2023: I will not seek vendetta against Okowa – Omo-Agege assures

Deputy President of the Senate and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has said that his government will not seek vendetta against Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the governing Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, when elected to office in 2023.

Senator Omo-Agege stated this in Patani, the first stop of his campaign train to Delta South senatorial district, Thursday, December 8. The campaign also also touched down at Agoloma and Uduophori communities all in Patani local government area.

He said although it is evident that there is nothing on ground to justify the over N3.5 trillion receipts that had flowed into Delta State in the past seven and half years, he would not be distracted by looking back. Instead he said, he would push forward to the task ahead and ensure that all developmental gaps created by the Okowa led PDP were filled for the state to move forward.

Senator Omo-Agege lamented the poor infrastructural conditions in Patani which he said have remained the same, 24 years after Raymos Guanah made his mark as the council Chairman.

He said the huge allocations that had been received by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa since 2015 on behalf of the local government area in terms of FAAC, 13 per cent oil derivation, 50 per cent of 13 per cent of oil derivation had all been misappropriated.

In the face of allegations that Governor Okowa has interests in a newly licensed bank, he charged the governor to hand over the N235 billion recently paid to the state as 13 percent derivation arrears, and not salt it away in the bank, in the event that the allegations were true.

“My government will not seek vendetta against Governor Okowa and his PDP, we will not be distracted by looking back at their misgovernance but will hit the ground running to develop Delta State. He should however, hand over the balance of N235 billion with him.”

He said the riverine communities contribute so much to the economy of Nigeria and Delta State but there was nothing on ground to show, noting that the ‘prosperity for all’ mantra of Governor Okowa was a sham.

“Look at the Ijaw nation, there is not one tetiary institution. Not even when Okowa established three universities in one day without the input of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, who is also a victim of Okowa’s selfishness.

“In continuation of his selfishness and desire to perpetually impoverish citizens of Delta State, Governor Okowa has projected the Speaker, Oborevwori, as his decoy for a third term. We are here to urge the Ijaw people to reject Okowa’s third term bid and his surrogate, Sheriff Oborevwori.

He promised economic emancipation for women and youths of Ijaw nation, and to expand frontiers of growth and development when elected governor of Delta State.

Chairman of the APC in the local government area, Mr Julius Oruma, in his welcome address, described Senator Omo-Agege as a God-sent to deliver the people of Patani and the entire Ijawland from PDP imposed poverty and hardship, and for this reason, the people of Patani have resolved to cast their votes for APC “because the PDP government does not care about us.”

Chieftain of the APC in Patani, Dr Chris Ekiyor, warned his kinsmen that if they do not push the PDP away with their votes, “your children will serve their children, but I see a people with the radical capacity to do the needful.”

Earlier, Senator Omo-Agege had visited the Pere of Kabowei kingdom, HRH, Barr Shedrach Erebulu Aduo 111, who gave blessings for his governorship bid, and to carry on with his campaign in the kingdom.

The Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party who is also the incumbent Governor of Delta State, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa and his South-South counterparts have vowed that PDP is in-charge and will win the Presidential and all other elections in the zone.

Sen. Okowa said he believes that the PDP will recover, rescue and rebuild Cross River State, the South-South zone and the Nation from the sinking ship of the APC.

Speaking at the official opening ceremony of the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Office in Calabar, the Delta State Governor lauded the leadership of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in the State for the volume of work already done which he has seen on ground. He believes that with the hard work of the Council and the love Cross River people have shown for the PDP, victory for the party is sure in the state and the South-South Region.

In a separate reaction, the Chairman of Atiku/Okowa National Presidential Campaign Council and the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, H.E. Udom Emmanuel, who inaugurated the PDP National Youth Campaign Council and the Women wing of the Presidential Campaign Council, recounted that the PDP has never lost any election in Cross River State since the advent of this Democratic dispensation in 1999 till date. This, according to him, has been a culture in the State and in the South-South region. Mr Udom Emmanuel reiterated his belief that 2023 will not be different and that the South-South Governors are united with the PDP family to win again.

