2023 : Oborevwori takes an oath never to disappoint Deltans if voted Governor+Photos

…says I have the capacity to pilot its affairs

The Delta State PDP Governorship Candidate for the 2023 general elections and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has vowed never to disappoint Deltans if voted governor.

He equally declared that he has the capacity to pilot the affairs of the state if elected Governor in the forthcoming general elections.

Speaking at Isiokolo, Headquarters of Ethiope East Local Government Area of the State, where he was hosted by Chief Broderick Arigbodi, the Oloku of Agbon Kingdom, the PDP Gubernatorial Candidate said that having served as the longest speaker in the history of Delta State, he has been well equipped for the position of the State Governor.

He said that; “I have been in the House for seven years now and speaker for six years running and with the experience that I have gathered, I can manage the state very well because I know the workings of the state. I’m the longest serving speaker in the history of Delta State, from one Assembly to another, no stain and I know that I am capable of piloting the affairs of the state if elected Governor. The journey is not easy, but God will take control”.

According to the Speaker who is also the National Deputy Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, the Atiku-Okowa ticket is the only ticket that can solve Nigeria’s problems and rebuild the nation again.

“Atiku-Okowa ticket is the only ticket that can solve Nigeria’s problems, that can rescue this nation, rebuild our country again. Seven and half years of APC policy has collapsed. APC has nothing to campaign with. The APC-led government has failed Nigerians and we must vote out the party now. We will suffer APC with our votes in the forthcoming general elections. Atiku-Okowa will cure the ills of the society. Vote massively for PDP”, Rt Hon Oborevwori said.

    While commending Chief Broderick Arigbodi, the Oloku of Agbon kingdom, for hosting him, the PDP Governorship Candidate said that;
“It is only God that gives power, not man and in politics, there is time and season. My brother, for bringing me to your community and hosting me today, you have done a great thing, you have established a relationship between me and the people of this place and Ethiope East people will not be left behind in my administration. I am here to jolly with you in order to show my appreciation. God will continue to bless you. This day will be a memorable day for Ethiope East, as you have honoured me, God will honour you”.

Earlier, Chief Broderick Arigbodi, the Oloku of Agbon kingdom said that; “We decided to host you here today to pledge our loyalty to you. We will vote for you and all PDP candidates in the 2023 general elections”.

The Ceremony was attended by the Majority Leader of the House of Assembly, Hon Ferguson Onwo, PDP Delta Central Senatorial District Candidate, Chief Ighoyota Amori, PDP House of Representatives Candidate for Ethiope Federal Constituency, Hon Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, Hon Talib Tebite, Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Area, Hon Victor Ofobrukweta and host of others.

  • Delta: Obiodeh predicts Oborevwori will emerge victorious

Delta: Obiodeh predicts Oborevwori will emerge victorious

As thousands of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) continue to defect to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, a chieftain of the party, Hon. Chief Emamusi Obiodeh has predicted massive victory for the party’s governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

Obiodeh, gave this prediction on Tuesday 31st day of January 2023, in an exclusive interview with journalists in Oleh, the headquarters of the Isoko South local government area.

The PDP Chieftain who hails from Igbide in Isoko South Local Government Area of the State, said that Oborevwori would dwarf his opponents in the forthcoming governorship election in the State.

He remarked that Oborevwori enjoys unassailable lead in the governorship race due to his competence, character and compassion for the masses.

In his words, he stated, “Flowing from the experience which he has acquired from his days as elected Councillor in Okpe Local Government in 1996, and who was later appointed as Special Assistant during Chief James Ibori administration, and again, Special Adviser in the Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan’s administration, his wealth of experience speaks for him”.

Speaking further, Obiodeh stated that in 2015, Oborevwori was first elected into the State House of Assembly and re-elected again in 2019, where he is currently donned in the speakership robe as the longest serving Speaker of the State Assembly since the creation of the State. He further highlighted the fact that Oborevwori is also the National Deputy Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria. Oboiodeh therefore expressed the sentiment that the Speaker’s longevity in the corridors of power has not been shrouded in any form of accusations, misuse of office or misappropriation of public funds.

