Pastor Bakare visits President Tinubu weeks after condemning his administration

Pastor Tunde Bakare, the presiding overseer of the Global Community Citadel Church, on Wednesday, paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos residence.

At the time of filing this report, the details of the visit were yet to be made public.

TheNewsGuru, however, reports the visit comes barely two months after the outspoken clergyman warned that Nigeria is spiralling into tyranny and suffering from a brazen abuse of power under the administration of President Tinubu.

Speaking during his state of the nation address marking the Easter celebrations in April, Pastor Bakare expressed his deep concern over the direction of the country under the current administration.

He highlighted the apparent erosion of democracy, particularly criticizing the collapse of the legislature, which he called a “bastion of democracy” that is now failing under the President’s leadership.

Bakare also pointed to the state of emergency declared in Rivers State by President Tinubu as a clear example of what he termed a “theater of the absurd.”

He slammed both the President’s actions and the National Assembly, which he accused of endorsing the measure. According to Bakare, the National Assembly has become the “most spineless” in Nigeria’s history, allowing for the President’s actions to go unchecked.

“Under your watch, Mr. President, the legislature has become a mere rubber stamp, endorsing every action you take without scrutiny,” Bakare said, referring to the passive role the National Assembly has played in the current political landscape.

2023 Elections: Pastor Tunde Bakare is unstable, inconsistent – Ajiboye

The Assistant Director of Publicity of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, has described the pastor of the Citadel Global Community Church, Tunde Bakare as being an unstable and inconsistent person.

Ajiboye has  advised Pastor Tunde Bakare to stay off Politics and stick to his pastoral duties because he’s very deceitful.

Pastor Bakare, a former APC presidential aspirant, had urged Nigerians to vote out politicians who see the presidency as their entitlement.

Referring to the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu’s comment, ’emi lokan’, which means ‘it’s my turn’, Bakare said it is the turn of frustrated Nigerians.

Responding, Otunba Ajiboye said Bakare should stop arrogating the position of Aristotle of politics to himself.

In a statement he signed, Ajiboye likened Bakare to an “ordinary man on the street without any political clout.”

According to Ajibola, Bakare’s loss at the APC primaries showed that he has “zero personality, zero popularity and zero leadership.”

“This is the same man who deceitfully told the world as if God spoke to him that he was going to be the next President after Buhari, then went into the primaries of the party he belonged to, and nobody could vote for him.

“At some point, he spoke so well about Asiwaju, at another point he will speak against Asiwaju. At some point, he spoke so well about Buhari, when he’s seeing that Buhari is not doing his bidding, he speaks against Buhari. The man is such an inconsistently unstable person, let him just face his business as a clergyman that he’s called to do rather than meddle in politics,” he said.

How Adeboye wife’s call almost made me collapse- Bakare

Founder of Citadel Global Community Church (formerly known as Latter Rain Assembly), Pastor Tunde Bakare, has explained how a call from Mrs Foluke Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, almost made him collapse.

Bakare pointed out that he was in London when he had the call with Mrs Adeboye who wanted to inquire about his health after watching a sermon of his on television.

He shared the story while addressing his followers at a Gathering of Sons and Daughters in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, on Sunday.

The three-day event, organised by the CGCC Diaspora Family Fellowship, was themed, ‘Global Mission and Globalisation: Avenues for expressing the dominion mandate.’

“I remember that I was on a London highway one day when Mrs Adeboye called. She had sent a text and I think she also made phone calls but I didn’t know who (it was),” he said.

The clergyman said the message was signed with the initials, ‘MGO,’ a short form for Mummy GO as she is fondly called by the RCCG congregation.

On Adeboye wife’s call, Bakare asserted that he placed a phone call and said “good afternoon, I got a text from this number”.

She said, “Haa, don’t you know me again?”

I said, “Who is speaking?” and she mentioned her name. My mouth is too small to call her by name.

“I almost collapsed. I said, ‘ma, I didn’t know it was you.’ She said, ‘Well, we were watching television and I saw you using a walking stick; I want to know that you are well.’ I said it was illustrated sermon.

“So, you can see that they care about me and I do care about them.”

TheNewsGuru.com recalls that Bakare had intended to be Nigeria’s 16th President.

He declared interest in the 2023 presidential race and contested under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He failed to secure a single vote at the primaries of the party.

Bakare declared his interest at the ‘Unveiling Project 16 to Nigerians in diaspora’ event tagged “The portrait is a new Nigeria” held virtually.

The clergy described the past administrations as “cake eaters” adding that it was time to have the 16th administration of “cake bakers.”

The Ogun State indigene was President Muhammadu Buhari’s running mate in 2011 when the latter ran unsuccessfully in that year’s presidential poll.

He warned that ahead of the 2023 general elections, “the Christians [are] against Muslims, the north against the south, the south-west against the south-east and the southeast against the north.”

“This situation calls for a certain kind of leader,” he said.

  • Bakare wishes Tinubu best in 2023, says new Nigeria possible

The Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, on Sunday wished APC Presidential Candidate, Sen. Bola Tinubu the best in the 2023 general elections, saying that a new Nigeria was possible.

