Omo-Agege lauds BVAS functionality in Delta, points out only challenge

Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, the Delta All Progressives Congress (APC ) governorship candidate, has commended the functionality of the BVAS in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly election.

Omo-Agege said this shortly after he cast his vote at Ohromuru Orogun in Ughelli North Local Government Areas of the state.

“INEC so far has done a good job.

“It took me less than few seconds to be accredited and I don’t think anybody will have challenge on the functionality of the BVAS.

“But the challenge we have is insecurity. We do not have enough security manning the various polling units.

“There are conflicts everywhere, insecurity, attacks on All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates everywhere,” he said.

Omo-Agege commended the electorate for the large turnout.

“I am glad that today, we are electing the President, this will determine the kind of Nigeria we will have in the next eight years.

“We have opportunity to make that decision and it is my hope and expectation that they do the right thing.

“And as far as the governorship election is concerned, there is a concession that there is the need for change and the people are tired of Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa and everything he represents,” he said.

He stated that APC was sure of victory at all levels in the election.

“As far as the Presidential, Senatorial, Governorship, House of Representatives, houses of Assembly elections are concerned, we are very sure we are going to win.

“I think it is the expectation of everyone in the state come March 11, we will emerge victorious,” he said.

The deputy senate president was accredited at about 11. 00 a.m.and he voted at 11.08 a.m.

Delta: Local Govt pensioners tell Omo-Agege you’re on your own

Members of the Local Government Contributory Retirees of Delta State have disassociated themselves from the recent endorsement of the All Progressives Congress APC Governorship Candidate and the Deputy Senate President, Ovie-Omo-Agege by the Primary School Teachers Retirees under the aegis of the Association of Contributory Retirees (ACR).

Mr Daniel Onosanimoni and Engr. Godwin Ekenini, Chairman and Secretary respectively of Local Government Contributory Retirees, in a press statement said that; “We the Local Government arm of the Association of Contributory Retirees (ACR) wish to outrightly dissociate our members from the meeting between Mrs. Helen Ejieh, Chairman Contributory Retirees (Local Education Authorities/Primary Schools Retirees), her supporters/group (among the LEA/Pry. Sch. Retirees) and the Gubernatorial Candidate of the APC in Delta State, DSP Ovie Omo-Agege.

They stated that the Local Government Contributory Retirees is composed of all categories of Local Government employees who retired from the Local Government Service of Delta State and are yet to draw their Pensions, adding that as a body they were not consulted nor was a part of the meeting at Ozoro “and therefore the Teachers group of ACR cannot speak for us nor serve as our mouth piece. Whatever resolution reached is for the Primary School Teachers and should not be misconstrued as the decision of all Local Government Retirees”.

According to the retirees, we are a non-partisan body that is poised for the payment of the pensions and gratuities of our members using only known legal and constitutional channels to press home our demands and we have not resorted to party politics by endorsing any political party or any Governorship candidate for that matter.

“We completely disown the contents of the press release/publicity that followed the said meeting as we remain neutral and apolitical in our approach and agitations for the payment of our pension entitlement,” they wrote.

They added that “We do not begrudge any person or group of persons from associating or holding political opinions. But we object to the use of our umbrella Association and name in the promotion of the interests of a political party (the APC), among political parties on ground in Delta State. While we concede that no pensioner of Delta State ought to be owed pensions, having served for 35 years or attained the age of 60 years, we therefore use this medium to urge the State Government to expedite action with the Technical Committee put in place to clear the backlog of pension and gratuities owed the Local Government Retirees in the State”.

They commended the Delta State Government for a renewed commitment towards the payment of accrued rights of pensioners, especially, with the release of the 2 tranches of N2.5 billion each making a total of N5 billion lately for the payment of the accrued rights of Local Government and Primary School Teachers in the State.

“The information at our disposal from our engagement with the Bureau of Local Government Pension at various times indicate that there are not more than 8,000 retirees yet to be paid. Our figures are not near 10,000 not to talk of the 50,000 cited in the news. And that the number is decreasing on monthly basis due to the enhanced fund release by the Governor for the payment of accrued rights,” they added.

