[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Wheat vs tares?

    Read: Mathew 13:24-29

    Meditation verse:

“But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among  the wheat, and went away” (Mathew 13:25 NIV).

In the parable of the weeds, Jesus compares the Kingdom of heaven to a man  who sowed good seed in his field. Yet, while he slept, the enemy came quietly  and sowed weeds among the wheat. When the wheat sprouted, so did the tares.

Satan, the accuser of the brethren, seeks to corrupt the good seed of God’s  Word in your life. His tares show up as spiritual apathy, unbelief,  discouragement, marital discord, sickness, financial hardship, and many other  distractions. His goal is to choke the fruits of righteousness and hinder your  growth in Christ. Notice carefully: the enemy could only sow while the man was  asleep. In the same way, the enemy exploits spiritual negligence, prayerlessness,  and complacency.

How then can you guard against tares?

    Watch and pray (Matthew 26:41).

Hold firmly to sound doctrine (1 Timothy 4:16).

Walk humbly and carefully (1 Corinthians 10:12).

Pursue spiritual growth diligently (2 Peter 1:5–8).

Fill your mind with godly thoughts (Philippians 4:8).

By staying awake spiritually and cultivating the disciplines of faith, prayer, and  obedience, you protect the field of your life. As 2 Peter 1:10 reminds us:  “Therefore brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure,  for if you do these things, you will never stumble.”

    Prayer for today:

Lord, please help me to stay awake and alert in my walk with You. Strengthen  me to guard the good seed of Your Word in my life, so that no tare of the enemy  will take root, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

  • [Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: The power of your words

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: The power of your words

    Read: James 3:5-12

    Meditation verse:

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, `and those who love it will eat  its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21).

I once learned a valuable life lesson from my youngest child. Whenever someone  jokingly called her a “naughty girl,” she would burst into tears and shout, “I am  not a naughty girl!” Even at that young age, she refused to accept negative  words spoken over her. Today, as a focused and diligent nineteen-year-old, she  continues to embody the truth that words shape reality.

Our words are powerful. They can create, build, and give life—or they can  wound, destroy, and tear down. The Bible warns us to be mindful of how we use  them. “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for  necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers” (Ephesians 4:29).  Jesus also said that we will give an account for every idle word spoken (Matthew  12:36–37).

James reminds us of the tongue’s power: “See how great a forest a little fire  kindles! And the tongue is a fire… it defiles the whole body” (James 3:5–6).  Words, though small, carry immense power for either blessing or destruction. Learn to speak life—over yourself, your family, your work, and your future. Just  as importantly, when others speak words that contradict your vision or identity  in Christ, do not remain silent. Silence often signals agreement. Instead, reject  such words, and affirm God’s truth over your life. Remember, there is power in  words.

Ask God to help you set a guard over your mouth. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach  you to speak only words that build, heal, and impart grace. As you step out each  day, be intentional about rejecting every negative word and declaring only God’s  truth over your life.

  • [Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Scatter your seeds on the ground

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Scatter your seeds on the ground

    Read: MARK 4:26-32

    Meditation verse:

“But when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots  out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade” (Mark  4:32).

God’s principles cannot be broken, and His Word contains timeless truths for  successful daily living. One of these is the principle of sowing and reaping. No  farmer expects a harvest without first planting seeds. In today’s reading, Jesus  likens the kingdom of God to a man scattering seed on the ground.

The man  simply throws his seed in different directions and goes about his life—sleeping,  waking, and waiting. Mysteriously, the seeds sprout, grow, and eventually  become a mighty plant that provides shade and shelter for the birds. He does  not fully understand how it happens, but he trusts the principle at work.

This is how God works in our lives. Whatever you do sincerely for the Lord— sharing the gospel, encouraging others, giving generously, serving faithfully— will grow in ways you may not immediately see. Your efforts may seem small,  weak, or unnoticed, but God’s power backs you up, and His Word is the true  agent of growth.

Ecclesiastes 11:5–6 reminds us: “As you do not know the way  of the wind, or how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child, so you  do not know the works of God who makes everything. In the morning sow your  seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; for you do not know which  will prosper, either this or that, or whether both alike will be good.”

As this new month begins, keep scattering your seeds—acts of love, kindness,  service, and obedience. Do not grow weary, for in due season, you will reap a  bountiful harvest. Remember, as long as the earth remains, seedtime and  harvest will never cease.

    Say this prayer:

“Lord, help me to faithfully sow seeds of love, service, and obedience this  month. May every seed I scatter for Your name’s sake yield a harvest that  glorifies You, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

  • [Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: The man at the centre

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: The man at the centre

    Read: 2 Corinthians 4:7-18

    Meditation verse:

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me, you may have peace. In the  world, you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the  world.

A man once wanted to keep his little son occupied while he worked in his study.  He handed the boy a puzzle of a world map, thinking it would take hours to  assemble. But within minutes, the boy returned with the map perfectly fixed.