Bakare, one of the contestants for the APC presidential ticket at the party’s primaries on June 8, made the remarks while addressing his congregation and supporters on the APC primary during the church’s Sunday Worship in Lagos.

In his address titled “A New Nigeria is Still Possible”, Bakare said he remained committed to such new Nigeria that would work for all and sundry.

“I congratulate the winner of the APC presidential primaries, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his victory.

“His emergence as the flagbearer and presidential candidate of the APC is a testament to his significant contributions to the course of the South West as well as his labour towards the formation and establishment of the APC as I have said in times past.

” I, therefore, extend best wishes to him as he proceeds on the campaign trail towards the 2023 general elections,” the cleric said.

Bakare said that since the conclusion of the APC Primaries in Abuja on June 7 and June 8, he had received “an almost endless stream of visitors” and shared various impressions, but yet to make any official public statements.

“As the main constituency and core group I am accountable to, I deem it appropriate to share a few thoughts with you first,” he told the congregation.

On his involvement in politics, Bakare said it was antithetical that some parents wanted their children to grow up to be President but did not want them to become politicians in the process.

The overseer said that he had a lifelong commitment to serving his nation, Nigeria.

Bakare said that he remained convinced now more than ever that the quest to serve his beloved nation, Nigeria, had been a worthy adventure for a worthy cause.

According to him, as a presidential aspirant at the APC’s Special Convention, it had been a great honour for him to be the standard-bearer of the message of a New Nigeria; a Nigeria that works for every Nigerian.

He thanked his supporters across the nation and in the Diaspora for their unalloyed support despite the challenges leading up to the primaries.

Bakare said: “Our heads remain unbowed because we did not compromise on the values that are integral to building a New Nigeria.

“For us, the means has always been as important as the end. This is why we confidently wear our “zero votes” as a badge of “zero tolerance for a certain kind of politics”.

The cleric said that his confidence was rooted in the Biblical reference in Dan 4:17 that Holy God rules human kingdoms and can raise leaders out of losers.

According to him, since he will ultimately give account to God, he will continually trust Him despite what may today appear to be a setback.

The presidential aspirant said: “There is still a cause and there is still a nation to transform.

“This is not the work of just one man or woman or just one party, but the calling upon every Nigerian worthy of the name.

“It is my earnest prayer that the good Lord will bless Nigeria with leaders not in love with money but in love with justice.”

He prayed that God would bless Nigeria with leaders not in love with publicity but in love with humanity.

Bakare prayed that God should bless Nigeria with leaders who can subject their particular egos to the pressing urgencies of the great cause of freedom.

“May we all find it within ourselves to become these leaders no matter the temptation to be less than.

“This is the moment where those leaders must begin to revive the dreams of our founding patriots; the dreams of a Nigeria strong and united though tribes and tongues may differ.

“The dreams of a Nigeria where no one is oppressed, no matter which part of the country they come from and live in, and no matter how they choose to worship God.

According to the cleric, Nigeria has a seat at the table of nationhood, especially an ideal Nigeria where peace and justice reign.

He said that the moment had come when Nigerians should begin “to build a bridge between the dreams of our past, the realities of our present and the visions of our future towards a New Nigeria.

“A Nigeria where every man or woman, and every boy or girl, can live up to his or her full potential, and be all that they were created to be.

“I remain audaciously confident that a New Nigeria is possible and that, upon the foundational values of integrity and incorruptibility.

“Nigeria will, no doubt, become a cutting-edge nation; a nation that will, one day, be the peace, progress, prosperity and possibilities capital of the world.

“I remain committed to working towards this cause in the days ahead in whatsoever capacity God and the good people of Nigeria so choose, ” the cleric said.

Bakare prayed for those who had suffered with him and followed him before, now, and future that they would not lose their reward, but live to enjoy good governance in the new Nigeria.

Newsmen recall that Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, defeated 13 other aspirants, including Bakare, who polled zero vote, to clinch the party’s ticket for the 2023 presidential election.

  • Pastor Tunde Bakare disgraced, as delegates shun voting for him

As more than 2,300 delegates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Wednesday gather at Eagle Square, Abuja, to select their presidential candidate, one of the presidential aspirants, Pastor Tunde Bakare, could not secure a single vote.

Bakare, who is a Nigerian Prophetic-Apostolic pastor, had vowed to transform Nigeria if elected as the next Nigerian President.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Bakare had a “zero” vote, alongside the former governor of Imo State, Rocha Okorocha and Ikeobasi Mokelu.

However, his bid, having been quashed by the party’s delegates, would have to return to pastoring the Latter Rain Assembly, which later metamorphosed to Global Citadel Community Church (CGCC).

On stepping down for another presidential aspirant, Bakare had strongly maintained that he would not let go of his political ambition.

According to Bakare, rather than stepping down for another presidential aspirant, he would step up.

Okorocha attacks pastor Tunde Bakare, says preaching unwarranted

A senator representing Imo west senatorial district and former governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha has responded to ”uncomplimentary” remarks made by General Overseer of Citadel Global Community Church, formerly known as Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare who said the igbos are under a curse and that’s why they cannot rule the country.