Responding, Sen. Liyel Imoke, former governor of Cross River State and the Deputy Director (Operations) of the Atiku/Okowa National Presidential Campaign Council welcomed and appreciated the Vice Presidential Candidate, the South-South Governors present and other distinguished guests for honouring and gracing the ceremony. He spoke with certainty that the PDP family in the state is set to win all the election with the calibre of people inaugurated into the Youth and Women wings of the Presidential Campaign Council.

In his welcome speech, the Senator representing Cross River Southern Senatorial District and Chairman of Cross River State Presidential Campaign Council, Distinguished Senator Gershom H. 2023: Atiku/Okowa call for prosecution of miscreants who attacked PDP’s convoy in Gombe, Kaduna, Borno

The Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization has urged the National Security Adviser (NSA), General Mohammed Monguno, to prove to Nigerians that it is actually fighting the battle against political thuggery by ensuring that the miscreants that attacked PDP in Gombe, Borno and Kaduna are prosecuted.

TheNewsGuru.com, (TNG) reports this was contained in a statement issued and signed by Kola Ologbondiyan
Spokesperson Atiku/Okowa Campaign Organization on Friday.

He noted in the statement that:”Our Campaign commends the NSA for his stance against state governors as well as politically intolerant politicians who engage in mobilizing thugs to attack the campaigns of rival political parties as witnessed in the attack of the PDP Presidential campaign rallies in Kaduna, Borno and Gombe States.

“The Atiku/Okowa Campaign holds that bringing those who attacked our rallies in Kaduna, Borno and Gombe to book will reassure Nigerians and serve as very strong deterrent to perpetrators of electoral violence and their backers.

“Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign had been at the receiving end of violators in spite of the decent campaigns of Atiku.

“It is therefore imperative to state that unless those responsible for the violence against our campaigns and supporters are made to face justice, even the warning by the NSA will not be taken seriously by the perpetrators.

“Our Campaign however urges Nigerians to remain focused and undeterred in their resolve to vote in Atiku Abubakar as the next President of our country so that he can commence the onerous task of rebuilding our nation from the misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC)

2023: How Okowa wasted Delta North years of governance – APC laments

The APC Delta State has lamented the lack of infrastructure and development in Anioma nation of Delta State.

The State party Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, made this declaration at Nsukwa, Aniocha South LGA of Delta State, during the ongoing APC ward to ward campaigns for the 2023 general elections.

“It is a thing of shame that in 2015, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa came in the name of Anioma and having been given that opportunity, he wickedly punished the Anioma people by taking every development project to his hometown, Owa-Alero, at the expense of others.

*But don’t worry, his days are numbered, we have a good product which is very easy to market and they have a product that is still looking for his classmates.”

    Speaking in the same vein,
Nobert Sochokwudima, the Aniocha South APC Chairman, lamented that for the past 24 years, Nsukwa clan has had no potable water, no roads, no electricity and expressed hope that with Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as governor, the challenges would be overcome.

In his remarks, Senator Omo-Agege, the governorship candidate of the APC in Delta State, said there was no reason why the Anioma people shouldn’t enjoy what Okowa’s kinsmen in Owa-Alero enjoy.

“That selfishness, that wickedness, that punishment and despair he imposed on our people in Anioma must end. With all the revenue receipts and loans he took, amounting to over N3.5 trillion, Okowa criminally neglected infrastructure development of this area. The way to stop this evil is to get rid of Okowa and his stooge, Sheriff Oborevwori, as well as all the PDP candidates at the polls for failing to look Okowa in the eye to attract development projects to their areas.

“It is time to tell them pack and go, to tell Okowa that his ill-fated vice presidential ambition has crashed and that his stooge Oborevwori cannot be governor.”

He assured that when elected, he would ensure that the challenges enumerated by the people of Nsukwa are addressed.

Senator Omo-Agege announced the completion of the Ubu River Dam, which was built by the APC Federal Government, and promised that when elected, the state will generate 10 mega watts of electricity through the dam to power Aniocha North and Aniocha South, 24 hours, seven days a week.

