The 83-year-old clergyman during the church’s 73rd Annual Convention at Redemption City, Ogun State, themed “The Overcomers” disclosed that he will die on Sunday after attending church service and enjoying his favourite meal, pounded yam.

Drawing on the biblical example of the Israelites, who had to fight to take possession of the Promised Land, he said: “In many cases, you may have to fight for things that are already yours.

I almost got into trouble over my comments about Nigeria – Pastor Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor E.A Adeboye, has disclosed how he almost faced challenges with certain powerful individuals after he made some comments about Nigeria.

The clergyman stated during the ongoing annual Holy Ghost Congress at the Redemption City, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

He said: “I said something during the Abuja Holy Ghost Service which I am not going to repeat because I nearly got into trouble because of telling the truth.

“Certain things happened, at least in my nation Nigeria, that force you to wonder: Are we under a curse? There are nations that didn’t have all the resources we have, and yet, they seem to be doing better than we are doing. Hmmmm, let me leave that out.”

Adeboye further called  on Nigerians to pray for divine intervention against efforts by powerful cabals who are allegedly working to block the success of private refineries in Nigeria.

He expressed frustration over the billions of naira spent on repairing the nation’s four government-owned refineries, which still fail to function optimally.

Dangote Refinery : God’s divine intervention made it possible– Pastor Adeboye

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has revealed that it was divine inspiration that led Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote to establish the Dangote Refinery in Nigeria.

Adeboye revealed this during the November 2024 Abuja Special Holy Ghost Service, Adeboye praised Dangote’s initiative, emphasizing that it was a response to Nigeria’s ongoing struggles with inefficient state-owned refineries.

Adeboye pointed out that despite Nigeria’s status as a major oil producer, the country had been unable to properly refine its crude oil, leading to a heavy dependence on fuel imports.

He expressed his frustration over the continual failure of the government-run refineries, which have consumed billions in funds without delivering results.

In contrast, Dangote, despite not being from Adeboye’s community or even a Christian, took the bold step to build a refinery with the aim of alleviating the suffering of Nigerians.

However, Adeboye also raised concerns about a conspiracy involving oil marketers and international oil companies (IOCs), which he claimed are working to undermine Dangote’s refinery.

According to Adeboye, these parties are trying to prevent the Dangote Refinery from operating at full capacity, opting instead to keep Nigeria reliant on fuel imports.

He urged Nigerians to seek divine intervention to overcome these challenges, calling out the unscrupulous actions of some oil marketers who aim to continue profiting from fuel imports.

In a related development, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) recently reached an agreement to buy fuel directly from Dangote Refinery.

However, despite this agreement, Nigerians are still facing high petrol prices, with some retail outlets selling fuel at ₦1060 and ₦1200 per liter.

Still on tithing: Pastor Adeboye gives reasons why Jesus, his apostles did not collect tithes

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has has given plausible reasowhy Jesus Christ did not collect tithes during His ministry on earth.

Speaking during the church’s October Holy Ghost Service on Saturday at the Redemption City, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State, Adeboye clarified this in response to an unnamed RCCG pastor who preached against tithing, citing that Jesus never collected tithes.

Adeboye’s comments came shortly after he apologised for previously stating that those who don’t pay tithes may not make it to heaven, also suggesting that 10% tithing is for beginners.

The pastor said, “One of my pastors went online and preached a sermon on why people should not pay tithes. I watched the sermon, thinking I would learn something profound.

“He said we shouldn’t pay tithes because Jesus didn’t collect tithes. I said, ah, Jesus was not a parish pastor, He was a world evangelist.”

He added that he was, however, disappointed because it was a repetition of what others had been saying.

Forgive me for saying so, but it was a very shallow sermon,” he added.

In addressing the claim that Jesus did not collect tithes, Adeboye said, “Jesus was not a parish pastor; He was a world evangelist.

“The Bible in Luke 8:1-3 tells us that certain women, including Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Susanna, supported His ministry financially.”

He further emphasised that the apostles did not collect tithes for the same reason because they were not parish pastors.

Pastor Adeboye narrates how he was duped by a man promising commandant role

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has narrated a painful experience on how he was deceived by someone who promised to offer him a prestigious position in a paramilitary agency.

According to the clergyman via the microblogging platform, X formerly Twitter on Monday, his ambition to become a group head led to a significant personal loss.

He said the man, had posed as a recruiter for a new agency, and had convinced him to invest in the venture.

Describing his decision to trust the man, Adeboye noted that his desire to fulfil this role led him to act prematurely which made him regrett heavily

He narrated, “Years ago, I was duped by a man who promised to make me a commandant of a paramilitary group. This man had been sending messages to me through my secretary for a while, and so, one day, I gave him an audience. He explained to me how a Boy-Scouts-like group had evolved into this new agency, and that he was sourcing for who would lead the group spiritually.

“Normally, I ask God before getting involved in anything at all, but this time, my love for the military in my younger days beclouded my best instincts, and I agreed to be their head. He told me that they needed some funding, which I gave as the prospective head. However, I later found out that the man was a fake.”

He, however, noted that the experience birthed the Redemption City corps and a local police post.

“My desire to be part of a paramilitary group made me run ahead of God, but God had already purposed for Redemption City to have its own corps of chaplains as well as a local Police post. He knew the desire of my heart, and He had planned for it to be fulfilled in His own time. I thought that I could bring my desire to fulfilment in my own time, but I was wrong. What I lost in that experience was money, but for someone else, it might have been their life or a loved one.