They also said that “We therefore condemn in its entirety the attempt by the Primary School Teachers Retirees arm to drag us into unwholesome politics and unnecessary heating up of the polity as we do not want to be caught in any guise, in the unfolding struggles and contests among political actors, since we are ordinary retirees supporting the government of the day to speedily pay our outstanding pensions”.

“Therefore, we once again deny and reject any attempt by Mrs. Helen Ejieh and her sympathizers to draw us into any political circus show”, they said.

There was no time I stepped down, Omo-Agege’s camp behind plots, propaganda – Delta guber NNPP candidate, Agbi

The gubernatorial candidate of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Delta state, Engr, Dr Goodnews Agbi has dismissed rumour making the round that he had withdrawn from the governorship race, pointing accusation finger at the camp of APC guber candidate, Ovie Omo-Agege.

Agbi however accused some persons in the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state for allegedly orchestrating the withdrawal rumour.

He disclosed this while inaugurating the new executive of Oyede Ward 12, on Friday February 3, 2023, charging the party faithful not to be swayed by cooked-up rumours that he was stepping down from the race.

He claimed that the rumour was coming from the camp of APC governorship candidate, Ovie Omo-Agege whom he alleged orchestrated the plot by some elements in his ward to forge signatures in order to indicate that he had withdrawn from the 2023 governorship race.

He said that at a time they had threatened to ‘circulate fictitious and forged documents’ accusing him of having sympathy and working with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who is the PDP vice presidential candidate.

Agbi disclosed that the rumour making the round was stemmed from plot by a former ward chairman of the party who allegedly connived with the State secretary of the party to use fictitious elements from his home base in trying to malign and discredit him.

“You all should vote for me. I am the INEC recognized governorship candidate of NNPP. I’m in the ballot box for March 11 2023 election. I am not stepping down. So all the Omo-Agege plots and propaganda will not dampen my spirit

“The erstwhile chairman is an agent of APC in the Ward, who in connivance with the State NNPP secretary, who is a cousin of Omo-Agege and from the unit/ward with him in Orogun, cooked up forged signatures of non-existing people in my Oyede ward 12, with fake suspension letter to tarnish my image”, the NNPP guber candidate alleges.

Agbi further lamented that the APC government has squeezed life out of the ordinary Nigerians and should be voted out in the general election.

He contended that though the CBN monetary policy is good, the implementation is faulty adding that corrupt politician who was hoping of using “Tinubu’s billions to persecute the election will be highly disappointed”.

He said that he would not be deterred by the rumour of stepping down being orchestrated by the Omo-Agege’s camp, saying; “I’m not deterred and that will not stop me from exposing his corrupt deeds”.

He urged the party executive at the ward level to work assiduously for the party and stamp out any trace of Omo-Agege by giving him zero votes for his anti Isoko posture.

  • (Opinion) Omo-Agege Political Pursuits: Why are APC Exco members of Isoko extraction dumping Omo-Agege?

(Opinion) Omo-Agege Political Pursuits: Why are APC Exco members of Isoko extraction dumping Omo-Agege?

    By Sylvester Imonina

Recently, an Isoko; Mr. Nick Ovuakporie abandoned the hopeless and distasteful political contraption called, Delta APC for PDP. Up till when Nick Ovuakporie took the honourable decision to call it quits with Delta APC, he was the State Secretary of the Party.

Also, on or about the 18th day of January, 2022, the erstwhile outspoken Publicity Secretary of Delta APC, Sylvester Imonina, Esq. left the exalted position he occupied and also resigned his membership of the Party due to irreconcilable differences he had with the Party’s leadership as it concerned Isoko Nation.

Today, the former Delta APC Scribe is at peace with himself and those around him. Since Imonina left the Party of crabs’ mentality, things are no longer at ease at the publicity office! What a pity!

Sometime in the year 2020, the former Deputy State women leader of Delta APC, Late Mrs. Lizzy Ejenavo left the Party due to the high-handedness and disposition of the Party’s leadership towards her and her teeming supporters.