“If you vote for us we will bring real prosperity to you, not the one of the “Judas Iscariot” of the South-South.” he said.

Buoyed by Omo-Agege’s impressive record, the traditional ruler of Nsukwa clan, Obi Ezegbunem, said he is convinced that he will win the governorship of Delta State because, “what God cannot do, does not exist”

The Obi conferred the chieftaincy titles of Ezinabeni and Ikemba of Nsukwa clan on Ovie Omo-Agege and his running mate, Hon Friday Osanebi, respectively.

At Ogwashi-Uku, the deputy coordinator of the APC campaigns in Aniocha South, Pastor Polycarp Kachikwu, said the people of Ogwashi-Uku are going to vote out the PDP because they are distressed, demeaned, neglected and punished by Okowa for nothing, and “so we don’t want to hear Ego-aria again.”

Pastor Kachikwu on behalf of Ogwashi-Uku people presented a traditional mantle of power to “help Senator Omo-Agege to cross over every barrier and win the election.”

Speaking at Ubulu-Uku, Senator Omo-Agege said that in spite of the fact that the community had important names in the Okowa government, the community looked abandoned, neglected and in despair. We must come together to liberate Ubulu-Uku, Anioma and Delta State from the stranglehold of Okowa and his cronies.

“When elected, we will bring water, power and the basic amenities to this land. We will tackle the challenge of unemployment, we will tackle insecurity, we will tackle social challenges and bring back hope to the people,” he said.

2023: Anioma indigenes reject PDP, say Okowa only gave attention to Owa Alero

…as Omo-Agege assures of equitable distribution across Delta

People of Anioma nation in Onicha-Ugbo, Issele-Uku and Onicha-Olona in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State have declared not to vote for Peoples Democratic Party, PDP over alleged neglect by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

They claimed that Okowa’s administration had no positive impact on the lives of their people except in Owa Alero, Okowa’s hometown.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Director of Communications and Media Strategy, Delta APC Campaign Council, Olorogun Ima Niboro stating that the people made a bold statement, Tuesday, November 29, when the ward to ward campaigns of the APC for the 2023 elections flagged off at Onicha-Ugbo, Aniocha North LGA of Delta State.

The APC Governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, told the people that by newer estimates, over N3.5trillion had come to Delta State in the past seven and a half years of Okowa’s administration. This, he said, included the recent N250 billion 13 percent derivation backlog released by President Muhammadu Buhari, as well as internally generated revenue. Yet, he said , the governor had gone ahead to borrow over N400 billion.

“All of us right now, even our innocent children and those yet to be born are all debtors, we are liable to the debts incurred by Governor Okowa.

“As if the burden of debts we are going to pay is not enough, Governor Okowa has decided to impose a stooge who he would be able to manipulate, to continue the theft and squander of the state resources.

“We are resolute and have agreed across the three senatorial districts that we will not allow Okowa a third term through his stooge, Sheriff Oborevwori,” Omo-Agege said.

The APC Candidate also used the opportunity to clarify earlier remarks where he was quoted as saying he would continue projects of the Okowa administration. “ Because they have nothing to show, Okowa and his people have been going round saying that’s an admission that they have some projects. But what I said was, ‘if any,’ and I dare say there are none worth talking about “

He unveiled specifics of the EDGE to BAND Agenda promising to let the people of Anioma nation enjoy life again with him as governor of Delta State.

Earlier, former Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly and current Executive Director, Cabotage Services, NIMASA, Sir Victor Ochei, speaking on behalf of the people, rejected Okowa, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori, and the PDP. He described Senator Omo-Agege as reliable, trustworthy and committed to the development of the people.

He said Omo-Agege as Governor would grant the demands of the people and therefore urged them to vote him as next governor of Delta State.

He also called for support for Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, Tony Nwaka and Bazim Sally Biose, as Delta North senator, House of Representatives member and Aniocha North House of Assembly member respectively.

Speaking on behalf of HRM, Agbogidi Obi Victor Chukwumaleze 1 JP, the Obi of Onicha Ugbo, Chief Stephen Ugezene, the Onishe of Onicha-Ugbo assured Omo-Agege of his people’s support for his election as governor.

