  • ‘I don’t hate Nollywood actresses’- Kemi Olunloyo declares

Before now, controversial journalist and social commentator, Kemi Olunloyo is known to be a trouble maker. In entertainment circles Nollywood actresses dread her. Over the years, she has had several unresolved rifts with Dayo Amusa, Cossy Orjiakor, Iyabo Ojo, Angela Okorie and others.

However , the outspoken social media commentator has been making peace with her erstwhile enemies ever since she was released from prison. She took to her Instagram page announcing to everyone who cares to read, saying she doesn’t hate Nollywood actresses and that she has made peace with Georgina Onuoha.

Hear her:” I have made peace with my junior sister @GeorginaOnuoha. Many of you may remember that she wrote the Nigerian Feds advocating my relesse. While I was locked up, @Ibinabofiberisima visited me in prison and told me that she watched our online beef for two months. Fiberisima also mentioned that Georgina was a nice girl if I get to know her.

“I don’t hate Nollywood actresses. I was in the middle of many investigations and Georgina was in one of them. She proved herself right and some antagonism got involved during the process. As a Journalist I investigate things thoroughly with newsmakers involved also avoiding them creating an “element of suspicion”. Many do not answer and ignore me, others do.

“The internet is inundated with #fakenews. Many about me and my family even Georgina found and posted. The message here is simple. We shouldn’t believe anything we read online and that’s why I go to newsmakers to confirm or deny stories. Georgina’s DM to me is attached. She has gone thru a lot in life and so have I.”

‘Entertainers don’t go for medical check-ups’- Muyiwa Ademola

Muyiwa Ademola give reasons for deaths in the entertainment sector

Talented Nollywood actor, Muyiwa Ademola has stated the reason for the deaths in Nollywood. The award winning actor known for his excellent role interpretation said most actors work round the clock , spending nights and movie locations. He added that they don’t go for medical check-ups.

Speaking in an interview with Punch, he said:”A very big problem we have in our industry is that we work round the clock, we spend nights at movie locations but we don’t go for medical check-up. I have a doctor and I go for medical check-up every three weeks. I know when to take some days off work. For instance, if I work for about two weeks; I take a few days off to relax. I would just eat and rest. I also make sure I go on vacations and all I do in those times is just to eat and sleep. Most of the deaths in the movie industry are a result of accumulated stress without paying attention to one’s health”.

Ademola joined the Nigerian film industry through Charles Olumo, popularly known as Agbako who was based in his hometown, Abeokuta. He later met a movie director called S.I Ola who taught him acting and movie production. He began his acting career fully in 1995 when he produced his first movie titled Asise meaning mistake in English. The production was sponsored by Dibel who deals in generating sets. Since 1995, he has produced, direct and featured in several Yoruba Nollywood movies. On January 2013, it was reported that he was involved in a fatal accident, which almost resulted in his death.

[Video] I smell a revolution- Saheed Balogun

Saheed Balogun is one actor who has been able to make his mark in Nollywood. He personifies humour, creativity and innovation. He began his professional acting career in 1978 and has featured in several movies. Although more renowned for appearances in the Yoruba sector of Nollywood, he has also acted in a number of Nollywood English movies.

In an exclusive chat with TheNewsGuru, the talented actor expresses his opinion on the state of the nation. He said If things keeps getting worse, then he smells a revolution.

Hear him:”We all need to wake up. I hope it doesn’t get worse. I smell a revolution. You can see the so called leaders messing up and comedians throwing tantrums which means they need to watch what they do. House of Rep members are not passing laws to curb piracy. Nigerian leaders need to realize that people are watching, whatever they they need to be careful and watch it”.

  • How House of rep members kill Nollywood- Saidi Balogun

Versatile actor,Saidi Balogun has called on his colleagues to place more importance on their health. The vocal actor also lashed out at members of the House of Representatives especially those who are in charge of passing anti-piracy laws, saying they contribute to the incessant deaths in Nollywood

Speaking in an interview with Punch, he said: “People die but because we are in the public eye, death of actors resonates more. Two million people can die but nobody would write about them unlike when actors die. People die every day. It is not that we are not checking ourselves, it happens but I am begging all actors to work on their health. I was supposed to celebrate my birthday from May 24 to 26 but I postponed it in honour of our fallen colleagues

The reason why most actors solicit for funds when they are ill is because of lack of health insurance and we should talk to insurance companies about that. If we are making our money now, we should look at health insurance policy for future sake. I keep begging that the House of Representatives pass hard laws on piracy because if we are making good money, we would be able to subscribe to insurance policies. If I am making N500,000 and the school fees of my daughter is N600,000, where would I see money for insurance? It is the people that are not passing hard laws on piracy that are killing us. I have an insurance policy as the President of The Golden Movies Ambassadors of Nigeria. I have been on an insurance policy for over four years,” he said.

  • ‘People who do not mean well for Nollywood mess it up’-Paul Obazele

Veteran actor and former president, Association of Movie Producers (AMP), Paul Obazele has opened up on the challenges besetting Nollywood. Speaking with The Sun, he said those who don’t mean well for Nollywood get involved because of their selfish reasons.

Hear him:” Nollywood is a family. Even twins quarrel and they come round it. Everything must go a full course. Siblings clash but what makes it dangerous is when outsiders get involved. The moment you get involved, there is every tendency that you take side with one person, it aggravates such anger and that is what is happening to Nollywood. Those who do not mean well for Nollywood get involved and mess it up because of their selfish interest. As long as Nollywood remains divided, they make money from it. I tell my colleagues with all sense of responsibility and fear of God, ‘don’t take this out’. It is like a marriage between a husband and his wife. If they quarrel, they will settle. The moment a third person comes in, it escalates.

“Why would I go for example to post my marital stuff on the Internet? Why should I offend Chico (Ejiro) and go and post it on a platform? Ibinabo (Fiberesima) has issues. The people she leads have the right to caution her and it ends there in a meeting. It is resolved. That is why we have disciplinary committee in associations and organisations”.

‘I am still coughing and sneezing blood’- Mercy Aigbe laments

Embattled Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe is not in the best of moods at the moment. The beautiful actress who has been overwhelmed by the crisis thumping her marriage has revealed more scary details about how her estranged husband , Lanre Gentry beat her up.

In a recent interview with Broadway Africa TV, she said: “He beats me consistently. I stayed because I loved him and because every time he beats me, he begs and gets family and friends to beg me. He promised regularly to change but he never did. When my husband gets angry, he gets physical, not only to me but to anyone. He has done that with my house help who reported him to the Police years ago.I stayed because of my children and because a lot of people look up to me. I was a role model of some sort and I really wanted to keep it together. I just wanted a home”.

Speaking on what led to him beating her, she said:” That day Immediately, I opened the door, he kept beating me. I was begging him and asking why he was beating me. He said he would destroy my face such that no make-up would fix it and destroy my career. He was acting like someone who was possessed. I told him “Lanre, mo ma bi mo fun e” (translated as “I have a child for you).I’m still coughing and sneezing blood even after three weeks” she laments.
