    Nigerian artiste, Banky W undergoes surgery on skin cancer

    Popular Nigerian singer, Bankole Wellington,  known on stage as Banky W, has successfully undergone a Skin cancer surgery for the fourth time.

    The artiste cum politician made this known on his Instagram page on Thursday.

    According to the Ebute Metta crooner he chose to share the testimony online to encourage others who are passing through challenges.

    He wrote, “Final Score Christ 4 Cancer Tumors 0.

    “Sometimes, your faith in God will not prevent the storms from coming… but it will carry you through them. Faith won’t always stop you from hurting, but it will help you heal, and it will help you deal.

    “God never said the weapons wouldn’t form, He promised that they wouldn’t prosper. He never said the enemy wouldn’t come… He promised that when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of God would raise a standard against him.

    “Posting this testimony to encourage anyone out there who is going through a challenge. It might seem bigger than you, but greater is He that is in you than anything you will face in this world.”

    The singer appreciated his wife, family, friends, pastors, and doctors for their “love, prayers, and support”.

    He added, “We have the victory yet again. Now and forever, in Jesus’ name.”

    It would be  recalled  that Banky W had undergone a third cancer surgery in 2017.

    He had stated then that he treated a rare strain of skin cancer which resurfaced after it first appeared 10 years earlier.

    Gangsters shoot dead Nigerian artiste in America

    Gangsters in the United States of America (USA) have shot dead a Nigerian singer Osazuwa Agbonayinma known by his stage name, Zuwa

    Until his death Zuwa was an American-based Nigerian artiste.

    The singer’s father, a former Nigerian lawmaker, Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma confirmed the unfortunate incident to Channels TV on Tuesday.

     

    The former lawmaker stated that his late son was killed by a gun shot in the back of the head on Sunday.

    Details of the unfortunate incident are still sketchy at the moment.

    The late singer had a master’s degree in architecture.

    He formed the duo, Roze, with his brother, Eghosa, and released a couple of songs, including the critically acclaimed ‘Ileke’ in 2020.

    Nigeria’s rave of the moment, singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as  Asake, has recounted events that made  some people once took him “for granted”

    The singer said that because he was “too humble.” people took him for granted.

    In a video making the rounds on social media, Asake, while chatting with a group of friends, stated that it is better to be egoistic than to be “too humble,” as he emphasized that excessive humility often brings disrespect.

    Speaking from experience, Asake said that when someone is egoistic, people feel the person is inaccessible and place more value on the person.

    He said: “To me, humility is like a waste of time. People don’t appreciate it. At the end of the day, life is about your perception. That is how I think. It’s my world.

    “I’ve been around people, that I tried to let them say who I am but they didn’t appreciate it. As an artiste, if you come to somewhere, if you’re humble, they will take you for granted. But if you have ego, they feel like you’re not accessible so they will like you more. People would rather see what you’re doing than you showing them humility. So, just do what you need to do.”

    The house of popular Nigerian singer, Adekunle Temitope, better known as Small Doctor, has been gutted by fire.

    The fire incident was confirmed by the singer on his instagram page on Thursday.

    He stated that no life was lost, adding in Yoruba that when a king’s palace gets burnt, it only adds to its beauty.

    Small Doctor wrote in Pidgin, “No pressure for the Lord is with me. No life was lost. Ile Alaafin to jo, ewa lo bu kun. That is to say, king house wey burns na make beautification fit plenty. Iyanu mashele soonest. Mi o foh, I no break.”

    I once sold vegetables and fruits to earn a living – Nigerian female artiste, Ayra Star

    Beautiful Nigerian singer, Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has revealed that she once sold vegetables and fruits while living with her grandmother.

    Ayra Star made this known via her Instagram story recently, saying she was grateful for her progress.

    According to her, she exhibited her singing talent by serenading her customers while selling fruits and vegetables for her grandmum.

    She wrote, “[I] Will forever be grateful for where I am in life. God really blessed me.

    “6 years ago, this used to be me selling vegetables and fruits with my grandma, singing for whoever wanted to hear me. Now people are paying to watch me perform.”

    Ayra Star became very popular and hit startdom in the music industry when she released her debut eponymous extended play and its hit track ‘Away’, following her unveiling as Mavin Records’ artiste.

    Ayra Starr, is a Beninese-born Nigerian singer. She began a fashion career at the age of 16 with Quove Model Management before deciding to pursue a career in music.

    I’m battling a virus – Tiwa Savage cancels all shows till further notice

    Popular Nigerian artiste, Tiwa Savage has postponed all performances including her first ever headline arena show in London.

    According to Savage, she has been battling a virus for the past few weeks and was instructed to be “on strict vocal rest for the next few months”.

    The beautiful mother of one disclosed this in a statement released via her social media pages recently.

    The statement read, “To my dear Savage Soldiers, I’ve been fighting off a virus for the past few weeks and was today firmly instructed to be on strict vocal rest for the next few months.

    “I will unfortunately have to postpone all performances including my first ever headline arena show in London.

    “I’m heartbroken and devastated but I have to do this to save what’s left of my voice.

