  • Thrills, frills of Niniola’s ‘Human Radio Concert’

    Lagos gathered at the Landmark Event Center yesterday, November 9th, in anticipation of a great night, and that’s exactly what they got at Niniola’s Human Radio Concert.

     

    The concert kicked off with DJ Crowd Kontroller and DJ DIPS warming up the crowd with an impressive mix of old and new school hits. Shody The Turn Up King and Larry Foreman were the host of the evening, and did an amazing job ensuring everyone’s energy was at optimum level as they introduced the artistes

     

     

    The opening acts were an interesting mix of voices in the industry such as Tyson Noir, Immaculate, Ric Hassani, Okiemute, GreyC, and heavy weights like Slimcase, L.A.X and Reminisce.

     

    With the crowd sufficiently hyped, it was time for the main act of the evening. Niniola’s entrance was as dramatic as it was majestic. Talking drums and a short play by her dancers welcomed the Queen of AfroHouse and vocal sensation unto the stage. Niniola started her set by serenading the audience with some of her more famous love songs such as ’Oyin’, ’Moyo’, and ’Akara Oyibo’. She then eased into a fans favorite ’Start All Over’, the soulful duet featuring Johnny Drille. Following that, the audience was treated to a dance break that paid homage to Nigeria’s famous dance crazes.

     

    Niniola returned to the stage ready to turn up with ‘Jigi Jigi’, cuing a few of her dance hits such as Soke, and Shaba, and a surprise appearance by Terry Apala who joined her in performing Bale. For the finale, Niniola thrilled the audience with a Yoruba ceremony style performance, complete with talking drums, improvised lyrics, and traditional dances from Ekiti as she performed Gbowode. She followed this with Saro, Maradona, and Bana, inviting fans from the audience to join her on stage.

  • I had a major challenge with funds when I started – Niniola

    Afro-house singer and reality TV star, Niniola has revealed that when she started out in music, she had to grapple with the absence of funds.
    Niniola recounted her pains and journey to the top, in a recent chat with Thisday.
    Hear her:” I have found a way to make a mark and inspire a lot of lives, being able to take the African sound across borders. When you hit milestones and you are thankful for each day you see, you do not talk about the challenges, you only think about the challenges when they are ongoing but when you pass them, you will be like ‘oh thank God,’ then you celebrate. Of course, challenges were truly there when I started; I had major challenges with funding my project but then God made a way, my mum was really supportive”, the Ibadi singer revealed.
     
    Niniola who is elder sister to singer and viral sensation, Teni has said she open to working on a song with Teniola
    “Teni and I will definitely give you guys something. I was welcomed by other people so welcoming her was never a problem, its actually good company. As kids, we used to sing together and do other things but when she travelled out of the country for her tertiary education, we couldn’t do all that again. Right now, we still call each other and talk about music every now and then”.

    The AfroHouse singer released her debut album ‘This is me’ in November 2017 to critical acclaim with Maradona leading the trend with over 1.7 million streams on Spotify.

     

    The music streaming platform, which measures artiste popularity with listenership has solidified Niniola’s music as staple among music lovers crowning her with the coveted title of the most popular Nigerian female artiste.

     

    Niniola is a singer and songwriter with a vocal range that can calm frayed nerves.

    Her debut album ‘This is me’ has songs like Saro, Magun, Maradona and Sicker which has been receiving a lot of airplay and topping charts.

     

  • Niniola laments over poor’ Headies’ performance

    Afro-pop singer, Niniola Apata has expressed her regret over her poor performance at the Headies award night held yesterday.

    The singer confessed that she had not practised with the band as she had just returned from a trip to Owerri.

    In a series of revelatory tweets, she gave reasons why her performance was below her expected standard.

     

    According to her:” “I honestly was not going to address this issue but I was very firmly convinced within me that I owed each and every one of you a detailed explanation on why I had a performance that was far below the usual expectation of my performances.

     

    “I had flown in from Owerri after a performance yesterday (the evening of the Headies), to grace the Award event that has served as a platform for us as entertainers and I unfortunately could not rehearse with the Band or even work on any performance set for the Show.

     

    “I am thankful to everyone that messaged and called to enquire about my performance at the Headies Awards. It shows a clear understanding of the typical nature of my stagecraft.

     

    “I promptly informed the organizers that I would not be performing as I am very particular about my Brand and the performance delivery I give to my friends and supporters that have helped my career to the point that it is today.”

  • How I got the inspiration for ‘Maradona’-Niniola

    Nigerian singer, Niniola Apata aka Niniola is no doubt making waves with her latest hit, ‘Maradona.’

    The third runner-up for the sixth season of Project Fame in a chat with TheNewsGuru TV revealed how she got the inspiration for her hit song, Maradona.

     

    Maradona is an afropop song which is a metaphor for a cheating lover.

     

    According to her: “The inspiration for Maradona came from God. As usual before I do anything in the studio , I pray to God to make the inspiration juice flow so that my lyrics will compliment the beat”

     

     

    On how Fela inspires her, the talented vocalist said: “I remember watching his videos as a child . What got my attention were the dancers and the way they do their hips dance.

     

    She once said in an interview that her most embarrassing moment was when she farted in the midst of people.

    6 .Aramide

    Aramide pours her heart into her music. She sings like a suitor ready to win the heart of his bride. So at the just concluded AFRIMA Awards, Aramide further won my heart when she clinched the award for Best Female Artiste, West Africa. A lot of people are of the opinion that she doesn’t deserve it because she isn’t exactly a mainstream artiste like the Tiwa Savage’s or Yemi Alade’s.

    Her Funmi Lowo song is also one of the biggest songs of 2016. At AFRIMA 2016, she won the award for the Best Female Artiste West Africa .All hail queen Aramide
