2020 prophecy: Tinubu will be betrayed; Buhari, Osinbajo will have issues – Primate Ayodele

As the year 2019 ends in a few days, Servant of God at INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Oke-Afa, Ejigbo Lagos, Primate Babatunde Elijah Ayodele (JP), has released another divine warning which will serve as a guideline for the entire universe come 2020.

He made this known during an annual feast with journalists recently.

Before releasing his prophesies for the New Year, he took pains to highlight are some of his 2019 prophesies that came to pass.

Highlights of fulfilled prophecies in 2019:

He prophesied the impeachment saga of US President Donald Trump.

The removal of Algeria President and the uprising in Iraq and the removal of the Prime Minister of Lebanon.

He said APC will win Ogun, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina and Lagos states, while PDP will triumph in Adamawa.

He prophesied Governor Kayode Fayemi’s victory in Ekiti State and Adegboyega Oyetola’s victory at the Supreme Court.

Also, he prophesied Alhaji Abubakar Atiku not winning the general election. He also talked about the killing of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and death of the powerful preacher Reinhard Bonnke. He prophesied about the coup in Sudan that removed Umar Bashir.

Primate Ayodele prophesied the fight between Godwin Obaseki and Adams Oshiomole; the victory of Governor Yaya Bello and how APC will capture Bayelsa State. Also, about Dino Melaye’s loss in the last Koji State election and also about Nigeria not lifting the Nations Cup and corruption in NFF.

Turning to next year, Primate Ayodele issued his prophecies on Nigeria, commenting on prominent citizens including President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, government agencies and the international community, among others.

He said: “Nigeria in the Diaspora will witness more troubles. I foresee incessant killings in the country as rioting will be on the increase. Nigeria in 2020 needs to pray very well because I foresee so many things happening in the country. The country will face serious economy challenges.

“I foresee that Budget 2020 will not deliver on the needs of the people. The country needs prayers for guidance and God’s divine protection. Government should look for ways of working things out.

“Let us pray against unexpected bomb explosion in Nigeria. The government should take steps to tackle the rising levels of crime. The prices of gas will increase as there will be new electric stove.

“There will be issues and clashes between Yoruba and Hausa, Igbo and Hausa.

“I foresee deportation of Nigerians in some countries and some Nigerians will be deported within Nigeria.”

Speaking further on his divine warnings, Primate Ayodele said: “Government will rise against churches and I also see the death of a popular man of God in Nigeria.”

The famous cleric, aptly named ‘the most accurate prophet in Nigeria’, in his divine message released to select journalists at his church premises, said: “APC will be unseated because it will collapse soon.”

According to the man of God a strong opposition party will emerge that will nail APC’s coffin.

“I see a new chairman emerging in both APC and PDP before the next general election.

“Tinubu will be betrayed. Osinbajo and Buhari will have problems as there will be moves to remove him from office even as I foresee the cabals working against Tinubu’s plan.

“Osinbajo must be prayerful because he will face counter challenges before the end of his tenure,” Ayodele declared.”

For USA prophesies, the Primate said: “Trump’s impeachment will not be realistic. Trump will make efforts to secure a second term but this will be difficult.

“If the Democrats want to win; they should work on states like Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania because Trump will not be so easy to unseat. Joe Biden will be the best candidate to unseat Trump.”

  • FIRS reacts to report of giving Osinbajo N90bn, N40bn for APC campaigns

The Federal Inland Revenue Services, FIRS, has reacted to a report widely published in the media yesterday that the agency supported Nigeria’s presidency with the sum of N40bn during the last concluded presidential report.

Recall that TheNewsGuru, TNG reproduced the report which was first published on PR Nigeria[Read here]

According to FIRS, the speculation was said to have been fueled by careless allegations raised by former spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Timi Frank.

The FIRS said that Frank accused it of supporting APC campaigns with the sum of N40bn and N90bn at different periods through Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.

The nations revenue service, however, described Frank’s allegation as “wicked, malicious and a calculated attempt” to smear its image and that of the Vice President.

In a statement signed by Head, Communications and Servicom Department, Wahab Gbadamosi, FIRS insisted that Frank’s allegation was a campaign of “calumny, vilifying, libellous, unfounded in fact, irresponsible and a brazen assault on the integrity of the Service.”

The statement reads: “First it was N90B, but now N40B. Which is which? It took a disgruntled politician to convey the fake news of N90B, now it is the services of an unquestioning PR newswire that is passing on the unsupported, baseless N40B bogus allegation. Whichever way whoever is behind this, a lie is a lie’’.

