    One Million Boys: Police speaks on arresting singer Portable

    Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, famously known as Portable will be arrested after an investigation is fully launched and competed against him over the One Million Boys comment he made a few days on goal on social media.

    The spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this in an interview he granted to newsmen on Thursday in Lagos.

    Hundeyin stated that the command had yet to conclude a preliminary investigation on the matter, adding that the singer has a case to answer when the investigation is concluded.

    Recall that the vociferous musician had in a now-deleted video, which went viral on Monday, boasted of forming One Million Boys and another notorious group known as Ajah Boys.

    Following the development, the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, ordered Portable’s probe over his alleged ties to the notorious gang terrorizing Lagos and parts of Ogun State.

    In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, Baba directed the Lagos Police Command to probe the singer over his ties to the cult groups.

    “Sequel to the trending video of one Habeeb Okikiola aka Portable where he claimed to have formed the One-Million Boys cult group terrorizing some parts of Lagos State, the IGP has ordered CP Lagos to investigate the indicting statement and take necessary legal action.

    “This directive is premised on the continuous effort of the Nigeria Police Force to fish out pillars and sponsors of cult groups to decimate their activities and restore sanity to our society,” the statement read.

    The singer however retracted his statement hours later, saying that he was referring to his fans as One Million Boys.

    Popular music promoter Sam Larry has debunked claims by’ singer, Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable that he is aware he (Portable) founded well-known cult groups Ajah boys and One Million Boys which terrorised Lagos State residents.

    Sam Larry reacted to a 58-second video that went viral on social media.

    “I had that something is happening on social media about One Million Boys. I don’t know anything about them and I don’t know them. Portable who mentioned my name, I am his benefactor. I helped him to travel because am a promoter.

    “When did I know you? It is not up to a year now. I am your benefactor and you are using that to tannish my image. You did not mention my name alone but on Social media everyone is there mentioning my name. Where did we meet for One Million Boys? What is the meaning of that? Don’t ever mention my name on something bad.

    “Henceforth, don’t ever call me. I will even block you too.

    “My wife’s family and other people have been calling to ask me what is the meaning of One Million Boys Portable mentioned my name about? Please correct yourself because I don’t know you,” he added.

    Singer Portable lands in big trouble after confessing to founding deadly cult groups terrorizing Lagos

    Popular Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola aka Portable has landed himself in big trouble after releasing a video of himself confessing to being the founder of two deadly cult groups terrorizing Lagos State.

    In a video that has since gone viral, Portable was seen saying in Yoruba that he is the founder of One-Million Boys and Ajah Boys cult groups.

    Recall that the One Million Boys and Ajah Boys court groups have been a torn on the flesh of residents of some parts of Lagos.

    The cult groups terrorised residents, sending letters to them to inform of coming to rob them.

    With the release of the video, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has said its operatives would investigate the popular singer.

    The order to investigate the controversial singer was given by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Baba.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, FHQ Abuja, made the order of the IGP known in a tweet on Monday.

    “Police to Investigate Portable over formation of One Million Boys Sequel to the trending video of one Habeeb Okikiola aka Portable where he claimed to have formed the One-Million Boys cult group terrorising some parts of Lagos State, the IGP has ordered.

    “CP Lagos to investigate the indicting statement and take necessary legal action. This directive is premised on the continuous effort of the Nigeria Police Force to fish out pillars and sponsors of cult groups in order to decimate their activities and restore sanity to our society,” the tweet reads.

    “Open your ears and hear me, Have you heard about Ajah Boys, One Million Boys, I’m their founder. Go and ask Sammy larry,” Portable said in the Yoruba language in the video attached to the tweet, which has since gone viral.

    Second-in-command of deadly ‘One Million Boys’ gang arrested in Oyo

    The second in command to the late Abiola Ebila, the leader of the notorious One Million boys in Ibadan been arrested and currently facing trial.

    Ebila was recently killed by the men of Operation Burst at Ibadan when he was reported to be involved in a kidnap ring and security personnel rounded him up at his hideout.

    The second in command, popularly known as ‘Eji’ has assumed leadership of the gang before being arrested for sundry criminal offenses and handed over to the police for trial.

    Eji’s arrest was confirmed on Saturday by the Director-General of Oyo State Joint Security Task Force, popularly known as ‘Operation Burst’, Col. Oladipo Ajibola rtd.

    Col. Ajibola said the security outfit has rid Ibadan of the menace of the notorious gang as the rest of them have run out of the State to seek cover in Lagos and other States.

    “Operation Burst has been able to reduce criminality in Oyo State, people now go about doing their businesses without fear, we have effected a lot of arrests in relation to cultism, yahoo boys and other criminals and hand them over to the right security agency concerned, the high profile among the criminal cases was Abiola Ebila.

    “Abiola Ebila, the leader of one million boys was involved in kidnapping and we got him through one of the personalities he kidnapped while he was asking for ransom, the elimination of Abiola Ebila has sent other gang leaders out of Oyo State and we are still trailing those who are their minions.

    “We have succeeded in getting one of them recently who was the second in command to the late Ebila, we handed him over to another security agency for proper investigation and prosecution and we urge the general public to avail the security agencies prompt information to nip criminality in the bud.”

    He noted that Operation Burst’s activities have been extended to the hot spots in Ibadan, among which were Foko, Odo Oba, Olomi Olodo, Oke-Ogun zone and Oyo State in general, adding that the outfit’s Call Center for distress calls would soon be commissioned.

