There’s a brief break at the INEC collation centre in Edo State as Orhionwhon collation officer suddenly vanishes from the centre with results.

PDP party agent Hon Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama brought this to the notice of the REC who asked for a little break to wait for the agent.

Orhionwhon is where Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu the APC Guber candidate hails from.

BREAKING: PDP leaders storm INEC office, demand immediate release of Orhionmwon, Ovia South West LG results

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Saturday stormed the office of the Independent National Electoral Xommission (INEC) in protest of the delay of results from Orhionmwon and Ovia South West Local Government councils.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of PDP’s Edo 2020 Campaign Council, Dan Orbih, the party raises concern over unexplained break in the announcement of results as it concerns Orhionmwon LGA and Ovia South West LGA.

    Read statement in full:

All the leaders of our great party in Benin City are hereby requested to make their way to the INEC office in Ramat Park, Benin City.

The INEC office has taken and unexplained break in the announcement of results as it concerns Orhionmwon LGA and Ovia South West LGA.

We are aware that the Collation officers for these LGAs are in the INEC with the result sheets, copies of which are with our agents.

Edo people will not tolerate any manipulation which INEC and its staff appear to be planning.

The mandate kindly and decisively given to Governor Godwin Obaseki by the good people of Edo State must not be compromised, subverted or toyed with.

We therefore demand for the immediate release of the result of these two local government areas.

The patience and resolve of Edo people must not tempered with.

    Signed

    Chief Dan Osi Orbih
    Chairman Edo 2020 Campaign Council.

  • #EdoDecides2020: Disregard PDP’s speculative results, Obaseki is already a goner – APC

#EdoDecides2020: Disregard PDP’s speculative results, Obaseki is already a goner – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State said its candidate and not Governor Godwin Obaseki, has won the majority vote in Saturday’s election.

The party said the votes have rejected Obaseki, while declaring that some results being released in the social media were manufactured by the Peoples Democratic Party.

In a statement Saturday night, John Mayaki, the director of publicity for Ize-Iyamu’s campaign accused the PDP of creating a fake website, where it releases speculative results, ascribing majority votes to Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Mayaki said the PDP’s ploy was laughable.

Mayaki said PDP’s “electoral vaudeville” will not secure them the elections.

He said the figures and images being bandied in the media are falsities that should be regarded without any seriousness.

“Before the election, we warned that PDP has prepared doctored election results and fake figures to make it appear that they will win the elections.

“They have even graduated to hosting a fake website for INEC where they release their concocted results.

“I want to urge all APC supporters in Edo to remain calm as we had majority of the votes in the state cast in our favour. A falling tree makes a louder crack than an erect tree.

“PDP has been churning out false figures. They released an edited picture, for instance, of Comrade Oshiomhole voting for PDP.

“They released news that PDP won in our candidate’s polling unit. These are all falsehood. We will not stoop to their level.”

He added that the false information being propagated on the media would not change the actual results in the ballot boxes and that they were all attempts by the PDP to “secure false evidence for the election tribunal, which they still plan to head to after they have lost.

“Just like their candidate, Mr Obaseki, PDP is trying to push a narrative that they have secured the majority votes and that if APC is declared the winner, then something funny has happened.

“The only funny thing that has happened is that PDP thugs tried to chase APC polling agents away from the spots of the elections.

“They managed to beat up APC election officials and in Ovia North East, they managed to kill one person, seriously maim another, and injure several others. Despite this attempt to prevent our people from voting, we have still been able to secure majority of the votes,” he said.

Mayaki therefore expressed confidence that when the final results are revealed the truth would come out and the mandate to move Edo state forward would be handed to APC, as the state had collectively rejected the governor.

He commended INEC for good arrangements put in place for the poll.

He said, “The accreditation is very easy, I have done that and they gave me the ballot paper. Where the ballot box is placed is covered and that means you can vote with some level of privacy.

“I cannot say that what is happening here is happening all over the state because the communication is not very good.

“I am happy I have been able to vote. I am very confident of winning and I just hope what is happening here is replicated all over the state.”
