    ‘Sister of popular Nigerian singer, Patoranking killed in tragic explosion’

    The sister of popular Nigerian Afrobeats artist Patoranking, Chioma Obasi has reportedly lost her life in a tragic explosion at her home on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

    According to media personality Cutie Juls through an Instagram post on Thursday, the devastating incident took the singer sister’s life instantly, while her husband, George Obasi, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.

    Cutie Juls in a post made on her Instagram page shared a video of the aftermath, revealing that the couple had celebrated both a housewarming and their child’s birthday when the explosion occurred.

    The media personality further urged the public to support him during this hard time, shortly after noting how deeply Patoranking loved his sister.

    Cutie Juls wrote, “Remember when I posted last week or so that his (Patoranking) sister passed away in a gas explosion incident in their home and the husband and child are battling for their lives in the hospital?

    “The husband also couldn’t make it. He just passed away. Pathoranking tried so much. Buying tones of blood to help save his brother-in-law’s life so at least his nephew won’t be an orphan.

    “Remember he loves his sister so much. Abeg, his friends should help check on him.

    Patoranking at the time of this report, is yet to any public statements regarding the incident.

    I hawked on the streets of Lagos – Patoranking opens up on tough times

    Nigerian reggae dancehall singer, Patoranking has opened up about rough and tough times before gaining stardom.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the singer opened up while accepting to be the UNDP Goodwill Africa Ambassador for Youth Innovation, Enterprise and the SDGs at the launch of the Timbuktoo Fintech Hub in Lagos by the United Nations Development Programme.

    The Afrobeat artiste, who grew up in Ebute Metta, Lagos went down memory lane recalling how he hawked on the streets of Lagos with his father to make ends meet.

    Patoranking said despite the challenges he remained focused and defied all odds to achieve his goals.

    He said, “I hawked on the streets of Lagos with my father. Many years ago, I used to sell on this street [Kings Way road]. It used to be a very hot spot for trading. Many years after, everything that I pictured I wanted to become, the man I wanted to become is who I am now. So when I was driving down to this place it was a little bit teary moment for me because I saw myself [on this road].”

    Speaking further, Patoranking urged the youths to harness their talents in developing their communities and Africa at large.

    He added, “That is why I have songs with artistes from Uganda, Kenya, Ghana and so on. I accept to be the UNDP Goodwill Africa Ambassador for Youth Innovation, Enterprise and the SDGs. Today I am not just an artiste, I am a voice for many African youths who desire to make Africa work for themselves and their communities.”

    Popular Nigerian artist, Patrick Okorie, aka Patoranking, has left several of his fans emotional after he reunited with his mother in Qatar after five years.

    The reggae-dancehall singer, who was among the top music stars billed to perform at the World Cup, was welcomed by citizens of the country as well as his mother whom he claimed he has not seen for five years.

    On his Instagram account, the singer captioned the video: “Landed Qatar to warm reception and a big Surprise, Haven’t seen my mom in 5 years, she came to surprise me at the airport. They got me on this one see my face at the end…”

    Patoranking, is one of the most prominent Nigerian artists. He is known for his reggae-dancehall style of music.

    The singer came to the limelight in 2010 after collaborating with Timaya on his song “Alubarika”.

    In February 2014, he signed a record deal with Foston Musik and released “Girlie O”, a single that gave him more recognition.

    Patoranking started his music career doing underground collaborations, with artists such as XProject, Konga, Slam and Reggie Rockstone.

    He signed a record deal with K-Solo’s Igberaga Records in 2010, releasing “Up in D Club” under the outfit. Patoranking became a protégé of Dem Mama Records after collaborating with Timaya on his song “Alubarika”.

    In February 2014, he signed a record deal with Foston Musik and released “Girlie O”, a single that put him in the limelight. On 9 February 2015, Patoranking announced on Instagram that he signed a distribution deal with VP Records.

    On September 28, 2015, Patoranking released a song titled Abule which he released ahead of his album scheduled to be released later in 2020. He once said in 2020 that he once got inspiration from a song on a football pitch while playing football.

    Patoranking was born and raised in Ijegun-Egba Satellite Town but has family roots in OnichaEbonyi State.

    Patoranking, Kizz Daniel, Ckay set for 2022 Qatar World Cup performances

    Reggae-dancehall singer, Patrick Okorie, aka Patoranking, is scheduled to perform for the 2022 Qatar World Cup, at the Al Bidda Park, in the country’s capital, Doha, on November 28, 2022.

    The ‘Girlie O’ crooner has undoubtedly carved a niche for himself with his style of music.

    Born and raised in Ijegun-Egba, Lagos State, he started his entertainment career as a dancer.

    The singer also seems to be an ardent lover of football. As a matter of fact, he stated that he got the inspiration for one of his songs, ‘Abule’, while playing football.

    Another singer rocking the music scene, Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, aka Kizz Daniel, will perform at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

    For Daniel, this is a dream come true, as the ‘Cough’ singer had taken to his Twitter page months earlier to say that he wished to perform his hit song, ‘Buga’ at the tournament. He wrote on June 22, “God, I want to perform ‘Buga’ for (sic) the World Cup with a mass choir. Help me say ‘amen’.” Few months later, he is set to perform at the opening ceremony of the games.

