    Popular Nigerian singer nabbed for poisoning girlfriend to death

    A Nigerian singer identified as OG 1Savage has been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly poisoning his girlfriend, Rachel Kosichukwu to death after she visited him in his home in Iyana Isolo, Lagos.

    TheNewsGuru reports that Benjamin Hundeyin, the state’s police spokesperson disclosed that the incident occurred on Sunday, January 26.

    According to Hundeyin, Kosichukwu had gone to visit the suspect and had requested for water, which he gave her, only for her to start complaining of stomach ache and was rushed but she unfortunately died before getting to the hospital.

    Rachel’s sister who chose to remain anonymous, stated that, “My sister went to visit her boyfriend whom she met on Facebook after he had promised to give her a phone.

    “When she returned, she started complaining of severe stomach ache. I then asked if she ate anything, she said no but she drank water at her boyfriend’s place.

    “I started massaging her stomach because she was pregnant but the pain intensified. This made me rush her to the hospital.

    “The first hospital we got to, rejected which made us go to another hospital. But unfortunately she died on our way to the second hospital.”

    CSP Benjamin assured everyone that the culprit have been arrested, although he denied poisoning Rachel.

    The police spokesperson finally stated that and once investigations are still ongoing so as to get to the root of the matter.

    The death of Rachel Kosichukwu makes her the 14th confirmed victim of femicide in Nigeria this year.

    Tems cancels Rwanda show, cites tension in DR Congo

    Nigerian singer and songwriter, Temilade Openiyi, professionally known as Tems has cancelled her ‘Born in the Wild’ tour stop in Kigali, Rwanda, originally scheduled for March 22, 2025.

    The Grammy-winning singer made this know via the microblogging platform, X formerly Twitter, where she noted that the cancellation was due to the ongoing tension between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

    TheNewsGuru reports that Rwanda is currently backing the M23 group, which recently took control of Goma in the mineral-rich eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

    The songtress apologised for promoting the show, adding that she was unaware of the conflict between both nations.

    She wrote: “So I recently promoted my show in Rwanda without realising that there is ongoing conflict between Rwanda and Congo. I never ever intend to be insensitive to real-world issues, and I sincerely apologize if this came across that way.

    “I simply had no idea this was going on. My heart goes out to those affected. Conflict is no joke and I truly hope and pray for peace in this time.”

    ‘They must pay me for violating my human rights’ – Speed Darlington

    Controversial Nigerian singer Speed Darlington, has demanded ₦300 million in compensation from the Nigerian police for violating his human rights.

    TheNewsGuru reports  reports that the singer, whose real name is Darlington Achakpo, via his Instagram page made this known whilst thanking one of his lawyers, David Ihuoma, who serves under another of his attorney, Stan Alieke.

    According to Speed Darlington, David, who’s one of his big lawyers played a big role in his case with his confidence in speaking against corruption. He added that, because the police had detained him despite a court order , they will pay him for the violation.

    He said, “This is Mazi David Ihuoma. One of my big lawyers who played a big role in my case and continued to play, his confidence is 10/10. Even the police attested to his confidence and his forceful way, always reminding them that the police are corrupt and they know it.

    “They were supposed to let me go, and they were still holding me against the court order.  Thank you Mazi David Ihuoma Esq. We going all the way! They must pay me for violating my human right 300 million naira. We will drag them more than Stanley, and I dragged that bank that violated me two years ago.”

    Speed Darlington regains freedom after two months in custody

    Nigerian singer, Darlington Achakpo better known as Speed Darlington, has regained freedom after spending two months behind bars.

    TheNewsGuru reports that the controversial singer was arrested on November 27 while performing at a show in Owerri, Imo State, over allegations of cyberstalking Grammy award-winning musician Burna Boy.

    The singer’s detention comes after his colleague Burna Boy filed a petition against him, for using social media to question the authenticity of his Grammy award, linking the A-list artiste to embattled music mogul Sean Combs, known as P Diddy or Puff Daddy.

    He suggested that Burna Boy may have had a sexual relationship with the American music executive.

    However, Darlington’s lawyer, Stan Alieke on Tuesday evening, announced his release via Instagram, with photos of the singers.

    Alieke expressed the legal team’s commitment to seek justice for Darlington, while claiming his client’s fundamental human rights had been violated by the Nigeria Police Force.

    “We will ensure Darlington gets justice for his fundamental human rights, which were deprived of him by the Nigerian Police Force.

    “Delighted to announce that our client, Mr Darlington Achakpo Aka Speed Darlington (Akpi) has regained his freedom after two months of illegal incarceration,” he wrote.

    “For the record, as his team of lawyers, we will be exploring every angle of the law to ensure that he gets justice for his fundamental human right which was deprived of him by the Nigerian Police Force and for the unfair/ unjust treatment he was subjected to,” Alieke wrote.

    Last week, the Federal High Court in Abuja granted Darlington bail in the sum of N20 million with one surety.

    The judge, Ekerete Akpan, ruled that the surety must be a level 10 civil servant residing in Abuja and must provide an affidavit of means.

    The court adjourned the case until March 18 for trial, where Darlington will face a two-count charge related to alleged cybercrime.

    However, his legal team vowed to fight the case and seek redress for what they describe as an infringement on his rights.