Late Mrs. Lizzy Ejenavo was a thoroughbred political amazon of Isoko extraction. Unfortunately, she could not achieve the good thoughts she had for her people because of only one man who wants to be “all and all” in the affairs of men!

The question that readily comes to mind is why are top executive members of APC from Isoko Nation always abandoning DSP Ovie Omo-Agege? There is a saying in Isoko that “when a needle pierces one spot always, there is a problem”!

It is on the above-mentioned aphorism that I unequivocally say that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, alias betrayer of “political benefactors” is a hater of anything Isoko. That is, Omo-Agege’s dislike for the good and progress of Isoko is second to none. Otherwise, why would refined and capable hands in Delta APC from Isoko Nation be abandoning Omo-Agege’s sinking political ship always?

Let me give you a few instances of Omo-Agege’s disparaging conduct towards Isoko ethnic Nationality. Just recently, there was pipeline surveillance jobs for youths of oil-bearing communities.

The contract/headship of the surveillance jobs that was supposed to be given to an Isoko son as of right was cornered by Omo-Agege and handed over to his younger brother. Painfully, after several months of work by the few persons that were employed, their salaries have remained unpaid, unlike their counterparts from other ethnic Nationalities in Delta State!

Also, it might interest Deltans to know that when Omo-Agege created Directorates in his campaign council, no Isoko man was qualified enough in the estimation of Omo-Agege to be appointed a Director of any of the Directorates. It was after he received a huge condemnation of his disposition towards the Isoko Nation and fear of not getting the support of Isoko people that he quickly created an unknown and insignificant Directorate just two weeks ago and made an Isoko man its Director! Hmmmmmmmm, Delta APC Maradona thinks he can fool the Isokos. It will not happen!

Almost three years ago, DSP Omo-Agege told Isoko people that he had used his influence at the Federal level to get the approval of One Billion Naira for rehabilitation and construction works for public Primary and Secondary Schools in Isoko Nation. He told the Isokos to take his promises to “the bank but unfortunately, there are no dividends of his promises in any Bank in Nigeria and/ or on earth”. It is unfortunate that the Delta APC political Maradona is not ready to change his ways of doing things!

It is also worthy of note that no Isoko man occupies any significant position in the APC-led Federal Government. No thanks to Emperor Ovie Omo-Agege who thinks clannishly in everything he does.

Omo-Agege’s dislike for the Isoko Nation makes him to use divide and rule approach amongst the diminishing supporters of his in Isoko Nation. In fact, Omo-Agege is a die-hard believer of “yes sir, yes sir leadership style” whose desire is to see an average Isoko kowtowing before him any time, any day, without the demand for his right.

It is a pity that few ignorant Isokos are still singing his praises. Well, let it be known to them that Omo-Agege does not like an average Isoko man. The earlier they realize this, the better for his hallelujah boys and men in Isoko.

Lest I forget, there is a saying in Isoko that “until you sleep close to a fowl, you will not know that the fowl snores”.

Some notable sons and daughters of Isoko have had their bitter experiences with Omo-Agege. I, therefore advise those who have ears to hear and make use of this undiluted truth of a concerned Deltan/Isoko.

ISOKOS ARE NOT A CONQUERED PEOPLE!

Proposed N100bn loan: Omo-Agege warns Premium Trust others ahead, says it may end up a gift to Delta

Deputy Senate President and Delta APC Governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has warned Premium Trust Bank, the Lead Lender of Delta State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa’s proposed new N100 billion loan, and the other banks involved to desist, or the loan could become a free-will donation to the state.

He has also restated that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will lose the next elections and the incoming APC government would repudiate any loan handed Governor Okowa a mere three months to the end of his tenure.

Senator Omo-Agege, Tuesday, January 31, during the ongoing ward to ward campaigns of the APC at Ibusa, Akuku-Igbo and Okpanam, in Oshimili North LGA,
said Delta under Governor Okowa was over borrowed and warned major banks doing business with the state not to lend any further to Governor Okowa.

