NNPP disowns Gov. AbdulRazaq’s new appointees

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) says the three newly appointed special aides by Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara are not its members.

The state Chairman of the party, Malam AbdulSalam AbdulRazaq, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Ilorin on Thursday.

Recall that AbdulRazaq recently appointed four members of the NNPP as his Special Advisers as redemption of his inclusive governance.

But the party chairman asserted that the appointees were not known to the NNPP in the state.

“The appointments were not routed through the party, as there was no nomination or input from the party members and executives.

“The state leaders of the party observed that the persons who benefited from the appointment are ‘Talban group members’ and not NNPP.

“The party noted that moves by the former gubernatorial candidate of the party, Prof. Shuaibu AbdulRaheem, was a one-man arrangement and not in the interest of the party,” he said.

The chairman revealed that during the built up to the just concluded general election, there were negotiations from different contestants and parties to join forces with NNPP, which the party turned down.

“NNPP in Kwara is not collapsing its structures with APC or any political party.

“We remain focused and also call on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to lift bans on local government elections as soon as possible, as NNPP is fully prepared to fill candidates in all 16 local government areas of the state,” the statement read in part.

INEC fraudulently allocated numbers to Tinubu – Kwankwaso

The New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP), presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has posited that the alleged fraud committed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) led to the emergence of Bola Tinubu as the winner.

The Kano-born politician noted that INEC fraudulently allocated votes to Tinubu during the just-concluded presidential election in the country.

Kwanwkaso made his position known during an interview with BBC Hausa Service on Sunday in Kano.

According to him, Nigerians no longer loved the All Progressives Congress, (APC)

He noted that the NNPP has a bright future because “big politicians” are interested in the party.

Kwankwaso said : “Another interesting thing is that more people, particularly big politicians, are seriously indicating interest in our party, and they are willing to make necessary contributions to move the party forward. Take a look at our rivals, particularly the PDP.

“They are in a serious crisis, particularly as it concerns its leaders. In Kano State, some thought PDP will be of help to them, or game changer, but they were disappointed woefully. Same with the APC.

“All these votes you see INEC mentioned were fraudulently allocated to its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu. The truth is that Nigerians don’t like APC anymore, hence our party is the one that has the future.”

He said that they have since directed their lawyers to prepare legal actions against the outcome of the election that was marred by irregularities and heavy rigging.

The prayer was attended by several islamic leaders of different sects with some APC stakeholders and cabinet members.

The Independent National Electoral Commission  (INEC)  declared Abba Kabir Yusuf of the NNPP as  the winner of Kano guber  with 1,019,602 votes against his closest rival, APC’s candidate, Nasir Gawuna, who polled 890,705 votes.

FCT: NNPP Senatorial candidate rejects outcome of NASS election

The  New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has rejected the outcome of the National Assembly elections in the Federal Capital Territory and proceeded to the tribunal to seek redress.

The party alleged that the process that produced Ireti Kingibe, the candidate of the Labour of Party (LP) as Senator-elect for the FCT was marred by irregularities.

Mr Mubarak Tijjani, the NNPP’s party senatorial candidate in the FCT, said this at a news conference held in Abuja, on Thursday.

Recall that on Feb. 25, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Mrs Ireti Kingibe of the LP as the winner of the FCT Senate seat.

Ireti scored 202,175 votes to emerge winner, adding that Sen. Philip Aduda of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and incumbent senator came second with 100,544 votes.

“Mr  Angulu Dobi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) placed third with 78,905 votes.”

Tijjani claimed that the election was marred by irregularities ranging from over voting and the omission of NNPP’s logo from the ballot paper.

“We were sabotaged; all our efforts were sabotaged and undermined.

“I’m not trying to throw allegations but it is clear to everybody in FCT that LP and the INEC have played some certain role of sabotaging our efforts in NNPP.

“Our logo was changed on the ballot paper, which was something that has caused NNPP a great loss in the 2023 general elections that we will never forget.

“That is why I’m challenging the result that brought Ireti Kingibe as the Senator-elect. This is not a true democracy. Democracy did not play doing the 2023 general election,” he said.

Tijjani also said that the Agent’s tag for his party was not provided..

“A day to the election, they told us they forgot to print the entire tags for FCT.

“We were trying to improvise, the following morning we saw other party agents with their tags.

“By the time our agents who had trained to protect their votes, came to their polling units to do their assignment, they were only sent away by other party agents.

“We are highly disappointed in LP and we are not going to relent. We have to seek for justice not just for ourselves, for our people, for our supporters but for our democracy,” he said.

Taraba Guber Polls: NNPP heads to court

Prof. Sani Yahaya, the governorship candidate of New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) in Taraba, has rejected the outcome of the gubernatorial election in the state.

Yahaya told journalists in Jalingo on Tuesday that he would challenge the result of the governorship election in court.

According to him, there are overwhelming evidence of electoral malpractice in the election that gave victory to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kefas Agbum.

Yahaya urged his supporters and the people of the state to stay calm and eschew violence, assuring that the NNPP won the election and would reclaim its mandate through legal means.

He appreciated the people for their love and support throughout the electioneering process.

“Yesterday’s announcement and declaration of a candidate does not mean an end to the election process.

“The process continues in line with the guidelines. Taraba is used to enduring injustice by writing fictitious results. Luckily, the Electoral Act as amended has made provisions for all results to be reviewed.

“We are confident that the victory is ours. We would challenge the result through every legal means and claim our victory.

“Our victory is certain and we would retain it. I call on Taraba people to stay calm. We would challenge the results because I am the duly elected governor of Taraba State.

