My family and I are safe – Omotola Jalade speaks on ‘escaping’ California wildfires

Popular Nigerian actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has refuted reports claiming that her safety is compromised due to the ongoing fires in Los Angeles, assuring her fans and followers that she and her family are safe.

TheNewsGuru reports that reports had made rounds online that the actress and her family had fled the states and evacuated her home in 20 minutes, after escaping the devastating Los Angeles wildfire

Most publications, not TNG, reported the news stating that the veteran returned to Nigeria following the tragic ordeal that befell her while in the US.

However, in a public statement issued on Tuesday via her Instagram, Omotola thanked her fans for the outpouring love and thoughtfulness recieved since the reports regarding LA fires.

The actress also took the opportunity to clear up misinformation that had circulated about her whereabouts, stressing that the fire were not the reasons for her travel.

The statement reads: I want to take a moment to address the incredible outpouring of concern and support I’ve received over the past few days regarding the fires in Los Angeles. First and foremost, I want to thank each and every one of you who have reached out with kind words, prayers, and love. Your thoughtfulness means the world to me.

“To clarify and set the record straight: My family and I are safe. However, I’ve seen reports suggesting I had to leave the United States because of the fires. This is inaccurate. I have been in Nigeria since December 2024 and am still here presently. While I deeply cherish my connection to Los Angeles, these fires were not the reason for my travel. I kindly urge media outlets and individuals to correct this misinformation.

“That said, my heart remains in Los Angeles during this difficult time. It is not just a city to me—it’s a home, a community, and a place where countless dreams continue to Fly. As the fires continue to threaten lives and homes, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted, from first responders working tirelessly to those who have faced unimaginable loss.

“This moment is a reminder of how interconnected we all are, regardless of where we stand in the world. It is a call to unity, resilience, and empathy. I invite you all, regardless of where you may be, to join me in praying for Los Angeles and in supporting organizations on the ground making a difference.

“Thank you again for your love, your care, and your understanding. Together, we stand stronger. Together, we will rebuild.

    God bless you all.”

Omotola almost bath naked under waterfalls- Yemi Amodu opens up on new movie

Prolific filmmaker, Yemi Amodu has said for his forthcoming movie Shadow Parties ,his initial intention was to have award winning actress, Omotola bathe naked under waterfalls.

Shadow Parties is a flick about a communal clash that snowballs into a national quagmire, throwing up suspicion, hatred, killings, arson, kidnapping and other vices. In the cast of the engaging film are Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Segun Arinze, Yemi Black, Sola Shobowale, Jibola Dabo, Toyin Abraham and others.

In a chat with Phenomenal.com.ng, Amodu stated: “Most of our films lack originality. Omotola is the one who was supposed to bathe naked under the waterfalls, but we couldn’t really achieve that.”

On the cost of featuring Omotola in the movie, he said: ““One thing is sure: if you have the right cast, you have a good film. Because I have an important message to pass, I have to go for actors that people will like to watch, those they can easily connect to and listen to. I, for instance, see Omotola as an ambassador of peace. So, if I am writing about peace, it is sensible for me to think in her direction. I also need someone who would be able to interpret the role well. When she is abducted, she should be able to tell her abductors some truth.”

I married at 18 because I was ready, was already a millionaire — Omotola Jalade

Sensational actress and filmmaker, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde stunned many of her fans recently when she said she got married at the age of 18 and was already a millionaire.

Speaking in a recent interview with BBC Yoruba, the actress said, “One must apply wisdom or common sense in everything one does. People cannot say that because I married at 18, therefore they can also do it. The question is, ‘are you ready for marriage’? When I was 18, I was ready. I had been working since I was 15-year-old and I had become a millionaire at the age of 18. That is a fact that a lot of people don’t know.

I had my own money. I was not dependent on any man. Moreover, my father died early, so I was already responsible for my younger siblings. I was like their mother at that time, so I was very mature and financially prepared.

One should not marry a man when one is not financially stable. If one does that, one would be going into slavery or better still, prison. If any of my children, after considering all these factors, say they are ready for marriage, we (parents) would meet the person and if we like them, we would give them our blessings.”
