    Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday attended the night of tributes organized in honour of Nomthi Odukoya, late wife of the senior pastor of Fountain of Life Church Taiwo Odukoya.

    TheNewsGuru reports that the night of tributes was held at the Fountain of Life Church located in the Ilupeju area of Lagos.

    The funeral service will hold on Tuesday from 11 am at the same venue.

    Sanwo-Olu in an Instagram post prayed for comfort for the bereaved family.

    “May God continue to strengthen Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, their Children, and all their loved ones. And may Pastor Nomthi’s soul continue to rest with Almighty God. Amen,” he wrote.

    In the same vein, Nigerian entrepreneur Ibukun Awosika also attended the night of tributes.

    She shared a video of the event on her instagram page and wrote: “Beautiful Night of tributes for Pastor Nomthi. What will be the message at your night of tributes? Think about it and have a reset where needed”.

    Nomthi died at the age of 47 after fighting cancer for two years.

    The South African married Odukoya in 2010. She had two boys — Jomiloju and Timilehin — with him.

    Nomthi was Odukoya’s second wife after his first Pastor Bimbo Odukoya died in a plane crash in 2005. Bimbo had two children with Odukoya – Jimmy Odukoya and Tolu Odukoya-Ijogun.

    Pastor Enoch Adeboye has paid a condolence visit to Pastor Taiwo Odukoya over the death of the cleric’s wife, Nomthi Odukoya, noting that in spite of the sad development, God cannot be questioned.

    The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) visited Pastor Odukoya at his Lagos premises on Monday.

    “Indeed, God is unquestionable. My prayer is that The Almighty God continues to strengthen the Odukoya family and grant them the grace needed for this period,” Adeboye said during the visit.

    “I pray for God’s divine protection over Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, the children, and the Fountain of Life ministry. In JESUS’ name. Amen!”

    While describing the late Pastor Nomthi as someone who served God with fervency and love, the preacher said, “we rejoice that she is in heaven; a place where there is eternal peace and rest.”

    Pastor Adeboye is the latest high-profile clergyman to have paid condolence to the Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church (TFOLC) following the death of his wife last Tuesday.

    Last week, the Founder and General Overseer of the Living Faith Church (LFC), Bishop David Oyedepo, also visited the Lagos-based cleric to condole him over the incident.

    Oyedepo was accompanied by the Vice President 1 of the church, Bishop David Abioye, and others, days after Nomthi Odukoya died from a two-year battle with cancer.

    Nomthi Odukoya, wife of the senior pastor of Fountain of Life Church Taiwo Odukoya, will be buried on November 30, three weeks after her demise on November 8.

    TheNewsGuru reports that Nomthi died at the age of 47 after fighting cancer for two years.

    Odukoya announced the funeral plans on Friday via Instagram, where he announced her death. A night of tributes will be held on November 29 before the funeral service and interment the following day.

    Reacting to the announcement, a former chairman of First Bank of Nigeria Ltd Ibukun Awosika, who is a member of the Lagos-based church, said she would miss Nomthi’s joyful dance.

    “Beautiful on the outside and on the inside. A pure hearted Angel without any guile. A smile that brings sunshine into the room. A simple woman of God with absolutely no pretense,” she wrote.

    “A true worshipper of her God. It was a real joy to know her. It’s tough to imagine we will never see your joyful dance again. God is still God and we trust in Him through this season!” Awosika added.

    Nomthi, a South African, married Odukoya in 2010. She had two boys, Jomiloju and Timilehin with him.

    Pastor Taiwo Odukoya’s children, Tolu and Jimmy, have written glowing tributes to their stepmother, Nomthi, who died on Tuesday after a two-year battle with cancer.

    Odukoya, who is the senior pastor of Fountain of Life Church, got married to Nomthi in 2010 after the demise of his first wife, Bimbo, in the 2005 Sosoliso plane crash.

    Nomthi, in her 11 years of marrying the cleric, had two sons for him: Jomiloju and Timilehin Odukoya.

