    Managing Director found dead in own hotel in Ilorin

    The Managing Director of a popular hotel in Ilorin has been found dead in one of the hotel rooms.

    Police spokesman in Kwara, CSP Okasanmi Ajayi, stated in Ilorin on Friday that a supervisor at the hotel reported a suspected homicide to the police in Ilorin on Thursday.

    He added that a team of detectives was immediately dispatched to the hotel and the deceased was found lying motionless on the hotel room bed.

    Ajayi stated that the body showed no sign of physical violence and assured that the police would investigate the cause of death further.

    “Doctors at a hospital confirmed the hotel boss dead and the body was deposited in a morgue pending autopsy.

    “Details of the investigation will be made public as soon as possible,’’ Ajayi assured.

    The Commissioner of Police in Kwara, Mr Paul Odama, has ordered the arrest of a police inspector, Stephen Yohana, who was in a drunken situation in a viral video.

    Yohana is serving in Share Division, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State Police Command.

    The state Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Okasanmi Ajayi, made this known in a statement on Sunday that the drunken policeman in a viral video had been identified to be Yohana.

    “The Kwara State Police Command is miffed with the highly repulsive video of a police inspector by the name of Stephen Yohana presently making the rounds on various social media platforms.

    “After viewing the video, the Commissioner of Police, Paul Odama, swiftly directed that the policeman be identified and arrested.

    ”The command wishes to state that the police inspector, who is attached to Share Division in Irepodun LGA of Kwara State, has been identified and discovered to be currently undergoing medical examination in the police clinic, to ascertain the state of his mental health.

    “It was observed that his case is more medical than alcoholic.

    “The result of his medical examination will determine the next action to be taken against him.

    “Consequently, the CP has directed that the inspector be put under close observation by his immediate supervisor, the Divisional Police Officer of Share Division pending the conclusion of his treatment,” it added.

    Two students of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete Tobiloba Daniel and Arewa Abayomi have been found dead naked in their hostel room.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the Kwara State Police Command confirmed the ugly incident to newsmen in Ilorin the Kwara state capital.

    Kwara police spokesman, SP Okasanmi Ajayi revealed that both students are in 200 level and were found dead inside their hostel room and other students called the police.

    He disclosed that “the door of their room was pulled down and their corpses were taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, UITH, for autopsy”.

    Okasanmi said the investigation into the matter has commenced.

    The Director, of University Relations of KWASU, Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, noted the institution is yet to be properly informed about the incident and could only comment on it when that’s done.

    However, She said the institution has started an investigation on the matter and will comment on its findings at the appropriate time.

    Sources, however, hinted that “We suspect they are lovers and we became concerned when they were not seen during the ongoing examination in the university and also in their class for three days.

    “It was when some of their friends got to their hostel outside the school that they found them both dead and naked.

    “But we suspect it is a case of poison,” according to the sources.

    Teenager commits suicide in Kwara over failure to pass exam

    The police in Kwara said a 17-year-old student of Offa Grammar School in Offa Local Government Area committed suicide over his failure to pass his promotion examination from SS1 to SS2.

    This is contained in a statement issued by the State Police Public Relation Officer, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, in Ilorin.

    He said the corpse of the deceased was removed from a tree behind Ariya Garden Hotel, Offa, by a team of policemen from the Divisional Police Headquarters, Offa, at about 15.34hours on Tuesday.

    He said that the student was asked to repeat the class because he failed the exam.

    ”The corpse was taken to the Offa General Hospital for autopsy, while an investigation has been launched into the matter,” he said.

    In another development, the spokesman said an alleged notorious cultist on the wanted list of the anti-cultism team and other members of his gang, on a mission to carry out another gruesome attack on a target yet to be identified, were traced and arrested in a supermarket located in the Unity area of Ilorin on Tuesday.

    “The Commissioner of Police in Kwara, Tuesday Assayomo, advised parents to monitor their wards and show them love at all times”, he said.

    Police rescue 2 men from kidnappers den in Kwara

    The Police Command in Kwara has rescued two men, Samuel Faremi and Emmanuel Adeyemi from kidnappers in Obbo Ayegunle in Ekiti Local Government Area of the State.

    This is contained in a statement issued by the Command Spokesman, SP. Okasanmi Ajayi on Thursday in Ilorin.

    He said that the victims were abducted by suspected kidnappers who invaded Obbo Ayegunle town at about 8 p.m. on Feb. 9, while shooting sporadically into the air.

    According to him, the speedy intervention of the police tactical teams stationed in Ekiti/Eruku axis, local vigilantes and hunters forced the abductors to abandon their victims.

    “The hot chase and the firepower of the Police teams forced the abductors to abandon their victims, thus making them escape into the forest with gunshot injuries,’’ Ajayi said.

    He commended the residents of Obbo Ayegunle for the timely information to the command that eventually helped in the successful rescue of the victims.

    The spokesman added that the rescued victims, who were medically examined and found to be fit, had been released to their families.

    Ajayi said that six expanded AK-47 ammunition and one expended cartridge were recovered at the scene.

    He said that the Commissioner of Police in Kwara, Tuesday Assayomo advised health facilities in the state to promptly alert the police of any patient with gunshot injuries seeking medical attention.

    The commissioner assured that the suspects would be tracked, arrested and prosecuted.