The FIRS in defence of itself said the last four years since Mr. Tunde Fowler has supervised operations at the FIRS, the agency had not received up to N100 billion, per annum, as Cost of Collection from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee, FAAC. FAAC is a public institution, whose records are open to the public.

“That it is from the remittances from FAAC—which had never grossed up to N100 billion, PER ANNUM, that FIRS pays the salary and emoluments and trains it’s over 8000 staff, runs over 150 offices and provides for other needs of the Service.

FIRS maintains that it was not possible for it to commit all its resources to a phantom campaign of N90 billion as suggested by Mr. Timi Frank given that it barely has enough for its operations.

“That FIRS is a creation of statute and its activities are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and financial regulations and thus, IT IS NOT PLAUSIBLE, that its funds could be expended in such a cavalier manner as suggested by Mr. Timi Frank.

“That FIRS Budget and expenditure approval processes pass through the Budget Office and the Ministry of Finance before such is presented to the National Assembly for Appropriation into Law. The National Assembly committees, consisting of all parties and inclinations exercise oversight function on all agencies of the Federal Government to ensure agencies keep to the letters of the Appropriation Act. Thus FIRS’ operations are subjected to Scrutiny and close monitoring by the National Assembly, the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee and the Ministry of Finance.

“It is therefore unthinkable, malicious and irresponsible for the said Frank to insinuate or infer that N90 billion or any part thereof could be spent illegally and without budgetary approval.

  • Fowler: FIRS ‘N40bn election campaign fund’ sparked new crisis in Nigeria’s presidency

Fowler: FIRS ‘N40bn election campaign fund’ sparked new crisis in Nigeria’s presidency

The Presidency (comprising of the office of the President and Vice President) is again battling an internal war over alleged misappropriation of N40 billion from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) under the immediate past Chairman, Mr Babatunde Fowler.

Recall that earlier this week Fowler who was appointed to superintendent Nigeria’s apex tax office was replaced on December 9, 2019, by a tax consultant, Muhammad M. Nami.

On Sunday, PRNigeria, relying on strong sources within the presidency, reported that the ‘misappropriated’ money, which was purportedly used for ‘political campaign funding’ for 2019 did not go down well with the seat of power which has ordered investigation and prosecution of culprits.

Officials are said to be angry and unsatisfied with Folwer’s explanations on how the fund was ‘shared,’ and have vowed to punish other collaborators, including a very powerful figure within the presidency.

Also connected to the N40 billion sharing bazaar is a political gladiator in the Southwest who was said to have received N3 billion which is less than 10 percent of the ‘campaign fund.’

Already, some top management staff of FIRS have been quietly arrested and are being interrogated on corruption allegations by anti-graft agencies.

A presidential source told PRNigeria: “Some senior FIRS staff, about nine of them who were arrested in connection with the money are being interrogated by an anti-corruption agency.

“Some are accused of being involved in a multi-billion naira fraudulent actions and contract awards. This is added to the extravagant lifestyle of these stooges and aides, poor governance structure, audit reports and general mismanagement at FIRS”.

Recall that the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, had on August 8, 2019 queried the former top man of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) for what the presidency called dwindling tax revenue since 2015 when the Buhari’s administration took the helm of governance.

Kyari ordered Fowler to explain why in 2015, FIRS set N4.7 trillion target but was only able to make N3.7 trillion in the actual collection. In 2016, 2017 and 2018, the target collections were N4.2 trillion, N4.8 trillion and N6.7 trillion but the actual collections were N3.3 trillion, N4.0 trillion and N5.3 trillion, respectively.

“You are kindly invited to submit a comprehensive variance analysis explaining the reasons for the variances between the budgeted collections and actual collections for each main tax item for each of the years 2015 to 2018,” Kyari demanded in the query.

Fowler, in his response, defended the performance of FIRS under him citing the fact that what was considered a fall in revenue was not as a result of misappropriated funds but a reflection of the state of the economy during the years under review.

However, President Muhammadu Buhari, in an apparent signal, fully backed his Chief of Staff’s actions against Fowler in his October 1, 2019 Independence Anniversary Speech.

Buhari said: “Our revenue-generating and reporting agencies will come under much greater scrutiny, going forward, as the new performance management framework will reward exceptional revenue performance, while severe consequences will attend failures to achieve agreed revenue targets.”

Also, more damaging to Fowler and his benefactors who are said to be on the brink of complete humiliation were the allegations by the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank.