Amazed, the father asked how he had done it so quickly. The boy replied, “Dad,  there was a picture of a man on the back of the map. I figured that if I put the  man together in the centre, the world would fall into place in front.”

What a powerful lesson! Life often feels like a puzzle with scattered pieces— family, career, health, finances, and relationships. But when Jesus, the Son of  God, is at the centre of our lives, everything else falls into place. Minister Eben  captured this truth in his song: “At the centre of it all, it’s You that I see… There  is power in Your name. Miracles happen in Your name.”

Jesus Himself promised that life on earth will bring trials, but He also assured us  that He has already overcome the world (John 16:33). He is bigger than the  biggest, stronger than the strongest, and greater than the greatest.

When you  fix your eyes on Him instead of the storms, you will experience His peace and  victory. The most important decision you can ever make is to invite Jesus Christ  to be at the centre of your life. Have you asked Him into your heart?

Here’s a prayer you can pray today:

    Prayer of Salvation:

“Dear Lord, I am a sinner in need of Your grace. Thank You, Jesus, for dying to set  me free from sin. Please forgive me for all my sins and come into my heart. Be  my Lord and Saviour. Fill me with Your Spirit and enable me to live for You. In  Jesus’ name, Amen.”

As you step into a new month, keep Jesus at the centre of your life. No matter  the trials around you, keep your focus above it all and you will live in the victory  He already won for you.

  • [Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Be like the coffee bean

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Be like the coffee bean

    Read: 2 Corinthians 4:7-18

    Meditation verse:

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more  exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (2 Corinthians 4:17).

A young lady, weary of life’s unending challenges, once went to her mother for  help. It seemed that as soon as one problem was solved, another would arise.  Her mother silently took her to the kitchen, placed three pots of water on the  fire, and put a carrot in the first, an egg in the second, and coffee beans in the  third.

After a while, she removed them. The carrot, once hard, had become soft.  The egg, once fragile, had turned hard inside. But the coffee beans were  different—they had transformed the boiling water itself into something sweet  and fragrant.

The lesson is profound: adversity affects people differently. Some, like the  carrot, begin strong but become weak and broken under pressure. Others, like  the egg, appear fragile but emerge hardened, bitter, and unyielding. Yet, the  coffee beans rise above adversity by transforming it, producing something  better than before.

As a child of God, you are the salt of the earth and the light of the world  (Matthew 5:13–14). Do not allow life’s challenges to strip away your strength or  harden your heart. Instead, let trials refine you, adding value to your life and to  those around you.

Every challenge you face is not wasted—it is working in you “a far more  exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” Be like the coffee bean. Let adversity  bring out the fragrance of Christ in you, making you stronger, better, and more  fruitful for His Kingdom.

  • [Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Do business till I come

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Do business till I come

    Read: LUKE 19:11-27

    Meditation verse:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name  of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all  things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the  end of the age” (Matt 28: 19-20).

Before His departure, Jesus commanded His followers to “do business till I  come”—to actively engage in Kingdom work until His return. He made it clear  that each one would one day give an account of their stewardship. As Matthew  24:46–51 warns, blessed is the servant whom the Master finds faithfully serving  at His coming. But the unfaithful, careless servant will face judgment.

In today’s parable, a nobleman entrusted his servants with resources and  instructed them to trade with it while he was away. On his return, those who  had been faithful were rewarded with rulership. But one servant, who hid his  talent and produced nothing, was condemned as wicked and unprofitable.

This parable is a mirror for us today. God has entrusted you with talents, time,  spiritual gifts, money, and influence. These are not for selfish use alone, but to  invest in Kingdom expansion—especially in the business of soul-winning.  Scripture declares, “He who wins souls is wise” (Proverbs 11:30).

Everywhere you go, in whatever you do, you are called to be a witness for Christ.  This is the Father’s heart, and this is your Kingdom assignment. Be faithful in the  business of the Kingdom, so that at Christ’s return, you will hear Him say: “Well  done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord” (Matthew  25:23).

    Prayer for today:

Lord, help me to be faithful in the Kingdom business of soul winning. Teach me to use my time, talents, and resources for Your glory, so that when  You return, I may be found profitable in Your service. Amen.

  • [Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: The eagle Christian

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: The eagle Christian

    Read: Job 39:27-30

    Meditation verse:

“But those who wait on the Lord, shall renew their strength; they shall mount  up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and  not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).

Eagles do not shy away from storms. Do you know how an eagle responds to  one? It faces the direction of the storm, lifts its head high, spreads its wings, and  rides the winds. Instead of being destroyed, the eagle is carried higher, rising  above the storm.

Another striking feature of the eagle is its piercing vision. From  high in the sky, it spots prey far below and, with precision, swoops down to seize  it. Eagles also build their nests on high crags and rocky strongholds. Their young  feed on blood, and wherever there is a carcass, there you will find the eagle.

The metaphor of “the eagle Christian” is clear in these characteristics. Like the  eagle, a believer does not run from life’s storms but faces them with courage,  mounting on the wings of prayer and faith, rising above adversity. The eagle  Christian’s dwelling place is on the Rock—Jesus Christ—the sure foundation and  eternal stronghold.