He called on Deltans to use the upcoming polls to punish such members of the State House of Assembly and all others who speedily approve loans with scant regard for their consequences on the economic viability of the State and her posterity.

“Any government official who refused to look the governor in the eye and tell him the truth including Assembly Members should be punished. How can one man misappropriate over N4.2 trillion, and still go borrowing so recklessly? We are tired of Governor Okowa. We received have more money than Rivers and Akwa Ibom States but those states are construction sites.

“In spite of all Governor Okowa has received in the past seven years and eight months, the two main commercial roads in the State: Ughelli/Asaba Road and PTI/Eku/Orerokpe/Abraka/Agbor Road are in total disrepair. We are the richest state in the Niger Delta, yet our youths have no jobs. School fees of the State owned tetiary institutions have sky rocketed, yet workers are denied minimum wage, and retirees are unpaid. So how do parents pay such school fees?

“Since Governor Okowa has refused to commit “political suicide” following his betrayal of the accord he midwifed on behalf of the leaders and governors of Southern Nigeria, come out with your PVC on February 25, and retire him permanently.

“Do not vote for me because of what I am telling you. Vote for me because of the ideas we have for Delta State. We plan to create jobs for our youths, that is our priority. We will set up Independent Power Plants, IPPs, that will be people-oriented. I will rather be in Government House without electricity so that the people can have it, to be comfortable and to power their businesses.

“To vote for Governor Okowa’s stooge, the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, known for questionable academic credentials, would be a slight on the people of Oshimil North that are renowned for producing the highest number of professors in the State,” he said.

Earlier on, State Chairman of APC, Elder Omeni Sobotie said the days of Governor Okowa and PDP are numbered and charged the people to reject him and his stooge, Oborevwori, at the polls

“Shoot down the dream of Okowa becoming vice president” he said. He also drummed up support for Delta North Senator, Peter Nwaoboshi, explaining that when reelected, he stands the brightest chance of becoming the next senate president. He therefore called on the people to support him and all other candidates of the APC in the forthcoming elections.

  • [Opinion] Omo-Agege and his fifty lies-By Friday Ewiwilem

[Opinion] Omo-Agege and his fifty lies-By Friday Ewiwilem

The good people of Delta State have come to see through the sham and scam that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege truly is.

Although, the majority of the people didn’t take him seriously at any point they now marvel at the ridiculous manner he has played politics making childish promises and telling lies that an averagely intelligent fellow will not tell.

We have it on good authority that even those close to him have advised him to minimize his lies but he will not listen.

He has become a pathological crisis waiting to happen and people are wondering how he will relieve all of these after he must have lost the election in less than two months.

Those who know are of the opinion that his followers and friends should organize a therapy for him to cure him of post-election grand delusion trauma.

Omo-Agege’s lies are many and they have reached the level where they can be called uncountable. He has lied against the incumbent Governor of Delta State Senator, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa who is also the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He has also lied against Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Delta State Governorship candidate of the PDP. He accused Governor Okowa of so many things including misappropriation.

He accused Hon. Oborevwori of so many things including being a stooge of Governor Okowa. Yet, Governor Okowa’s achievements as Governor of Delta State remain unparalleled and these have earned him awards across the world. Governor Okowa is one of the most strategic politicians in Nigeria today and the records are there to speak for themselves.

Hon. Oborevwori has emerged to become an astute politician, grassroots mobilizer, loved by the masses, and a consensus builder who enjoys the distinction of being the only Deltan to be elected Speaker of the House of Assembly twice and also enjoys the credit of being the State’s longest serving Speaker. These are the political sui generis Omo-Agege is abusing and telling lies against.

The more worrisome lies have to do with his promising Deltans the moon when in truth he knows he cannot even deliver on basic things. Omo-Agege’s antecedents depict him as a man who comes pretending and then shows his true colour after getting what he wants.

He did it to our former Governor, Chief James Ibori and he also did it to Chief Otega Emerhor and Chief Great Ogboru.

Omo-Agege returned from the United States of America like a beggar in 2003. He contested the primary election for the Federal House of Representatives and failed woefully. Then Chief Ibori rehabilitated him.