Sources confirmed that the allegations, which are still being investigated, combined to stack up against Fowler whose fate was officially sealed by Buhari on December 9.

“Mind you that Fowler’s sack has not closed this chapter. Expect more casualties as more revelations are unravelled. More heads may roll including very top figures who are already roped in and cornered by the scandals,” the source said.

Also, the presidency was said to have been amazed by Fowler’s letter to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) seeking his tenure renewal.

The letter with reference number FIRS/EC/CWOSGF/0476/19/006, read in part: “I wish to present myself for re-appointment for a second term. This is consistent with provisions of the FIRS Establishment Act 2007 and would grant me the opportunity to consolidate and build on the achievements we have recorded in the past four years.

“Please find attached the highlight of my achievements during my first tenure in office. I would like to put on record my gratitude to Mr. President for the opportunity to serve the nation. I am also thankful for your support in the course of the discharge of my duties,” part of the letter read.

But the appeal for reappointment was immediately rejected because of the gravity of the allegations against Fowler. The letter was believed to have been leaked to embarrass Fowler.

The source further disclosed that not only were the allegations being taken seriously by the Presidency but there are “concerns on how to recover the money”.

“Recovering the embezzled money is of top priority and believe me those found culpable will eventually pay the price,” the source added.

  • Osinbajo lists Sowore’s rearrest, others as reasons for turning down Wole Soyinka Integrity award

The Office of the Vice President has made public the letter which Vice President Yemi Osinbajo wrote to Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Reporting, which planned to give him an Anti-corruption Defender Award of 2019.

The letter made available to newsmen on Monday in Abuja, indicated that the vice president gave two reasons he would not be able to attend the event held on Monday in Lagos.

Osinbajo said his first reason was that he would be in Abu Dhabi for an international meeting under the auspices of the government of the United Arab Emirates where he was the keynote speaker.

The vice president’s second reason was that he thought it insensitive to attend the ceremony in view of the recent developments on Friday in the Sowore case.

The vice president’s second reason was that he thought it insensitive to attend the ceremony in view of the recent developments on Friday in the Sowore case.

“I am extremely grateful for the recognition and award of the ‘Integrity Specialty of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism’s Anti-corruption Defender Award of 2019’ to me.

“The award, I note, is for our Justice reform efforts in Lagos State. I had accepted the award with pride on behalf of the excellent Justice Sector team we had.

“However, two reasons explain my absence. First is that I am currently in Abu Dhabi for an international meeting under the auspices of the government of the UAE where I am the keynote speaker.

“Second, in view of the developments on Friday in the Sowore case, I think it would be insensitive and inappropriate to attend the ceremony.

“Please accept my heartfelt apologies and extend the same to the other members of the organising team. God bless you,” the letter reads in part.

  • Hate Speech Bill: Wole Soyinka Centre suspends Integrity Award for Osinbajo

The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) has postponed the presentation of an Integrity Award to the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo amidst protests over the tightening of space for freedom of expression in the country.

Osinbajo was slated to be presented with the award as part of the 2019 Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting holding on Monday night in Lagos, which coincides with the World Anti-Corruption Day.

The plan to honour Osinbajo, however, generated protests as some Nigerians took to social media querying the timing of the award.

However, Executive Director/CEO of the Centre, Motunrayo Alaka, in a statement posted on the organization’s Twitter page @WSoyinkaCentre at 2:32 am on Monday announced the postponement of the award to Osinbajo.

She said the postponement was in response to the protest against what she called, “the repression of freedom of speech” by the present administration, citing the case of the convener of #RevolutionNow Movement and Sahara Reporters’ Publisher, Omoyele Sowore.

She wrote: “The postponement was decided on, to align with protests against the repression of #FreedomOfSpeech in recent times, especially the incidence between the Department of State Security (DSS) and @YeleSowore, Publisher of @SaharaReporters, on Friday 6 December.

“The Vice President @ProfOsinbajo himself shares this awareness and the inappropriateness of the award at this point.”

Meanwhile, Osinbajo is in Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates to deliver a speech at the 6th Assembly of the Forum for promoting Peace in Muslim Societies.

He already delivered a rousing speech on the role of religion in promoting tolerance.

  • Osinbajo to speak at UAE peace forum

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Sunday departed for the city of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

A statement on Sunday in Abuja by his media aide, Laolu Akande, said the Vice-President will today deliver the keynote address at the Sixth Assembly of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies in Abu Dhabi.

He will speak on the topic: The Role of Religions in Promoting Tolerance: From Possibility to Necessity.

