  • Ooni of Ife drags ex-Queen Naomi’s brother to Court over illegal conversion of N26m

Ooni of Ife drags ex-Queen Naomi’s brother to Court over illegal conversion of N26m

The police in Ondo have charged Ogunseyi Akinfolarin, a former brother-in-law of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, with forgery and illegal conversion of N26 million.

The accused is Naomi Silekunola’s brother, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife.

Akinfolarin was accused of forging the Atibiti Faaye family’s receipt for the acquisition of 32 parcels of land. He was charged with three counts of forgery and illegal conversion of money.

One of the charges read: “That you, Ogunseyi Akinfolarin, fraudulently convert the sum of N26m being proceeds of the sale of plots of land belonging to Atibuti Oni at Akure, Ondo State.”

According to the prosecution, the alleged offenses were committed in September 2019.

The alleged offenses are punishable under sections 467 and 390(8)(b) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol 1 Laws of Ondo State 2006. Akinfolarin pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Prosecuting counsel DSP Osoobu Itunu told the court that the team is ready to open the case, adding that all witnesses are ready to testify.

Justice Yemi Fasanmi adjourned the case to January 9, 2023, for trial.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the three-year marriage between Naomi and the Ooni of Ife had come to an abrupt end, with the estranged Olori stating in her Instagram post, “Today, I am a mother to God’s unique gift. I am no longer a slave to my thoughts of perfection.”

Naomi and the Ooni tied the knot in 2018 after Olori Wuraola left the Ooni in 2017.

Announcing the separation, Naomi set the records straight about her separation to avoid any misconceptions, saying her decision to move on has nothing to do with the Ooni marrying another queen.

She stated that she was indeed the only wife of the Ooni throughout their marriage even though there were side attractions, which “was never an issue.”

“I shall no longer be referred to as wife to the Ooni of Ife or as Queen of Ile-Ife” as she described herself as the Queen of the people and mother of her son.

Naomi further alleged the hypocrisy of the monarch, stating that Ooni’s public perception is different from his true character.

Her post reads: “I bless the Lord Almighty for His faithfulness in the last 3 years of my marriage. In life’s journey, it isn’t how far. Still, how well, indeed though satan should buffet if trials should come, I have this blessed assurance controlling all situations and saying to me it is well with my soul. Certainly, it is well. I made my journey into the ancient throne of Ife with faith in my heart and love for the keeper of it.

“Few impressions I would love to correct. If anyone knows otherwise, they are free to come up with facts. Let it be known that this decision to move on did not come because his majesty is married to another queen. As many would love to assume, throughout our life as a couple, I was the only married wife to him. There were side attractions, but it was never an issue.

”I never approached him with any revelation of any sort, as many believed he contacted me first and made his proposal known several months later.
The marriage was not an arranged one, as many have misconstrued. I never knew the prophetess said to have introduced me to him. Instead, he introduced her to me after I agreed to marry him. I was only being polite out of respect for him.

Single mother rejects Ooni Of Ife’s marriage proposal

A single mother of one, Laide Lanre-Badmus, popularly known as LLB, has publicly rejected the marriage proposal of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

The 41-year-old mother and the Ooni of Ife haveOoni of \ife  been romantically linked for some time now.

They were so smitten by each other that everyone in the palace and outside thought this would end up in marriage, however, she rejected his marriage proposal.

A close source revealed that she rejected the proposal because she can’t afford to share him with other women.

“Laide is a constant face in Ile Ife and there is no one in the palace who doesn’t know ‘Oloori Laide’. Yes, they call her Oloori in the palace and everyone thought Baba (Ooni) would marry her because he really loves her and she doesn’t joke with their affair,” a palace source exclusively revealed to Kemi Ashefon.

“But she refused. She didn’t want the mass wedding for two months to take place between September and October 2022. Not because she didn’t love him (she still does) but because she doesn’t want to share the love of her life with so many women.

Though it wasn’t Ooni’s intention to be polygamous, he couldn’t help it. He was instructed by the gods to marry many wives after Naomi left in December 2021 and he had to adhere to the instruction from the establishment.

“It’s really surprising that she would reject this proposal because they were very close and she was always with him. So many things are involved in this matter and it’s between LLB and the Ooni. They are still in love with each other anyways,” sources close to the couple said.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Laide is quite influential and connected to the corridors of power,

She was once married but walked out of the marriage due to domestic violence.

Born on July 10, 1981, Laide is a graduate of Politics and International Relations from Olabisi Onabanjo University. She is also armed with a diploma in Law from Leads City University.

“We all are witnesses to the outstanding performance of some Ministers, Commissioners, heads of companies and even countries across the globe.

“Our women here in this part of the world are as capable as their counterparts anywhere globally. The difference is the opportunities that we create for them to perform optimally,” the Ooni said.

“Like the whole world is aware of, we are not just doing a beauty contest. We are doing a contest of creative ideas, leadership abilities and productivity. We call on interested young ladies to apply via designated online platforms,” Olori Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi noted.

The outgoing QMA, Oluwabukunmi Grace Akinwale told pressmen who had sought her views on the annual cultural festival that carrying the Moremi torch of liberty is very symbolic as the torch was said to be the weapon that Moremi Ajasoro used to conquer the Ugbo people that threatened the peace of the ancient people in Ife several centuries ago.

This year’s Edi Festival rites climaxed at night yesterday when the Ooni led members of Ife Traditional Council and the entire gathering in a 500 meter procession to the Moremi Statue of Liberty with the torch of liberty, known as INA’SAN.