He became his colour as soon as he got into Government. The rest is history. After failing in over six elections he cried to Chief Ogboru who offered him the Labour Party ticket. He was even waiting on Ogboru and eventually he won the Senate election. He went on to stab Ogboru in the back and he also did the same thing to OTega Emerhor.

Omo-Agege’s tools are blackmail and lies. He sees running down opponents and promising the people what he cannot deliver on as political virtues when indeed they are vices. He doesn’t care about principles and the consequences of saying what he cannot do.

What he is after is raw power and vengeful use to which he, can put it. So far besides the lies he told against Governor Okowa and Hon. Oborevwori, Omo-Agege has promised Deltans too many things that he is alleged to have  told some of his people that he has forgotten many of the things he promised. Omo-Agege is acting true to type.

It was the same way the APC promised Nigerians a lot of things in 2015 and today the party has not been able to fulfill them. The APC is leaving Nigeria far far worse than it met it. This is the line Omo-Agege is toeing. To him, the APC did it in 2014 and it worked and he is doing it now.

Omo-Agege humorously believes that since there are twenty-five Local Government Areas in Delta State, he was going to tell fifty lies with each Local Government receiving two lies. This is actually what he is doing right now. Omo-Agege has so far promised three universities, he has promised four polytechnics, he has promised to turn Delta State into Dubai.

He has promised to build three sea ports while the one he promised for Okwagbe as far back as seven years ago is still a mirage. He has promised bridges, roads, electricity, free education, free healthcare and so many other free things that one has truly lost count. The man has abandoned his poorly written manifesto to making promises he knows he cannot and will not fulfill. The truth is that he has actually told more than fifty lies given the fact that each community he visits now must receive a lie.

Is this the kind of man that wants to govern Delta State? Deltans must think and look well so that what the scam APC got away with in 2015 will not repeat itself here.

  • Beware Of Tinubu, Omo-Agege And APC

Beware Of Tinubu, Omo-Agege And APC

    By Daniel Nwakolu.

The time has come for Nigerians to do an evaluation of the unfolding process that is leading us to the 2023 election cycle. As it is with elections coming at the end of two terms, there is a lot of conversation going on among the candidates who are canvassing for votes. Claims and counterclaims, accusations and counteraccusations, bare-faced lies, unscrupulous propaganda, and other devious tools have been deployed in the ongoing process. Politicians will always have their say, but the people must be circumspect as they listen to the politicians. They must take whatever they say with a pinch of salt and subject such to scrutiny. As they examine what the politicians are saying by way of promises, abuses, and self-defence, the people must look back and reckon the contribution of the candidates to the fortune or misfortune of our country. Thankfully, the voting age is made up of a demography that can reason and ask questions. In reasoning and asking questions we are able to avoid the mistake of our recent past.

It is in the light of the above that one is compelled to review the aspirations of two candidates who have been central to the misfortune of Nigeria in the last seven years. There is no longer a single shred of doubt in the mind of over 200 million Nigerians that their country has been driven aground and that they are going through their worst experience ever. And when they think and look around they know and see the people responsible for their present ordeal and the painful thing is that instead of these people who turned Nigeria into hell to be begging for forgiveness, they are out there campaigning that they want to continue to rule and destroy us and they are boasting and bragging about it. Two among those who have turned Nigeria into a hellish jungle are Bola Tinubu former Governor of Lagos State and now the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Ovie Omo-Agege, the Delta State APC Governorship candidate.

Both men have so much in common. They are trying to escape from a dirty past which refuses to leave them. Tinubu has been linked to drugs and money laundering in America while Omo-Agege was sanctioned for fraud and forgery also in America. Both men also have identity issues arising from their dark pasts. Tinubu has no name recognition prior to the 1970s and the records of his education have never been sighted. Omo-Agege is afraid of his old name Augustine. These men, Tinubu and Omo-Agege are hooded men. Both of them are disasters in public governance. Forget about the lies regarding what Tinubu did in Lagos. Omo-Agege as SSG in Delta State was a disaster.