Also today, Osinbajo will, at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi, meet with Sheik Mohammed Al Nayan, the Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Both leaders will discuss bilateral issues on how to continue to expand diplomatic and economic relationships between Nigeria and the UAE.

The Assembly of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies is an annual event organized by the government of the UAE.

“The Sixth Assembly will build upon the discussions and outputs of previous assemblies, as well as appreciation of the UAE’s decision to proclaim 2019 as the year of ‘tolerance’.

“The Sixth Assembly envisages an opportunity to initiate a civilised dialogue on the formulation of a new concept of tolerance; one that is humane and generous, and to transform a perspective that makes tolerance a religious imperative,” the UAE government said.

Osinbajo is expected back in Nigeria on December 9.

BREAKING: Osinbajo-led FEC orders payment of minimum wage latest Dec. 31

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has directed the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, to effect payment of the new minimum wage on or before 31st December, 2019.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige, at the end of FEC meeting chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa Abuja.

He also said FEC approved the minimum wage to take effect from 18 April 2019.

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, said FEC approved N1.7 billion for procurement and installation of communication equipment for airport towers in Zaria and Katsina.

The equipment, he said, is to ensure safety and efficiency at the airports.

He said the completion period for the contract is eight months.

Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, disclosed that the FEC approved the use of methanol in the Nigerian economy.

He said that methanol is derivable from gas that accompanies crude oil.

According to him, it has been profitable for oil companies to flare the gas, which has posed great environmental problems in the country.

He said FEC has approved methanol to be used as transportation fuel, cooking.

Stressing that it is cheap and safe, he said that it will also check deforestation in the country.

He said that the project cannot be achieved overnight as plants have to be built and other logistics put in place.

The minister said it will be private- sector driven.

The Minister of Communication said FEC approved change of the name of the ministry to be changed to Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy.

    Osinbajo presides over FEC meeting

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday presided over the Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buhari is in Sochi, Russia, attending a three-day Russia-Africa Summit holding from Oct. 23 to Oct. 25.

Osinbajo had on Sept. 25, presided over the FEC meeting when the President attended the 74th session of UN General Assembly in New York.

  • Why we can’t publish Buhari, Osinbajo’s assets -CCB

The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has told a Federal High Court in Lagos that it cannot make public details of assets declaration of all presidents and governors since 1999 without the owners’ consent.

The CCB told Justice Muslim Hassan that it was unlawful to do so without permission, because the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act (FoI) on the release of assets declaration forms conflict with the 1999 Constitution.

It said the officials had not consented to the disclosure of their assets declaration forms.

The bureau prayed the judge to turn down the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project’s (SERAP’s) application seeking the right to obtain such information.

The CCB stated this in its October 14 counter-affidavit opposing SERAP’s suit. It was filed on its behalf by its counsel, Musa Ibrahim Usman and Fatima Danjuma Ali.

Justice Hassan, on October 3, granted SERAP leave to file an application for an order to compel the bureau to release the assets declaration forms of current and past public officeholders.

But the CCB described the section of the FoI enabling the release of assets declaration forms as an “open confrontation with the constitution of Nigeria and therefore void”.

It said SERAP failed to show that it had sufficient legal interest in the matter.

A Senior Administrative Officer with the CCB, Ellis Adebayo, who deposed to the counter-affidavit to SERAP’s suit, said she was informed by the bureau’s lawyer, Musa Ibrahim, that the law did not permit the CCB to supply SERAP with the information in President Buhari and Vice-President Osinbajo’s assets declaration forms.

Adebayo said: “The assets declaration forms of the Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Senate President, Speakers of the House of Representatives, state governors and deputy governors since the return of democracy in 1999 to 2019 are in the custody of the CCB. But the public officials have not consented to the disclosure of their asset declarations forms. The CCB is not obligated to submit assets declaration forms to any person.”

“The forms are not publicly available. SERAP has not shown that it is in the public interest to disclose the information nor that such public interest overweighs the protection of the privacy of the Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Senate Presidents, Speakers of the House of Representatives, state governors and deputy governors since 1999 to 2019.”

“Asset declaration forms contain personal information about President and Ministers contain personal information about them and their properties, assets and liabilities and those of their wives/husbands and their children who are under the age of 18 years.

“The power of the CCB to refer suspects to the Code of Conduct Tribunal is discretionary and the courts are circumspect in granting mandamus in respect of discretionary powers and in the circumstances of the case SERAP has an alternative and effective legal remedy. This renders SERAP’s case incompetent.