“We have spoken, God be with you, no harm shall befall you. Go and succeed,” he said.

At Issele-Uku, Senator Omo-Agege also led the campaign train to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Agbogidi Obi Nduka, where the Issele-Uku Development Union Chairman, Prince Offor Dilie, by the permission of the monarch, presented the challenges of the community to include potable water, flood and erosion control, good road network and reactivation of the facilities of the business park/skills acquisition center located in Issele-Uku which was abandoned by the Okowa administration.

In his brief remarks, Obi Nduka told Omo-Agege that he has followed his EDGE agenda with keen interest, and prayed for his success at the polls in 2023.

At Onicha-Olona, Senator Omo-Agege said that while Okowa promised prosperity for all Deltans in 2015, he has brought prosperity to only his native Owa- Alero community.

As in other locations, Senator Omo-Agege asked supporters to vote for all APC candidates across the board, declaring that this is the only way to ensure seamless cooperation between various levels and arms of government in 2023 and beyond.

Earlier, the campaign train landed at the palace of the Obi of Onicha-Olona , HRM, Christopher Uzu Diji, who showered praise on Senator Omo-Agege for building a befitting palace for him, which Omo-Agege said he would commission on his next visit when he becomes governor of Delta State.

“May God bless you, you have already won the election,” the monarch said.

Delta: Okowa’s 3rd term agenda will be resisted – Omo-Agege, Ochei declare

The Deputy President of the Senate (DSP), and Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Delta State, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, and the former Speaker of Delta State House Assembly Victor Ochie have declared that Deltans will resist attempt by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to do a 3rd term through his stooge.

The two APC chieftain who stated this during the Party’s Ward -to- Ward governorship campaign at Onicha-Ugbo, Issele-Uku and Onicha-Olona, some major towns of Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, Omo-Agege said he was not only excited at the rousing welcome by supporters who breached protocol and thronged to celebrate his presence, but also at the unity in the current Delta APC’s leadership.

He said contrary to some persons insinuation that there was no APC in Delta North, that the Party is fully on ground and strongly united as one big family. Noting that the ability to come together after any disagreement is what makes one a leader.

Omo-Agege, who said the “Prosperity for all Deltans” Governor Okowa promised in 2015 is now only for his (Okowa) family, disclosed that the State government has received over N2. 8trn and another N340bn from PMB and went ahead to borrow over N400bn with no meaningful projects to justify the humongous amount the state have received

“Today all Deltans including children unborn are owing the reckless borrowing by Okowa. So because of that, we Deltans are resolute and have agreed that we are not going to allowed Okowa to have a 3rd term through Sheriff Oborevwori”, he added.

He said all challenges ranging from unemployment, youths unrest, women empowerment and elevation, insecurities as well as roads construction and rehabilitation of both State and Federal roads and seek refund from Federal Government were addressed in the 2023 Campaign EDGE Agenda of the APC.

“We will intervene in failed Federal Roads and seek refund because Deltans are the ones using the roads. We will contract quality road contractors to construct our roads with negotiation for them to employ our youths thereby creating employment.

“We will harnessed the potentials and ingenuity of yahoo boys by engaging them in their best positive ways by asking them to develop apps and the State Government will be shareholder. By so doing, we are creating employment for our children.

“We will strengthen our women with meaningful empowerments and not fifty thousand naira starter packs empowerment they are giving our beloved women.” The Delta APC 2023 Governorship candidate stated.

Omo-Agege, who gave the assurance that his government will reduce insecurity to the barest minimum by addressing it’s causes, appealed to the people of Aniocha North to come out to vote for the APC 5/5 in the 2023 General Elections and they won’t regret it, that his Part deliberately chose to flagged-off campaign there.

“With Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President, a ranking Senator Peter Nwaoboshi as a principal officer in the Senate, Hon. Dr. Tony Nwaka in the House of Representatives and Bazim Sally Biose in the House of Assembly, it will be very easier for me to deliver to Deltans in all areas because me alone cannot do it all easily. Please vote for APC in all elections and you won’t regret it”. Omo-Agege stated.

