    24-year-old Nigerian man kills business partner over N500k loan

    A 24-year-old man identified as Yunusa Isa, who killed his business partner, Lawan Adamu, over a N500,000 loan, has been arrested by the Yobe State Police Command. 

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) learnt that 28-year-old Lawan was discovered brutally murdered on Sunday, September 15, 2024, on the outskirts of Nayi Nawa bypass in Damaturu.

    At the scene, Adamu’s dead body was found with deep throat cuts and multiple stab wounds with the instrument used for the attack.

     Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the suspect initially denied involvement in the murder, but upon intense interrogation by State CID Detectives, he confessed to the crime.

    The statement reads: Recall that, On September 16, 2024, the ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters apprehended Yunus Isa, 24, of Shago Tara, Nayi Nawa Ward, for allegedly k!lling Lawan Adamu.

     “Initially, the suspect denied involvement despite overwhelming circumstantial evidence. However, following intense interrogation by State CID detectives, Yunus Isa confessed to the crime.

     “Investigation revealed that Lawan Adamu was his employer and business partner in the engine oil trade.

     “He borrowed N500,000 from Adamu last year with a profit-sharing agreement.

     “However, when he failed to meet the agreement terms, Adamu demanded repayment.

     “Isa callously m8rdered Lawan Adamu to avoid repaying the debt, k!lling him in cold blood.

     “The swift resolution of this case demonstrates our commitment to justice and public safety.”

    Police officer who rough-handled elderly woman in viral video, arrested

    The Nigerian Police, Lagos Command has arrested a police officer for manhandling an elderly woman  in Alagbado area of the state.

    According to a statement, by the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, an investigation into circumstances that led to the altercation captured in viral video has also begun.

    It would be recalled that a video circulating on social media showed an officer inside an elderly woman’s car manhandling her in the first week of September.

    Hundeyin noted that the police inspector and his supervising deputy superintendent of Police have been brought in for questioning while the Complaint Response Unit has established contact with the woman in the video.

    “The command condemns the unprofessional conduct of the Inspector as it does not represent the ethics and operational standards of the Nigeria Police Force.

    “The command equally assures Lagosians that the investigation will be swift, thorough and conclusive.

    “We will ensure that the officers are disciplined as appropriate and members of the public are updated accordingly,” the image maker said.

    NIGERIA is currently under siege from assorted criminals. Lately, there has been a new trend of assailants attacking and kidnapping citizens for ransom purposes but killing the victims despite  payment by their loved ones.

    Below are recent cases of Nigerians who fell victims to these murderous assailants, who despite collecting ransom from the victim’s family, killed them.

    Anas Zubairu

    19-year-old Anas Zubairu was killed during captivity after his abductors collected a ransom of 17m from his family. Zubairu was abducted around the Project Quarters area of the Lafia metropolis on Friday, August 23, 2024, but killed days after his family paid a whooping N17m for his release. 

    Confirming the incident in a Facebook post on Sunday, September 1, 2024, a friend of the deceased, Abdullahi Musa Aboki wrote: “In loving memory of my dear friend Anas, whose life was brutally taken by kidnappers despite our collective efforts to save him. The ransom was paid, but their hearts were stone-cold. Your senseless m8rder has left us with unbearable pain and a deep sense of injustice. Your bright smile, kind heart, and infectious laughter were extinguished too soon. May your soul find peace, and may those responsible face the full weight of justice. Your memory will never fade, and your legacy will live on in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Anas.”

     

    Sunny Taxman

    A popular businessman identified as Sunny Taxman was reportedly killed by his abductor after a 10m ransom was paid.

    According to an Enugu media personality, Sen Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, the deceased, who is from Alor Agu in Igbo Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State but based in Onitsha, was killed after his family paid a ten million ransom.

    Sharing a photo of the deceased, Ugwuanyi wrote: “He is from Alor Agu Town in Igbo Eze South LGA.

    “He is a businessman based in Onitsha.

    “They Kidnapped him at Onitsha, demanded for Ransom and above 10 million Naira was paid to the kidnappers.

    Still they killed him.”

    Christiana Idowu

    A  300-level student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Christiana Idowu, was kidnapped and killed after her family paid a ransom of 350 000 naira.

