    Anyone could be a victim of abuse – Nollywood actress recounts experience

    Nollywood actress Monalisa Stephen has opened up about her experience in an abusive relationship.

    The big-sized actress, during an interview with Saturday Beats, disclosed that the whole experience was unexpected and painful as she did not recognize the abuse for what it was until it turned physical.

    She said, “I didn’t realize it was happening to me

    “I’d heard other women talk about abuse, but I never thought it could happen to me. I used to think,

    ‘I’m a big woman, why would anyone want to hurt me?’ But abuse isn’t about your size.

    “Anyone can be a victim, whether you’re large or not. When I got that first slap, I was in shock. It came out of nowhere and over something so insignificant.

    “I was dazed. The whole experience was unexpected and painful because I trusted him.”

    Despite knowing he wasn’t on her level, the actress expressed regret for lowering her standards to date him.

    “This person continued to beat and humiliate me. When I confronted him, asking why he was doing this, he told me his friend advised him that women like me needed to be ‘bent’ to be dominated. That completely changed how I saw some men,” she added

    Nollywood actress opens up about ongoing battle with brain tumour

    Nollywood actress Bisola Badmus has shared her harrowing journey about her ongoing three-year battle with brain tumour.

    In a video posted on Tuesday, the actress whilst speaking with her colleague Kunle Afod, disclosed that her condition deteriorated to the point where she was unable to see or recognize anyone.

    In the video, Bisola described the extent of her struggle, saying, “For the past three years, I have been battling a brain tumour.

    “It reached a stage where I couldn’t say anything or recognize anyone. I have been on medication, and while I am getting better, there is no surgical option for my condition. The drugs are a necessary part of my life now.”

    She also offered some insight into her condition, adding, “They said there is no operation for it and I have been using drugs for the past two years. The drugs aren’t something that can be stopped. What causes brain tumours is too much thinking.”

    Nollywood actress, Eniola Badmus has taken to social media to hail President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for shifting the Nigerian economy from consumption to production.

    The actress via her verified Instagram on Sunday noted that the country’s imports are decreasing while exports are increasing, indicating an expanding economy.

    The actress emphasised that the country’s economy under President Tinubu -led administration has made unprecedented progress in trade, highlighting a shift from consumption to production.

    On her Instagram story, she wrote: “Our imports are reducing, and our exports are increasing. That is a sign that our economy is expanding.

    “For the year-to-date 2024, our imports were N24.44 trillion, while our exports stood at N38.59 trillion. This gives us an unprecedented trade surplus of over N14 trillion in just eight months.

    “It has never happened in Nigeria. Never. This is a refreshing shift from consumption to production.”

    Her appraisal is against the backdrop of unprecedented hardship and inflation in the country.

    Sharing the photos, she wrote: “Birthday Thanksgiving. If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Patience say;

    “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us. Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us: Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul.

    “Then the proud waters had gone over our soul. Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”

    Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson has come under heavy attack from frustrated Nigerians, who have criticised her for campaigning vigorously for All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate Senator Monday Okpebholo ahead of the Edo September 21 governorship election.

    Mercy, who joined her husband, Hon. Prince Odi Okojie, the Coordinator for APC Edo Central Campaign Council, during campaign rallies in ward 6 Irruekpen, Esan West LGA, told the crowd to vote for APC Guber Candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

    ‘’On September 21, una never tire? no light, no water, no good healthcare, no security, no good road.If you go vote for senator Okpebholo raise your hands? My husband say na who know me na e go carry first. I use God beg una, this campaign na operation one man tell the other, one woman tell the other. Edo must good. When you reach that field, na senator Okpebholo na e you go vote for,’’ the actress tells the crowd in pidgin.

    Reacting netizens have slammed the actress over her statement, saying she should not complain or cry foul like Asiwaju Baby if Monday Okpebholo fails to perform as Governor of Edo state.

