2023: Omo-Agege reminds PFN leaders that Tinubu’s wife is RCCG pastor

…says Okowa, Oborevwori seeking VP, governorship positions to evade prosecution

Deputy President of the Senate and Delta State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has reminded leaders of PFN that Ahmed Tinubu’s wife, Senator Remi Tinubu is a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

The DSP also declared that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Vice Presidential Candidate, Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and Delta PDP gubernatorial candidate, house speaker, Sheriff Oborevwori, are only seeking public office to evade prosecution for criminal mismanagement of public funds accruing to Delta State.

Omo-Agege who spoke during a Townhall meeting with TEKAN/ECWA bloc of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Saturday, December 10, in Warri, said if the duo of Governor Okowa and Speaker Oborevwori are elected as vice president and governor, they would get immunity to evade prosecution for misappropriating over N3.5 trillion naira that the state received in the past seven years and half years.

Electing both men to those offices, he maintained, would also enable them escape justice for plunging the state into a further N400 billion debt, all with nothing to show.

Senator Omo-Agege said while he has nothing personal against them, it is clear to all that Okowa’s priorities as governor are childish and inane; his judgement on issues wrongheaded, and his choice of Sheriff an obvious non starter.

He insisted while there are constitutional institutions that address public corruption, the most urgent task when you believe that your political leaders are corrupt is to vote them out.

“When I say Okowa and Sheriff are corrupt, I say so because there is nothing to show for the over N3.5 trillion naira they have received in the past seven and half years and if the people of Delta State agree with me, they should make sure Okowa does not become vice president and Sheriff, governor of Delta State. “

He assured that he would not witchhaunt anyone when elected governor stating there is enough wealth accruing to the state to expand its economic base, and more than enough to run its affairs.

“I am a public servant, I want to render service to my people by becoming governor and you will not regret making me your governor. When you chest out for me and I emerge governor, you will not regret it,” he said.

Head of the CAN bloc, Revd Samson Ichi, speaking on behalf of TEKAN/ECWA leaders across Delta State, assured Senator Omo-Agege of their prayers. “We are not partisan, our role is to pray for you, any time you need us, call upon us and we will pray for you,” he said.

During an interactive session, Senator Omo-Agege cleared the air on issues concerning the award of Amukpe/Uromi Road saying by his effort, President Muhammadu Buhari has recently approved the re-construction of the road and the contractor will soon go back to site.

He described Warri as the pitiable swamp city of Nigeria and promised to invest heavily on urban renewal when elected governor. He also pledged to engage Julius Berger to handle the construction of Ughelli/Asaba and Warri/Agbor roads and ensure that local content law is enforced to provide job opportunities for the youths of the State.

Senator Omo-Agege had also over the weekend engaged the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria
(PFN) Delta state chapter, and the
Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria of Agbarho and Oghara.

He urged PFN to encourage their members to vote for all APC candidates, including Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and himself.

He noted that the Church can only benefit with Tinubu as President, because “his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is a pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and five of their children are Christians.”

He added that Tinubu’s wife is also a proud daughter of Delta state who deserves Deltans’ support in the contest to elect her husband president in 2023.

2023: I will not seek vendetta against Okowa – Omo-Agege assures

Deputy President of the Senate and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has said that his government will not seek vendetta against Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the governing Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, when elected to office in 2023.

Senator Omo-Agege stated this in Patani, the first stop of his campaign train to Delta South senatorial district, Thursday, December 8. The campaign also also touched down at Agoloma and Uduophori communities all in Patani local government area.

He said although it is evident that there is nothing on ground to justify the over N3.5 trillion receipts that had flowed into Delta State in the past seven and half years, he would not be distracted by looking back. Instead he said, he would push forward to the task ahead and ensure that all developmental gaps created by the Okowa led PDP were filled for the state to move forward.

Senator Omo-Agege lamented the poor infrastructural conditions in Patani which he said have remained the same, 24 years after Raymos Guanah made his mark as the council Chairman.

He said the huge allocations that had been received by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa since 2015 on behalf of the local government area in terms of FAAC, 13 per cent oil derivation, 50 per cent of 13 per cent of oil derivation had all been misappropriated.

