    See photos of police inspector who killed popular musician, Igbo-Jah

    The Enugu State police command on Saturday released photos of the officer who allegedly murdered popular traditional Ogene musician Okezie Chikezie Mba, better known as Igbo-Jah.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) earlier reports that the musician was murdered around 8:10pm on October 25 at the Tactical Squad’s Headquarters.

    The police identified the officer as Inspector Ozonwanji Joseph.

    According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, “Insp Ozonwanji has been identified as responsible for the shooting.

    “He is currently in custody and will be made to face the full weight of the law upon the conclusion of the investigation.”

    Meanwhile the state Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, in company of top officials of the State Government, visited the family of the deceased singer.

    The commissioner reassured the deceased singer’s family that a full-scale investigation that will facilitate prompt and appropriate disciplinary actions against the police officers is currently on-going.

    The CP emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force remains a disciplined organization where erring police officers are made to face the consequences of their actions to serve as deterrence to others.

    He restated his sympathy and empathy to everyone affected by the unfortunate and callous murder of the musician, urging all and sundry to keep faith with the police while justice is done to the case.

    The Nigeria Police Force on Saturday condemned the unauthorized use of its official uniforms and accoutrements by popular social media critic, Martins Otse, popularly known as “VDM.”

    TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that Verydarkman, earlier today caused a buzz on social media with a new video in which he introduced himself as the Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) online division. 

    VDM who was spotted in an outfit similar to the Nigerian Police uniform, warned people against referring to him as an activist.

    Addressing himself as CSP, the social media sensation disclosed that he is dedicated to sanitising the social media space, speaking against injustice in the country and coming for online vendors. 

    Reacting to the video, the force via social media disassociates itself from the unauthorized portrayal of its outfit, adding that it has launched a full investigation to determine the source of the Police gear used, as well as the authority under which he acted. 

    The statement added, “It is important to remind the public that the unauthorized use of Police uniforms, insignia, or accoutrements constitutes a criminal offense, as stipulated in Section 251 of the Criminal Code Law and Section 133 of the Penal Code Law, and is subject to strict penalties.

    “While the Nigeria Police Force recognizes and supports the creativity of young Nigerians in the content creation space, we strongly caution against the misuse of Police uniforms or symbols. Unauthorized use of these items undermines the values and integrity of the Force and will not be tolerated.”

    Man who fell into a canal while being pursued by policemen, dies

    The middle-aged Nigerian man simply identified as Bidemi who became unconscious after he fell inside a canal while allegedly being chased by operatives of the Nigerian police, has died.

    TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that Bidemi was rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital following the incident that occurred at Federal bus stop, Ipaja Ayobo axis of the State.

    According to the lady who shared the story via the microblogging platform, X formerly known as Twitter, the victim was her friend’s husband.

    She further posted a gory video showing the moment the man’s unconscious body was pulled out from the canal by residents of the area and staff of the Lagos State Fire Service. 

    According to the lady, a group of yet-to-be identified officers profiled the victim as a Yahoo boy because of his tattoo and he decided to run after the officers corked their guns. He was reportedly chased until he fell into the canal.

    She alleged that eyewitnesses claim the officers made away with the victim’s money and shoes.

    She captioned the video, ‘’Yesterday morning,police chased my friend’s husband till he fell into the canal,they took his slippers and money that fell and left when people started shouting. This happened at federal bus stop,ipaja Ayobo axis 

    “He is currently unconscious at Lasuth @BenHundeyin @PoliceNG.’’

    However, in an update shared this morning, the X user who reported the incident said the man d!ed in the early hours of today October 18.

    She wrote: “He has given up! Yet to tell the wife as of now. NIGERIAN POLICE! NIGERIAN POLICE!! NIGERIAN POLICE!!!.”

    Police gives fresh update on Jigawa tanker explosion

    No fewer than 105 people in total have been confirmed dead following a petrol tanker explosion in Majiya town, in Taura Local government area of Jigawa State on Tuesday.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) earlier reports that the Police Spokesperson in Jigawa, Mr Shi’isu Adam, confirmed on Wednesday that 50 persons have been hospitalized for various injuries due to the explosion.