    Chukwuka Ifeanyi, better known as Ckay, will join his Nigerian counterparts to perform at the tournament too.

    In an interview, the singer stated that he was excited to be one of the artists that would be performing at the World Cup.

    He had said, “Even though we (Nigeria) did not qualify for the World Cup; at least, there is still Nigeria representation in the area of music.”

    Recall that Ckay’s 2019 song, ‘Love Nwantiti’ enjoyed global acceptance.

    Though he was not listed among the artists that would perform at the World Cup, popular singer, David Adeleke, aka Davido, was featured on the theme song for the competition.

    He joined Latin-American singer, Trinidad Cardonna; and Qatari singer, Aisha, to record the song titled, ‘Hayya Hayya’ (Better Together).

    2022 World Cup: Nigeria’s Patoranking booked to thrill fans in Qatar

    Nigeria’s raggae artiste, Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, popularly known as Patoranking, has been penciled down among the artistes that will entertain fans at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

    According to information on FIFA’s website, Patoranking  will mount the stage on November 28 in Qatar.

    The Abule crooner  will perform at the Mundial alongside  DJ Aseel, Gims, Miami Band, Julian Marley and The Uprising, Myrath, Hassan Shakosh, and clean bandit.

    It would be recalled that multiple award-winning singer Davido was featured on the official World Cup soundtrack, alongside American star Trinidad Cardona and Qatari sensation Aisha.

    Already, Davido and Kizz Daniel are among Nigerian artistes  that have been penciled down to thrill fans at the mundial.

    The 2022 FIFA World Cup will run from November 20 to December 18 in eight venues across five cities in Qatar.

    Nigerian reggae-dancehall singer, Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, aka Patoranking, has come under fire after photo with a millionaire kidnapper, John Ikechuwkwu Ewa, alias John Lyon. surfaced.

    It would be recalled that the Bayelsa State Police Command on Monday paraded the suspected kidnap kingpin.

    He was paraded alongside three other members of his kidnapping gang at the Police Officers’ Mess in Yenagoa.

    Lyon was apprehended by a crack team of detectives from the command who tracked him to Abuja.

    In a viral video when he was caught, he cried openly that he had a wife who recently put to bed.

    Prior to his arrest, the former banker was also seen in a photograph with security personnel and in a church setting praying.

    Reacting to the singer’s photo with Lyon, fans of Patoranking appreciated God on his behalf for not being one of Lion’s victims.

    Following his arrest, multiple photos of the kidnapper from his normal life surfaced; one of which included an intense worship session in church.

    He tweeted; “For those of you who go to church to look for “God Fearing Man”, be aware that the church is just like the hospital.-Not everyone is responding to treatment. Crying during worship doesn’t make someone holy. This is Lyon the Kidnapper who tortures, maims and kills Nigerians.”

    While it may turn out to be another music video scene, popular Nigeria music stars, Patoranking and Yemi Alade are keeping their fans guessing about what they could be up to in a new set of pictures released on their social media platforms.

    The duo have been trending on social media following the viral pictures of what looked like a traditional wedding ceremony.

    In the pictures, Patoranking was clad in a brown native attire while Alade wore a flowing brown dress as they both beamed with delight looking into each other’s eyes like a newly-wedded couple.

    Patoranking opens up on biggest career risk

    Abule crooner, Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie better known as Patoranking has opened up on his biggest career risk.

    The award winning singer said is biggest career risk is financial, adding that more than half of what he makes goes right back into his brand.

    Speaking in a chat with The Nation, he said: “My biggest career risk is mostly financial. I invested in myself and my music. More than half of what I make goes right back into Patoranking”.

    On how fatherhood has changed him, he said: ”Definitely, positive. If I was good before, I became better and am still aiming for the best version of me. Fatherhood makes me strive for such”.

    Patoranking also noted that poverty is the inability to be able to give so little as a smile and happiness to someone else.

    “The inability to inwardly produce, provide or give so little as a smile, happiness to someone else. Poverty is deeper than absence of finances”.

    Shedding light on his plans for 2021, he said: I have a lot but you know I like the element of surprise. One thing for sure, though, is that the ‘Patoranking Experience 2’ will be happening in February 2021 with respect to the COVID-19 protocols obviously”.

    Reminisce gave me an opportunity when nobody knew me – Patoranking

    Dancehall singer, Patoranking on Wednesday acknowledged rapper Reminisce for giving him an opportunity in 2012 when he was a rookie.

    The 30-year-old posted to Twitter a picture of Reminisce’s 2012 album Book of Rap Stories, saying he was grateful for the opportunity.

    He said, “God bless You @IamReminisce Real OG before IG…You gave me a shot in 2012 to be on your album When no one knew who I was…Thank You Alaga. Grateful.”

    TheNewsGuru recalls that Patoranking once got a song idea while playing football.

    According to him:“I once got an idea for a song on the pitch while playing football,” he said.

    The ‘Heal the world’ singer also recounted how he coped during the total lockdown.

    She said that megastars like Patoranking, DJ Cuppy, Adekunle Gold and Fireboy DML would be interacting and sharing some of their interesting plans with their fans on the 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th of September, respectively.

    She said that beyond celebrating the immense talent demonstrated by Nigerian music stars, the goal of YouTube Music Week was also to showcase some of the top artists and songs making waves on the YouTube Music platform.