In the face of allegations that Governor Okowa has interests in a newly licensed bank, he charged the governor to hand over the N235 billion recently paid to the state as 13 percent derivation arrears, and not salt it away in the bank, in the event that the allegations were true.

“My government will not seek vendetta against Governor Okowa and his PDP, we will not be distracted by looking back at their misgovernance but will hit the ground running to develop Delta State. He should however, hand over the balance of N235 billion with him.”

He said the riverine communities contribute so much to the economy of Nigeria and Delta State but there was nothing on ground to show, noting that the ‘prosperity for all’ mantra of Governor Okowa was a sham.

“Look at the Ijaw nation, there is not one tetiary institution. Not even when Okowa established three universities in one day without the input of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, who is also a victim of Okowa’s selfishness.

“In continuation of his selfishness and desire to perpetually impoverish citizens of Delta State, Governor Okowa has projected the Speaker, Oborevwori, as his decoy for a third term. We are here to urge the Ijaw people to reject Okowa’s third term bid and his surrogate, Sheriff Oborevwori.

He promised economic emancipation for women and youths of Ijaw nation, and to expand frontiers of growth and development when elected governor of Delta State.

Chairman of the APC in the local government area, Mr Julius Oruma, in his welcome address, described Senator Omo-Agege as a God-sent to deliver the people of Patani and the entire Ijawland from PDP imposed poverty and hardship, and for this reason, the people of Patani have resolved to cast their votes for APC “because the PDP government does not care about us.”

Chieftain of the APC in Patani, Dr Chris Ekiyor, warned his kinsmen that if they do not push the PDP away with their votes, “your children will serve their children, but I see a people with the radical capacity to do the needful.”

Earlier, Senator Omo-Agege had visited the Pere of Kabowei kingdom, HRH, Barr Shedrach Erebulu Aduo 111, who gave blessings for his governorship bid, and to carry on with his campaign in the kingdom.

2023: Omo-Agege is extremely irresponsible, can’t govern us -Ogboru alleges

Gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the forthcoming election in Delta State, Chief Great Ogboru, a former political acolyte of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has allegedly described him as too irresponsible to govern Delta State.

Omo-Agege is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 election in the state.

The crux of the matter is that Omo-Agege was reported to have claimed that Ogboru had agreed to step down for him ahead the 2023 governorship election in the state.

In his response, Ogboru was quoted in social media circles to have said that: “I better step down for Sheriff who has the political experience to manage Delta than stepping down for Omo Agege who is too irresponsible to be governor.”

Ogboru, the APGA flagbearer was quoted to had further said: “Omo-Agege cannot win even 20% of the total votes that will be cast in the Delta governorship election even if he has the support of the current political structure in the nation and state behind him.

“He is irresponsible and unfit to be a governor to have authorized that statement.

“The man who just goes to the public to say I have endorsed him. He is a liar. I will not endorse anyone.

“NEVER! Omo Agege is extremely irresponsible,” Ogboru added.

  • (Right of Reply) Omene’s big problem is Omene…Here’s why!

(Right of Reply) Omene’s big problem is Omene…Here’s why!

    By Eric Okunima

Ordinarily, I would not respond to Chief Joe Orode Omene’s recent embarrassingly infantile vituperations against Deputy Senate President, and Delta State All Progressives Congress, APC, gubernatorial candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege. I however need to address a few things. In addressing these things, there would be no need to dwell on Chief Omene’s now established character — the Urhobo people know him by his very uncertain colours. I understand his character but would try not to apply salt on a cancerous sore.

What exactly is Chief Omene’s grouse? Is his anger based on Omo-Agege’s factual criticisms of Delta state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa’s glaring wickedness, insensitivity and maladministration or he is angry that Omo-Agege didn’t settle the leadership tussle he (Omene) has with Olorogun Moses Taiga over the leadership of the Urhobo Progress Union?

Obviously, Chief Omene is confused and frustrated. That much is obvious, and we probably understand why. But a man who sees everybody’s opinion as wrong and only his selfish stance as right is not a man worthy of attention. How does Omene expect Omo-Agege to intervene where he (Omene) persistently refused to withdraw his court case or make sacrifices?

