Genital Theft: Panic grips Abuja, North Central over alleged disapperance of manhood

There is palpable fear amongst the residents of Abuja and other states in the country following speculations that some elements  go about stealing male genitals.

Many cases of genital theft have been reported in some states in the North Central, particularly in Kogi, Nasarawa, Kaduna and the nation’s capital.

It is yet unclear how the miscreants carry out such acts, residents of the FCT have, for over a month now, been living in fear following reported cases of ‘stealing’ of manhoods.

Recall that some persons have been mobbed  by irate youths who descended on suspects for allegedly causing the mysterious disappearance of manhoods.
There are different accounts of how the heinous crime is being perpetrated in the city. While some said a mere conversation with the alleged manhood thief can cause disappearance of the victim’s penis, others said it happens after a physical contact, including handshake.

On August 23, the Nasarawa State Police Command, while cautioning residents against jungle justice being meted out to the alleged organ thieves in the state, revealed that some persons were attacked over same allegations in Nasarawa Eggon, Obi, Lafia and Keffi Local Government Areas of the state.

The State’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, however, said a medical examination conducted on the alleged victims, “gave all of them a clean bill of health”, saying there was no basis for the allegations.

On September 20, some irate youths in phase 2, Gwagwalada area of the FCT, lynched a yet-to-be-identified young man for allegedly stealing a resident’s manhood.

Three days after the incident, another resident, Lucky Josiah was accused of causing the disappearance of one Rokeeb Saheed’s manhood.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, while confirming the ugly development, told Newsmen that officers of the command quickly responded to a distress call that a victim was being lynched.

Unlike the Gwagwalada incident, Lucky was saved by the police operatives from being killed by the angry mob.

The PPRO revealed that after medical examinations were conducted on Saheed, his male organ was “confirmed to be fine, and Lucky’s injuries were treated”.

Residents of the city have continued to record similar incidents almost on a daily basis in both the city centre and satellite towns.

On Friday, a disturbing motion picture which captured an alleged manhood thief being subjected to torture and dehumanization by mob, including some security operatives surfaced online.

In the video, the alleged thief who was accused of stealing two manhoods, was heard saying he is innocent of the allegations.

North Central APC Forum issues stern warning to FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike

The North Central Forum, operating under the umbrella of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has issued a warning to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, against taking any actions or making moves inimical to the interest of the party or the North Central region.

This was made known by the Chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga in Jos, the Plateau state capital, after an emergency meeting to assess and review the election tribunal judgements and how the APC has fared so far.

According to him, all hands must be on deck to ensure that the party performs well at the court, whether tribunal, appeal or Supreme Court.

He added “Reports reaching us suggest that some appointive office holders like Wike are still playing double games, since he is part of the APC by appointment, while he still remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“We gathered he is still backing the PDP in many of their endeavours and activities, particularly in the post-election cases in the court.

“It is high time Wike comes out clean and takes a stand on the party he really belongs to, otherwise, should his actions run contrary to that of the APC’s interest, they will not hesitate to initiate several actions against him, including legal action.

“As someone who is holding an appointive position of the APC, a Lawyer by profession and someone reputed for doggedly fighting political-legal battles right from Rivers State, he (Wike) should come out strong and be seen to be supporting and strategising for victory for the candidates of the APC in the courts, at least in the North-Central Region, under which the FCT falls,” he said.

Zazzaga further cautioned Wike against using his position as the FCT Minister to strategise for his 2027 presidential ambition, as some people are peddling in some quarters.

He maintained that their forum will be watchful to ensure his loyalty to the nation, the APC and President Bola Tinubu is complete first, without engaging in any tactics for self-interest.

The Chairman advised Wike to be cautious in FCT demolition, land revocation and other administrative policies that will have negative outcomes, as the North Central will be the first region to bear the brunt and take the full heat of any unpalatable occurrence in the FCT.

He said the region is already going through many challenges, including security, and they would not want anything to aggravate the situation further.

He called on all the APC leaders, supporters and members alike to support all their candidates pursuing legal post-election matters in the courts.