Obiodeh posited that the acumen for good governance and leadership are largely about the management of people and resources, and these qualities which the Speaker has continued to demonstrate are some of the reasons which necessitated the recent defection of Otunba Nick Ovuakporie, the APC State Secretary and many other high profile APC stalwarts to the PDP.

In his words, “We are growing everyday as a party and the Isoko people have joined other Deltans to give massive support for Sheriff Oborevwori as governor.”

Obiodeh emphasised that the Isoko people will give Oborevwori block votes for his leadership qualities and affinity as a son in-law to the Isoko people. He therefore charged the people to collect their PVCs and mobilise support for Oborevwori and other candidates of the party to ensure victory at the polls, also stating that besides the fact that Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is eminently qualified to be the Governor of Delta State, he is also our in-law here in Isoko, as the wife is our sister from Iyede and we cannot afford to leave our sister and deny her the opportunity of becoming the first lady of Delta State. According to Obiodeh, the children of Oborevwori are marternally Isokos, so such affinity cannot be taken for granted.

In his final words, Obiodeh assured that all eligible voters in Isoko are being mobilized to vote massively for Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and all other candidates of the PDP.

  • Na Sheriff and Deltans’ Affirmation of Oborevwori – By Ajerese Okpo

Na Sheriff and Deltans’ Affirmation of Oborevwori – By Ajerese Okpo

    By Ajerese Okpo

The 2023 general elections are around the corner and activities woven around them are at fever pitch. The candidates at different levels of political engagements are campaigning and making claims and counter-claims. The scene is rowdy and crowded and at times it is difficult to listen, hear and discern what is really going on. But as the din continues amidst the clashes of interest and opinions, the people who constitute the electorate and for whom politics and governance should be about occasionally pause to evaluate the candidates and what they are promising to offer as well as take a look at their antecedents regarding what they did with past opportunities. Nigeria’s democracy is evolving and the people are increasingly becoming aware that their fate and the key to a stable, just, and prosperous society are in their hands, especially in their votes and ability to discern and make the right decision. The jury is out there in the form of opinions and informal polls regarding who and who the people have affirmed as the election approaches. The people have had to evaluate these candidates and also listened to their campaigns and hear them talk about their manifestos and vision.

The foregoing can aptly be said about the situation of the ongoing politicking in Delta State as it concerns the Governorship election. As things stand, there are four major contenders for the office of the Governor of Delta State namely; Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the incumbent Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Kenneth Gbagi of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chief Great Ogboru of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). These four men have so far been going round the State and telling the people what their vision is for Delta State. Any interested observer and follower of events in Delta State would easily decipher that the majority of the people of Delta State have thrown their weight behind the candidacy of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori of the PDP. The people have come to see the other candidates as hustlers who are desperately in pursuit of raw power without creed or vision or the ennobling tendencies that will facilitate the development of Delta State.

A recent tour of the State by a select group of fact finders who set out to gauge the mood of Deltans and seek their opinion on the choice of Governor in the next election revealed that the people are expectant and are awaiting the moment for them to affirm their choice of Sheriff Oborevwori as the Governor of Delta State through the ballot. The various people that were spoken to did affirm “Na Sheriff we want as our Governor”. The expression “Na Sheriff” has become a catchphrase which almost every Deltan utters to reflect their preference for his candidacy. Interestingly, a new movement emerged around this idea of Sheriff Oborevwori becoming Governor and the movement is the Sheriffication Movement. It has been gathering momentum across Delta State and those who feel attracted to it are said to be Sheriffied. These are really exciting times for the people of Delta State who have come to see Oborevwori as the ideal embodiment of their hopes and aspirations.

It is just reasonable to explore or explain the reasons why the people of Delta State have come to adopt the idea of Oborevwori becoming the Governor of Delta State as their priority. First among these reasons is that Oborevwori rose and evolved from among the people. Those who dislike him describe him as belonging to the streets. But they forget that the streets are where the people belong and the people identify with Oborevwori as their own. He has made it clear that he is in politics to make life better for the people. He has championed the people’s cause for close to thirty years now and they are convinced that he is their advocate for a better life. Oborevwori has become a grassroots politician who understands the direction of the wind as it affects the people.