At what stage or since when did Omene’s anger against Omo-Agege ratchet up to this point? Was it after he unsolicitedly “endorsed “ Omo-Agege as the obvious best candidate for the position of Deputy Senate President, an endorsement that had zilch influence on the process? Or was it after the expected gain of that dubious endorsement failed to come?

OMENE is bitter about projects distribution. But the records are in the public space. There is no local government area or town in Urhobo land to which Omo-Agege has not attracted at least one project. From building/renovation of schools to provision of ICT centres, healthcare centres, roads, electricity transformers, etc, there is virtually no Ward that the Urhobo Senator has not impacted. In siting the Federal Polytechnic-Orogun, a number of factors were strategically considered: central to it all was land. Then the need to cater for the academic needs of some communities on the borders of our senatorial district is one of such factors. But for wanting to sound like the Delta PDP/Okowa’s new spokesman, Omene knows that no Senator in the whole of Delta State has done as much as Omo-Agege has.

    On the UPU leadership tussle,
Chief Omene cannot deny the fact that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege did make frantic efforts towards seeing an amicable resolution to the impasse. But what happens when he (Omene) prefers sit tight and pursue the matter through court?

From his body language, one would see that Omene prefers to perpetuate himself in office as a life president of the UPU; if not, what sacrifice is too much to make for the unity and progress of the Urhobo nation?

Chief Omene even exposed himself as the very person who made reconciliation impossible. He said he was ready to stepdown and have Olorogun Taiga stepdown too, so that a neutral body would conduct the election to elect a new exco ‘whilst he is still pursuing his case in court.’ How does that work? Can you claim to want peace by asking your opponent to drop his knife while you’re still holding a loaded gun to his head?

I respect Chief Omene but he should not drag us into his politics of self perpetuation. It is not for us to tell our people what is at play in Omene’s latest outburst; our people know, they understand, it is his season.

Omene’s interest is not the Urhobo interest and he knows. Take for example, the Taiga-led UPU has completed its tenure and handed over to a new executive. When will Omene’s hand over? Or has the UPU whether united or factionalized become his personal property or inheritance?

So, it is quite laughable and rather unfortunate that Chief Omene is turning round to paint Omo-Agege as his problem. Chief Omene should understand that Senator Omo-Agege is neither his albatross nor part of those who do not want a united Urhobo. That the UPU had a crisis wasn’t the challenge but the level of greed exhibited by Omene himself! Since the crisis began, several attempts were made for an amicable settlement , but Omene frustrated these moves. Suffice to state here that most of these genuine moves had inputs from and backing of the DSP. It was the recurring frustrations that made our traditional rulers to take a stand to move on.

Sen. Omo-Agege is not involved in UPU elections. To expect him to get unnecessarily involved in the same issues in which Omene has refused to shift grounds but resorted to the courts is a disservice to the labours of our Urhobo heroes past and prejudicial to popular conscience.

It sounds funny to many that the same Chief Omene that sang Omo-Agege’s praises to high heavens is now accusing the latter of betraying Ibori and whoever — When, where and how did Omo-Agege betray Ibori?

Omo-Agege served under Chief Ibori and their relationship has been very cordial, even till date. Perhaps, if leaving one political party for another is what Omene calls ‘betrayal’, then only history can educate Omene.

The Obarisi of Urhoboland is a product of grace and politics/political affiliation is a game of choice. That one is raised by a banker father doesn’t imply that all the children or family members must study to be bankers too; so it is with politics. Omo-Agege, following from his personal conviction that he could make a much more better representation in government, moved to another party to actualize his dreams and God gave him victory. Is that what Omene calls betrayal?

I would not want to buy into Omene’s new found appetite for blackmail but we may not always ignore him. Deltans have long thrashed the Ogboru betrayal story. Like many also asked: Did Omo-Agege betray Ogboru by fighting hard and making needless enemies all to ensure that the latter won the governorship ticket of the APC in the 2019 election or how exactly did Omo-Agege betray Ogboru?

We understand that the season is here when men seek to hustle using blackmail as tools. Chief Omene, in his hustle, must refrain from insulting the electorates. By calling those who may not buy into his blackmail as ‘foolish people’ is demeaning of one who calls himself a leader.

