    Delta’s Gov. Okowa mourns Olubadan of Ibadan

    Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta on Monday commiserated with Gov. Seyi Makinde, the government and people of Oyo State over the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji.

    Oba Adetunji died on Sunday at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, at 93.

    Okowa noted in a statement issued by his media aide, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, that the late Olubadan was a courageous leader and one committed to the development of his kingdom and beyond.

    “On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I commiserate with the government and people of Oyo State and the immediate family of the Olubadan,

    “I also commiserate with the Olubadan-in-Council, as well as the Oyo State Traditional Council over the passing of Oba Saliu Adetunji, the 41st Olubadan of Ibadan.

    “The late monarch’s five years reign recorded remarkable peace and infrastructural development in his domain.

    “He will be remembered for his contributions to the peace, unity and development of his kingdom and the entire Oyo state,’’ Okowa said.

    He urged the family of the deceased royal father, friends, associates and the people of Ibadan to take solace in the knowledge that the oba lived an exemplary life deserving honour and celebration.

    Okowa prayed that the almighty God would grant the soul of the departed traditional ruler eternal rest.

    Anyim mourns Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Adetunji

    Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim has commiserated with the Governor of Oyo State, Mr Seyi Makinde over the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the presidential hopeful also commiserated with the family of the deceased in a statement he released on Sunday.

    Anyim described the late Oba Adetunji as a patriotic Nigerian who was deeply committed to the peace, unity and development of the country.

    He stressed that the nearly six years of late Adetunji on the throne brought peace and great development to his kingdom and the entire Oyo state

    The statement reads: “I have received with sadness, news of the death of our highly respected traditional ruler, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Adetunji, the Olubadan of Ibadan.

    “Let me convey to your Excellency, the family of His Royal Majesty and the good people of Ibadan, my deepest condolences on this sad event.

    “Late Oba Adetunji was a patriotic Nigerian who was deeply committed to the peace, unity and development of our country.

    “His nearly six years on the throne brought peace and great development to his kingdom and the entire Oyo state.

    “His demise will be greatly felt as Oyo State and the country at large would miss his invaluable advice and wise counsel as the nation searches for solutions to her many challenges.

    “I pray that the Lord will comfort his family and grant his soul eternal rest in His bosom.

    Your Excellency, once again, please accept my condolences”.

    The remains of Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji has been laid to rest.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Oba Adetunji was laid to rest in his private palace at Popoyemoja in Ibadan, Oyo State.

    The monarch died early on Sunday morning at the University College Hospital Ibadan.

    He was buried according to Islamic rites.

    The body was lowered into the grave at about 4:30 pm amid wailings and eulogies from family members and other sympathisers.

    Thereafter, the body was initially covered with planks before it was covered with earth.

    BREAKING: Olubadan of Ibadan joins his ancestors

    The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji is dead, joining his ancestors at the age of 93.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Oba Adetunji died at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan on Sunday.

    Oba Adetunji was crowned the 41st Olubadan of Ibadan following his coronation on March 4, 2016.

    Prior to his coronation as the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Adetunji was the Balogun of Ibadan land.

    He ascended the throne, following the demise of his predecessor, Samuel Odulana Odungade.

    His death is coming a few weeks after the death of Soun of Ogbomoso.

    According to the laid down hierarchy of ascension to the Ibadan throne, a former lawmaker, Senator Lekan Balogun may be next in line to succeed the departed monarch.

    Olubadan of Ibadan to be buried today -Aide

    Meanwhile, details have emerged that the 41st Olubadan of Ibadanland, and Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1 will be buried today.

    Oba Adetunji, 93 passed away in the early hours of this morning at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan.

    He is survived by his wife, Olori Rashidat Ololade Adetunji, Children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be buried at 4.00 pm today at his Popoyemoja, Ibadan Palace according to Muslim rites. Other things follow later.
