    Nollywood actress Nkechi Nweje laid to rest amid tears in Anambra

    Nkechi Nweje, a veteran Nollywood actress has been buried in Anambra amid tears.

    The 60-years -old was buried at her hometown of Onitsha, Anambra State, after a night of tribute was hosted in honor of the late actress

    Videos that emerged online show moments from the ongoing funeral ceremony in Onitsha as friends and family members could not hold back tears as they bid farewell to the late thespian.

    The venue was surrounded by dignitaries, especially, a former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who was also present at the funeral.

    Among actors seen at the event went, Ngozi Ezeonu, Ebele Okaro, Stanley Ontop and Chief Imo

    Nkechi Nweje died on March 21 following complications from abdominal surgery she underwent in November 2024.

    Initially believed to be recovering, her condition deteriorated in the days leading to her death.

    The family of late Nollywood actress Nkechi Nweje has announced her burial details following her sudden death on March 21.

    TheNewsGuru reports that veteran actress Rita Edochie via her Instagram page on Friday confirmed the burial arrangements with a photo of the funeral poster.

    She captioned the post, “With heavy heart I bring to you my sister-in-law actress Nkechi Nweje’s official burial arrangement. Courtesy: The family. Please check the poster and be guided. This is so sad, but God Almighty knows the best.

    “Chaiiiiiiiiiii so 23rd of May 2025 I will cease to see Nkechi Nweje? 

    “But Nk, nwannem, this wasn’t our plan for 2025.
    Greetings great lovers of Rita Edochie.
    Have a great weekend ”

    The poster, signed by her husband, Azubuike Nweje, reveals that the funeral service and interment will take place on Friday, May 23, at 1C Obeleagu Street, off Awka Road, Onitsha, Anambra State.

    The service is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m, while a reception will follow at Eze Chima Primary School, also along Awka Road in Onitsha.

    Popular Nollywood legend, Nkechi Nweje is dead

    Popular Nollywood actress, Nkechi Newje has reportedly passed away.

    TheNewsGuru reports that the actress died on Friday morning, after struggling with a yet to be disclosed illness for some time.

    Reacting, the late actress’ colleagues and friends took to their individual social media pages to mourn her painful demise.

    Veteran Nollywood actress, Rita Edochie, via her Instagram on Friday shared a candle light with a dark background. She captioned the photo: “This world is really not our home.”

    Taking to social media, friends of the actress, sorrowfully mourned her demise.

    One Buchi Dortmund wrote: “Today, my heart is heavy with sorrow as i say goodbye to my dear sister. Words cannot capture the depth of this pain, nor can they fullyy express the love  i have for her. Rest in peace Ezigbo Mrrs Nkechi Newje.”

    Asa Ikuku wrote: “Rest in peace mummy Nkwechi Nweje TV(Nwanyi Onisha) You are indeed a bllessing to us. But God knows the best. We will miss u so much great nollywood actress. rest on legend.”

    Lilian Mma faith: “Madam Nkechi Nweje, Aka Nwanyi  onitsha, i read from her supposed friend that she has been sick for a while and just died at the verge of recovery. This is not good! No wonder she has became scare on screen. Kai! Goodnight nwanyi oma Onitsha, Onwu amaghi eme!”