He also urged Nigerians in general to support Tinubu, Secretary to Government of the Federation, George Akume, all the ministers and those holding appointive positions so that they can excel in their responsibilities and deliver the dividends of democracy to the nation.

Stop short-changing the interest of North Central – Group warns Tinubu

A group under the auspices of APC North Central Progressives Forum (ANCPF) has Called on President Bola Tunibu to stop short-changing the interests of the zone.

The forum in a statement signed by its convener, Ahmed Suleiman said the zone made efforts to help the party win elections three consecutive times.

    The statement reads:
Is with deep surprise and disappointment to see how some stakeholders from Noth Central are busy endorsing or celebrating the unjustifiable deliberate plan to short-change and undermine the interests of the North Central Zone of APC and the Zone at large.

“After all the collective efforts made by the zone to help the party win elections three consecutive times by constantly giving votes of 2,411,013 (53%) in 2015, 2,465,599 (54%) in 2019 and 1,760,993 in 2023 respectively, despite the heterogeneous nature of the zone (N/E) due to tribes, ethnicities and religions, constant short-changing has been the thank you gift to the Zone for being faithful and supportive to the party.

“We wish to remind you, Sir, that in this 2023 election, North Central’s votes was higher than the votes of 1,185,458, from N/E, 799,957 from S/S and 127,605 from the S/E zone of the Country.

“If this injustice of short-changing is allowed to continue, will be a total disregard and betrayal of our collective sacrifices, support and loyalty as a zone, which we have played in the last 8 years and wish to continue playing to the party and the government.

“We therefore call on the President, H. E Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tunibu who has tasted the bitterness of injustice and the joy and benefits of fairness and justice in his political history to please help to put a stop to this dangerous political misrepresentation and avoid any unforeseen crisis in the party.

“It is important to remind us that both the Chairman who is from Nasarawa state and the Secretary who is from Osun state resigned the same day, now the Secretary is to be replaced from the same state and zone, but Nasarawa or any other state from North Central does not qualify to retain its Chairmanship position, what an injustice! What an orphan!! What a robbery”

“It is worthy to note that, the North Central Zone was the least considered in the life of the immediate past administration, intends of reward system, despite the zone’s constant massive support to the party, our votes are there to speak for itself.

“In the just concluded general elections, we the APC family from the North Central did not still let the party down by contributing the third highest votes of over one million seven hundred thousand votes (1,700,000) as against the votes contributed to the party by Northeast, Southsouth and Southeast zones respectively.
We truly deserved our request if equity, fairness and justice is going to be the watchdog of this administration.

The Forum requested for the appointment of an indigent or resident of FCT who is politically grounded as a Cabinet member in the yet to form Federal Executive Council for the purpose of inclusivity, but in the least of, a North Central person should be appointed as a Minister of FCT.

“Mr. President Sir, we the APC family from the North Central Zone totally believe in your leadership style and capacity as you remain the only living hero of our national political history.

” As a Forum and party men and women, we are not unmindful of the intention of the President and the party trying to form a government of national unity, but this can only be applaud if every zone is treated base on what the zone contributed to the success and progress of the party and its candidates.

AbdulRazaq said the governors, being party leaders from the region, would not adopt confrontational posture against the party’s position.

He said they were holding strategic meetings with different stakeholders to secure a better deal for the North Central.

“Media reports that we reject the APC  position are therefore a stretch of our approach.

“They are not factual. We have our channels of communication and that is what we are exploring.

North-Central Senators-elect want Deputy Senate President position

Senators- elect from the North-Central have  said that the least position worthy of the zone was the position of  the Deputy President of the Senate.

Senator-elect for Nasarawa West Senatorial District, Ahmed Wadada  (SDP-Nasarawa) made the declaration on behalf of the North -Central Senators-elect caucus at a news conference in Abuja on Friday.

Wadada said that the least position the zone would go for was the position of the Deputy Senate President.

He said: “We as a caucus meet and first welcome the President -elect from his trip and asked that fairness takes place in the distribution of leadership to all the geo-political zones.

“Of course we are aware that there are agitations from various geo- political zones on the positions of Senate President, Deputy Senate President, Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

“Haven been aware of these agitations of course, it should be called to mind that the South-West and the North-East haven’t produced the president and vice president respectfully.

