Premier League side Arsenal eyes in-form Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

The Super Eagles star has become one of the most sought-after forwards in world football after 21 goals in 44 league appearances for Napoli.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is targeting a big striker signing this summer after the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nkeitah are also entering the final months of their respective contracts.

Gazzetta dello Sport – via Sport Witness – have reported that Osimhen is on Arsenal’s radar.

However, their pursuit of Osimhen will depend on whether they have enough to cash to meet Napoli’s asking price of £84million.

The north London club are currently in fourth on the Premier League and securing Champions League football could go a long way to signing Osimhen next summer.

Manchester United and Newcastle United have also been linked with the 23-year-old.

Premier League club Manchester United are not moving forward with their attempt to sign Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen.

The Red Devils are eager to sign a centre-forward in the summer, considering the situation involving Mason Greenwood and the likely departures of Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Osimhen is someone who is highly rated in Serie A, and is admired by United interim boss Ralf Rangnick, per the Daily Star.

However, Man Utd claims that Napoli informed United that Osimhen would cost around £100 million, which has ended the Red Devils’ interest.

They are likely to pursue other targets, as they do not believe the Nigerian merits such a transfer fee.

Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland, Inter Milan ace Lautaro Martinez and Tottenham Hotspur skipper Harry Kane have also been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Napoli coach praises Victor Osimhen after victory at Venezia

Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti was pleased with their 2-0 win at Venezia.

Victor Osimhen and Andrea Petagna struck for the visitors.

“This win gives us that superior awareness, we have the possibility to play good games, to always play to win. Today we brought home an important win on a difficult pitch,” said Spalletti, who was pleased to see Osimhen on the scoresheet.

“He has the quality, it’s us who have to improve in serving him, not dribbling all the time and not putting the defenders in a position to defend against his qualities.

“In the first half we played too much man to man and not enough in space, forcing him to have the entire opposing team around him.”

He added: “Either two defensive midfielders and a trequartista or two mezzali and a deep midfielder makes little difference. The important thing is that we are all more of a team. Then if you put a physical midfielder you lack quality up front.

“We didn’t play much with Demme, who is very good and builds play well. Lobotka has made important steps forward. He plays well and makes the team play well.”