As stated earlier, we understand Omene’s frustrations — this is his season of profit , but let him know that he has lost relevance as far as the Urhobo nation is concerned.

  • 2023: Omo-Agege has betrayal flowing in his DNA-Chief Joe Omene alleges

2023: Omo-Agege has betrayal flowing in his DNA-Chief Joe Omene alleges

…says he’s worst Delta politician ever

Frontline Deltan, former president of the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, and prominent son of Urhobo Kingdom, Chief Joe Omene has taken the guber candidate of the APC in Delta State, Ovie Omo-Agege to the cleaners describing him as a man that has betrayal flowing in his DNA.

Chief Omene made this sweeping allegation in a video clip that has gone viral in the social media networks, going back memory lane to recount the activities of the Deputy Senate President while serving in government.

Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza the State Publicity Secretary, PDP, Delta State and Deputy Director, Media, and Publicity Committee, PDP Campaign Council further chronicled the High Chief’s position in a statement issued and signed by him on Tuesday.

Chief Omene asserted in the viral clip that:”We have always known that Delta APC Gubernatorial candidate and Deputy Senate President, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege, is not the sanctimonious, squeaky clean, Knight in shiny Armour saviour, his obsequious loyalists and some of those selected smiling photographs on social media and Google images portray.

“But we had refrained from deconstructing him at a personal level since we are not a political party that succumbs to low, dirty personality propaganda and hoped that one day, someone very close to him would do us the favour of presenting him the way he really is.

“Today, the chickens have finally come home to roost as Chief Joe Omene, a great leader, elder statesman, and former President General of the Urhobo Progressives Union, UPU, has literally exposed and derobed Omo-Agege, leaving him bare to tan in the harsh electoral harmattan season of Delta’s political landscape.

“The Omo-Agege you’re seeing, just think of any politician from Urhobo, he’s the worst. He’s a very greedy man, self-centred, and everyday, when I see him criticize Governor Okowa in the papers I just laugh. Assuming he becomes Governor, he will be far worse.

“He is also a betrayer. Just look at the people he started working with, he has betrayed all of them,” the distinguished Urhobo leader declared.

This was just the first salvo in a steady six minutes profiling of Omo-Agege, which is better heard than reported, except to hint that Chief Omene went on to give a graphic and detailed commentary of how the Delta APC Guber candidate betrayed former Governor, Chief James Ibori, who brought him into Government from the United States and gave him top positions like SSG and Commissioner Special Duties, only to be betrayed because Omo-Agege did not get the Governorship ticket.

Chief Omene revealed how Omo-Agege betrayed Chief Great Ogboru, who was instrumental in ensuring the two Senate tenures he’s now enjoying and even the UPU, which stood as guarantor for his Senatorial ambition as Deputy Senate President, only for him to deviously embark on a divide and rule regime as the highest political office holder in Delta Central and Urhoboland, in order to exploit the division in Delta Central political structure, for his own selfish ambition.

He even called those who endorsed him for the position of Deputy Senate President “insurgents”, after he had secured the position. Hear Chief Omene again: “We endorsed him without any preconditions and even wrote to President Buhari as the umbrella body of Urhobo ethnic nation, but he later called us insurgents after he had got the position.

“He called us insurgents, but when we were endorsing him we were not insurgents o. After endorsing him and getting what he wants we became insurgents. How can a lawyer say something like that about people who were in Court? It’s not proper for a lawyer.”

Shedding light on Omo-Agege’s clannish development agenda, Chief Omene had this to say: “You’re the Senate President (sic). As the (Deputy) Senate President he brought Law School, where did he site it? Orogun! He brought Polytechnic, where did he site it? Orogun! He brought so many other things, where did he site them? Orogun! He didn’t site anyone in any other part of Urhoboland. No ooo.

“That will tell you the kind of person he will be, assuming some people vote for him foolishly to become Governor. He does not have the overall interest of Urhobo,” the great Urhobo elder statesman said unflinchingly.

Delta PDP has never had any doubts about the Chameleonic nature of Ovie Omo-Agege. He was once a member of our great party and the circumstances under which he left the party were less than noble, disturbingly dishonourable, acrimoniously petty, and uncharitably rancourous, as he fermented all manner of disharmony within party ranks in his selfish quest to overturn an already accepted zoning arrangement, because of his “emi lo kan” mentality, just like his Presidential candidate in APC.