    Nollywood actor and rapper Jimmy Odukoya, who is Taiwo and Bimbo’s son, on Wednesday wrote an emotional tribute to his stepmother, Nomthi, saying that he’ll take care of his father and her sons.

    Jimmy wrote on his Instagram page, “For we do not grieve as though we have no hope, for we are confident of this one thing; To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

    “The pain we feel @pastornomthi is for us who you leave behind for we will miss you. We will take care of Dad and the boys!

    “We love you but we know God loves you more! Continue to dance in the bosom of our Lord! Till we meet again!”

    In the same vein, Tolu Odukoya-Ijogun also took to her Instagram page to pen a tribute to Nomthi, commending the late Pastor Nomthi for taking care of her father.

    She wrote, “Aunty Nom, You were such a beautiful light, an authentic Christian, and a woman that truly loved God. You were such a fighter. Cancer didn’t win; God wanted you all to himself and called you home.

    “To say we will miss you is an understatement. Thank you for Tim-Tim and Jom-Jom. Thank you for loving my Dad the way you did. No more pain, Aunty Nom. Rest in the bosom of our Lord till we meet again to part no more. Good night, Aunty Nom.”

    [DETAILS]: How Pastor Taiwo Odukoya’s wife, Nomthi battle cancer before death

    The founder of a Nigerian leading religious centre, Fountain of Life Bible Church, Taiwo Odukoya’s wife, Nomthi Odukoya, has been confirmed to have died after he lost the battle with cancer in the country.

    Rosemary, a South African of Zulu tribe, died barely two years after contracting cancer disease and battled to survive the ailment before she finally succumbed to the disease and passed on.

    The death of the cleric’s second wife ended the over 10 years marriage which Pastor Odukoya ventured into five years after his first wife, Bimbo, passed on.

    The said development was announced on Tuesday through a statement released on the church’s official social media handle and with an appeal that Nigerians pray for the family.

    According to the statement, the wife of the cleric, after being diagnosed with cancer had been engaging in activities that could assist her to overcome the ailment.

    “With deep regret and gratitude to God, we have to announce the passing of our Senior Pastor’s wife, Pastor Nomthi Odukoya. She battled cancer for the better part of 2 years, she stood on the Word of God, and she fought.

    “We loved her with all our heart, but who are we to fight with the will of God. The truth is, at one point in our lives, we all will have to say goodbye. So for now, till we meet again in glory, Goodbye Pastor Nomthi,” the statement added.

    She died about two months to their 12th wedding anniversary, a marriage which nuptial not was finally tied at the Civic Centre in Lagos State and had produced two children.

    Speaking on the marriage, the deceased had disclosed that she did not envision getting married to a pastor and getting married to a foreigner, saying all she had hoped for was to marry a fellow South African.

    “I did not know I was going to serve God in this capacity. I was against it because I thought pastors were responsible for peoples’ lives. I believed it was a burden too much to bear and I did not want to be held accountable if people did not live according to the gospel of Christ. I felt serving God and supporting the gospel in whatever way I could, was enough. I did not see myself in a leadership position in a country other than South Africa for that matter,” she added.

    It would be recalled that the cleric lost his first wife, Pastor Bimbo Odukoya on December 10, 2005, as a result of the Sosoliso plane crash.

    And five years later, 2010, Pastor Odukoya married Rosemary Nomthi, a South African, to fill the vacuum left by the first wife that died in the ill-fated plane.

    The Founder of the Fountain of Life Bible Church, Taiwo Odukoya, has lost his second wife, Pastor Nomthi Rosemary Odukoya.

    TheNewsGuru recalls that Pastor Odukoya’s first wife, Pastor Bimbo, died on December 10, 2005 in a plane crash in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

    Pastor Bimbo flew on Sosoliso Airline, from Abuja to Port Harcourt, where the plane crashed on landing due to bad weather.

    The demise of Pastor Nomthi, a South African, was announced on the Instagram page of Pastor Taiwo.

    She was said to have been battling cancer for two years.

    She had two boys for Pastor Taiwo in their 11 years of marriage, which was consummated in 2010.