Let us now focus on how they and their party, APC, destroyed Nigeria in the last seven years. Tinubu was among the politicians who put together the APC that produced President Muhammadu Buhari. Tinubu is credited to be the funder and pusher of the APC idea and he saw to the coalition that produced the fraud that the APC became. Buhari in 2011 swore that he was not going to contest elections again. But Tinubu led others to wake him up from his sleep in Daura and rebranded him. Tinubu used his media and pseudo-intellectuals to mount a blistering propaganda that painted then-President Jonathan black and deceived Nigerians. Tinubu and his cohorts in the APC promised Nigeria that they would eradicate corruption, do away with insecurity and give us a prosperous economy. Today, seven years after they have given us hell instead of the good things they promised. Nigeria is the poorest nation in the world. The country is also the most corrupt and most insecure place in the world. Our people are living in bondage because of Tinubu.

As for Omo-Agege, he is a messenger-slave to the ruling cabal. He is their sidekick in the South and ever willing to do their biddings. The disgraceful picture of him kneeling down to thank President Buhari spoke so much about his servitude to the cabal. He was accused of having a link with felons who stole the mace. He also supported the Water Resources bill. He also kept quiet when the herdsmen were killing his own people. He is very good at talking about “Mr. President” as if that was more important than Nigeria. At the moment he is campaigning to be the Governor of Delta State and pushing too many lies into the public space. What Omo-Agege represents is suffering that is worse than what we already have. The people of Delta State must reject suffering and reject Omo-Agege. Nigerians and Deltans must place a caveat emptor on Tinubu and Omo-Agege because both men are a major part of their sufferings. Tinubu appears to be experiencing debilitating health challenges, while Omo-Agege is suffering from Trust Deficiency Syndrome (TSD) and High Betrayal Propensity (HBP). The good people of Delta State must reject them.

  • DUG finally dumps PDP for APC as members endorse Omo-Agege

DUG finally dumps PDP for APC as members endorse Omo-Agege

…as APC guber candidate boasts, this is the tsunami I promised

A political tsunami has hit Delta State as the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, breakaway wing, Delta Unity Group, DUG, declared for the All Progressives Congress, APC, with a commitment to vote all candidates of the party in the 2023 general elections.

The DUG parades is the faction which previously coalesced around David Edevbie, Former Delta Governor, Chief James Ibori’s choice for Delta state governor; a choice that was rebuffed by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, in favour of House Speaker, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

At a Special Declaration Rally, at the St George’s College, Obinomba, some members of DUG members donning their red shirts and hats, led by its chairman, three time member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Daniel Reyenieju; ex- house speakers, Chief Monday Igbuya and Rt Hon Olisa Imegwu, among others, declared formally for the APC.

Speaking, Rt Hon Reyenieju said the DUG was founded and created to support the best candidate of the PDP, but when the best could not be presented, “we went round the state for a man who could do the modernization programme of David Edevbie and found that capacity in the person of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege. Galvanizing that find outside would be meaningless hence, we decided to join the APC.”

Director-General of the Delta APC Campaign Council, Elder Godsday Orubebe, celebrated the leadership of the DUG for joining in the effort to salvage Delta state at a most critical moment. He noted that governance collapsed in Delta once Chief Ibori left as governor, and that the state is yet to recover.

On his part, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, said his dream for APC to take over Delta State is coming to pass. “We had some problems, we were fighting against each other, but God took that problem and gave it to PDP. God has divided PDP to three parts and brought two thirds of it to join the APC.”

Among leadership of the DUG that decamped were: Hon Daníel Reyenieyu, former three-term House of Reps member; Hon Mercy Almona-Isei, former House of Reps Hon member; Rt Hon. Monday Igbuya, former Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly; Rt Hon Olise Imegwu, former Speaker and former House of Reps member, and Chief Judith Enamuotor, former Commissioner and Board of trustee, BOT, member of PDP.