Chief Joe Omene has done Deltans a great service by exposing the real Ovie Omo-Agege to the world and we are quite gratified by this honest revelation. We have also been vindicated in our unwavering position that even in his own community and so-called stronghold, Ovie Omo-Agege already has major trust, personality, and integrity issues and the initial effervescence of his emergence which is fast fading, will continue to dissipate and evaporate rapidly, as the 2023 election draws ever closer.

2023: Omo-Agege campaigns for Tinubu, APC candidates across Delta

… insists his presidency will benefit Deltans

Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has continued to canvass for votes for the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Party, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and all candidates of the party contesting the 2023 general elections in Delta State.

At different campaign rally venues visited by the Delta APC Campaign train on Monday Senator Omo-Agege underscored the benefits of voting Tinubu as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The campaign train had stops at Abbi, Kwale and Utagba-Uno, all in Ndokwa West local government area.

In making a case for Tinubu, Senator Omo-Agege said the APC presidential candidate is a son-in-law of Delta State, since his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is a proud daughter of Itsekiri.

He said Delta state stood to benefit tremendously from a Tinubu presidency, both in terms of infrastructure and human capital development.

He urged the people of Ndokwa West to deny Governor Ifeanyi Okowa a third term by proxy, because a vote for PDP’s Sheriff Oborevwori is a vote for what he described as “Okowa’s misgovernance”.

Senator Omo-Agege lamented that the PDP was leaving no legacy project in the whole of Ndokwa nation, even as an oil producing area.

“But don’t worry, in the next two months we will tell Okowa and his PDP bye bye with our votes. We need a new leadership that will address the issues of Ndokwa nation.

“For the past seven and half years there is no sign of prosperity in Ndokwaland and yet the outgoing governor, Okowa, was elected to power on the platform and guise of protecting the interest of the Ndokwa nation.

“All the wickedness of Okowa and PDP will be recompensed during the election and I urge you to reject PDP and it’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. You must also reject Oborevwori as governor.
Vote Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President, myself Ovie Omo-Agege as governor.”

He made a strong case for Senator Peter Nwaoboshi to be reelected to the senate, saying when elected, Nwaoboshi would be a ranking senator who would be qualified to become the President of the Senate in 2023.

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege warned against any plan or attempt to disrupt the elections on election days saying, “If you disrupt the elections the security agencies will catch you and lock in a cell for a very long time, so please don’t disrupt the elections.”

Cheering crowds welcomed Senator Omo-Agege and the campaign train to the rally grounds, where over 100 former members of PDP led by Tiny Okpu decamped to the APC and were received by the party State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie.

Elder Sobotie said the decampees were in biblical parlance “once blind but now can see.”
He said for every struggle there is a leader, “and today, we have a Joshua who will take us to the Promised Land in the person of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.”

  • 2023: Don’t swallow Omo-Agege’s Greek gift on Yahoo boys proposal, it is dubious -Delta PDP warns

2023: Don’t swallow Omo-Agege’s Greek gift on Yahoo boys proposal, it is dubious -Delta PDP warns

The Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council has warned Deltans not to swallow proposition of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the Delta Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC to Internet fraudsters, describing it as a Greek gift laced with lies.

This was contained in a statement issued by Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, Deputy Director, Media, and Publicity Committee, Delta State PDP Campaign Council while responding to a proposition made by the APC Delta Gubernatorial Candidate, who had categorically stated, during a campaign rally at Owa-Ekei, in Ika North East Local Government Area of the State, that he would “work with ‘yahoo’ boys”, when elected Governor of the State.

He noted that: “We were quite surprised to hear the Delta State APC Gubernatorial candidate stated unequivocally that he would work with persons identified with the illegal practice of ‘Advanced Fee Fraud’ or “419, otherwise referred to as ‘Yahoo Boys’ if he is elected Governor of Delta State.