In his response, Okorocha posited that the Igbos are not cursed but are a an asset to the country at large.

Okorocha made this statement on at his Unity House Campaign office in Abuja, when he was visited by the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Dayo Israel.

Recall that Pastor Tunde Bakare had in a video said that the Igbos are under a curse and he would remove the curse placed on them.

He said : “Why should anyone in this country say the Igbo man cannot be president of Nigeria? I was at Imo State and I told them the reason why the Igbo cannot rule Nigeria and I want to remove the curse today.”

Meanwhile senator Okorocha responded by saying : “When I listened to Bakare mention that the Igbos are cursed in the cause of his preaching, I think that is an overstatement and unwarranted preaching.

“I must state here categorically that Igbos are not cursed and they will never be cursed.”

Okorocha admitted that although Igbos may not be good politicians, they “are a great asset to this country. They are not the problem”.

Pastor Bakare urges youths not to give up on politics

The Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has urged youths in the country not to be discouraged from the political stage despite the “moneybags and bullion van politicians”.

Bakare, who was the vice-presidential candidate to the current president, Muhammadu Buhari, decried the refusal of old Nigerians to leave the political stage for the youths.

According to him, the “moneybags and bullion van politicians” want to be in power without considering the younger ones.

He described as a shame, the attitude of older Nigerian politicians, who he said have refused to give the youth a chance in leadership positions.

The Pastor spoke on Saturday at the launch of an autobiography, “Footsteps of a Rebel’, written by the Babanla Adinni of Egbaland, Chief Tayo Sowunmi, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, to mark his 80th birthday.

It is a shame that while younger generations are taking over leadership in other countries, older generation refuses to leave the stage in Nigeria

While delivering a speech tagged ‘Worthy Nation Building Legacies By The Older Generation of Nigerians’, Bakare called for inter-generational re-integration between older and younger generations.

Bakare opined that it is part of efforts to rebuild the Nigerian nation.

He maintained that “It is a shame that while younger generations are taking over leadership in other countries, older generation refuses to leave the stage in Nigeria.”

The Pastor condemned the alleged sidestepping of the youth, saying this has hampered the development of Nigeria.

“The nation’s development has suffered because of the marginalization of the youth and the progressives who abandoned politics,” Bakare said.

While calling for generational reintegration from the households, the Ogun indigene called for the embracing of cultural values to foster nation-building.

He also suggested mentoring and leadership development for the younger generation.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday received in audience the founder of the Citadel Global Community Church (formerly Latter Rain Assembly), Pastor Tunde Bakare, behind closed doors at the statehouse, Abuja.

While details of the meeting remain unclear, it may not be unconnected to the Pastor’s recent calls for more unity in the country.

Last Sunday, he had urged President Muhammadu Buhari to do away with the 1999 Constitution, saying it is a great inhibitor of the nation’s progress.

He made the call on Sunday during a state of the nation address which he titled: ‘The black box of Nigeria’s politics’.

He said, “Mr Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” Mr. Gorbachev eventually did, and Germany is better off for it today.

“In the same spirit, I say to President Muhammadu Buhari: Mr President, stop passing the buck to the National Assembly. Tear down this inhibiting concoction of a constitution; tear it down so we can build a truly great nation”.

During the same church service, Pastor Bakare announced the launch of the Nigeria for Nigerians (N4N) movement.

According to him, the movement became imperative because it is time for Nigerians to take the reins and direct their nation’s destiny.

He was a running mate of the Buhari under the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in 2011.

  • Buhari, APC have shortchanged Nigerians – Tunde Bakare

Buhari, APC have shortchanged Nigerians – Tunde Bakare

The Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, formerly known as Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, on Tuesday declared President Muhammadu Buhari has disappointed Nigerians with his handling of the nation’s affairs.

He said the expectations of Nigerians have not been met by the current administration.

Bakare spoke during a monitored virtual interview by Dele Momodu.

The cleric said there is a general feeling of disappointment among Nigerians who expected change.

He bemoaned the lack of leadership, especially with the rising cases of kidnappings and killings, causing non-state actors to take law into their hands.

According to Bakare: “We are praying hard that the county will survive and become strong again, this is not what we all call the Nigeria of our dreams

“Nigeria will survive and will become the Nigeria of our dreams but right now, things are not together, especially with the drum of disintegration which is louder than before.

“Nigeria is better together, if we go back together to the basics of how we came together, looking at 1960 and 1963, we can still be together. We are not there yet, but we are getting closer.”

He added: “The truth of the matter is it is still the same Buhari, in the midst of many competing interests, we respond differently. The President is still himself, some have even asked me if he is not somebody else.

“Power changes people, has power changed him or is he making the best situation of the circumstances? He will be the one to answer it

“The expectations of Nigerians, including everyone who woke up to say we need a breath of fresh air, has not been met. There is a feeling of disappointment.

“Citizens have right to demand for good governance. People deserve the government they get.”

Citing a biblical illustration, he said: “We rejected PDP and embraced APC’s change but it appears we have been shortchanged.”
