  • Vietnam Court sentences Nigerian man to 18 years imprisonment over import scam

A Southern Vietnam court has sentenced a Nigerian to 18 years in prison over a fake customs enforcement scam, state media reported on Friday.

Michael Ikechukwu Leonard, 45, was convicted on Thursday of “deceiving others to steal their assets” in a scam which targeted wealthy Vietnamese women.

The court in Can Tho city determined that Leonard gained his victims’ trust on messaging apps, using various alter egos, including a U.S. army officer.

The convict was said to have promised to send his victims valuable presents, including laptops and jewellery from the U.S.
Local accomplices, Huynh Ha Binh, Huynh Ha Uyen and Nguyen Tran Quynh Nhi would then contact the women, claiming to be customs agents and demand fees or fines for the non-existent shipments.

They successfully conned a woman in Can Tho out of 28,500 dollars, leading to their arrest.

It is unclear how many women were duped by the gang in total.

Leonard’s accomplices received sentences ranging from 12 to 15 years.

Nigerian man swallows $90,000 concealed in condoms

Nigerian man has been arrested in eastern France after being found with condoms stuffed with 79,000 euros ($90,000) hidden in his stomach, customs officials said Monday.

The man, arrested Saturday in Strasbourg, had another 13,000 Swiss francs (11,900 euros, $13,500) concealed in his clothes, the officials said.

The man told customs agents that he lived in Spain and worked as a dishwasher at a restaurant in the Balearic Islands.

But a sniffer dog detected marijuana on the banknotes hidden in his clothing.

That led to an X-ray that revealed the presence of nine condoms stuffed with bank notes in the man’s intestines.

He has been charged with laundering drug money and lying to customs authorities.

  • Video: German inspectors forcefully drag Nigerian man out of train

Inspectors of the S-Bahn Munich in Germany pulled a 48-year-old Nigerian from the train by force. The two ticket inspectors of the Deutsche Bahn German train system were caught on camera savagely dragging the Nigerian man out of a train after he reportedly refused to provide his ID and pay a fine for not having a ticket.

The man could be seen vehemently clinging on metal handrails, as two men in uniform ferociously battle to get him out of the suburban S-Bahn train, headed to Munich city center from the airport.

Natalia Miletic who filmed the incident and posted it on Facebook, can be heard telling the inspectors:

“It’s absolutely not OK what you’re doing, the guy didn’t do anything to you.”“You should be ashamed of yourself, this is racism what you’re doing,”. “Why are you doing this? He paid.”

The woman continues filming until someone seemingly tries to stop her.

The man, said to be a 48-year-old Nigerian, was reportedly removed from the train at Leuchtenbergring station.

He appeared to have no valid ticket as the inspectors came up to him during the check. They then asked him to show an ID card and pay a €60 fine ($68), according to the witness who filmed the incident and later described it to HuffingtonPost.de.

The man, however, only had €9 in cash, which he reportedly needed for food. The inspectors collected the €9, saying he still owed the rest.

Deutsche Bahn, the company operating trains in Germany, said it was “unusual to receive only partial payments,” commenting on the incident later.

Photos: Nigerian man arrested in Kenya for allegedly raping 19-year-old beauty queen

A Nigerian man arrested in Kenya has denied raping current Miss United States International University Africa (USIU).
The suspect identified as Daniel Entony Daberechukwu denied raping the campus beauty queen, Nneka Enyantu Obi, who is also a Nigerian. She was crowned on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Thika Road Mall Convention Centre.
Daberechukwu is said to have committed the offence on March 19 after the complainant attended a friend’s birthday party at Thika Road Mall, Nairobi, where the accused was in attendance.
Police allege that all the friends in attendance were drinking alcohol and enjoying the music until 11pm when they switched clubs around the campus. The court heard that around 1.30am, the complainant and Daniel left for the hostel.
It is then that Daniel allegedly offered to escort the complainant to her room since she was too drunk. Police allege that Daberechukwu started kissing the complainant along the corridors and instead of taking her to the room, he took her to his room.
She woke up to find herself on his bed, while Daniel was on the floor. It wasn’t until she reached her room that she realized her panty was missing and her privates were in pain.
Daniel has since denied the charge and was set free on Sh500,000 bond and ordered to deposit his passport in court. The matter came for hearing on June 9.

  • India Airport: 90 Capsules of cocaine found in Nigerian man’s stomach

India Airport: 90 Capsules of cocaine found in Nigerian man’s stomach

The Nigerian man, identified as Okonkwo M Tony, was apprehended after he landed at the airport from Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa.

Tony was found with 90 capsules of cocaine in his stomach and was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) Delhi, India, by Narcotics Control Bureau sleuths, on Monday, February 6th.

Tony was admitted to a hospital by the sleuths of the Delhi Zonal unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

Officials said he has ejected 90 cocaine-filled capsules weighing 1.3kg in two days. They said Tony had initially misled the sleuths saying he had come to India for business purpose while carrying a tourist visa.

He was admitted to a hospital and after medical intervention, he ejected the drug-filled capsules. He told investigators that he had swallowed these at a guest house in Lagos and then reached Addis Ababa via Lome (Togo). He was apprehended as soon as he landed here from the Ethiopian capital,” an official said.

The officials claimed Tony was supposed to hand over the drug capsules to another Nigerian national here, whom the agency has been trailing.

Tony has been arrested under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

This is the fourth case of seizure of cocaine by the NCB in Delhi in the last one month.
They said the method of smuggling after swallowing the drug is not easy to detect as it is hard to identify any concealment inside the body