His experience in politics which spans the executive and legislative arms of Government also puts him in good stead. He has been consistent and he is among the most enduring names in the politics of Delta State. In both arms, Oborevwori has been able to build a broad base consensus across Delta State. He is seen as a unifying factor, a bridge builder, and mobilizer. His acceptability is reflected in his emergence twice as Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly. He has also served as the longest Speaker ever in the history of Delta State. He enjoys the privilege of being the only Deltan to be twice elected as Speaker and also as the longest-serving. These are not accidental.

Oborevwori’s manifesto which is anchored on the widely accepted concept of MORE puts him shoulder and head taller than the other candidates. Through the manifesto, it appears that he alone took time to think about the development problems of Delta State, her aspirations and strategies to evolving a State that will not be left behind in the race to the New World Order. Oborevwori’s MORE agenda is about Meaningful development, Opportunities for all, Reliable reforms and Enhanced peace and security. The four angles to the manifesto cover every vista of human development such as education, healthcare, security, energy, transportation, agriculture, industrialization, ICT, women and youth development, etc. The manifesto speaks to issues that can leapfrog Delta State in the march to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals timeline.

Delta PDP rubbishes Basil Okoh’s piece on Oborevwori, says it is a sounding cymbal that signifies nothing

Delta PDP has rubbished a write-up by Basil Okoh on its guber candidate, Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori describing it as a sounding cymbal that signifies nothing.

This was contained in a release signed by Dr. Ifeanyi M. Osuoza,
Deputy Director, Media/Publicity Committee, Delta PDP Campaign Council and State Publicity Secretary.

Osuoza poopoohed the piece stating that:” he exposed himself as a horse for hire because his article when viewed critically was actually a fitting critique of the person of Ovie Omo-Agege.

“The article which aims to excoriate Sheriff Oborevwori indeed threw up arguments that points to the fact that this political jobber has never been engaged in real-life experiences to put him up as one that should be taken seriously.

” For instance, Basil Okoh wrote: “It is in the sense of that profound presence of the past that Sheriff comes short as his yesterday does not recommend him for responsibility or political acceptance. If the past offers a guide to the present, then Delta State voters should be running scared of Sherriff’s past life before his foray into politics.

““The contrast with Omo-Agege is so stark and distinctive that it would appear that the two men came from two different worlds and two conflicting epochs. While Sherriff cannot make any claims to admirable progeny or breeding that could have prepared him for office or leadership responsibility compared to Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege…”

With this clear understanding of the intellectual and real-life experience limitations of Basil Okoh, it has become crucial to expose this simpleton by referring him to write-ups in the public domain about the steady upbringing of Sheriff Oborevwori.

“In an article with the headline: “Delta 2023 and the case for Oborevwori,” Dr. Festus Okubor wrote: “All through the ages, great leaders who impacted their generations and times rose from among the people and suffered as they emerged from nothingness to become something. The examples of Winston Churchill of Great Britain, Abraham Lincoln of America, Nnamdi Azikiwe of Nigeria, Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana, Obafemi Awolowo of Nigeria, just to mention a few reminds us that life for great leaders was never a walk in a beautiful park. A more recent and contemporary example has been Barack Obama. These leaders have certain things in common. One of which is found in their humble background and beginning.”

    Read full release below:

“The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council in Delta State has been called to the failed attempt by an off-price specialist, one Basil Okoh who tried to undermine the rich pedigree of the high flying Governorship candidate of the PDP and Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

“Delta PDP’s Publicity Secretary, and Deputy Director, Media/Publicity of the Campaign Council, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, while describing Okoh as a political jobber and hack writer said the political never do well had in his usual fit of bad temper tried disastrously to compare the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the toast of Deltans with his (Okoh’s) paymaster, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate, who is currently assailed by a barrage of integrity questions.