“To put the matter in proper perspective, Advance Fee Fraud’ or ‘419’, derives directly from Section 419 of the Criminal Code Act in Nigeria, which deals with obtaining goods by false pretences. It states in part that: “Any person who by any false pretence, and with intent to defraud, obtains from any other person anything capable of being stolen, or induces any other person to deliver to any person anything capable of being stolen, is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment for three years to seven years”

“We are aware that majority of advanced fee fraud is internet based and is now categorized as Cybercrime, which is an activity that either targets or uses a computer, a computer network, or a networked device. Most purveyors are computer hackers who basically want to make money from the act, but such survivalist intentions do not however negate the illegal nature of the practice.

“It is, therefore a great act of wonder to hear Omo-Agege, who curiously has no remarkable track record of empowering Delta Central youths, whom he represents in the Senate, in any capacity at all, or even equipping them with any kind of notable and beneficial skills (except maybe in the art of snatching national symbols or extortion of contractors) in his near 8 years in the Senate and in his hallowed position as Deputy Senate President, not to talk about setting up “tech hub” to “harness the creative ingenuity of our youths.” No be juju be that?, according to Warri man.

“We find it truly amazing that the Delta APC Gubernatorial candidate can shamelessly rise to such reckless heights of unbridled deceit and dubious manipulation for political reasons and cheap electoral gains, by pretending that he means well for Delta Youths. In fact, Omo-Agege exposed his ignorance and betrayed his devious motives by creating the impression that only those involved in advanced fee fraud have superior computer intelligence whereas there are hundreds of Delta Youths who are tech savvy and performing legal and legitimate wonders with the computer and internet, especially in the areas of graphics generation and designs, Apps development to make life easier for all our social transactions and software configurations to enhance the ease of computer operations, just to mention a few.

Of course, we are aware that the Delta APC is suffering from a crippling and debilitating paucity and scarcity of funds to prosecute their Campaigns and the coming elections, so could it possibly be that Omo-Agege’s tongue-in-cheek promise, is possibly aimed to attract the attention of a particular group of Delta Youths for a completely different purpose, which may not be far from surreptitiously soliciting for a financial lifeline to help their flagging and wimpy campaign?

“In fact, it now appears like a very convenient coincidence that Omo-Agege chose the campaign rally in Ika North East, to pledge his commitment to work with “Yahoo boys” through his so-called ‘tech hub’, as it has recently come to our attention, that a certain Promise Ogumu (aka James Simpson, Brain Walker), reportedly handpicked by Omo-Agege as an aspirant for the APC Ika North East State Assembly Primary was, on September 20th this year, arraigned by EFCC before the Justice FA Olubanjo Federal High Court sitting in Asaba for Fraud.

“Although Mr. Ogumu, alias ‘Brain Walker’ and ‘James’ Simpson lost the primary election, perhaps on the realization by his political sponsors, whom he even took a photo with, which was displayed all over social media to underline his important status with Ovie Omo-Agege and his Deputy, this episode just goes to confirm the magnitude of the fraudulent intention behind that vague and bogus promise to work with “Yahoo boys”.

“We want to put it on record that the dubious and deceitful agenda for youth development, entrepreneurship, and revenue generation of the APC, is quite far from the pragmatic and dynamic administration of His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, CON and Vice-Presidential candidate of the PDP, which has laid down the functional, tried and tested structures and modalities for youth development and entrepreneurship, through the YAGEP and STEP youths empowerment schemes, amongst others.

“It is on record that these programmes and schemes have so far trained and graduated over 2,000 Delta youths with adequate and appropriate starter packs provided for them to pursue a self-reliant and sustaining entrepreneurial engagement in the area of their specializations.

And to consolidate its determination and commitment towards youth empowerment and capacity building, the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration, in November, pledged to scale up the number of Artisans in its empowerment programme from 2,500 to 5,000 from the 2023 fiscal year.

Of course, there’s no gainsaying the fact that these Artisans, whose input to the growth and expansion of the national economy is very crucial, include those young brainiacs and whizkids doing great work in the silicon community particularly in the repairs of GSM mobile phones, computers and configuration of accessories to ensure that Nigerians are constantly mobile, secured and up to date digitally, in our everyday interactions and transactions.

“We also recall that our Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in line with the youth empowerment vision of our dear Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, recently pledged at the PDP Presidential rally in Ilorin, Kwara State, to set aside $10 billion for youth empowerment schemes to tackle youth unemployment in the country.

