.

This was graciously respected by the service chiefs who had closed door sessions with the Lawmakers.

Positive development as this for once gave an impression that a national legislature exists in Nigeria.

The Senate on the other hand declared a full day session to discuss matters strictly on insecurity in Nigeria and had a closed door chat with the Inspector General of Police, Abubakar Adamu.

The situation if well placed and priortised by the Lawmakers, the rubber stamp toga may gradually water down but the first six months really painted the ninth Assembly as a mere extension of the executive arm of government.

  • Why you should update your SIM card immediately

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Pantami has directed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to revise the policy on SIM Card registration, and usage.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the directive is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by Dr Femi Adeluyi, Technical Assistant (Information Technology) to the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy.

According to Adeluyi, the directive is in line with the powers of the Minister as stated in Section 25(1) of the Nigerian Communications Act 2003- “the Minister shall, in writing, from time to time notify the Commission or and express his views on the general policy direction of the Federal Government in respect of the communications sector.”

The revision of the policy, according to Adeluyi, is based on the feedback received from security agencies, following the successful revalidation of improperly registered SIM cards in September 2019, and the eventual blocking of those that failed to revalidate their SIM cards.

The updated policy, TNG learnt, is expected to include the following provisions, amongst others: ensure that the National Identity Number (NIN) becomes a prerequisite for Nigerians registering new SIM cards, while for foreigners, their passports and visas would be required.

For already registered SIM cards, users are expected to update their SIM cards with their National Identity Number (NIN) on or before 1st of December, 2020.

According to the statement, NCC will ensure that only fully accredited agents support the SIM card registration process without pre-registering SIM cards themselves, while the eventual registration should be done by the operators.

When the policy is implemented, there would be a maximum number of SIM cards that can be tied to a single individual, possibly a maximum of 3; and NCC will nsure that no unregistered SIMs are ever allowed on mobile networks.

The NCC will also ensure that subscribers can easily check the number of SIM cards registered to their name, along with the associated phone numbers and networks; and also ensure that mobile network operators fortify their networks against cyberattacks and ensure that they adhere to the provisions of the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).

Also, the NCC will ensure that SIM cards that have been used to perpetrate crimes are permanently deactivated; and provide the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy with progress reports on the implementation of the revised policy.