“The PDP spokesman said Okoh in a mediocre and unimaginative write-up: “OVIE VERSUS SHERRIFF: CHARACTER AND COMPETENCE SHOULD RULE DELTA STATE” exposed himself as a horse for hire because his article when viewed critically was actually a fitting critique of the person of Ovie Omo-Agege. The article which aims to excoriate Sheriff Oborevwori indeed threw up arguments that points to the fact that this political jobber has never been engaged in real-life experiences to put him up as one that should be taken seriously. For instance, Basil Okoh wrote: “It is in the sense of that profound presence of the past that Sheriff comes short as his yesterday does not recommend him for responsibility or political acceptance. If the past offers a guide to the present, then Delta State voters should be running scared of Sherriff’s past life before his foray into politics.

“The contrast with Omo-Agege is so stark and distinctive that it would appear that the two men came from two different worlds and two conflicting epochs. While Sherriff cannot make any claims to admirable progeny or breeding that could have prepared him for office or leadership responsibility compared to Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege…”

“With this clear understanding of the intellectual and real-life experience limitations of Basil Okoh, it has become crucial to expose this simpleton by referring him to write-ups in the public domain about the steady upbringing of Sheriff Oborevwori. In an article with the headline: “Delta 2023 and the case for Oborevwori,” Dr.

“It was as if Dr. Okubor knew that hack writers like Basil Okoh would one day come up with such infantile and shallow reasoning just to excoriate Oborevwori, so he came out with the above article with which he completely exposed Basil Okoh’s display of little intellectual value. Okubor also said: “Sheriff as Oborevwori is widely and fondly called, came from a humble background and worked hard at odd and menial jobs to make ends meet. He never allowed his background to become a deterrent in his sojourn in life.

” He started from the very beginning with no helper except God. Like every child of his time and place, Sheriff went to Primary and Secondary Schools and earned a pride of place among his peers. He knew the streets, became street wise, and enjoyed massive street credibility. He soon became the champion of boys and a symbol of their defence.

“Despite his underprivileged condition and becoming the champion of the downtrodden, Sheriff was never in defiance of the status quo. What he did was to get education and join politics and begin his advocacy for a better life for the common people who populate the streets. This stance earned him post after post in the executive arm of Government and the ordinary people on the street who constitute the bulk of humanity saw his genuineness and acclaimed him as truly one of their own. They saw him as the advocate for the youths and the masses.

“These same people came together in 2014 with a message that Sheriff should run for the Okpe House of Assembly seat and have a chance to truly and fully represent them in the legislative arm. He listened to their call and his victory at the polls in 2015 was overwhelming and unprecedented. That was the beginning of the mystique or icon called Sheriff that has today become an idea known as Sheriffication,” Dr. Festus Okubor testified.

“But how do members of the observing public perceive Ovie Omo-Agege, who Basil Okoh for lack of intellect is trying to whitewash? At this stage it’s important to also call attention to the write-up by one Ejiro Idama sometime ago on Omo-Agege. In the article published widely with the headline, “Ovie Omo-Agege, in case you have forgotten,” Idama said: “The lackey Deputy Senate President of the rubber stamp and most docile Senate ever in Nigeria, Senator Augustine Ovie Omo-Agege is in the news again as always for the wrong reason.

” A good example of political prostitution, Augustine Omo-Agege, he must be frightened of the name Augustine now, has suffered from an illusion of becoming Governor of Delta State for seventeen years.

“Omo-Agege who lived an obscure life in the United States of America (USA) after having been severely indicted for unethical practices, fled to Nigeria and not capable of court appearances joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hoping to climb on the back of his Chief Judge father. Without a naira to his name, Ovie Omo-Agege survived at the mercy of friends.

” He failed woefully when he tried to run for the House of Representatives seat. The kindhearted Governor of Delta State at that time, Chief James Ibori took pity on him and appointed him as a Personal Assistant.

“In his quest for power, he stepped out to contest for the Governorship of the State and failed woefully. He then became a serial election loser. Apart from the 2006 primaries that he lost, he failed in two Governorship elections in 2011.

“He failed in his attempt to become Senator in 2013. He failed in his attempt to become Governor in the 2014 primaries. He failed trying to be a Senator in 2015 until the court smuggled him into the Red Chambers. Agege has also been caught up in serial political prostitution. He was in PDP, then AC, he was in RPN, joined ACN, returned to PDP, ran to Labour Party, and later jumped into APC. His record of political prostitution is second to none in Nigeria.”

