Popular Nigerian comedian, Ali Baba evicted from his Lagos mansion

Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, the Veteran Nigerian comedian popularly known as Ali Baba has reportedly been evicted from his Victoria Island property in Lagos State.

TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that the 60-year-old comedian  was evicted alongside his company, XQZMOI TV, after a writ of possession signed by the Federal High Court on August 15, 2025.

In 2021, the federal government had sold the property to Ali Baba for N220 million through the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON.

According to AMCON, the property was sold to recover the debts allegedly owed by Harold Expansion Industries Nigeria Limited.

However, in a new twist of event, Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa, in his ruling on July 31, 2025, dismissed AMCON’s case, noting that the corporation failed to provide evidence of the alleged debt.

The court ordered that the property be returned to its original owner, and also imposed a N500 million fine in damages on AMCON.

It was gathered that  the comedian’s liability in the case came as a result of the timing he bought the property.

Ali Baba, who was a tenant of the property’s original owner before their eviction by AMCON, reportedly bought the property while the case was still in court, despite an existing preservation order.

I want to sell my Benz, Police extortion too much- Zicsaloma cries out

Zicsaloma, the Nigerian skit maker, has taken to social media to call out operatives of the Nigeria Police Force over extortion and harassment during routine checks on tinted glass permits in Lagos.

In a recent Instagram video, the content creator alleged that police operatives targeted him because he drove a Mercedes-Benz, insisting that youths with exotic cars are unfairly stereotyped.

Zicsaloma recounted how officers repeatedly stopped him despite holding a valid tinted glass permit issued by the police, it was dismissed as fake as they attempted to extort money from him.

He said, “I want to sell my Benz, not because I am broke, but because of the Nigerian Police. How can you people stop me more than five times in one day? Coming out from my house before that Ibrahim Tseya traffic light, the police there no be here (sic).

“They stopped me and jumped into my car. They said, ‘Let’s go to the station.’ I asked for what, and they said, ‘tinted permit. I showed them my tinted permit, and they said it was fake.

“I’m showing you a tinted permit from your website. I went to the mainland to capture it; they still claimed it was fake. I said, ‘No problem, let’s go.’ Getting to the station, they said, Let’s go behind.’ I asked why we can’t go into the station; no response. As I came down from the car, people started shouting, ‘Aloma, Aloma.’

“It’s like they noticed people knew me and I might not be that scammer, yahoo boy or fraudster they think I am, because I wore a cap and earrings. The next minute, they called an Oga from the Ajiwe police station, the one around Ajah to come outside the station to meet me, so the Oga came and realised a lot of people knew me, and he became careful and demanded we go into the station.

“To my greatest surprise, he started walking behind the station and trying to be jovial and saw that I was recording myself. He asked why I was recording and he would charge me, and I said, ‘No problem, let me go inside so you will charge me.’ Then he took me to the higher Oga, and that one said we are friends and then let me go,” he recounted.

Zicsaloma explained that the harassment continued at four more checkpoints on the same day.

He continued, “Heading towards the Ajah bridge, another set stopped me and said I should come down in the middle of the under Ajah bridge. Luckily, the other colleague knew me and said I should go because I am a comedian.

“Heading to VGC, another set stopped me. Let me see your papers.

“My papers are complete; it’s just because of the Benz I am driving. It’s not always Benz that can commit a crime.

“As it seems now, I may commit a crime with a small car, keep human head in a small corolla and may likely not get caught.

“Please, who wants my Benz? I am tired; the stopping is tiring and exhausting. That’s why I rarely drive my Benz,” he decided.

Woli Arole slams campus fellowship leaders over “First Fruit” foodstuff demands

Popular comedian-turned-prophet, Woli Arole, has criticized fellowship leaders in Nigerian universities for allegedly exploiting students by demanding food items as “first fruit” offerings.

Arole voiced his concerns in a post shared on his Instagram page on Monday, condemning what he described as a disturbing trend on campuses.

He expressed outrage over reports that some student fellowship leaders are now being addressed as “Papas” and “Mamas,” and are pressuring fellow students to donate foodstuffs in the name of spiritual obligation.

Reacting to the situation, Arole wrote, “I heard they are already calling you ‘Papa’ and ‘Mama’ in university because you’re a fellowship leader, and you’re also telling students to bring their foodstuffs as FIRST FRUIT. What nonsense!”

Arole, in a recent post  has criticised women who opt for surrogacy despite being physically capable of carrying a pregnancy.

Labeling such choices as influenced by misguided modern ideologies, Arole on Instagram, argued that bearing a child is a sacred blessing and part of God’s intended design for women.

He urged women to resist these contemporary pressures and embrace their natural role in childbirth.

Arole made an exception for cases where medical necessity, such as infertility or health complications, justifies the use of surrogacy or IVF.

However, he firmly opposed surrogacy as a personal preference, rejecting the idea that women can simply choose not to carry a child.

TheNewsGuru reports that the topic of surrogacy gained attention online after popular media personality Ife announced in an Instagram video that she is expecting her babies through surrogacy.

In the midst of online controversy, Wori Alore took to his Instagram page on Tuesday to express that it is a blessing for a woman to carry her baby in her womb, emphasizing that God has ordained this.

He acknowledged, however, that women with certain medical conditions may explore alternatives such as surrogacy, IVF, and other methods of having a baby.

The comedian urged people not to allow the influence of ‘wokeness’ to distract them from the value of motherhood, even in discussions about bodily autonomy.

He wrote, “Listen carefully. It is a blessing for a Woman to carry her baby in her womb. That’s how God wants it. Don’t let wokeness derail you. Unless for medical reasons, she can adopt options like Surrogacy, IVF and all.

“You can’t say my body, my decision. I don’t feel like carrying a child. I want surrogacy. No!! Your body is God’s Temple!!.

“Don’t let wokeness derail you. Your body is God’s temple. Surrogacy is not something you just choose!! There’s a reason God gave you a Womb”

Mr Macaroni gives reason why he cant be with a woman

Adebowale Adedayo, who is better known as Mr Macaroni, who is a Nigerian actor and content creator, has shared a touching story about his love life.

Featuring in a recent episode of the Dating In Lagos Show, hosted by Ariyiike Dimple, the skit maker revealed that he has been in love with a lady, but they can’t be with her due to some circumstances.

He shared that he still loves her despite the circumstances and their differences.

I’m a single pringle. I’m single and not searching. If you say dating in Lagos, for me, I can’t define it. But if it’s by what I have heard or what I’ve seen, dating in Lagos is chaotic, or better put, anarchy,” he said.

“I don’t have any personal experience when it comes to dating in Lagos because I’m not actively dating anymore. I’m not seeing anyone. My past relationship wasn’t even in Lagos. The time I really dated when I was in love, I was still in university then.

“I wouldn’t even say that in Lagos I actively dated anyone. It’s not that I’ve not been in love. There’s someone that I really loved and I still love her but there are a lot of circumstances that cannot allow us to be together, a lot of different tests. I don’t want to go into it.

“For me, what I think love to be… A lot of people think love is all about jolly good, shopping, spending money, taking pictures. What I think is that both parties always just look for the best things to always attach to them. I strongly believe in perseverance. And this is not a story of you have to suffer with your partner. You don’t necessarily need to suffer to be in a relationship. That is not what I mean. What I mean by that is, it’s not always jolly. When you understand that and the moment you know that you love a person. When you say you love a person, you are willing to commit yourself 100 per cent.

“But long before he passed, I had already forgiven him. He was sick from 2021 till he passed; I and my siblings were taking care of him. And I was taking care of him with all the love. I didn’t struggle to take care of him,” Bovi said.
