According to the 46-year-old entertainer during a chat with journalists at the premiere of his first feature film ‘A Ghetto Love Story,‘ his decision was a necessary sacrifice to preserve his artistic integrity.

“So I felt like I was adulterating the art, I felt bad about it and I had to stop. So if I am doing a private gig, I be doing standup comedy, not the MC.

My wife took it out and burnt it. Prior to that day, I always doubted people who said God spoke to them.

“I was awakened from my sleep around 5 am on the 3rd March by a voice that told me to write down what I was hearing. I wrote them, and when my eyes cleared and I read what I wrote, I turned and told my wife that she was pregnant. She doubted it until days later when we confirmed.

“Fast forward, we had my daughter and on the day of her dedication, a prophet told me God has removed what they were using to monitor me in my home and that the person would never step in my house again. The person hasn’t stepped a foot in my house ever again, no matter my invitations. @OfficialArole was another person God used for me. I am ever grateful for him.

“My darling daughter is my evidence of God being our own in my home. My mother’s mini copy. They almost killed her in the womb, but God said no. They mocked her after she was born, but God has given her beauty for their ashes. To God Almighty I return all the glory. Aye o nimu wa o. Amen.”

  • Women dominate the Entertainment industry- Bovi

Women dominate the Entertainment industry- Bovi

Nigerian comedian and actor Bovi Ugboma has claimed that women are currently the powerhouse of the Nigerian entertainment industry.

The veteran comedian, during a recent feature on TVC programme, ‘Your View’,  disclosed that women are making significant strides in the industry.

While highlighting the role of women, Bovi stated that women sometimes complain of inequality even in sectors of which they are already dominating. They spoke on Women’s opportunities and their fight for equality in the entertainment field.

He said, “Women need to understand that in areas where they are fighting for equality, sometimes, they may have conquered, but because they are used to fighting [for equality], they don’t know that they’ve won.

“You talk about the entertainment industry and how it can help women. But I observed 10 or 15 years ago that women actually control the entertainment industry. So what are we talking about?

“I’m talking as far back as from the time of Amaka Igwe. The biggest box office hit is a woman, Funke Akindele. The second biggest box office hit is also a woman, Mo Abudu. They [women] are the biggest producers. Bolanle Austin-Peters is one of the biggest producers. Jade Osibero is one of the biggest directors since Kemi Adetiba. The biggest film festival is by Chioma Ode. So what are you saying?

“We also have the likes of Omoni Oboli, Uche Jombo, Genevieve Nnaji. So you need to understand that, women are running the entertainment industry. So when I see young girls complaining about male producers demanding sex for roles, I’m like, ‘yes, it’s true. But who have you cried to? Who have you spoken to? You [women] own the industry.”

  • ‘How popular Nigerian singer lavished N1.5billion in weeks’

‘How popular Nigerian singer lavished N1.5billion in weeks’

Popular comedian, Ali Baba has narrated how a popular Nigerian singer lavished over 1.5 billion on a frivolous lifestyle in weeks.

The veteran, in a lengthy podcast with Eden Oasis recounted how the musician, who he refused to name, performed in Dubai and was paid N400 million.

He added that the singer, who performed at another International event with a pay of over N500 million, went on a lavishing spree, buying exotic cars, such as Maybach, and expensive jewelry.

According to the ace comedian, in less than six weeks, the musician had spent over 1.5 billion.

Alibaba highlighted the potential success the musician could have achieved if he had invested the money in a profitable venture. He could have  built a studio that would attract artists and generate enough income to afford anything he desired.

He added that the artist married recently and rented a hall where he could have built his own.

He said, “I told a musician, a very top musician, if he hears this he would know he is the one I am talking about. He went to play in Dubai; they paid him nearly N400 million; he went to play in another International event, and they paid him about N500 million.

“The next thing, he has a Maybach, has another car and goes on a spree with jewelry and all other things. And in less than two to six months, he has done about 1.5 billion. He would have bought land, done an event, and put a powerful studio upstairs. People will come there and shoot and do their music thing, and the venue will bring enough money to buy anything he wants to buy. Then it was time for him to get married, and he had to use a hall. But if he had built the hall, he wouldn’t have needed to spend the money for the hall.

“Asake wanted to do his concert in London. He applied to a bank and says, “I need a loan of 1 billion, I want to organize a concert in London. They wouldn’t give him because he is an Asake right? A car dealer goes to the bank and says, “he wants to import 12 cars”, they would give him the money, he would bring the cars in and put it in the shop. He can’t sell them in one week. The cars will be in the shop for sometimes six months, one year, he still hasn’t sold some of those cars. Asake’s concert is one day, he will make two billion”.

  • Knocking a kid is a violent, criminal act – Bovi calls out Catholic Priest for knocking altar boy

Knocking a kid is a violent, criminal act – Bovi calls out Catholic Priest for knocking altar boy

Veteran Nigerian comedian, Bovi has taken to social media to call out a Catholic Priest for knocking one of his altar boys.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) recalls that a video shared online showed the moment a priest officiating a wedding ceremony knocked the altar boy, assisting him for not holding the microphone close enough to the groom’s mouth well.

The video sparked outrage on social media and the priest have since apologized.

Reacting, Bovi, via his Instagram page on Friday expressed dismay at the rate at which most firms of abuse go unchecked in Nigeria.

The father and comedian noted how the Priest unprovoked, hit a defenceless child for a very flimsy reason, questioning what the Priest would have done if the boy had done something grievous.

He further pondered what the Priest could do behind closed doors if he couldn’t even control himself publicly.

The comedian avowed that knocking a child in the head unprovoked is a violent and criminal act as he questioned why the police hadn’t invited the man.

The post reads: “I’ve been trying to ignore this video like it never happened but after watching the apology video this morning, I’m more livid and miffed at the rate at which most forms of abuse go unchecked in Nigeria.

“In the poorly staged apology video, the Priest described his actions as a “normal correction” and “a minor correction.” He was even encouraged by another apology from an adult, who I couldn’t tell who he was exactly, that he would have blamed the Priest if he hadn’t done that.

“He hit a defenseless child. He humiliated that child. He harmed that child’s confidence. He hit the head of the child for a very flimsy reason. Now imagine when that child does something really wrong.

“A priest who couldn’t control himself in public. Take a moment to think about what he’s capable of doing behind closed doors. If we think this is normal behavior, then we are all abnormal.

“Knocking a kid in the head unprovoked is a violent and criminal act. @nigerianpolice why haven’t you invited this man? If you fight for one child, you will be saving very many others. We must prevent and put out small fires before we all get consumed.

“In a society where a virgin priest who preaches the teachings of Jesus uses physical harm to convey his unprocessed emotions, there is bound to be doom. We’re probably in hell already”.