Idama further said about Omo-Agege: “Agege is showing off as a political force, but this is absolutely untrue. He is just a political straw man pretending to be a champion. He has always ridden to power and influence on the back of benefactors like Chief James Ibori and Chief Great Ogboru, good and selfless leaders that he later betrayed and brutally stabbed in the back. Agege is also a slimy opportunist who will do anything including groveling and crying to get power. The story of the mace theft and the resultant reward for him as Deputy Senate President and how he knelt down in slavish gratitude to President Buhari continued to hunt the Urhobo people for whom it is a taboo for a Chief which he is to kneel.

“ Let him tell Deltans how much he was worth between 2003 and 2005 and then how much he was worth in 2007.

“But for the fact that we live in a society of forgive and forget, Agege’s record of betrayal is unmatched. He betrayed the Urhobo people when he snatched ballot boxes to undermine the Urhobo choice of Governorship candidate in the 2007 election. He was chased into the swamp where he took cover all night. He betrayed his foremost benefactor, Chief James Ibori. He betrayed Chief Otega Emerhor and Chief Great Ogboru. He has betrayed everybody that he was or is associated with.

“Agege has also betrayed the Delta State ideal of rotational Governorship which was adopted to promote fairness, equity, peace, and stability. His uncontrolled aggression and inordinate ambition made him to disown the rotational principle in Delta State politics. He contested when it was the turn of Delta South. He also contested when it was the turn of Delta North.

“He also manipulated the APC Governorship primaries in 2019 to the extent that results were declared when contestants were still looking for the venue of the election.

There are also the many lies he has told Nigerians and Deltans. He lied that he saved President Buhari from impeachment when in truth there was no attempt to impeach the President. He lied about being in support of power shift when in truth he was the Chief Campaigner for Senator Ahmed Lawan for President hoping he would be his running mate. He lied about midwifing the electoral bill, but the truth was that he voted against electronic voting. He has also failed to complete the constitution amendment assignment. Is this the man that wants to be Governor?”

    Need we say more?

“It is hoped that from the public perception observatory by those who know Omo-Agege that Basil Okoh, the quintessential hack writer, and his quest for stomach infrastructure would have learned some lessons about his oga.

“Yet for us in the Delta PDP and the Campaign Council, Basil Okoh’s tirade is uncharitable and a non-event. That is why it is dismissed for what it is, “a sounding brass and a tinkling cymbal” that signifies nothing.

Oborevwori will deepen my administration’s performance – Okowa

Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta has assured the people of the state that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, will consolidate on his administration’s performance, if elected.

Okowa gave the assurance during the PDP campaign at Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state, on Tuesday.

He said that Oborevwori had learnt a lot as the longest-serving Speaker of the State House of Assembly and would continue with the ongoing projects and programmes of his administration.

“I have known Oborevwori for many years now; he has been Speaker of the House of Assembly for six years and as the longest serving speaker, he has understudied our programmes and policies.

“He has learnt a lot and has given the assurance that he will be fair to all parts of Delta and ensure that no ongoing project is abandoned in any part of the state.

“Aside ongoing projects, he will also ensure continuation of our youths and women empowerment programmes,” he said.

Okowa, also the PDP vice-presidential candidate, gave the assurance that the Atiku-Okowa manifesto would unite the country to fight insecurity.

He said that a PDP administration would be willing to assist states to set up their own police systems to complement the federal police and other security agencies in fighting insecurity.

He also said that the Atiku-Okowa administration would ensure that federal roads were attended and promote functional and stable educational system in Nigeria.

“Thank God that I am going to Abuja and we will ensure that all federal roads are attended to.

”The eight months ASUU strike kept our children at home for so long but throughout the period of strike, all our universities in Delta were in session.

“They were in session because we have taken care of all they needed for the educational advancement of the state.

“So, for Delta to continue on the path of progress and development, let’s vote for all candidates of the PDP,” he said.

On his part, former Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan, urged the people to vote all PDP candidates to enable Okowa to become the vice-president of the country.