    Idowu, was abducted by Ayomide, a male friend, who demanded a sum of three million Naira as a ransom from her family before they could release her.

    Christiana had left her home to the University of Lagos in the Yaba area, where she was observing her industrial training when the kidnappers abducted her.

    The abductors then reached out to the deceased family, demanding a ransom of three million before she could be released.

    After several appeals from the family, the abductors agreed that a sum of N350,000 be paid to a specific account, which the family paid. Still, the abductors refused to release her despite the payment.

    A male suspect, Ayomide Adeleye, was arrested in connection with the murder and handed to the police. 

    Rose Eneojoh

    Unlike the others, Rose Eneojoh’s case is different, as the Gunmen were hired to kill the victim.

     A family member, Charles Umoru, confirmed the incident in a Facebook post on Wednesday, where he disclosed that Eneojoh was brutally murdered on Tuesday night, September 10, 2024, at Etikpolo Anyigba. 

    According to him, the deceased offered the killers the same amount to spare her life. 

     The killers took the money and still shot her dead.

     “This innocent woman, Mrs. Rose Eneojoh – wife to my brother inlaw was gruesomely murdered last night at Etikpolo Anyigba. The kill.ers told her and her husband that they were paid 200,000 Naira to ass.assinate her. She offered them more money in exchange for her life, they took the money from them and still went ahead to shoot her, leaving the husband and 5 young Children in misery. How long should this continue in Igala Land?, he wrote.

    The spokesperson of the Delta state police command, Bright Edafe has queried parents who keep their mentally challenged children in their homes.

     According to Edafe via the microblogging platform, X formerly Twitter on Wednesday, such children in most of the cases, he had witnessed, end up killing their parents.

    So this young man of 25 years, allegedly killed his mum with an axe and set her body ablaze, then made away with her Sienna vehicle,” the police spokesman in Delta said on Wednesday on X.

    “Rumour has it that the suspect might be mentally deranged. Well, that’s for the court and medical doctors to determine,”Edafe added.

    The police officer noted that, however, “Why keep a child who has a mental issue at home instead of a psychiatric home?”

    He pointed out that “oftentimes, these mentally deranged children end up killing their parents and the people who have been pampering and taking care of them.”

    Top Nigerian police commissioner, Ayilara dies of prostate cancer

    The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, is dead.

    According to reports, the Commissioner passed away in the early hours of Thursday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.

    It is understood he underwent prostate cancer surgery on Wednesday before he died hours later.

    “We are very sad to inform you that our friend, brother, and family, the Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, Waheed Ayilara, is dead,” the family was quoted as saying.

    In November 2023, as a DCP, Ayilara was unveiled as the acting Commissioner of Police in Lagos.

    The former Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, took over from AIG Idowu Owohunwa.

    A top police officer in Akwa Ibom State, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, also confirmed the CP’s death.

    Police confirms arrest of popular social media whistle-blower, PIDOM

    The Nigerian Police has confirmed the arrest of a popular Nigerian whistleblower known as PIDOMNIGERIA.

    TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports the Nigeria Police-National Cybercrime Center (NPF-NCCC) arrested whistleblower, PIDOM,  who operates under the username “99% Oppressed” on social media.

    PIDOM  is renowned for exposing corruption by leaking sensitive documents related to the federal government, security agencies, state governments, and private companies.

    His disappearance from social media was first highlighted by fellow investigative journalist David Hundeyin, who raised concerns about the whistleblower’s safety.

    Confirming his arrest, Muyiwa Adejobi, the public relations officer (PRO) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), in a statement, stated that the journalist was arrested on allegations of committing severe offences that undermine the integrity of government operations.

    The statement reads; “NIGERIA POLICE ARREST SUSPECT INVOLVED IN DOCUMENT LEAKS, SUBVERSIVE ACTIVITIES.

    “As more intricate Investigations Commence

    “In a well-coordinated effort, officials from the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) apprehended Bristol Isaac Tamunobiefiri, also known as PIDOM, on allegations of committing serious offenses that undermine the integrity of government operations. The arrest took place on August 5, 2024, in his hotel room Rivers State.

    “There are several allegations levelled against the suspect, including unlawful possession, leakages of classified documents, cyber related offences, and others. We will do due diligence in carrying out thorough investigation into the cases.