    He explained that the mode of operation Burst was to only swing into action in cases that other security agencies require strong backup force, citing the arrest of drug traffickers, kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists and others and handing the culprits over to the agency saddled by law to prosecute each crime.

    He, however, appreciated the governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde for doing his best by providing the needed mobility, accessories, and other support.

    He called on parents to watch over their children and counsel them on morality as they resume back to school on Monday, saying that parents should be inquisitive and always have the trust of their wards so they could confide in them whenever they were involved in any danger or invited to join cultism.

    The Ogun State Police Command has detained three suspected members of a notorious criminal gang, One million Boys, for gang-raping a lady.

     

    The suspects — Sola Olaoluwa, Ibrahim Kehinde and Lukman Banjoko — were reported to have committed the act with two others said to be at large.

     

    The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, revealed this on Tuesday in a statement.

     

    Oyeyemi said the suspects were arrested following a complaint l by the victim at the Ogijo Divisional Police Station.

     

    He said the victim reported that she met one Enny Money, who asked her to download an application on her phone with assurance that the people she would meet on the app would help her financially.

     

    Oyeyemi said, “She further stated that as soon as she downloaded the app, one man whom she later knew to be the same Enny Money started chatting with her and invited her to Idimogun area of Ogijo.

     

    “On getting there, she was lured into a house where she was subsequently gang-raped by five men who called themselves members of One Million Boys.

     

    “The gang, according to the victim, forced her into submission when they pointed a gun at her and while they were taking turns to rape her, one of them was video recording the action with his phone.”

     

    On how they were nabbed, the police spokesman said, “Upon the report, the DPO Ogijo division, CSP Muhammed Suleiman, dispatched detectives to go after the hoodlums and bring them to justice.

     

    “Around 5am on July 24, 2020, the detectives succeeded in arresting the duo of Sola Olaoluwa, 35; and Ibrahim Kehinde,19.

     

    “Their arrest led detectives to the third suspect, Lukman Banjoko, 20,.

    “On interrogation, the suspects made confessional statements that they committed the crime.

     

    “They further confessed that the victim was the second person they gang-raped in that area.”

     

    Oyeyemi said a toy gun, which they used to scare the casualty and the phone used to record act, were recovered.

    The leader of the “One million boys” gang and most wanted Ibadan criminal, Biola Ebila, has been killed by the police.

    The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Oyo State, SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the death of Ebila on Sunday in Ibadan.

    Fadeyi, however, said that he does not have the details and manner in which the deceased was killed.

    He said: “The information reaching me from the Divisional Police Officer, Idi-Arere, revealed that his corpse and that of his colleagues who confronted the policemen strategically deployed to that axis were brought with a tricycle to Kudeti area.

    “At that instance, two of their members were also arrested, so they retrieved and brought the corpses to the station.

    “He has been on the wanted list of the police and the police have been trailing him.

    “What actually transpired and details on how he was killed, I don’t have it now, but he has been confirmed dead.’’

    Ebila, who had been on the wanted list of Oyo State Police Command was reportedly killed around Olomi area of Ibadan.

    The deceased was declared wanted by the State Police Command for alleged involvement in the murder of another Ibadan gang leader, Ekugbemi, on May 12.

    COVID-19 lockdown: Sleep with your eyes closed, ‘One Million boys’ already disbanded, Police tell Lagos residents

    The Lagos State Police Command has assured residents of its commitment to protect lives and property especially during the lockdown occasioned by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus [COVID-19] in the state.

    The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu who gave the assurance after a tour of the city said the activities of the dreaded ‘one million boys’ in the state are over saying the terror group have been disbanded.

    Recall that residents have complained of holding vigils to keep their environment safe after several reports of the robbery gang launching terror on their victims in almost a statewide coordinated operation.

    The group has also allegedly threatened that it would carry out more armed robbery attacks in some listed neighbourhoods.

    However, the police described the group as “non-existent”, adding it had strengthened its surveillance across neighbourhoods.

    The Commissioner of Police who led squadrons of anti-robbery policemen to various tension-soaked communities on Friday, allayed residents’ fear, saying the criminal gang called “One Million Boys” had been disbanded in several operations.

    Odumosu said a new set of criminally minded people may be hiding under the gang’s name to scare the public, but he assured all that the police, in conjunction with other security agencies, would neutralise such threat.

    He said: “Today, we have come out in full show of force to give you assurance that there’s nothing like ‘One Million Boys’; they are criminals. Be assured that Government is out to protect you. The police are out there to guarantee your safety and we are doing this in conjunction with soldiers, Navy, Air Force and Department of State Services (DSS) operatives.

    “So, we are asking you not to panic. Go about your lawful engagements. When it is time for you to sleep, you should sleep without nurturing the fear that some faceless criminal gangs will come and attack you. Faceless people are sending letters around only to put fears in your mind. We will respond swiftly to any attack and we shall be patrolling round the State.”

    Odumosu gave out emergency numbers to call in case of armed robbery attacks and cautioned residents not to burn tyres on roads because such acts damage and pose health risks to children and the sick.

    The police chief said the security agencies had been carrying out land and aerial surveillance to ensure the safety of residents during the lockdown imposed by the Federal Government to tackle the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

    Some of the areas visited by Odumosu and his team of combat-ready policemen include Ikotun, Pako-Ijesha, Igando, Mushin, Surulere, Festac Town, Idimu, Ikeja, Ojodu, Berger, Ogba, Fadeyi, and Onipanu among others.