    It would be recalled that the incident happened at around 12:30 am on Wednesday, with the tanker said to have fallen, making villagers scoop fuel before the explosion.

    In the latest interview, Adam said the casualty number has increased to 105, with 55 sustaining various degrees of injuries and were hospitalized at Ringim General Hospital.

    He said, “As I am talking to you now, the casualty figure is about 105 and the number of injured is 55 as against the 50 earlier confirmed.”

    Adam said the incident occurred at about 11:30 pm on Tuesday in Majia Town when the tanker driver lost control near Khadija University.

    According to him, the tanker left Kano on its way to Nguru town in Yobe State when the tanker driver eventually lost control of the vehicle, and it exploded.

    21 feared dead in Lagos boat collision

    No more than 21 passengers feared dead after after two boats collide in Imore town, within the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) gathered that the incident occurred when two boats, each carrying 16 passengers, collided mid-lagoon, causing both vessels to capsize.

    Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a press statement on Tuesday disclosed that the Ilashe police division received a report of the accident around 7 pm.

    Emergency responders, including marine police and local divers, quickly arrived at the scene, managing to rescue 11 passengers who sustained injuries.

    These survivors were immediately transported to the Naval Hospital in Navy Town, Alakija, for medical treatment.

    According to the statement, “On October 7, 2024, at about 7 pm, a distress call was received at the Ilashe Division reporting that two unregistered passenger boats, each carrying 16 passengers, allegedly collided in the middle of the lagoon at Imore town. As a result, the boats capsized, and the passengers drowned along with their goods.

    “Based on the report, teams of conventional and marine policemen, local divers, and other emergency responders were swiftly mobilised to the scene, where 11 passengers were rescued with injuries and rushed to the Naval Hospital in Navy Town, Alakija, for medical attention.”

    Man who tied Abuja hotel victim transfered to FCT Police

    The Nigerian Police on Monday confirmed the handover of a man, Joseph Efe, who tied up an alleged hookup girl in a hotel in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

    It would be recalled that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC FCT commandant Olusola Odumosu on Friday paraded the 30-year-old man who was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the alleged kidnapping robbery and attempted murder of one Olivia Chukwuemeka.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that a day after Efe’s arrest, the FCT Police demanded the transfer of the suspect.

    Efe had reportedly confined his victim to a room and gagged her with her legs and hands tied with tape in Top View Hotel, Wuse, allegedly for ritual purposes.

    The police, in its statement reiterated their commitment to collaborating with other relevant security agencies in efforts against crime and criminality within the FCT.

    Man destroying graves and stealing iron rods, nabbed

    A 21-year-old Dauda Saidu has been arrested by operatives of Bauchi State Police Command for trespassing and stealing metal rods from graves in a Christian cemetery in the Yelwan Kagadama area of the state.

    The Police Superintendent, Ahmed Wakili, in a statement on Sunday disclosed that Saidu was apprehended on Friday after damaging several graves and removing iron rods for the purpose of selling them.

    Saidu was said to have confessed to the crimes, upon interrogation, admitting he had stolen multiple iron rods and sold them to scrap metal buyers in separate transactions.

    The sales reportedly netted him amounts of N9,500, N12,000, and N5,500.

    Saidu also uses the proceeds for selling the metal, to purchase an undisclosed quantity of marijuana (Indian hemp) and food items for personal consumption.

    The statement reads in part, “Following interrogation, Dauda Saidu confessed to the offences, admitting to stealing multiple iron rods and selling them to scrap metal buyers in separate transactions, amounting to N9,500, N12,000, and N5,500, respectively.

    “Dauda Saidu also disclosed that the proceeds were used to purchase an undisclosed quantity of Indian hemp and food items for personal consumption.

    “CP Auwal Musa Muhammad has instructed that Dauda Saidu be prosecuted following the conclusion of the investigation.

    “Additionally, he emphasised the importance of parental supervision and urged parents and guardians to be vigilant in monitoring their children and wards.”

