    Davido to gift orphanages, charity homes 300 million ahead of birthday

    Nigerian singer David Adedeji Adeleke popularly known as Davido has announced that he will donate money to orphanages and charity homes to commemorate his 32nd birthday.

    In a recent development, the singer went on X to share with his fans that he would donate to orphanages and charity homes that help the young avoid drug abuse addiction.

    He stated that the amount would be N300 million and would release more details soon.

    Davido wrote: “Once again my birthday this year we Donating to ophanages and a charity that helps young people stay away from drug abuse & addiction. This year is N300m . Details to follow soon .” 

    In 2021, the singer donated the sum of N250 million to 292 orphanages in celebration of his 29th birthday.

    Davido is regarded as one of the most important Afrobeats artists of the 21st century and helped popularize the genre globally.

    Nigerian singer, Daniel Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has announced the death of his mother-in-law.

    Taking to the micro-blogging platform X, formerly Twitter, the ‘Buga’ crooner on Friday revealed that his wife just lost her mother to breast cancer, and he is mourning with her.

     He further urged his fans to say a prayer for the deceased.

    “My wife lost her mom to breast cancer, and I’m here mourning with her. Say a prayer for her mom, Vaddicts,” he wrote

    Davido launches football club in Lagos

    Afrobeats singer, Davido has entered the world of football by launching his team, 30BG FC, which will play in the Lagos Liga.

    TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that the football club has been registered to compete in Nigeria’s premier private football league, Lagos Liga, which is scheduled to kick off in December 2024.

    Davido is ready to take the football field by putting his new club against other celebrity clubs and business moguls.

    The singer is already eyeing some star-studded matches, and fans are already picking sides on social media.

    30BG SC will compete alongside other teams in the league, including those owned by Dbanj and Don Jazzy.

    Lagos Liga, a Nigerian premier private football league, announced 30BG Sports Club’s unveiling on its Instagram page.

    The post reads, “With Davido bringing his energy into Lagos Liga 2024, we have great assurance that if opponents are not careful, there is a timeless promise they could fall because this competition just got risky,” 

    “THE WAIT IS OVER! Introducing 30BG Sports Club to Lagos Liga 2024. The 001 has landed.”

    Nigerian singer, Tems breaks global record with latest achievement

    Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems has earned another RIAA platinum plaque after setting a new benchmark in the US music industry as the most certified female artist in the US.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that her song ‘Found,’ featuring Brent Faiyaz, recently sold one million copies in the US, qualifying it for the award. The song  also surpassed 119 million streams on Spotify, making it one of her most listened-to tracks.

    The track is part of her second EP, ‘If Orange Was A Place,’ released in 2021. It became a popular song after the songstress rose to fame with her exceptional performance on Wizkid’s hit ‘Essence.’

    With her latest achievement, she now has three platinum certifications for ‘Wait For U’ in which she featured Future, ‘Found’ and ‘Free Mind’.

    This achievement made her the first Nigerian female artist to have an RIAA gold-certified album. She joins Rema and Wizkid as the only Nigerian artists with RIAA-certified projects, including Rema’s ‘Raves & Roses’ and Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos’, both of which are also RIAA gold-certified.

    Enough of the negativity – Peter Okoye replies twin brother over song theft allegation

    Peter Okoye of the defunct music group, Psquare, has reacted to song theft allegation levelled against him by his twin brother, Paul Okoye, aka Rudeboy.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Rudeboy via Instagram had accused his brother, Peter and their former producer Vampire, of stealing his song, ‘Winning’.

    He claimed that he wrote and sang  which was supposed to be released with his album next year. To his surprise, Mr P released the same song by the same producer.

    However, reacting to the allegation via an Instagram post, Mr P stated that it was impossible to steal what belongs to him.

    He revealed that Ogbogu ‘Calypso’ Chijioke was the original composer and that he also contributed to the song. He said the song was part of the tracks in the album Psquare was supposed to release.

    Mr P alleged that his twin brother has been “trying to tarnish my image” since their split. “Enough of the negativity,” he also declared, emphasising his desire to focus on his music and business without drama.

    The world needs to know the truth. Every time he is always trying to tarnish my name,” he said in the Instagram video.