“SERAP ought to have asked the CCB to investigate allegations of non-compliance with the Code of Conduct and where appropriate refer the matter to the Tribunal for prosecution.”

“Asset declaration forms are special documents that have been exempted by section 14 of the Freedom of Information Act. CCB can only make the forms available on the terms and conditions to be prescribed by the National Assembly. Those terms and conditions are yet to be prescribed.”

  • Osinbajo advocates state police, devolution of powers

Nigeria can become a stronger and more prosperous nation if states have more powers, according to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Mr Osinbajo stated this while speaking at the 59th Independence Anniversary Lecture at the Island Club, Lagos, on Friday.

The vice president, who titled his lecture “the whole is only as great as the sum of its parts,” said Nigeria’s population and diverse ethnic groups has necessitated that states in the country be strengthened to enable them contribute more to national productivity and development.

Mr Osinbajo stated that this can be achieved with “stronger, more autonomous States that are able to generate and control more of their resources.”

According to the vice president, the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is ensuring that states collaborate more with the Federal Government on different initiatives to improve visionary governance in the country.

“The most important transformative change we can make in Nigeria is to lift the majority of our people out of deprivation by speedily creating wealth and opportunity leading to the eradication of poverty,” he said.

He further said that “The nation cannot be wealthy when its component parts – the states – are poor. The standard of living of the federation depends on the standard of living of people who live in the states. In other words, the federation can only be as rich as its richest state and as strong as its strongest state. Our national indices merely aggregate the realities of our weaknesses and strengths as present in all our constituent units. Consequently, we can only build a stronger and more prosperous nation by building stronger and more prosperous states.”

He said, “Building stronger states means ensuring the devolution of more power to the states, enabling them to control more of their resources and make more of their own administrative decisions such as the creation of Local Governments, the establishment of state and community police forces as well as state correctional facilities; creation of special courts and tribunals of equivalent jurisdiction to high courts. The point I am making is that states must have more powers and more rights.”

The Vice President stated that, “The challenges confronting us now are about strengthening internal coherence and cohesion. It is about moving from affirmations of unity to the achievement of synergy in which the sum of our strengths exceeds the totality of our constituent parts.”

He noted that, “Opportunities for smart and visionary governance abound. So, for example, while states may not be able to right now establish their police forces, they can collaborate with the federal government on initiatives such as community policing which also revolves around the idea of localized law enforcement. Our administration is currently pursuing this option. When we set our minds to solving problems, we will find that what is truly possible is not as distant from the ideal that we seek.”

The vice president further noted that Nigerians, despite differences, must draw inspiration from its history of a common shared belief, in order to attain the quest for collective progress and continued unity.

He said, “In order to do so, we must draw inspiration from the deep wells of our history. The founding fathers of our republic – Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello. These three differed on many things but shared a clear belief in Nigeria’s boundless capacity as a united country. Regardless of their keen rivalry, they agreed on the crucial necessity of Nigeria staying united despite the many centrifugal pressures that buffeted the young nation. On this matter of unity, their differences were those of degree rather than category.

“Each of them occupied different niches on the spectrum of national integration but they all shared the view that the ideal situation was one in which a united and prosperous Nigeria took its rightful place in the world as the most populous black nation on Earth and as the foremost black power.

“From the foregoing, it is clear that the founding fathers were of one mind as far as Nigeria’s world-historic significance was concerned. They also recognized that her ability to fulfil her destiny was dependent on her continued unity.”

The vice president added that, “The point of this excursion into history is to show that strong sub nationals led by visionary leadership is what it takes to develop the Nation. What we require today is stronger, more autonomous States able to generate and control more of their resources and visionary leadership.”

Speaking during a Q&A session, Mr Osinbajo added that the Buhari administration will continue its fight against corruption.

“Two governors have been convicted for corruption, and they are in jail today. It took almost 10 years because our legal system is extremely slow, but we achieved it,” he said.

“The other thing I think we have to take note of is the fact that corruption fights back, and we also as citizens have to much more up and doing, because corruption fights back. They throw mud at everybody, give the impression that, “everybody is corrupt.”

“If we don’t control corruption, it’s the worst possible cancer that any nation can have, and as we can see from anything else, it just destroys a country by installments.”

Mr Osinbajo stated that he will continue to give his best in service to the country under the Buhari administration.

“I intend to do everything that is necessary, everything that I can to ensure that we achieve the promises that we made and to ensure that we achieve the kind of country that we want to achieve. And I will do that every day, every minute, for as long and God gives me life and opportunity,” he said.