    Afrobeat star singer, Davido has expressed sadness over the loss of his customized diamond ring worth ₦26 million.

    TheNewsGuru reports that this was revealed by his jeweler, Ice By CW, who shared conversations with the singer, where he disclosed that the diamond ring fell into the ocean while he was in Jamaica.

    In the screenshots that surfaced on social media, the singer who told jeweler he wanted another one, noted that the missing ring was his favourite.

    When asked if he wanted the same design, the 30BG boss clarified that he wanted a bigger one.

    Mohbad’s brother addresses Yomi Fabiyi’s claim of knowing cause of late singer’s death

    The brother of the late singer Mohbad, Adura Aloba has addressed the claims by Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi that he requested for three million to share the cause of his brother’s death.

    TheNewsGuru reports that Yomi Fabiyi, during a recent press conference, claimed that late singer, Mohbad’s brother, Adura, offered to give him a video of the singer and his wife, Wunmi, fighting before his death.

    The movie star alleged that the video captured the moment Wunmi pushed Mohbad down the stairs and broke his neck, which could be linked to why the singer’s neck was bent in the casket.

    Speaking in his defence in a press conference on Friday, Adura dismissed the allegations, asserting that he neither created the video nor demanded money for it.

    Firstly, I do not have much to say. This thing is in court already. So I do not need to say much. I cannot know about my brother’s death and keep quiet all these days. I am now so surprised. This video we are talking about is like three years ago. And I was not the one that did the video, it was Moh himself on the phone I sold to Damola. And the video was on that phone.

    “I was the one who chatted Mr Yomi. And I had tried to make him understand. (Facing Fabiyi) You were invited and they told you who was chatting with you. And you insisted on the TikTok live. I saw everything on the TikTok live.

    “Mohbad did the video and it was on his phone for more than three years ago… When I sold the phone to Damola, about a week later, I started seeing his messages with Mr Yomi.”

    Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage has reacted to concerns over a video of herself swimming with sharks.

    TheNewsGuru reports that the 44-year-old songstress sparked concerns on social media after she shared a video of herself swimming underwater with  marine creatures, including sharks whilst wearing an oxygen mask.

    According to her, swimming underwater with sharks was on her bucket list, and she has ticked it off.

    She wrote: “Swimming with sharks #bucketList.”

    However, fans expressed worry  for the singer as they feared that she may be  attacked by sharks

    Responding to concerns, Tiwa via her Instagram story on Wednesday, asked her fans not to be worried about her decision to swim with sharks.

    She noted that the ‘sharks’ in the music industry are more dangerous than those in water.

    She wrote, “Everyone worried about me swimming with sharks, but the ones in this music industry are more fucking dangerous”.

    Nigerian singer Davido disclosed that his father, Nigerian business magnate Adedeji Adeleke, bought his music contract because he wanted him to keep 100 percent of his work.

    The spectacular singer made this known whilst reacting to a post by entertainment talent manager, Tosin Ashafa, who revealed via a post on the microblogging platform, X, that Davido’s father reached out to them and bought out the contract Davido signed with them.

     He wrote, “I signed @davido to his 1st official contract under Black Diamond Promotions with Cecil Hammond/another silent partner. We hired @GodwinTom to manage him. Dr. Adeleke realized David was really serious with pushing his music without him, reached out to us, and bought us out.”

    Reacting, Davido disclosed that his father wanted him to keep 100 percent of his work, even though the contract was a good one.

    He wrote, “Lmao I remember this day. No I signed the contract in 2011 … was a good contract not bad ! But daddy wanted me to have 100 percent of whatever I was doing ! Especially after I played him first cut of Dami duro video in his office ! He knew it was game time!!! So much respect to you guys for allowing me walk!! Just know u were part of something that turned out to be phenomenal!!”

    The father of the late singer, Ilerioluwa, better known as Mohbad, Joseph Aloba, has revealed that his life improved after the death of his son.

    Aloba made this known during in an interview with a media personality, Akin Abolade, popularly known as Mrlilgaga, on Wednesday.

    He said, “Let me just say yes, my life got better after Mohbad’s death because he is my friend. He had it in plan to do many things for me but they didn’t allow him to do them. After his death, it was the spirit of Mohbad, and that of God combined together that began to send people to assist me.

    “Even the car and everything I have now, it was people that gave them to me and it is beyond ordinary. So it is the spirit of Mohbad and God that led those people to give me all I have now.

    “Those were the things he was meant to be doing for me, but they didn’t allow him to do them.”

    Mohbad’s father, while clarifying insinuations towards those accused, noted that he was laying emphasis on his son’s wife (Wunmi) and her family, adding, “They did a lot concerning that boy (Mohbad). All his landed property is in their possession. Even the land he bought for me to build a church, I forced him to buy and mold the blocks on it, which was later used to bury him.

    “Two weeks before his death, he took me to the house he wanted to buy and told me he was going to buy it after the completion of his tour, for which I know he had completely paid.”

    According to the singer, the producer in appreciation, came to his house to hand him $20,000.

    Davido further expressed how happy he was to see that there are still good people in the world, as he noted how being appreciated feels good.

    “A certain producer/writer I started working with from Timeless. Finally, he got his publishing check, came to my house, handed me 20 thousand dollars, and said Baba, I thank you. Happy to see there are still good people in this world! Being appreciated sure feels good! Love you, brother!”.
