  • It was a bitter experience – Boy Alinco recounts marriage with American lady for citizenship

It was a bitter experience – Boy Alinco recounts marriage with American lady for citizenship

Popular Nigerian actor, Bayo Bankole, who was famous for his role in the sitcom ‘Papa Ajasco’ has recounted his experience while pursuing a US citizenship through marriage in 2015.

The 56-year-old actor in a recent episode of the Teju Babyface show narrated how he tied the knot with a US lady just seven months after meeting her, but noted that the first two years of their marriage were a “bitter experience.”

The actor stated that, to survive, he had to do menial jobs to support his family in both the US and Nigeria.

He also attributed his difficulties to the type of account he had with his wife and the lack of guidance and mentorship.

He further expressed gratitude that his life is better and he has his children from Nigeria with him in the US.

He said, “I have had the opportunity of traveling way back in 1999, and 2000 frequently. But I came to the US for the first time in April 2015.

“Then I met a lady. When I came back home in October 2015, I got settled and decided to get married. But it was a bitter experience for me. Eventually, I had to stay back. Two years of an experience that I will not want to recall. It was just like what I wrote when I eventually got my green card that truly I am an Asunkungbade — one who fights to earn his crown. At the end of the day, all glory be to God.

“There are processes to citizenship. There are processes to getting a green card. Do you want to go through asylum? The process of immigration does not come easy. Some guys are fortunate. They get it so easily. But not all of us. If you bring 10 guys out, eight will have a nasty experience.

“You have situations that if you go through marriage if you are fortunate to have a good woman, thank your star for it. And if you do not have a good woman, please endure and enjoy it. The situation becomes so difficult when you have your loved ones back at home who depend on you. You are struggling with their survival here and at home.

“I was not fortunate to arrive at a place where people could mentor me.”

Desmond Elliott finally breaks silence on having an affair with men

Nollywood actor, director and politician Desmond Oluwashiola Elliot has finally responded to the allegations of being romantically involved with men.

TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that Desmond Elliot was recently named among top Nigerian celebrities alleged to be involved in homosexuality.

According to controversial blogger, Gistlover, the actor-cum politician was at some point romantically involved with top influential men in the country

The blogger further shared a list which captured the names of many prominent figures in the country, sparking several reactions from social media users.

Speaking in a viral video of his interview with TVC, Elliot described the accusation as groundless, expressing that he had more important issues to focus on than responding to gossip.

He said, “Why would I respond to allegations made against me when it did not reduce or increase my life? Secondly, it is an opinion that is being conceived. And I don’t think it is necessary for me to come out and say it’s true or not true; as long as I’m affecting people positively, I’m good.”

Encouraging tolerance, Elliot stated that while everyone has the right to live as they see fit within legal boundaries, mutual respect should remain a priority.

He explained, “If you feel you identify as something as long as it’s within the law people don’t have to accept it, do you. So let me say right here, I’m straight… you can never have anyone straighter than me. If some people want to enjoy themselves through publicity, that’s left to them but I don’t care really. Do you and enjoy yourself but do it within the law and with respect to your neighbours.”

The Nigerian lawmaker further expressed concern over the unchecked influence of bloggers, urging the government to consider regulating platforms like Gistlover that, he argued, thrive on personal attacks and unfounded rumours.

Mr Ibu speaks after recuperating from poison in Abuja

Nigerian actor, John Okafor, aka Mr Ibu, has narrated how he was poisoned in Abuja last week at an entertainment event.

In his words: “I really cannot explain how I was poisoned because it was a gathering of people, though it was not a big event.”

Recall that Okafor was in the hospital after being poisoned for the third time in about three years.

Though he sounded weak, the actor maintained that he was getting better. He said, “I am recuperating, although I have neither worked out nor driven since I got ill.

“However, I intend to take a walk this (Friday) evening, because I am hopeful that I would get better. I am eating well now, and I’m prepared to go back on set any moment from now.”

Mr Ibu also bashed those soliciting for funds on his behalf without his consent.

He said, “Some people have sold me. They have not heard from me and all they want to do is ‘sell me’. But, their plans won’t work because God has raised me up.

“I am not begging anybody for money. My condition is not as critical as some people are making it seem. Anybody who has made it a point of duty to talk about my sickness and take advantage of it should stop. I am here (hospital) with my wife.

“I am not saying all my friends that are supposed to visit me and bring me money cannot do that. But, I have never asked anyone to beg people for money on my behalf. They should stop. If I want to die, I would let them know, since they seem to be so interested.”

Back in 2019, the actor had alleged that some members of his staff were paid by his kinsmen to kill him because of his successful career.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Actors Guild of Nigeria paid a visit to Ibu at the Zenith Medical Centre, Abuja, on Friday.