    There is nothing wrong with IVF, include it in your testimonies – Mary Njoku to Nigerian women

    Nollywood actress cum film maker, Mary Remmy Njoku has urged Nigerian religious women who give birth through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) to come clean when sharing their testimonies in church.

    IVF, according to Yale medicine, is a procedure that helps individuals or couples get pregnant, it is a procedure that involves the joining of a woman’s egg and a man’s sperm in a laboratory dish.

    Taking to her Instagram on Wednesday, Njoku said there’s nothing wrong with IVF, as God created human beings and gave them the wisdom to find solutions to our challenges.

    Admonishing religious women, the mother of three stressed that they should be feel free to include IVF in their testimonies so that God can use them to inspire and bless other families as well.

    She maintained that women who are not completely honestly with are not mandated to testify, adding that anyone who can’t tell the complete story, should rest and avoid making God angry.

    “Dear Nigerian religious women! There is nothing wrong with IVF. God created us with the wisdom to find solutions to our challenges. Feel free to include IVF in your testimonies, so that God can use your story to inspire and bless other families as well. Testimony is not mandatory! If you no fit tell us TRUE story, rest Abeg. Make God no vex for you”.

    In another post, the actress noted that how IVF, C- sections are all miracle from God.

    “Saying IVF failed you but God gave you a miracle is absurd. IVF is a miracle! C- sections are a miracle.  God has blessed countless families through them. If it didn’t work for you, it mught work for someone else. Stop using religion to discourage other from receiving their blessing,” she added.

    Nollywood actress Christabel Egbenya has announced the birth of her second child.

    She captioned the photo, “Our bundle of Joy has arrived 9/9/2024.” 

    In another post, the pretty actress shared photos from her maternity shoot, expressing gratitude to God for making her a mother of two lovely children.

    Reflecting on her pregnancy journey, Christabel noted that it was not easy. She further called on her fans to celebrate with her.

    “With joy in my heart, I announce the birth of our amazing son, Chikamso Mark Jr Onumajuru. God has blessed my family for the second time.

    “This journey wasn’t easy, but I’m grateful to God for making me a mother of two lovely children. Big thanks to God Almighty for this wonderful blessing. Please celebrate with me!”

    In an Instagram story via her verified page on Monday, the actress lamented Nigeria’s high cost of living and as she wondered how people were coping with the challenging economy.

    She wrote: “This increase in prices of goods and services is really much oo.. I don’t understand how re we even coping. It’s really much. Why is nobody talking. Please are you people okay checking something. Because we all seem to be living moving. Is there. Something I don’t have.”

    Social media was abuzz after popular Nigerian actress Sharon Ooja took to church altars to thank God for answering her long desire to settle with a partner of her dreams.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Ooja recounted on Sunday how her faith and patience led her to meet her husband, Ugo Nwoke, after years of waiting.

    In June, recall that Sharon Ooja tied the knot with her husband, Ugo Nwoke at Harvesters International Christian Centre in Lagos.

    Giving her testimony, the actress shared her spiritual experience while praying for a spiritual partner, explaining how she had a personal encounter with the Holy Spirit after years of praying for a life partner.

    “Several times I would have conversations with God, saying, ‘You’ve given me work, financial stability, and I’m great at what I do. There’s just one thing I’m still waiting for,’” she shared.

    She also recalled when  “Pastor B  asked her what qualities she sought in a man.

    She replied, “Someone who will take care of me.” The pastor, however, urged her to focus on personal growth.

    She narrated how she continued to pray until last year when she was  filming a movie in the desert, and the Holy Spirit told her, ‘Leave her burdens here.’

    She recalled the moment vividly, saying, “I was filming in the desert and had a heavy encounter with the Holy Spirit. I remember hearing, ‘Leave your burdens here.”

    She stressed that not long after that experience, she met the man who would become her husband.

    The testimony, however, stirred reactions online, with critics offering their opinions. Some supported the actress’s testimony, praising God on her behalf; others saw it as unnecessary.
