Jaiye Kuti reacts to rumoured affair with Pasuma

Veteran actress, Jaiye Kuti has opened up on her rumoured affair with Fuji artiste, Pasuma. The role interpreter said she was shocked when she heard the viral rumour that she was married to popular fuji artiste, Wasiu Alabi, aka Pasuma.

Kuti made this known as a guest at Inspire Nigeria Summit, a virtual summit held to motivate young Nigerians.

On how she reacts to rumours being spread about her, the actress said, “There was a time I shot a movie with Pasuma. We had a wedding (in the movie) and the pictures were out there. The next thing I saw in the press was that ‘Jaiye Kuti marries Pasuma’. People did not even go to the body of the story to read what was actually there. They just saw the headline and concluded that I had really married Pasuma. When one wants to be great in life, people would say bad things about one. People could say things that could kill one instantly. The beauty of it is that one has one’s legs and one can keep going.

“People that are spreading rumours about one won’t grow. I have heard shocking stories about me. Some people said I gave birth to Mayowa and Temitope Kuti and their father was Pasuma. I don’t have the time to start explaining to everybody that we were only making a movie. I don’t explain things to people. When they greet me, they tell me to extend greetings to Pasuma, and I tell them that I will. When last did I see Pasuma? He was paid to work and he left. Rumours are part of what we live on. It is part of what makes us what we are. One has to be strong to take it. It is like an arrow shot at one. One should not let it kill one; rather, one has to keep going.”

Nigerian Fuji artiste, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma was booed and chased from protest venue at Alausa Ikeja on Sunday.

According to reports, Pasuma was suspected of having connections with Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya a.k.a MC Oluomo, who is being allegedly sponsored by Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

In the video which surfaced online, the protesters were seen dragging him out of the gathering.

TheNewsGuru recalls that #EndSARS protesters at the Lagos State House of Assembly rejected food and soft drinks donated MC Oluomo.

The protesting youths rejected the food in reaction to the attacks unleashed on them by thugs at the Alausa area of the state.

The youths accused MC Oluomo of sending the hoodlums to attack and disrupt their peaceful protests, but his spokesperson, Jimoh Buhari denied the allegation.

Responding to the allegation on Thursday, Buhari said, “We have no hand in the attacks. People should stop accusing us wrongly. Were the thugs wearing NURTW uniforms? Is MC Oluomo holding a political office? He has no hand in the case.”

I was arrested when a fan was killed at my show- Pasuma

Veteran Fuji musician, Wasiu Pasuma Wonder fondly called Oganla has opened up on some of the travails he experienced before stardom.

The acclaimed Fuji maestro made this revelation during a recent instagram live with Nigerian rapper and media personality, Bouqui.

In his words: “The obstacles I faced can make you decide to quit. People tagged me a tout, they said it’s the street urchins hat comes to my shows. People said miscreants are the people you would meet when you attend Pasuma’s show. I decided not to do Fuji any more. However, because God wants to use me, I changed my mind. I decided not to stop.

“There was a time they had a fight in one of my shows and I was locked up for two months. Someone was killed at my show and I was the one performing. They took us to the Police station. Unfortunately the brother of the deceased was a lawyer and he vowed to take the case far. I told him his brother came to the show and they started fighting, unfortunately he lost his life in the process. The brother of the deceased told me to supply the people who killed his brother. I was locked up for what I knew nothing about all because I decided to do Fuji music. I didn’t stop doing Fuji music despite what I went through”.

Pasuma also said his visa application was rejected on countless occasions before he finally travelled to the UK

“1999 was my first time to travel abroad in London. I actually went to the embassy in 1996 and 1997 and I was denied. In 1998, my promoter had to take the case to the court and he won. During the interview, the interviewer told me they would give only me the visa and leave out my band boys, saying even Micheal Jackson performs alone”.
