Nollywood star, Stephanie Linus partners US varisity to tackle maternal health issues in Africa

The George Washington University’s Institute for Corporate Responsibility has partnered with veteran Nollywood actress Stephanie Linus‘ Extended Hands Foundation to launch the maternal health and nutrition initiative Africa (MaHNIA).

The university in a statement on Thursday, said the initiative is designed to tackle disturbing maternal health and nutrition challenges in marginalised African communities, with a focus on empowering women and improving health outcomes.

The statement added that the partnership was officially launched after two screenings of Linus’s award-winning film ‘Dry’ — a powerful portrayal of a 13-year-old Nigerian child bride’s struggle with obstetric fistula.

“The film set the stage for an engaging panel discussion on maternal health, women’s rights, and the critical role of nutrition in enhancing healthcare systems in Africa,” the statement reads.

“GW’s Global Food Institute and Global Women’s Institute co-hosted the event which included a powerful panel discussion.

“The event provided a platform for candid discussions about the importance of integrating nutrition into maternal health solutions. Universities possess a vast reservoir of knowledge that is often inaccessible.

“This collaboration, which will leverage expertise from across the GW community, aims to unlock that knowledge by developing a toolkit in partnership with colleagues in Nigeria, focusing on both research and community engagement. By adopting a community-based approach, we will ensure that the toolkit addresses the actual needs and supports meaningful change.”

Linus said through the initiative, women in underserved communities would survive childbirth and thrive afterward.

“Safe motherhood and proper nutrition are not privileges; they are fundamental rights. This initiative combines healthcare and nutrition to create lasting solutions,” she said.

“My film Dry tells the story of just one girl, but her story represents millions of women who suffer in silence. Through this initiative, we are giving a voice to those women and providing real solutions.

“The Maternal Health and Nutrition Initiative Africa is a pivotal step toward addressing the maternal health crisis across Africa. By combining healthcare services with nutrition support and community-driven solutions, the initiative seeks to create lasting change for women and children in underserved communities.”

Ladies sleep with dog for ritual purpose – Actress, Yetunde Bakare

Nollywood actress, Yetunde Bakare has disclosed that men who pay ladies to sleep with their dogs do it for ritual purposes.

She made this revelation while reacting to Kemi Olunloyo’s claims that they do not make money from it, and only do it to satisfy their sexual fetishes.

The investigative journalist had taken to Twitter to call the attention of the Lagos State Ministry of Health to the alleged cases of rich men paying ladies up to N2 million to sleep with their dogs.

She tweeted: “Beastiality is the human act of having sex with animals. We’ve seen herdsmen having sex with their cows ? & many young ladies willing to have sex with dogs ? in Lekki Lagos for as much as N2M. Lekki currently has a huge HIV outbreak. Beastiality is not a crime in ??

“Rich men in Lekki pay these girls up to N2M to f**K their dogs ? and they watch and film it creating beastiality porn videos which are online. Also these men film their dogs performing oral sex licking the genitals of these “beastiality prostitutes. @LSMOH should intervene soon.”

“Nobody actually makes money from watching porn. It’s a thrill for them. You can rarely monetize porn.”, Kemi responded.

Yetunde disputed Kemi’s claims that they don’t generate money from it, while noting that the act is used for ritual purposes and these men usually take the dog to their Babalawo to complete the ritual process.

The actress also claimed she has the confession of a dying lady who engaged in the act and is now begging for death due to the intense pains she is feeling.

The thespian commented: “I disagree kemkem! They make money from it … this act is spiritual, they’ll later take the dog to their Babalowo and finish work ? I have a dying girl’s confession! She’s even the one begging for death because she’s seriously in pains ?”