    “I’m so sorry. I love you all and promise to be back performing once I’m fully healed

    Nigerian singer, David Adeleke,  known  on stage as Davido, has revealed  how his wife, Chioma Rowland, initially turned down his romantic advances towards her.

    According to Davido, he first met Chioma when both of them were studying at Babcock University, Ilisan Remo  in Ogun state.

    The ‘Assurance’ crooner made this known while chatting with a Vlogger Tayo Aina on Sunday.

    He said it was love at first sight, adding that immediately he set his eyes on her, he asked one of his aides to call her for him but Chioma declined.

    He said, “I was in a Prado, and I looked behind and I saw this girl walking. Just there with her bag, it was Chioma.

    “I told Lati omo, I like that girl, go and call that girl for me. He called her but she did not answer me at the time.”

    The 30 Billion Gang head honcho, however, said Chioma later came to Lagos and they linked up.

    The couple got married shortly after the death of their son, Ifeanyi who drowned in a swimming pool at the singer’s Banana Island mansion last year.

    Nigerian Afropop singer, Adekunle Gold signs with Def Jam

    Nigerian Afropop singer, Adekunle Kosoko, professionally known as Adekunle Gold and AG Baby, is set to join the league of Nigerian artistes breaking grounds internationally.

    The “High” crooner has officially signed with a popular American music label, Def Jam Recordings, Billboard reports on Tuesday.

    This was made known in a statement by the company’s Chief Executive Officer/Chairman, Tunji Balogun.

    In the release, Balogun hailed Kosoko for his songwriting, artistry, vocals and showmanship.

    “I’ve been following Adekunle Gold since I first heard his record ‘Sade’ in 2016,” he said.

    Adding: “Over the years, everything in AG’s world has elevated- his songwriting has refined, the scope of his artistry has widened, his vocals have strengthened, his approach to fashion is more distinct, and his showmanship and performance ability have grown exponentially. He’s stepped into stardom on his own terms and is completely comfortable being his true self.”

    The CEO revealed that he had planned to bring Def Jam label into the Afrobeats space as soon as be started working at the label in 2022

    “Adekunle felt like the perfect fit – he’d already done so much work on his own to build a base, but I knew that we could scale his audience to an even bigger level if we combined our energies and worked together,” he continued.

    Gold also expressed excitement on signing with the label, and getting to work with Balogun especially with their shared Nigerian roots.

    “He understands it. So signing to Tunji makes sense. He’s like my studio buddy that just comes everywhere I go. The day he doesn’t have time to be there, I know he must’ve been like stupidly busy. He’s great.

    “The track record is there. The history is there. They break artists, and they have niche, unique artists like me, so I think it’s the right move for me. All of the things that I’ve done for myself already, they know already and that’s why they’re on board,” Gold said.

    Owned by Universal Music Group, Def Jam Recordings boasts of superstar alumni like Jay Z, Rihanna, and Kanye West.

    AG Baby, as he is also known, broke into the Nigerian music scene with his debut hit, “Sade”, in 2015. He signed his first record label deal with YBNL Nation in the same year, and released his debut studio album, “Gold”, in 2017.

    Two years after the deal expired, the father of one started his own label, Afro Urban Records. He thereafter released two albums, “About 30” in 2018 and “Catch Me If You can” in 2022.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Gold is set to release a new album under Def Jam in June, 2023.

    2022 World Cup: Nigeria’s Patoranking booked to thrill fans in Qatar

    Nigeria’s raggae artiste, Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, popularly known as Patoranking, has been penciled down among the artistes that will entertain fans at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

    According to information on FIFA’s website, Patoranking  will mount the stage on November 28 in Qatar.

    The Abule crooner  will perform at the Mundial alongside  DJ Aseel, Gims, Miami Band, Julian Marley and The Uprising, Myrath, Hassan Shakosh, and clean bandit.

    It would be recalled that multiple award-winning singer Davido was featured on the official World Cup soundtrack, alongside American star Trinidad Cardona and Qatari sensation Aisha.

    Already, Davido and Kizz Daniel are among Nigerian artistes  that have been penciled down to thrill fans at the mundial.

    The 2022 FIFA World Cup will run from November 20 to December 18 in eight venues across five cities in Qatar.

    Nigerian artiste, Harrysong arrested by police at the airport

    Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer, Harrison Tare Okiri, popularly  known as Harrysong, has been arrested and detained by the Lagos State Police Command.

    The Raggae Blues crooner was arrested on Tuesday in Lagos shortly after landing at the Muritala International Airport after returning from a trip, following petition sent to the Inspector General of Police IGP, Usman Baba-Alkali, by Nigerian music producer and artist manager, Soso Soberekon.

    Harrysong had in an interview called Soso Soberekon his enemy and wouldn’t mind having him killed in Port Harcourt.

    In his reaction, Soberekon on his Instagram page slammed Harrysong with a lawsuit. And demanded a retraction of the statement, an apology and N500,000,000 in compensation.

    According to Sobrekon he has always minded his business.

    He said  “As a matter of fact, I always mind my business, stay in my lane and put smiles on people’s faces. It is very disappointing that Harrysong will make such a false, reckless and defamatory statement.”

    The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest and said the artiste is being interrogated by the Police.