“That mandate cannot be stolen. We have initiated the process and we are on course,” he said.

Ogun guber: INEC in trouble for omitting party’s name

Mr Olufemi Oguntoyinbo, the Governorship candidate of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Ogun, has threatened legal action against INEC over omission of his party’s name on the ballot papers used for Saturday election.

Oguntoyinbo made his intention known in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Sunday.

Oguntoyinbo cast his vote on Saturday in Ofada, Obafemi/ Owode Local Government area of Ogun.

“By the grace of God, we are going to court to challenge INEC on why they failed to put our party’s name on the ballot papers. I’m disappointed in INEC,” he said.

Oguntoyinbo, however, described the omission of his party’s name on the ballot papers, as “a ploy to rob me and the party victory in the just conducted governorship and State Assembly elections”.

He said that apart from omitting the party’s name from the ballot papers, the election was marred by manipulations and irregularities.

Oguntoyinbo accused APC and PDP of intimidating and harassing his supporters, as well inducing the electorate through vote-buying.

He said that the party had earlier written a letter to INEC to ensure inclusion of his party’s name on the ballot papers, instead of only the logo.

According to him, INEC in its wisdom decided to rob the party of victory by refusing to correct the error, hence, the need to challenge it constitutionally by going to court.

“On the ballot paper, I cannot see my party, the NNPP. After writing to INEC to make amendment before the election, but to our surprise, we could not find the name, but only the logo.

“In spite of this, there was no security during the election in my polling unit, where I cast my vote, as the APC gathered hoodlums to attack me.

“I’m so disappointed that people can’t move around freely to the extent that they were dragging guns with my security,” he said.

  • Kano Guber: After results from 31 LGAs, NNPP sure of sending APC packing

Kano Guber: After results from 31 LGAs, NNPP sure of sending APC packing

The candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has secured a narrow lead over his closest challenger and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Dr. Yusuf Gawuna, as collation of 2023 Kano State governorship election results get underway on Sunday night.

The two candidates have continued to trail behind each other close since the collation of the governorship election results started.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Kano State has 44 local government areas, being the highest in the country.

After the collation of election results from 31 Local Government Areas out of the 44, NNPP’s Abba Yusuf polled 592,503 votes ahead of Nasir Gawuna of the APC, who secured 584,237 votes, leaving a margin of 8,266 votes.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Kano State citizens went to the polls on March 18 to elect a new governor as the outgoing Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s second term ends on May 29.

The people chose among 17 candidates presented by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) representing the same number of parties.

The trend of the state’s politics concerning governorship elections has never been constant. Thus, all candidates from the three major parties stand a chance of winning the top seat in the state.

Since the return to democracy in 1999, no party has had a total control over Kano State’s top seat.

The governor’s seat has rotated after a party’s candidate spends two terms.

    NNPP
Rabiu Kwankwaso was elected under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 1999. He lost to Ibrahim Shekarau of the All Nigerian People’s Party (ANPP) in 2003.

In 2011, Kwankwaso won again under the PDP and handed over to the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Abdullahi Ganduje in 2015.

Thus, the state’s top seat has rotated between parties at intervals, as no party can boast of complete dominance in the state.

    Recent elections in Kano
Kano’s political scene has been shared by the PDP and the APC (formerly ANPP).

The state’s representatives at various levels comprise members of these two parties in different dimensions.

In 1999, the PDP took the governor’s seat, all three senatorial positions and 22 House of Representatives vacancies. The governor’s seats went to the ANPP in 2003, and the party kept the seat until 2011.

In 2007, the PDP got two of the House of Representatives seats, while the ANPP took 16. Two senatorial seats went to the ANPP, with the remaining one going to the PDP.

The PDP reclaimed the governorship seat in 2011. It got nine state house of assembly seats, with 31 going to the APC.

The 2015 elections saw the governorship seat returning to the APC, which kept it in 2019. In 2015, 24 of the House of Representatives seats and two senatorial seats went to the APC.

The PDP got just one senatorial seat. At the state level, the PDP got six state house of assembly seats, but the APC took 34.

The 2019 election witnessed the APC claiming all House of Reps and senatorial seats in the state. The APC got 30 of the state house of assembly seats at the state level, but 10 went to PDP.

In the 2023 gubernatorial election, the APC’s candidate is the Deputy Governor, Nasir Gawuna; the PDP’s candidate is Sadiq Wali; while the NNPP’s is Abba Kabir-Yusuf.

    NNPP’s dominance in 2023
The NNPP, however, dominated the last national elections in Kano State.

The party took two out of the available three senatorial tickets and 17 out of 24 House of Representatives seats.

The victories were glaring as the party’s candidates floored incumbent national legislators from the APC at various constituencies.

This pushed the APC to the brink, leaving them with few seats at the national level.

The presidential election saw the state pulling 997,279 votes, claiming 57.1 percent of the total votes. The party won at least 34 out of the 44 local government areas in the state.

Reacting to the dominance of the NNPP, the state’s Deputy Governor and governorship candidate of the APC (Nasir Gawuna) said there was no need to panic as he believed he would win at the polls.

He said that APC got the required percentage in the state, boasting that the party was on course to win at the polls on Saturday.

Kano governorship election results: Again, NNPP overtakes APC leading by 3000 votes

The New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP has returned to the top in Saturday’s governorship election in Kano State.

But by the time collation resumed with the 23rd local government area, Abba Kabir Yusuf of the NNPP was leading the gubernatorial candidate of the APC, Nasir Gawuna, with 3,037 votes. While Yusuf polled 388,678 votes, Gawuna trailed with 385,098 votes, leaving a margin of 3,580 votes.