“This was also followed by another robust promise, during a roundtable discussion with stakeholders in Nigeria’s creative, cultural, and innovative industry in Lagos, to support the creative sector, which Alhaji Atiku Abubakar described as a livewire that has what it takes to crash the unemployment rate and generate huge revenue for the country if the necessary support is given with provision of necessary incentives.

“These, as far as we are concerned, are solid covenants and pledges of practical, aggressive action to energize and operationalize the efforts towards expanding and accelerating the creation of gainful employment, especially for our youths, including those in the computer and internet-compliant community.

“Senator Omo-Agege’s wishful imagination to set up a so-called “tech hub” obviously did not factor these young artisans and hands-on, practical technicians in his so-called “tech-hub”, only “Yahoo boys”.

From the foregoing, it becomes Crystal clear that this so-called APC “tech hub” to create youth empowerment and generate revenue is without form, structure, or substance and the vile trickery behind that glib, flippant and hurriedly conceived proposition has now been exposed as another dubious piece of campaign sophistry aimed at achieving gains which are contrary and antithetical to youth development and sadly targeted at a section of Delta youths, who will be abandoned once their assumed usefulness to the APC Campaign agenda, for whatever it is worth, has been exploited and exhausted.

“PDP, with its solid, well articulated and implemented empowerment programmes, is and still remains the best option for all Delta Youths and the prospect of our youths benefitting more, especially with the $10 billion youth and women development fund to be set aside and robust pledges and promises to the vibrant creative sector in which the youths are the majority in population, remains very bright, once Atiku/Okowa win the Presidency in 2023.”

Omo-Agege vows to discourage fraudsters by training them to become savvy tech nerds

Deputy Senate President, and the Delta State All Progressives Congress, APC, Governorship Candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has vowed to retrain fraudsters by making them tech savvy nerds.

The DSP condemned advance fee fraud, aka 419, among some youths in the state.

He said to arrest the trend, he said such youths would be discouraged from criminality, and retrained into tech savvy nerds.

Speaking at a campaign rally at Owa-Ekei, in Ika North East local government area of Delta State, Senator Omo-Agege debunked sponsored news reports that he had said he would “work with ‘yahoo’ boys, “when elected governor of the state.

He explained that no one is happy with the state of unemployment youths in Delta State are confronted with, therefore his government will give priority to youth unemployment and empowerment issues.

“What we said was that we will set up a tech hub in Delta State that will be funded by the State government to harness the creative ingenuity of our youths for entrepreneurship and revenue generation for the State, while creating employment opportunities for those youths,” he said.

Speaking further, Omo-Agege also dismissed the rumour that he would abandon projects, if any, in Ika North, that were being executed by Okowa, saying: “we will be fair, equitable and just to all. Whatever is due to the Owa nation they will get from my administration. So fear not.”

Hon Samuel Elene Kerri, Chairman of the APC in Ika North East, while welcoming the party’s campaign train to the community, assured Omo-Agege that he will be happy with results that will come from the 14 wards of the local government area at the 2023 elections.

“The crowd that came to welcome you is an indication that APC has come to stay in Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s local government area. We collectively voted for somebody we thought is our brother. They told us that the seat of the governor was like an elephant that could feed everybody satisfactorily. But with Okowa as governor, the worth of the office of governor has been reduced to the value of a cricket.

“Your Excellency, please remember us when you become the governor of Delta State because the man we thought will represent us betrayed us. He did not only betray the South-South and the whole of southern Nigeria, he also betrayed his own people.

“We have found him to be a trickster and betrayer and so we have rejected him. Please, do not use the bad character of our brother, Okowa, to judge us. We have rejected him.”

Hon. Kerri adjudged the performance of Omo-Agege as Senator to be satisfactory and impactful on people beyond Delta central senatorial district.

” For your satisfactory performance we are grateful and will support you. We cannot leave you to support Sheriff Oborevwori, a man whose true identity is yet to be resolved.”

Also speaking, Hon Victor Odiase, a former candidate for the Ika North East local council election revealed that “Okowa frustrated me from
becoming the local government council Chairman, but today he has brought his own daughter to become member of the House of Assembly.