Speaking also,Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei told Aniocha people that against misconception in some quarters that he is not fully with Delta APC, adding that what binds him and Omo-Agege are greater than what divides them.

According to him, “I am fully with Omo-Agege and Delta APC, i choose to support him because of my people of Anioach, it’s in our best interest that Omo-Agege emerged as the next governor.

“We want someone who has a mind of his own, not a boy to a master, when you agree something with a boy, you are not sure that he will keep the agreement because he has someone he reports to, hence we will deliver all APC candidates 5/5.

Ochie added the much mouthed Anioma agenda by Okowa sadly in the past 7 years now is more or else Owa-Alero agenda, because other parts of Delta north has nothing to celebrate.

Other speakers at the rally includes, Elder Godsday Orubebe, Engr. Omeni Sobotie among others said Omo-Agege will bring a New Delta and that Deltans need a Governor with a human heart.

  • 2023: Delta PDP exposes APC unpopularity ahead its campaign tour across the state

2023: Delta PDP exposes APC unpopularity ahead its campaign tour across the state

…uncovers how it lumps four wards to give false large crowd turnout

Delta State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has lampooned the State Chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, over the schedule and modus operandi of its Campaign itinerary, especially in Delta North Senatorial District, describing it as a clear admission of its unpopularity not only in the Senatorial zone, but across the entire Delta State.

This conclusion was contained in a terse statement by the Delta PDP State Publicity Secretary Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza who further declared that the APC campaign schedule for Delta North, is a harsh reality check on the dwindling fortunes of the opposition party, ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The statement reads: “Our attention has recently been drawn to an invitation by Delta APC to join their Governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo Agege, “as he leads the Delta APC Campaign train to Delta North Senatorial District to rekindle the hope of our people with the EDGE Agenda to Build a New Delta”.

“Of course, there is nothing wrong with the invitation, signed by the duo of Barr. Bosin Ebikeme and Chuks Erhire, the Party’s Director and Deputy Director, Directorate Of Contact and Mobilisation respectively. But, what we, however, find quite intriguing is the fact that the APC has desperately lumped minimum of Four Wards together to converge at a central location in each of the major towns in the Federal Constituencies of Delta North Senatorial zone, with the intent to shore up their numbers at the various Campaign stumps on their schedule.

“This is indeed a very loud admission and an incontrovertible indication that the APC has already realized and accepted its obvious unpopularity in Delta North and indeed Delta State as a whole and to make matters worse, the APC even asks its flagging members in the public invitation to “turn out en-masse and help Mobilise our supporters and teeming Party members to make our outings grand.”

“In its frantic and despairing attempt to hoodwink Deltans into believing that this kindergarten ploy of gathering Four Wards at a central location is strategically inspired for whatever slim gains it hopes to achieve, the APC has unfortunately and inadvertently exposed the fact that it not only lacks the presence of solid structures and personnel on ground, it also lacks any modicum of popularity and will be unable to muster a meaningful crowd if it decides to do ward-to-ward campaigns.

“Compare this then, to the pomp, pageantry, and carnival-like celebrations across Delta State as massive and tumultuous crowds of Deltans welcomed the PDP campaign teams during our recent robust and comprehensive ward-to-ward campaigns which was a runaway success from every indication.

“Deltans indeed not only demonstrated an outpouring of love and trust for the PDP, but loudly and in one voice, chorused a unanimous endorsement for all our candidates, charging them to “bow and carry go”, as landslide victory in the 2023 general elections was already a “fait accompli”; a done deal.

“We will not grudge or diminish the tedious but potentially wasted effort which the APC will deploy to at least seek to enjoy some few moments of cameo recognition in the limelight, as they embark on their futile quest to assemble minimum of Four Wards together at every campaign ground in Delta North to give the impression that they are popular.

“Our own Ward-to-Ward Campaigns has already proved that PDP is on ground and we are the number one party in Delta State, it has once again consolidated the fact beyond reasonable doubt that Delta is PDP and PDP is Delta.”