He said a vote for the party would ensure proper allocation of oil resources produced from the state.

Earlier, Oborevwori commended Okowa for the many projects in the area, including a Technical College at Obiaruku, ongoing construction of 27 kilometres of roads with over 70 per cent completed.

He added that no fewer than 400 indigenes of the area had benefited from the state’s empowerment programmes.

Oborevwori promised that his administration would construct the Amai and Arhagba-Orogun roads.

He also promised that he would be equitable to all parts of Delta and not abandon any ongoing project across the state.

Also the Chairman of the party, Chief Kingsley Esiso, commended the leaders and PDP faithful for the massive turnout at the rally.

  • 2023: My biggest wish is to help free people from lack and deprivation – Oborevwori

2023: My biggest wish is to help free people from lack and deprivation – Oborevwori

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), governorship candidate in Delta State, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has shared his vision of becoming the next governor of the state.

Oborevwori, who is also the incumbent Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, said his biggest wish was to see how he can be of help to free people from lack and deprivation in society.

Ahead of the 2023 elections in February, he assured Deltans of good governance, and also noted that politics is an important means of affecting the people for good.

In an interview with selected journalists, which will be fully published by TheNewsGuru.com on Saturday, Oborevwori espoused extensively why he wants to become the governor of Delta State, he revealed that from childhood he has carried the burden of taking up the responsibility of making life better for the people.

“I should begin by telling you about my mission in politics. It is really about the people. And I have come to understand quite early in life that the most important means of affecting the people for good is politics. When I was growing up, I saw a lot of deprivation and poverty in society and my biggest wish was to see how I can be of help to free people from lack and deprivation. As I went through primary and secondary schools the role of politics and government in making life better for the people was made central in our social studies, government, and economics lessons and textbooks”, he said.

“We also got taught that the surest and legitimate way into government is politics. So from childhood, I carried the burden of taking up the responsibility of making life better for the people. That was my motivation. Now joining politics at the grassroots saw me growing and evolving. I served as a councilor and I also served different governments as special assistant, senior special assistant, and as special adviser. I made sure I put the interest of the people and loyalty to the government above my personal consideration. Then the good people of Okpe constituency decided that they wanted me to represent them in the Delta State House of Assembly. I contested and won the election and became a member of the State House of Assembly”

“Not too long after, my colleagues and fellow lawmakers elected me as the Speaker of the House and by that, I became the head of an arm of government in Delta State. This marked a turning point in my political career and evolution. I was no longer just a Member representing the Okpe constituency, but the Speaker presiding over the State legislature. That act made me a Pan-Deltan and it changed my consciousness and perception. As Speaker of the State House of Assembly, the entire state became my constituency. That position enabled me to appreciate what Delta State is all about, her development aspirations, her challenges, and the colourations and preferences of the people. After the general elections in 2019, my colleagues in the House of Assembly expressed a vote of confidence in me by returning me as Speaker for a second time, that gesture opened my eyes to new vistas of possibilities for me and Delta State”.

My return as Speaker is unprecedented in the history of Delta State. My colleagues said that they were returning me as Speaker because I am a Pan-Deltan and that I easily build consensus. They also said that I showed a deep understanding of the development challenges of Delta State and that for the State to develop without obstruction, I should continue to lead the legislative arm”.

“I took time to evaluate what my colleagues said and I realized that I have unconsciously promoted politics in the service of the people in the House of Assembly and by extension the State. I soon started receiving encouragements to take my peoples’ politics ideology higher by seeking to be governor of Delta State. I am not one to run away from a challenge especially when it has to do with the people. I thought seriously about it. I also prayed. As a political scientist who is in practical politics”,

“I thought of so many possibilities. I sat down to collate my thoughts arising from my burning desire to use politics to promote the welfare of the people. I also asked myself, after speakership, what next? How else do I serve the interest of the people? It was at that point that I resolved and listened to the call to run for the governorship of Delta State. So, the response to your question on why I want to be governor is to serve the people of Delta State and enhance their welfare and security. My reason and justification is people-centric. It is all for the people”.
