You are fraud – Femi Branch lamblasts actors who can’t transform for roles

Nollywood actor, Femi Branch has slammed actors who are unable to diversify their roles in various movies.

The veteran actor in a now viral footage called out actors who show up the same way in every role, without bothering to physically or emotionally transform into their characters.

You have someone who calls himself an actor, and he has just one look in every film,” he said. “I’m sorry, dude, you’re not professional. You’re a fraud.

According to him, actors like that are cheating their audience. Instead of immersing viewers in the character, they force fans to mentally filter out their personality just to keep up with the story.

“The audience has to keep convincing themselves that it’s not you—they’re doing your job for you. You’re giving them stress!

Femi went on to reference Hollywood actors like Michael Fassbender, Joaquin Phoenix, and even rapper 50 Cent, who underwent extreme physical transformations for roles. Fassbender reportedly lost over 60 pounds, only to bulk up again in a month. Joaquin became almost unrecognizable as the Joker.

If you have to go bald, you go bald. If you have to carry warts on your face, you carry warts! Your body doesn’t belong to you—it belongs to the craft,” Femi said.

He said, “I wrote and produced the movie in 1993. The movie cut across Nigeria, especially in the Yoruba-speaking part of the country. But I didn’t make money from it because 90% of the money was gotten by piracy.

“I didn’t make profit from the film because there was no social media, so I don’t have opportunity to promote it widely. As a result of this, the movie was pirated, and the marketers waged war against me for handling the marketing myself. It was distributed illegally, and people made profit from it.

“That marked the beginning of my problems. I’m broke right now. The industry is about connections, I need more connections to get back on my feet.”