    “The force will leave no stone unturned to continually enforce the law and bequeath to Nigerians a more secure nation.”

    Sokoto youths, police clash over brutal death of abducted Emir of Gobir

    The residents in Sabon Birni, on Thursday clashed with the Nigerian Police Force over the brutal killing of the District Head of Gatawa District in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Bawa by bandits who kidnapped him earlier.

    In the video that surfaced on social media, aggrieved youths are seen on street rioting and burning tyres to express their grievances, which led to a clash between them and police officers who tried to quell the riot.

    Recall Alhaji Bawa was recently abducted by suspected gunmen alongside his son. The district head died after he had undergone severe torture and beating by the gunmen suspected to be bandits, 25 days after he was abducted.

    The abductors of the traditional ruler earlier demanded 900 million, later reduced to 500 million as ransom, the amount that was not raised by his family or the state government before his untimely death in the hands of his captors on Wednesday.

    The abductors of the district head further reduced the ransom to 60 million Naira and six motorcycles, which was later paid and the suspected gunmen released the son, who is currently hospitalized.

    Last Tuesday, the abductors released a video clip in which the late traditional ruler was seen pleading with the Sokoto State Government and Sultanate Council to help secure his release from captivity.

    The late Sokoto monarch was attacked and kidnapped along the Sokoto-Sabon Birni road on July 29 after attending a meeting of traditional rulers in Sokoto, the State capital.

    Tragedy strikes as truck crushes motorcyclist to death In Osun

    A tragic incident occurred Tuesday morning in Osun as a truck loaded with sharp sand crushed a   commercial motorcyclist to death.

    The spokesperson of Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident that occurred along East By-Pass via Fountain University.

    According to Opalola, “One life was lost,”  she also added that an NSCDC officer involved in the accident was taken to hospital.

    It was gathered that the truck was attempting to join another lane, when it jammed the motorcyclist who was conveying a security operative.

    An eyewitness called Samuel explained that “the bike man who was carrying an operative of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) was coming from Africa area going toward Ilesa garage and the truck was coming from Ilesa garage area lane.

    “The truck wanted to join the lane going toward Ilesa garage, that was when the driver crushed the motorcyclist. It was like a head-on collision.”

    He continued, “The commercial motorcyclist died immediately and the NSCDC man was injured.”

    Security operatives on Sunday rescued a yet-to-be-identified young man who was tied to the back of a trailer by the Truck driver and conductor in Ughelli, Delta State.

    According to the young man’s narration, the truck driver had tied him to the truck with a rope as a form of punishment because he, the young man,  sneaked into the vehicle for a free ride from Port Harcourt, Rivers State to Ughelli without the driver’s consent.

    Thankfully, police officers from Ewreni Police Station, under A Division Ughelli, during a routine check, intercepted the truck and rescued the man. When questioned by the police, the young man admitted that he sneaked into the car without permission.

    Katsina: Police reacts to viral video of Officer killed with armoured tank during hunger protest

    The Katsina State Police Command has dismissed the claims alleging that its officers was run over by a police water armoured tank.

    This comes after a viral video of a police armored tank captured dispersing a sparse number of protesters participating against the ongoing #hunger protest in the state ‘ran over a policeman’.

    The affected ‘policeman’, dressed in green uniform, wielding a weapon, was captured in a pool of blood, lying on the ground as onlookers surrounded him in an attempt to resuscitate him.

    The X handler @DEGEO7 had captioned the video: “In the peak of unprofessionalism, a careless policeman killed his colleague and harmed civilians in Katsina.”

    Reacting, the state police spokesperson, Aliyu on Saturday said the Nigeria Police Force does not have any record of such incident.

    The Katsina police spokesperson said, “First of all, that is not a policeman from the way he is dressed and we do not also have such a dress code in the police.

    “Secondly, the way things went on Thursday, during the protest, it is expected to see a heavy presence of security.

    “So, I do not see where a policeman would be lying motionless and the security personnel would not come to their rescue at that particular moment.

    “In a nutshell, that incident did not happen in Katsina. It was a mischievous attempt to undermine the efforts of security agencies, particularly the police command in Katsina because we didn’t record any incident like that.”
