  • #OLIC 3 was not just okay!

When you think of Olamide ,what comes to mind is a youngster who epitomizes talent, diligence and hard work. His rise to the top isn’t just inspiring, but worth emulating. The way Olamide continually appeals to the street, his primary constituency speaks of a King who has won the heart of his people.

Olamide Live In Concert 3 a.k.a OLIC #3 was held last night at the Convention Centre of the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, and it was a total departure from the soaring successes recorded from the previous two editions.

It was announced on Christmas day via OLIC’s social media handle that the tickets for regular has been sold out. One would expect that since it had been sold out, on the day of the event tickets won’t be sold. This wasn’t the case as tickets were still being sold at the venue. The capacity of the hall wasn’t big enough for the crowd who were enthusiastically waiting to have a taste of the self-proclaimed baddo .

For an event of this magnitude, Eko Hotel Convention Centre is a bad venue choice. The hotel does not have the capacity to house an army of more than one thousand youths ready to have fun to the max. Some individuals bought tickets and they were told they couldn’t go in because they were out of tags.

In addition, some of the concert attendees had to leave the hall because it was rowdy and stuffy. In anger, another set of attendees had to forego their ticket money and went back home because they couldn’t get tags after paying for the tickets.

The treatment meted out to the media is also one of the blind-spots of the show. A large number of cameramen, VJs and producers couldn’t get into the hall after hosting OLIC’s red carpet moments. They had the media tags, but the bouncers didn’t allow them in.

Wizkid performed, Davido performed, Adekunle Gold thrilled his fans, Olamide and Phyno performed. But these performances didn’t alleviate the discomfort of the attendees.

Outside of the hall was a show on its own. There were massive cases of stolen phones and personal valuables at the event. The insecurity experienced yesterday shouldn’t have come to play, if the organizers had planned properly. When your event becomes a menace, then it speaks of the premium you place on your fans.

Olamide has obviously outgrown this level. His ‘Glory’ needs to be spread to bigger venues and the planning needs to reflect this status.

  • Olamide releases his 6th album, ‘The Glory’

Award-winning Nigerian music artist and YBNL boss, Olamide has released his 6th studio album “THE GLORY”. The album droped on the 26th of December same day as his OLIC3 concert.

The self-styled “Badoo” broke the news to his over 1.5 million followers on Instagram.

Fans are already hyped about the news from the comments on Olamide’s Instagram page.

Olamide The 15 songs and 1 bonus single album features the likes of ‘Wande Coal, Phyno, Burna Boy, So Sick, Akuchi and YBNL’s new rapper Davolee’.

Olamide came into limelight with his monster hit “Eni-Duro” in 2011 and has gone on to release other chart-topping tracks.

  • Donjazzy, Olamide, others boycott The Headies 2016

Mavin boss, Don jazzy and his YBNL counterpart, Olamide, who were the most talked about artistes at last year’s edition of The Headies award, as a result of the drama that ensued between both parties leads the long list of Nigerian artistes who boycotted the 2016 edition.

The show which held on December 23, 2016, at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotels & Suites, had a very low turnout of celebrities as many of the awardees were not there to claim their wins.

Like a planned movie script neither DonJazzy nor Olamide was present at this year’s edition of the award.

Even the signed artistes on both record labels like, Adekunle Gold, Lil Kesh, Tiwa Savage, Dr Sid, Korede Bello and others were not present at the award.

This probably, could be a ploy to avoid a repeat of what happened last year.