    Nigerian award-winning artist David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has publicly disagreed with a message by the police to Edo voters.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Frank Mba, overseeing security in the ongoing Edo State gubernatorial election, had urged the voters to go home immediately after casting their ballots.

    During an interview with Channels Television on Saturday morning, Mba advised  Edo residents to cast their votes and then return home immediately after they are done.

    He also announced a restriction on vehicular movement in the state from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on election day.

    Mba stated, “If you’re not accredited to participate in the election, you shouldn’t be on the streets. Cast your vote and return home; it’s your civic duty.”

    Reacting to the statement, Davido, who is affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed disagreement with the directive.

    Reacting to the video via his X account, the singer wrote, “Lol, go where.”

    In another post, he wrote: “Bruh, @inecnigeria, fix up we cant continue like this, wtf.”

    Olivia Ijeoma Chukwuemeka, the young lady who was recently seen in a viral video stripped and tied to a chair at the Top View hotel in Abuja, has shared a terrifying experience in the hands of a suspected ritualist and fraudster, Joseph Efe.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reported that the Nigerian Police confirmed a young man identified as Efe on Thursday allegedly kidnapped a young lady and kept her in the popular Top View Hotel, Wuse, Abuja.

    Narrating her ordeal to newsmen, Olivia admitted that she met the suspect on a hookup site called “coded site.”

    She said, ”I met the suspect some months ago. I live in Enugu but visit Abuja for other business reasons, When I got to the hotel, the suspect asked me if I was afraid of death.

    “He said if I cooperate with him he will not hurt me like other girls. He said his friend was outside and if I made any wrong move, he injected me with something.

    “I pleaded with him, he sl@pped me and asked me to str!p my clothes. I tried to get to the door but it was locked by him and he held the keys.”

    She added that the suspect had tied her hands with her dress, after stripping her off her clothes.

    “He turned the television volume very high and blocked my mouth with a handkerchief,”she added

    She further said that he stole her phone, unlocked it, forced her thumb on the screen and asked for her bank account details.

     She said after unlocking the phone, he discovered that she didn’t have money in the account.

    “He warned me not to make any noise and left the room.

    “I later noticed movement outside the door and saw the colour of the uniform the person was wearing and was relieved that it was the hotel staff.

    “I struggled and dragged myself to the window and banged it hard. Luckily, the guy heard me and I made a sign pointing in the direction the suspect went,” she said.

    According to Olusola Odumosu, the FCT commandant, of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FCT Command, the suspect specialises in luring ladies on dating sites called ‘coded runs’ with the intent to rob them of their phones and making withdrawal from his victims’ bank accounts.

    The suspect during his confession, said that he met the victim on a “h00kup site” before inviting her to the hotel.

    Two women who paid N150,000 for sale of twins, arraigned in Lagos

    Two female suspects have been arrested by the operatives of the Lagos State Police Command over conspiracy and child sales.

    The command spokesperson, Ben Hundeyin, in a statement on Friday, identified the suspects as Ujunwa Una and Chinelo Igbechionwu.

    According to the statement, the suspects were arrested by patrol officers from the Ojodu Division stationed at Berger bus stop after a good Samaritan raised the alarm, calling the attention of the officers.

    The statement said, “The suspects were found with two newborn baby girls, approximately six days old, while travelling from Abia State on September 9, 2024.

    “Investigations revealed that the suspects were en route to deliver the babies to one nurse in Lagos State whom the mother of the babies promised to link them up with only after they had arrived Lagos.

    “Upon questioning, the suspects confessed to the crime, stating that they were paid the sum of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (₦150,000) for transportation of the babies to Lagos.

    “The suspects added that the mother of the babies sold the babies because she could not give them proper care.

    “The case was transferred to the Gender Unit of the Command from where the newborns were placed in the custody of a motherless babies home for proper care and medical evaluation.

    “While investigation is ongoing to arrest other conspirators, the arrested suspects were arraigned on Thursday, September 19, 2024.”