Others included Hon Alaowe Timi Tonye, former State Assembly member; Dr Karo Ilolo, former Commissioner Urban Renewal; Chief Faith Majemite, former Ethiope East council Chairman; Chiefs Stanley Odali and Pius Ovbije; Hon Evans Iwurie, Felix Ndukwe, Comrade Mike Akpobire, Chief Florence Akpoibo, Ejifeoma Esere, Comrade Ingo Isaiah Tam and Dr. Sebastian Agbefe.

  • Delta: APC campaign now a liberation movement, say Omo-Agege, Sobotie

Delta: APC campaign now a liberation movement, say Omo-Agege, Sobotie

Deputy Senate President and Delta All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and the State Chairman of the party, Elder Omeni Sobotie, have said the APC campaign for the 2023 general elections in Delta has been taken over by the people and is now officially, a liberation movement.

Both men spoke at the ongoing ward to ward campaign of the APC at Isiokolo, Orogun and Agbarha-Otor, Friday, January 20.

Senator Omo-Agege said that Deltans are embittered by the mis-governance of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and have on their own, turned the APC governorship campaign into the biggest protest movement the state has ever seen.

“When we started the campaign it was Ovie Omo-Agege campaign, but now the people have taken it over, it has become a revolution.

“In this revolution our people are saying that they are tired of bad governance and tired of the PDP and that is why they come out in droves to welcome and show their support wherever we go.”

He encouraged party faithful and supporters to sustain the zeal and go from house to house, door to door, neighbour to neighbour to mobilize Deltans for APC.

He saluted the founding leader of the party in Delta, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, for providing leadership and ensuring unity. He also commended former Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, among other leaders, for rising to the challenge to position APC for victory in Delta State.

Senator Omo-Agege said the PDP in Delta State and across the country is divided by greed and self aggrandizement as shown by the selfish ambition of Governor Okowa to be Vice President, and as such the party will never reconcile.

“But the APC is united and growing from strength to strength. So I want to thank you for making this happen.”

He also thanked his kinsmen who were former pillars of the PDP in Ughelli North, but dumped the party and embraced APC.

“I want to thank Chief Andy Osawota, the pioneer executive secretary of DESOPADEC, Chief Pius Odioko Ovbije, aka POC, Professor Innocent Ojefia and others. These were the pillars of PDP in Ughelli North and who, upon learning of my governorship candidacy, dropped the umbrella and joined the APC. I want to thank them for the honour and support.

“I thank the Arewa people in Delta State for your support since 2015 till date. I want to, on behalf of our people, say thank you all,” he said.

Senator Omo-Agege committed to provide electricity, complete the hospital that has been under construction in Agbarha-Otor for the past 20 years, and light up the streets of all its communities.

Speaking earlier, Rt Hon. Friday Osanebi, running mate to Senator Omo-Agege, said the huge support the APC campaign has received is an indication that the people were angry and want a change. He promised that an APC led government in Delta State will not disappoint them.

State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, reiterated that the APC governorship campaign was already a peoples movement. He said the PDP is divided against itself both at State and national level and that the massive defections to APC are divinely inspired. He asked Deltans to watch out for more high profile decamping in the days ahead.

Director General of the State Campaign Council, Elder Godsday Orubebe, said Deltans will be happy with Senator Omo-Agege as governor, while Deputy Director General, Otive Igbuzor, said electing Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as governor is a prophesy fulfilled.

At Agbarha-Otor, the ward chairman, Chief David Owhokevwo, said the huge turnout was in appreciation of what Senator Omo-Agege has done for the people and assured of 100 percent support for APC candidates at the polls.

In a goodwill message, Isiokolo born U.S. based Professor and Lawyer, Dr Felix O. Okpe, Leader of the Delta State Diaspora Support Group-USA, said Senator Omo-Agege’s candidacy is a beacon of hope and offers the best opportunity for the economic revolution of Agbon Kingdom and Delta State in general.

“ Senator Omo-Agege’s socio-economic agenda and electoral promises are beyond mere words. His agenda is attractive to foreign investments and Deltans in the Diaspora who account for more than 20% of diaspora remittances amounting to billions of dollars are willing to partner with him to contribute to the development of the State”, he said