Colossians 3:2 reminds us: “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the  earth.” As an eagle Christian, your vision is sharp and your focus clear—fixed on  the advancement of God’s Kingdom. Jesus said, “Seek first the kingdom of God  and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew  6:33). And just as young eagles feed on blood, so too the eagle Christian raises  their children under the covenant of Christ’s blood, pointing them to salvation  and teaching them to walk in covenant truth.

So, the question is this: are you living as an eagle Christian—bold, focused, lifted,  and established on the Rock? Why not ask God to make you an eagle Christian.  To Help you rise above life’s storms, keep your vision fixed on His Kingdom, and  lead your family, into the covenant of His blood.

  • [Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: The best is yet to come

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: The best is yet to come

    Read: John 2:1-11

    Meditation verse:

“A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has  had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the  best until now!” (John 2:10, NLT).

At the wedding in Cana, the wine ran out while the feast was still underway.  When the problem was presented to Jesus, He turned six waterpots into the  sweetest wine ever tasted. The master of the feast marvelled that the best had  been saved until last.

This story carries a prophetic assurance for you today: Jesus, the Bridegroom of  your life, has saved the best until now. Whatever lack, setbacks, or frustrations  you’ve endured, God is preparing a turnaround. Just as the empty waterpots  were filled with new wine, He is ready to fill the empty spaces in your life with  His abundance.

Psalm 65:11–13 says, “You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths  drip with abundance… the valleys are covered with grain; they shout for joy,  they also sing.” Do not lose confidence. If things are not yet good, then it is not  the end. God has not placed a full stop where He intended only a comma. Your  latter end will be greater than your beginning. As Ecclesiastes 7:8–10 says, “The  end of a thing is better than its beginning… Do not say, ‘Why were the former  days better than these?’ For you do not inquire wisely concerning this.”

Hold on in faith—the best is yet to come, and your story will end on a high note.

“I thank You, Lord, because You have reserved the best for me. Let every area of  lack in my life be filled with Your abundance, and may my latter days overflow  with joy, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

  • [Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Don’t move until you see the ark

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Don’t move until you see the ark

    Read: Joshua 3: 1-17

    Meditation verse:

“And they commanded the people, saying, “When you see the ark of the  covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you  shall set out from your place and go after it (Joshua 3:3).

The children of Israel were about to cross the Jordan into the Promised Land  after forty years of wandering. The officers went through the camp instructing  the people to move only when they saw the priests carrying the ark of the  covenant. The ark represented God’s presence, strength, and power. They were  not to step forward without it, for the ark would show them the way to go.

Today, you do not have a physical ark or Levites carrying it, but you carry the  presence of God within you through the Holy Spirit. You are a bearer of His  presence. Too often, we rush ahead with our plans without “waiting to see the  ark,” and when things don’t work out, frustration and disappointment set in.

Waiting to see the ark means seeking God’s presence and direction before  making decisions. Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us: “Trust in the Lord with all your  heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge  Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

It also means immersing yourself in God’s Word. His Word is a lamp to your feet  and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). Often, the Spirit will highlight a  scripture that gives you clarity.

Additionally, God places “ark bearers” around you—men and women anointed  to provide godly counsel and intercession. As Proverbs 11:14 teaches, “in the  multitude of counselors there is safety.”

So, before you take your next step, pause. Seek His presence, His Word, and His  counsel. When you wait to see the ark, you will hear that gentle voice behind  you saying, “This is the way, walk in it” (Isaiah 30:21).

  • [Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: The joy of his presence

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: The joy of his presence

    Read: Psalm 139: 1-24

    Meditation verse:

“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; at your  right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11).

God’s awesome presence is always with us. The psalmist was conscious of this  fact as he said “where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your  presence? Here are ten benefits of constantly abiding in God’s presence. Living  aware of God’s presence transforms everything. In His presence you find joy,  mercy, rest, peace, protection, courage, and blessings for your household. The  more you dwell with Him, the more your life will overflow with what the world  cannot give.

In His presence you will experience fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11).

You can obtain mercy and find grace in your time of need (Hebrews 4:16).  ‘Mercy’ frees you from the shackles of your past, ‘grace’ is the enabler that  propels you to keep moving forward.

You will receive rest from all your labours and weariness (Mathew 11:28) You can cast all your cares and burdens on Him (1 Peter 5:7)

You will become bold. When they saw the boldness of Peter and John, they  realised they had been with Jesus (Acts 4:13).

You will cover you with His feathers such that you are preserved from the terror  by night and the arrow that flies by day (Psalm 91: 4-5).

You will receive peace that surpasses all human understanding (Phil 4:6-7)

You and your household will be blessed. When Obed-Edom housed the ark of  God which was a symbol of His presence, the Lord blessed him and all his  household (2 Samuel 6:11).

Your soul will delight itself in the abundance that money cannot buy (Is 55:1-2)

Make His presence your dwelling place — there you will find pleasures  forevermore.