    “Maybe because I was not posting anything music related on my social media page for over 4 months. He believes I have lost interest in music. I took a breather to get my mind and head in the right space and when that was done, my epiphany was WINNING!

    “My prayer is that we all win, I want it for us all, I am in a good place mentally and creatively now, allow me enjoy and celebrate my wins big and small. I celebrate you and yours too!

    “Enough of the negativity! All want to do is release my music, conduct my business and live my life in peace…not every time drama.”

    Grammy Award 2025: Nigerian Afrobeats star, Burna Boy makes history

    Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy has made history as the first African artist to be nominated for Grammy for six years consecutively.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Burna Boy’s hit song, ‘Higher’, is nominated in the Best African Music Performance category at the 2025 Grammys.

    The ‘African Giant’ crooner has earned back to back Grammy nominations since 2018, which is actually rare in the African music industry.

    Burna has gathered a total of 11 nominations, winning just one.

    The Nigerian songstress, Tems on the other hand is the Nigerian artist with the most nominations at the 67th Grammys. The singer  was nominated in three categories.

    Tems received nominations in the Best Global Music Album, Best African Music Performance and Best R&B Song categories for ‘Born In The Wild’, ‘Love Me Jeje’, and ‘Burning’.

    Nigerian music star, Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi has separated from his record label Dapper Music.

    The singer left the record label following an earlier speculations about his departure from the label, which propelled him to stardom in 2023.

    However, quick checks into Shallipopi’s social media accounts shows that he has pulled down Dapper Music’s name from his profile and has stopped following the label’s boss.

    This recent development signalled the start of his independent music journey and record label launch, Plutomania Records, which features Zerry DL and Tega Boi as its main artists.

    Shallipopi’s exit from his record label is coming a couple of months after Seyi Vibez left the label.

    Nigerian singer and songwriter Michael Adebayo Olayinka, also known as Ruger, has disclosed the reason he’s getting booked for shows more than his colleagues in the music industry.

    According to the singer via the microblogging platform, X formerly Twitter, he does not just perform his songs but also showcases his personality on stage.

    Ruger also pointed out that a singer can have millions of hit songs and still not know what to do on stage. “Let me explain to you why I get booked so much. I don’t come on stage to sing (of which I know l’m so good at) I bring my whole fucking personality on stage it’s not a joke. It’s not by having hit songs  you can have a million hit songs and still be clueless on stage at a 200-capacity venue.” He wrote on his X handle.

    The ‘Bae Bae’ crooner credited his ability to combine his energy and showmanship alongside his personality for making him a sought after performer. “I bring my entire personality on stage, and that’s what makes my fans love me and always want to watch me perform,” he stated.

    Afrobeat star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has come under criticism for casting his first-ever vote in a United States election.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the award-winning artist andAwukecrooner via X.com disclosed that he joined millions of Americans to vote on Tuesday’s US presidential election, choosing between Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump.

    Davido shared a picture of himself displaying his I’m a Georgia voter. I secured my vote!”

    In another post, the singer via his verified handle urged American citizens to stay safe as they exercised their voting rights, saying, Election day 🇱🇷 y’all be safe as you perform your constitutional rights.”

    Reacting, some South Africans slammed the singer for voting in the US elections but not in the 2023 general elections held in Nigeria last year.

    Matthew George wrote: “Nigerians are a special people, they vote everywhere but in their own country”

    Another user,  Bidden wrote:  “He’s lying, he picked that sticker from trash bin.”

    Nigerian music star Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, and his wife Ivy Ifeoma have officially welcomed their first child in the United States. 

    In an Instagram post on Friday morning, the singer shared a video of his other children bonding with the newborn, whose identity he revealed as ‘Imani Ugomma Okoye’.

    Sharing the video, the singer disclosed that the past month has been a joyous period in their lives.

    “This past month and few days have been the most joyous and overwhelming sweetest ever period of our lives. #pricelessmemories,’’ he wrote

    The news follows rumours that surfaced in October about the couple expecting their first child after their low-key wedding.

    This new addition makes it Paul Okoye’s fourth child, as he already has three children from his previous marriage to Anita Okoye.