“The north-central as a result of that is of the stand and position that the least position we will go for is the deputy senate president and this is not just coming today.

“The north-central caucus has been consistent from the commencement of the politics that will lead to the emergence of the leadership of the national assembly.

“That has always been our position that  we are for the deputy senate president position and that is what we stand for.

“We shall work in harmony, mutuality and cordiality with all other geo- political zones for the good of Nigeria but not to be compromised for any reason what so ever.”

He also disclosed that the caucus was projecting Sen. Sani Musa ( APC-Niger) for the position of Deputy Senate President of the 10th Senate.

“We made it clear at our maiden meeting to give the position to the  chairman of this caucus, Sen. Sani Musa.

The caucus comprised members of different political parties.

  • South East, North Central not favoured to win presidency – Iwuanyanwu

South East, North Central not favoured to win presidency – Iwuanyanwu

Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Chairman of the Ohanaeze Council of Elders says limiting the zoning of the country’s presidency to North and South is not in the interest of all Nigerians.

Iwuanyanwu made the assertion at a meeting organised to inaugurate the council’s Finance and Development Committee on Sunday in Abuja.

He said if the zoning principle must be observed, it should be across the country’s six geo-political zones. He said this would give every Nigerian opportunity to aspire for the presidency.

The 57-man committee of eminent Igbo business men, inaugurated by Prof. George Obiozor, the President Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, was to proffer ways of financing and developing economic activities in Igbo land.

According to Iwuanyanwu, the South-East and North-Central especially, is not favoured to win the presidency going by the current North, South zoning arrangement.

“If you want to zone, we have six geo-political zones in the country, zone it along the geo-political zones. If you know you want to zone.

“You say you are zoning it to the North and South. If you zone the presidency to the North, there is no way somebody from North-Central will get it, unless there is a mutual cooperation from the North-West. which is very big.

“And if you zone it to the South, even if a zone in the South has been president several times, by this zoning arrangement, it doesn’t stop them from contesting; which is not exactly what zoning is all about,” he said.

He explained that zoning was to ensure fairness, equity and justice, and to see that the position “goes round”, adding that limiting it to North and South was against the interest of other Nigerians.

While noting that the North had more Local Government Areas, Iwuanyanwu said eastern states had fewer.

“Political power is derived from the party and from delegates, and if you look at recent elections, we have fewer local government areas and for you to penetrate to get other places, you have to have money.

“We were not there when local governments were created, it was created by the military, now they say when it comes to South, the South should go and agree and this is not fair,” he said.

Earlier, Obiozor, President Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, said the meeting was also to give effect to matters of immense importance and relevance to Nigerians of Igbo extraction.

He implored Nigerians of Igbo extraction to stop lamenting, adding that they should critically harness the potential and resources in the region to their advantage.

“We have all it takes to deliver succor, development and a better and sustainable society for millions of our people and indeed Nigeria.

“In this wise, our focus will be on economic activities that will engage our youths through employment opportunities and acquisition of skills.

“This should be in line with our known entrepreneurship models, harnessing of potential in the agriculture value chain through processing, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) which are the comer stones of Aslan economics.

“I am conscious of the fact that the tasks we have set for ourselves will not be easy to achieve, but I am happy in the knowledge that they are doable and that we are on the right historical path,” Obiozor said.

He said that the meeting demonstrated the determined efforts of Nigerians of Igbo extraction to tell their stories in a more positive light.

He said membership of the newly inagurated committee would be expanded as the need arose to enrich its ideas and mode of operation.

He said other committees would also be established to handle critical sectors that impacted on the people generally.

He commended Iwuanyanwu for his sterling contributions towards the growth of Ohanaeze Nidigbo Worldwide as a body and the Igbo nation, and Nigerians in all segments of human endeavour.

He also thanked all those who worked closely with Iwuanyanwu to ensure the success that had been achieved.

Members of the committee include Amb. Okey Emuche, (Secretary), Prof. Charles Nwaekeaku, Sen. Orji Uzo Kalu, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezife, Sen. Chief Chris Ngige, Chief Jim Nwobodo and Dr Okweslieze Nwodo.