“Our people are very hungry, the only job they do here is Okada riding. There are no industries. Ika North is a center of commerce, we have a railway station and we are close to the sea. What stopped our brother, Governor Okowa from opening up Ika? We believe that you will be the next governor, please do not forget to come to our aid.”

Pleading with people of Ika North to be patient until the government of Senator Omo-Agege is ushered in, Evang Moses Kamaya, DG to Senator Peter Nwaoboshi campaign organization said the name of Okowa is synonymous with betrayal, adding that in the whole of Ika North East, the only community that is managing to benefit something is Owa-Alero and hence, sued for patience until Omo-Agege becomes governor.

State party Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, in his remarks said under Okowa, so many government parastatal and institutions in Delta State have died, including the PDP both in Delta State and at the national level.

The campaign train also visited Ute-Okpu and Umunede where the people were urged to vote all candidates of the APC in the 2023 general elections.

At Ute-Okpu, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege commissioned two Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, projects: the 2km Ute-Ukpu Road in Ika North East and construction of Dunkwu Street and installation of solar lights in Idiegwu, Ute-Ukpu.

2023: Delta PDP exposes APC unpopularity ahead its campaign tour across the state

…uncovers how it lumps four wards to give false large crowd turnout

Delta State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has lampooned the State Chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, over the schedule and modus operandi of its Campaign itinerary, especially in Delta North Senatorial District, describing it as a clear admission of its unpopularity not only in the Senatorial zone, but across the entire Delta State.

This conclusion was contained in a terse statement by the Delta PDP State Publicity Secretary Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza who further declared that the APC campaign schedule for Delta North, is a harsh reality check on the dwindling fortunes of the opposition party, ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The statement reads: “Our attention has recently been drawn to an invitation by Delta APC to join their Governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo Agege, “as he leads the Delta APC Campaign train to Delta North Senatorial District to rekindle the hope of our people with the EDGE Agenda to Build a New Delta”.

“Of course, there is nothing wrong with the invitation, signed by the duo of Barr. Bosin Ebikeme and Chuks Erhire, the Party’s Director and Deputy Director, Directorate Of Contact and Mobilisation respectively. But, what we, however, find quite intriguing is the fact that the APC has desperately lumped minimum of Four Wards together to converge at a central location in each of the major towns in the Federal Constituencies of Delta North Senatorial zone, with the intent to shore up their numbers at the various Campaign stumps on their schedule.

“This is indeed a very loud admission and an incontrovertible indication that the APC has already realized and accepted its obvious unpopularity in Delta North and indeed Delta State as a whole and to make matters worse, the APC even asks its flagging members in the public invitation to “turn out en-masse and help Mobilise our supporters and teeming Party members to make our outings grand.”

“In its frantic and despairing attempt to hoodwink Deltans into believing that this kindergarten ploy of gathering Four Wards at a central location is strategically inspired for whatever slim gains it hopes to achieve, the APC has unfortunately and inadvertently exposed the fact that it not only lacks the presence of solid structures and personnel on ground, it also lacks any modicum of popularity and will be unable to muster a meaningful crowd if it decides to do ward-to-ward campaigns.

“Compare this then, to the pomp, pageantry, and carnival-like celebrations across Delta State as massive and tumultuous crowds of Deltans welcomed the PDP campaign teams during our recent robust and comprehensive ward-to-ward campaigns which was a runaway success from every indication.

“Deltans indeed not only demonstrated an outpouring of love and trust for the PDP, but loudly and in one voice, chorused a unanimous endorsement for all our candidates, charging them to “bow and carry go”, as landslide victory in the 2023 general elections was already a “fait accompli”; a done deal.

“We will not grudge or diminish the tedious but potentially wasted effort which the APC will deploy to at least seek to enjoy some few moments of cameo recognition in the limelight, as they embark on their futile quest to assemble minimum of Four Wards together at every campaign ground in Delta North to give the impression that they are popular.

“Our own Ward-to-Ward Campaigns has already proved that PDP is on ground and we are the number one party in Delta State, it has once again consolidated the fact beyond reasonable doubt that Delta is PDP and PDP is Delta.”
